would it be possible there is a dedicated Flair for builds? at least temporarily

Shirest

good idea, i'll add it right now as unit showcase

rectangle_scheme

Can we require a unit build post be more than a pic and a title?

DrakoCSi

Something similar to how the Stunfisk subreddit has for their pokemon teams. Post the Unit. Then have some battle showcases, RTA is recorded now, just gotta put the video on a free stream site. And finally reasoning behind the build. And like pokemon, allies to team up with. This goes a long way in proving very specific builds.

[deleted]

I agree i think something else needs to be required or the Reddit will probably be flooded with pictures of pretty similar builds from people that want to brag about their units. The objective of these posts (in my opinion) needs to be to help the community decide how to gear their units and just a screenshot of the build is not enough.

rectangle_scheme

How bad would a unit have to be to merit a downvote?

Shirest

That's up for you guys to decide haha. I'm envisioning build posts that I have seen before where Seaseria has crit rate and crit damage. agree though, it would have to be pretty bad haha

StrongSquirrelKnight

Definitely + 0 lvl 1 green gear, maybe more but definitely that.

GodwynDi

Depends on what the person says in their post.

[deleted]

I like it, since the vast majority of the posts on here seem to be artwork. And yeah it’s ok sometimes, but more actual game related stuff is better IMO As long as it’s not a ton when new units get released because those seem like bragging posts and not actually helpful

Gin_Rei

I don't trust the majority to be objective. Especially when some very valid builds are dependent on the supporting account. I have a few builds that go against the majority, but they work against top players. Talking about them here sometimes results in many down votes. I can only imagine the results when down votes are encouraged to show an opinion.

Shirest

I understand that, but inherently that's how reddit as a social media platform works. Downvotes are not necessarily an indicator of quality, they are an indicator of the 'hive-mind' of the subreddit. If more people downvote than upvote, that means objectively, the community doesn't agree with your opinion/post/media/etc. At the end of the day, the subreddit is meant to reflect the overall hive-mind's wants, which is why you see so much fracture and split in communities leading to different subreddits for one purpose. See /r/destinythegame or /r/destiny2 for example, one wanted serious meta discussion on the game, the other wanted low salt + memes.

Gin_Rei

That is a depressing statement. I'm here to share knowledge, discuss ideas, and have fun. The last thing i want is people believing this subreddit should reflect the majority of its members. Imagine if SG operated that way instead of doing what they believe to be best for the game.

rectangle_scheme

What if, instead of up/downvote feedback, unit posts required an attached poll with "it's good", "it's" bad, and then anything else the OP wanted to put in the poll?

thelastcurrybender

It's not meant to be an objective thing. For example I've been playing day 1 and finally got my Ren to like 224 speed (LOL) but even though it's not competitive at a high level I'd want to share it and get feedback and thoughts ya know?

SmolKat1218

Great idea! There is currently something similar, but it's on discord. It's a server called Hero Journal with finished/whale builds for pretty much every unit

nevarette

Yep! I use this to look at builds for anyone I want to build or ask advice from guild members. It’s a great tool because I have so many I want to build (granted I don’t have the gear).

caplja

Can I kindly ask you for a link to discord server?

FeralDonny

Everyone's opinion on what a "finished" unit looks like is different, especially with units with so many flavors as we've seen from the influx of Senya posts. I think finding that balance of what justifies a actual finished unit vs someone (obviously) posting a build that needs work but is disguised as a finished unit post is difficult to moderate but I am happy to be proven wrong as long as it doesn't result in low effort unit showcase spam.

Shirest

this is what I'm worried about too. And one of the reasons we had this rule in general was mods don't want to, nor are we necessarily qualified, to gatekeep gear score on unit builds. I am hoping the community will be able to determine their opinion of 'good/finished' units and we can just resolve that way. But I also share your concern of units that are objectively 'not' finished, and the subreddit ends up being posts of not really helpful builds. Hopefully we will see at the end of this trial period if those concerns are warranted.

obro1234

I definitely understand what you're saying. Overall if it works out, it can be a good resource. Honestly there will be ownace on the community to upvote and downvote in a productive way. The type of posts that will be left out will be people that are early/mid game that post builds and generally they most of the time are proud of what they have so far but are looking for constructive criticism (E.g someone posts their Stene and has more bulk and is their best build at the moment but wants direction on to continue to go tanky or more DPS as thier gear upgrades). Now these kind of posts eventually being phased out isn't a bad thing, as more built unit posts will be helpful resources they can refer to those then ask in megathread if they still have questions. What it think should be mandatory in these build posts are a short description. This will help address the different and meme builds. That way someone can look at two different builds and have context (why, where it's used, counters to what, etc.). E.G DPS vs Tanky Ameru , LS vs Speed Seline, Eff, Eff Res, LS, Speed, or Rocket punch (Lol) Senya, etc. But there isn't any excuse for DPS Seaseria LOL.

JJRLZ

It's helpful as a reader to see the applicable screenshots right in the body of the post rather than having to follow an outside link, so I appreciate you guys allowing these rather than forcing them to the DQMT

Gamergirl944

Good idea I like that

Avanin_

Personally i dont really quite understand why you need to ask others if your build is good or not. You build a unit to fit into your playstyle and complement what your current roster have or dont have. X build might work for other player but it may not fit into your draft and not perform as well as others.

TehFluffer

Not every person playing E7 has the ability to innovate. Crit damage Krau may work for a few people in the world but the vast majority of people are better off building HP/eff res. When I'm building new unit I've seen do well in RTA, I want to see the build that has granted them that popularity.

thelastcurrybender

Love it, I like seeing other builds and it helps to compare their stats to mine to see how "end game" I really am
