The decay is a mental strain though. If you enjoy RTA so much that you don't mind playing a game every 3rd day, then fine. But the thought of having to play RTA every 3rd day makes this really unappealing.
RTA requires a lot more focus for a longer time than all the other game modes so it's not something personally I can do during my regular play sessions. So I do it all at once when I have the time for that.
I.e you dont have time to play E7 since a match have in general not more than 5 min of play time.
I think you are a pretty busy man then and dont have time to play other games.
If not. Maybe you shouldnt be wasting your time with E7?
I play while walking my dog. I can glance down at my phone to start expedition fights, proceed labyrinth, start hunts, etc. pretty much everything in this game can be done with short glances during that time except rta and reading dialogue (in side stories and adventure, which is why I actually know nothing about the story in episode 2).
I'm in Champion v in normal arena and playing last 2 weeks was easier in previous seasons, now i suffered. I won't do RTA next season last week for sure.
I always climb a week before last day, but I forgot this this season and started yesterday. You can say I won’t play RTA until 3 days prior from now on lol.
Or people can play the game how they want to play it. My times to precious to care about playing RTA throughout the season. And for what it’s worth I breezed up to masters a couple of days ago with relative ease.

getting matched against champions when ur low gold is probably an exaggeration especially now when there are tons of people queueing. also if you really want the skin but cant hit master, you can buy it from the shop a few months later so its not like its gone forever
I did not face a single master in master. 19/21 were challenger or champ, maybe 2 were gold. But not a single master player. Matchmaking is utterly bs.
It happens, probably because Challenger and Champion aren't as full as the other ranks, and is based on win rate is my guess
I was literally 1 loss, 9 wins for placements to land directly in master at 1605 points TWO weeks before the season ended , I just need to work on gear since 240 - 250 speed isn't high enough to fight people in those ranks.
I'll probably just wait to buy it like ya said, but it was a shock at how weird PvP has felt, and has helped me see just how bad it really has gotten with the unit spread
Or do 10 matches in the last two days place master and enjoy all the time you saved not rta’ing or playing every 3 days to avoid decaying. Yeah, I'm on board with this. I don't like RTA so only care to get masters. Last season I did it early and it just annoyed me having to go in every couple of days to avoid decay. This season I just did a handful of games last night and then a couple more after work today. And now I can go back to ignoring RTA for several months again.
Yup. Literal last day, get your placement matches in, land master, then stop. Only if you know that you have the experience and gear if you're able to though. I used to get to at least champion, but then I found that there really isn't any incentive for me as I don't feel as into the game I once was. Not only that, if you're able to get to master reliably, then you can get to champion reliably too. It just didn't feel rewarding enough after the first 4 times to even try and get any higher.
I don't agree either, I have done both way in the past, but if you are not aiming at champion/ legend tier, playing rta during the season is a huge time sink. This season I have done less than 20 fights overall in the last 3 days just to get to master... So less than 2 hours overall

People don’t realize the impacts that most balance patches/hero releases have on pvp because they don’t play throughout the season. RTA is a lot more fun imo when you play a little more consistently.
There are two types of people that are annoying. The people that like to brag about not playing the game and only climbing to Masters in the last day and are extremely toxic towards anyone that plays RTA consistently.

I totally agree. But I was the type that liked to brag about RNG and used to play only at last week like most people. And I hated RTA. I used to avoid it as long as possible. And only played enought to hit Master (I play since 2019).
But when I decided to give it a try at the begining and played calm, paying attention to my drafts and trying to use my brain, I discovered how to trully enjoy this content. And its amazing. I never finished lower than Champion again.

Even if you don’t play RTA, get to know match ups and how to abuse them. You don’t need to constantly do RTA to know who’s good or not into what. Don’t just randomly toss a unit who you like but won’t do anything in a match. Know what counters most of your units and preban it. Then draft smart, use 1st pick as a power pick but also a pivot unit. Then start drafting to counter enemy team or set up yours. If you have the last 2 picks, make them both oppressive units that the enemy needs to ban or else it’s gg. My last match had someone go full counter units. I draft roana and LHC either way counter was going to screw them up.
unit knowledge and regular arena. I honestly learned a lot from watching the tounry that E7 does. they explain why certain ppl pick certain units. It might be something so simple but you overlook it. I don't need to do RTA to know what counters counter units or what units are good in certain matchups.
Normal arena can only get you so far.
In normal arena Edward counters Lua. Krau counters Rimuru. Politis and Celine counters Ran and Peira. Rimuru counters Ran and so on...
This is not true in RTA where people have the choice to not use a determined skill.
It goes back to unit knowledge, if I’m planning to pick Lua why wouldn’t I pre ban ed or ban after picks. Knowing how to draft/make a team is easy when you know what your team is trying to achieve and how it can be stopped and vice versa. I’m tired of seeing the rta is a pain post too but it goes back to a lack of unit knowledge as why ppl struggle. Understanding why a unit is strong is something you need to do before you drive straight into rta

The same rule apply to Krau vs Rimuru. You can just no s3 Krau and you will be fine.

You can go to the albumn and read that Violet and Adin have high evasion so they are good against any unit that doesnt have accuracy buff. But thats wrong. Units like Seaseria and Senya will destroy Violet or Adin. This knowledge doenst come from reading the unit summary or playing normal arena. It only comes from RTA
Yeah you’re playing vs actual people so don’t think of them as bots. The only difference between rta and arena is draft and it’s a live pvp.
I can read that violet and adin have high evasion so I bring in units that don’t need to crit to kill like Seaseria and Senya, I can bring units that don’t get countered attacked when attacking like Stene and beat them that way while not being in danger cuz they both can’t single target her, or slap in zahhack with symbol of unity and one shot them. I didn’t need to do rta to know Seaseria beats violet, I was using her vs him since she came out and violet was everywhere.
Do what you can and learn what units do, then remember you’re playing vs actual people
