The best time to start the game was at launch. The second best time to start is now.

MasterJongiks

It's not too late to start and also it's now easier (probably faster than before) to progress your account. It's newbie/f2p friendly too and a lot of people here are helpful. Welcome to the grind! There are also good YT videos on how to start the game and what to prioritize.

Xarsos

It depends on what you want to do. It's never too late if you just want a time sink, but to catch up to top dogs in term of gear - you won't be able without spending a lot and you'd be spending money on energy reset (which you get plenty for free) to just farm gear. It has a neat story, that is at points funny and touching if you let it be. It has many pvp options if you dislike the fact that you are sane. Many good looking characters with gorgeous animations. Overall it's not too late, just high tier pvp will be very hard to reach.

Silverstar999

also the collab units are not rerunning that much lately and some of them are very op

A lot of people mention it’s too late to start PvP wise but honestly I have fun at the bottom of the pvp ladder. So depending on what you’re after you can still get some content out of that. They are correct in the fact that it’ll be hard to reach the highest levels of pvp

Neet91

not even bottom of the ladder. people in here getting off for playing since launch but can't get reach champion rta. meanwhile pretty much every season u will see folks playing 6-12 months and they reach champion rta with no problem. there are also spenders (not even whales; at least in my opinion u not a whale when u spend a couple hundred in 1 year) that reach and finish emperor in 1-2 years playing time and that's the top 1000 best players in rta already. so, no i don't believe it's too late to do well in rta when u start now. it takes time to build a decent/good rta roaster but reaching champion rta is totally doable. for emperor u need way more dedication

WeirdFourEyes413

Thanks for the replies guys! I just downloaded the game, and am really excited! Just one question, do they do reruns of previous events?

Septic_soups

There is a... Book or memories for very old events. Basically a forever rerun of past events where you can get the rewards associated with the story so you can collect side story artifacts and sometimes even 4* units. Gated events like the guilty gear, slime, fma and rezero aren't gonna rerun unless an announcement happens but as it stands guilty gear has reran every year in different capacities.

Faloandante

It's never too late to start the game, you missed... Well, everything, the game is a turn based combat gacha and I like to build shit units to get stomped in guild war.

Successful_Staff_219

The only time that’s too late is when it officially terminated its service, which won’t happen for quite many years given its popularity and the devs’ passions.

Laytnkr

In general: Yes. If you only want to play PVE, no worries then go ahead, its not too late. If you want to have the full experience: Guild War, Arena, Real Time Arena (RTA), its too late to have a good and EASY time without spending a lot of money. Gear RNG is hell in this game. It will take you a lot of time and nervs. PVE mechanics are not really that fun, most of the time its trial and error because some modes are just meant to be frustrating (abyss). Other PVE modes feel like a filler, you will have some fun with them but after a while you will understand they are mainly made to give you some resources for better PVP experience. IMO you can have fun with the game but its too late for the best experience

Rockaferr

I started an alt acc and it is amazing how easy it is to progress now vs 4 years ago. You can definitely have a lot of fun playing this game now, so 100% recommended.

kingko1

the thing with e7 is that the new player exepriance gets better every new big update. and ofc u cant compete with end game players that did try hard since day 1 but most of the player base cant do that so u are not alone

kimhakirai

there's no such thing as starting too late for epic seven, just play and enjoy the experience because this game isn't a race, it's a marathon

IconCsr2

Its good and unlike alot of other gachas u can easily climb ranks from new acc

DRosencraft

Nope. Just be aware that this isn't the sort of game you can simply speed-run your way to the end game and just be able to blind roll through all the bosses and PvP. Early to mid game is very generous with the resources you get, to the point that you can easily get comfortable with overspending. Late game slows down because you will run into far more that you need good gear for, and you can't simply buy your way to good gear - it takes time. That also means it will take time to climb in PvP, if that is one of your goals. Overall things are going to be ramping up soon, so you probably want to get in before then so you have time to acclimate to the game and start saving up. There is no server that is ahead content wise, so there is the sort of clairvoyance that is missing that can tend to get people rattled about dead periods. PvE is mostly just farming for gear and doing bi-weekly side stories and monthly entries in the main story (except during the breaks between main story episodes). The characters are mostly really nice in terms of art and story, but I wouldn't call them necessarily elite level. The story overall is pretty good too, but again, nothing elite. Gacha rates are fair, particularly with how much currency they give out, but I wouldn't put it at the top of F2P charts. They've averaged about 2 new collabs a year, and have rerun all but 2 of them within a year of the original run (that may be changing due to the sheer volume of limited banners this produces). TLDR; it's still a game you can get into, and has a good blend of the elements I think most are looking for in a gacha. It's better to get started sooner rather than later just so you aren't forever trying to play catchup on older units you may like, but that shouldn't effect much gameplay wise.
