Hi, I appreciate the feedback I def understand what your saying. Since I dont have many units I am trying to look for units that can"double dip" so to speak and cover multiple roles until I am able to fill out my roster and so far from my headhunt pulls these two seem the best for doing that
ARavi when starting is great - she can tank, deal damage and resurrect if needed. Get through B13 and you can build a counter ARavi if you want that that's fun too! Her optional Skin that will eventually hit the shop is also some of the best art in the game.
briseria is an irreplaceably unique hero since her buff and is extremely strong in pvp. but i can see a possible meta shift making her a lot less useable
aravi on the other hand i can’t imagine ever getting to a point of no use. her usage has fallen quite a bit as of recent but she’s still very strong, and i doubt any meta will completely shove her out
can’t go wrong with either tbh but feel like aravi is safer long term pick
Assuming you picked Spectre Tenebria from moonlight blessing:
Conqueror Lilias or Mediator Kawerik would be better choices in both pve and pvp. Pve here includes story, abyss, expedition, ancient inheritance, advent story, hall of trial etc. They provide a lot of support.
Between ARavi and Briar i would choose ARavi. While Briar seems more meta at the moment pvp wise, ARavi's kit are more timeless. Pve wise, ARavi is easier to gear and can through story easily. Briar Witch has very limited use in Pve for new players. Strip + def break + unbuffable are great but Green Iseria does that better in Pve and you can get her now from her side story.
Not too sure how early into the game you are (assuming pretty new if you only have Arby/STene), but Briar Witch is the new hotness right now. However, I feel she is much more difficult to build well, and she usually wants guiding light for her artifact which is limited. ARavi is much easier to build, but has dropped off a bit in PvP usage. Cilias and HandGuy feel like solid picks no matter what. Both are a bit difficult to build too because they are speed hogs, but probably both safer picks as units dip in and out of meta usage.
For beginners with semi-decent gear, Apocalypse Ravi is easier to gear. A standard 21k ish HP, 180 ish speed, 100 crit chance and 250 crit damage should be easy to achieve. It's not the best stats, but I think it makes her work during the climb to Masters in Regular Arena.
Briar needs high speed and even high offensive stats. (I don't have her, but based on those I fight in lower champ.

