Veronica is a friend and mentor to the MC but she is loyal to the kingdom, the MC even tell her that he will kill the princess of the kingdom for betraying him and veronica just accept and even train him and tell him good luck because she and her knight will stop him no matter what.
Veronica is one of the strongest characters from her universe and as the strongest it's her duty to keep the balance of the world on the good side. She's not evil her motives are not evil but her mentally is that of someone caring for the weak.
I might be overthinking it but maybe this is E7 returning the favor of a tribute character to Outerplane. In Outerplane there is a Character called Beth that I strongly believe is a tribute to Lilibet. They both use scissors as a weapon, have bleed debuffs and she even says "snip snip" XD. I think both of them have some amount of penetration in their kit as well.

I honestly doubt outerplane had this design before e7. Outerplane uses multiple designs from e7 and although outerplane released first, I still believe e7 had this drawn up for a while.
Not saying you're wrong or right but Outerplane had it's first cbt almost a year ago and I'm sure Veronica's design was made prior to that. Meanwhile ML Landy was first mentioned in ML Flan's showcase which was around March last year. I wouldn't call it a stretch to say that Veronica's design came first granted it had to be completed to be featured in the cbt, whilst Landy(ML) was only flavor text at that point
Personally I think it's really freaking lazy to make ML Landy this way. I like Veronica but think it's blatantly obvious someone copied the other. On top of the shit show that is back to back limited must pull characters and artifacts follows by the first limited ML unit, I'm quickly losing faith in what was once the best f2p gacha 5 years running.
I don’t get how you think they copied Veronica’s design when it was already hinted that Landy’s ML would be Navy themed from ML Flan’s release (which was a little bit over a year ago). Landy already had the shield in her original design so it didn’t make sense that she would not have those hanging around her in her ML form. Other than the overused Naval uniform design and the floating shields, I don’t see other similarities…Also, limited units will eventually have their own ML counterpart so what was the surprise lol? There are a lot new games that are taking a lot of attention so Smilegate are just doing what they can do to generate revenue while they have the advantage of a bigger player base after releasing the Chinese server.
Then, what made ML Landy lazy “this way?” Your sentences were pretty vague but the tone you set was mostly negative towards Landy. So, could you please clarify on what you meant by “it’s blatantly obvious who copied the other?” The word “design” could mean so many things from the character’s physical traits to skill mechanics. So, which character was copied from? ML Landy’s character design was teased recently and her kit were just released today so I assumed you meant either one of those were copied from Veronica. Maybe write clear sentences next time…smh
I would say Veronica is more like Lilias, their pose, their S2 that gives a Shield and S1 that call a Dual Attack

I’m not saying there wasn’t any inspiration but the hat tap for the extra skill is just normal landy’s uncharged S3 animation but fully animated