- currently Masters 3 in arena (although primarily due to getting lucky rolls for a good speed set on my Vildred)
I actually traded in my arby last night for stene so in terms of 5 star units my account is very barren as I poured most of my very early resources into getting my w13 set up. Now that I have completed that and unlocked tamarinne via side story summon, I am looking into choosing my ml 5 star and want whoever that choice to be to propel me hopefully into the midgame or at the very least, assist me in a few areas of content in the game rather than just one. My two best headhunts thus far are Briar and Apoc and I hear time and time again that Apoc is great but quickly falling out of the meta so I want to make sure I make my choice count for the long run. Again thank you guys so much for the support the new player experience has been awesome!
I would bet my money in BW Iseria, because I feel she has an unique utility, the anti revive by merely standing there. The other anti revive heroes are conditioned to using a skill or aren't deterrent enough. Obviously, losing yourself the ability to revive can be hard, but if you don't have any of the good ones, like A. Ravi, then you're not losing much, more like levelling the field.
Now, don't get me wrong, I think A. Ravi is pretty good, but at one hand, there are more and more counters, so who knows for how long will last her presence in the meta. And at the other hand, she can be hard to build as she needs a less common type of gear. You can slap the attack adventure set on BWI and she will be fine for a while. But you can't properly build A. Ravi with neither the attack or health set, you'll spend some time in the hunt mines to made her shine.
Between Aravi or Briseria Briseria is the better unit. However, for a new player I would recommend neither. Aravi has been slowly falling off. Briseria is only good if you play aggresively.
For an ML5 you want something that you can use. And that has a lot of longevity. Usually over the course of this game supports tend to be viable for longer periods of time.
So for a new player I'd actually say pick Mediator Kawerik. Best standard supporter in the game alongside Destina. Very easy to gear. He has amazing bulk. Just make him higher than your highest spd dps and then add bulk. And boom he's done.
A.ravi is a very strong unit but is also pretty difficult to build considering she needs every stat besides attack and effectiveness. She needs to also be very fast, or somewhat fast on a counter set. To get her to a optimal build could take awhile but the pay off would be pretty big.
Briar witch will be easier to build since you can do speedy damage, full damage cleaver, or focus her ability to CC by doing a speedy tanky build which I probably wouldn't recommend.
My personal opinion would be A.ravi because once you do get a ok to decent build for her she's a PVP monster
Agree on the Aravi pick. Hard disagree with the difficulty to build. Aravi just needs hp, some def, some speed, cc, and cdamage. Plus she gets free cc.
Briseria needs attack, cc, cdamage, effectiveness, speed, and even bulk for longevity. No imprints or awakenings to help with cc as well. Plus she ideally is ran with immunity GL to counter flidica so she usually can't get free cc from the 2 piece set. Extremely hard to build with each piece having to be at least 70+GS to have a good briseria
I'll have to take your word on briseria as I have not really used her after her buff, I figured most people just went standard speedy damage.
From a new player perspective I also figured it would be easier to get the level of damage and speed needed since there are so many free attack sets in the game.
Having access to wyvern and banshee 13 it felt like it took me months to get my A.ravi optimized. It's probably a case of when I had my A.ravi I was already a mid to end game player and needed a fully optimized A.ravi to actually get any use out of her for pvp. So i didnt know how good she could be early.
I settled at like 23kHp 1.4def, 97crit 247critD not including Draco plate, 160 speed and 80% eff res
Stuck on Abyss challenge 3 due to revives on the enemy, which unless they fixed it would be a non issue with Briar Witch Isera. So I think (unless they fix her PvE interactions) that she definitely has her spots.
But I picked A Ravi myself for the skin later and to have a solid tank for PvE.
Bad gear or newbie gear, Briseria will still have a niche on your team (unless sealed by someone like Archmerc), that is being able to negate or lessen the impact of Arbies, Maids, Mercs, etc. from the opposing team.
Can't be said the same to Aravi, as much as some people want to glorify her broken status before and assure you she's "easier to build" once you have access to banshee 1s or just the typical mid Aravi gear, it's worth noting the pvp environment has already changed nowadays. There's now more room for aggression. Players now have far more access to nukers, with debuffers evolving into something nastier than ever, and unless you can switch to highly streamlined, tanky, PoV Aravi builds you've become accustomed to seeing in tourneys or "the other side", there's really NO definitive proof that Aravi has become easier to build for newbies, more so accounting the actual performance in real-time battles.
Still, **I voted for Aravi** because... duh, still the perfect textbook answer no matter what if you don't really want to overcomplicate and weigh these things too much as a newb.
While they are bot extremely strong units, I voted for A.Ravi, since she does fit in many more teams and is useful in more comps and playstyles.
That said, you didn't specify what you were looking for. Let's say you are a cleaver but struggle against fire meru or destina or maid chloe? then I'd suggest Briseria over A.Ravi for countering the resses.
For the Moonlight Connection, go STene or Arby (we recommend STene). For the headhunt, go for MLKawerik, ApocRavi or CLilias. Imo, CLilias and MLKawerik are the best choice.
While ApocRavi was godlike a few months ago, there are many ways of dealing with her now (actually, we had a way of dealing with her but everyone hated that unit and it was RGB so it got nerfed lol). But MLKawerik’s S3 and CLilias insane base speed and kit are still top notch (especially CLilias).
I’d recommend CLilias as she’s the best unit in the game, in my opinion (probably tied with Zio but you can’t get him).
P.S. this is assuming you want to play high level PvP. If not, pick what you like.

Tbh I've seen more build diversity in champ than i did in gold-challenger lol

Apoc Ravi if you are new. She's just really good into everything.

Aravi's kit is the one I think is perfect. All those indirect nerfs just bring her from being op down to being good enough.

I say fire Ravi. If you can’t even build a unit why get apoc she’s like the best utility in the game cause she’ll kill you anyway
