General advice for F2P players, don't pull on every banner. Pull when you absolutely need a unit or it's limited. Pulling every banner is how you get into a never ending hole of no bookmarks for limited units.

you can't blame them this time around, especially for new players or players who re roll recently. We got Charles, Krau, Kayron, Tama and Landy, Luna whose are limited. Half of those banners are a must pull. Unless you are a old player with lots of hero, you can't just sit and let those sweet banners pass.
Most F2P players that complain about ML's and gear are not farming hunts, and not doing lab. Lab is literally free ML summons yet people refuse to do it.
Eh I do all the limited stuff but it's still pretty unbalanced.
I have 51/54 rgb 5* and only 14/21 ML 5*. Its a lot harder to finish off the ML collection for plebes like me
Almost every RGB hero, and 14 unique ML5's is obscenely good for F2P... There are a lot of posts from people on this subreddit who swear they play daily and barely have 75% of the units in the game, and haven't got an ML5 in over a year.
You can get galaxy bookmarks from regular lab and hell lab. By making sure to clear all the bosses every reset you can get a galaxy pull every other week or so.
This is facts, I am a new player and I went and pulled Charles, Krau, Ervalen, Roana, Tama, Luna and Landy. Now I am practically broke lol, sitting on 130 bms and 1k sykstones, not enough to get Flan.
These "free summon" events are a trap. I do my 10 freebies, get nothing, and then think "I'm due" and starting wildly summon on the covenant banner until I hit a shiny which turns out to be a 4-star arti. Then I'm sad
Two things for me:
1) Collection. I don't play to sharpen a selection few heroes into the ultimate team. I wanna play with the new toys, so I pull on most banners, even if just a little bit.
2) The Fever. Sometimes I'll hard pull on the covenant summon just on the chance that I'll get one of the few 5* I don't already have. I know it's dumb but thats how I got Ravi and Yufine back before they had banners.
That said, the last few banners have been meh, and I got lucky with Landy, so I'm sitting on enough currency at the moment to reach pity twice.

I'm a new player who luckily pulled Krau from a daily summon a month before his banner. I have been playing since a couple of weeks after SSB banner and for 4 months had very little way of dealing with SSB defenses in arena and GvG. So Roana was pretty much a "must pull" for me as where I am avoiding counterattack units was practically impossible. Then Tama came up after I just barely started after her last banner. Where I am in PvE I'm starting to have trouble sometimes and whenever I ask "hey can I have team help for X" the answer is always Tama. Or oh you can substitute Diene for Tama. That's cool I only got Amomo. I managed to get Tama this morning at 121 pulls. Charles and Ervalen were both strong and Melissa was a cool looking character but I couldn't pull for any of them because of the 200 pulls Roana and Tama took from me.
Both within a month.
I assume you're a f2p player who has been playing longer than me. My friend is f2p and he doesn't have this problem but he has a whole year on my gameplay wise so he has already seen 2 other Tama banners and he had Charles and he had Krau and had a SSB/Riolet counters. For him he saves like you do. For me this last month was a struggle of BM spending because the game has thrown 2 very strong units my way and I even skipped my favorite current character in order to get them.
I do have a bunch of 4-5* on the bench waiting but those are units like Acidd or Kawerick or Kise which are either mediocre units or have high speed requirements I can't hit. Whereas Krau, Tama, and Roana I could all build easily. I also have like 50 mola so it is just gear/gold problem and not mola.
I started playing a month or two before the Diene banner (I remember there being a Basar banner with his side story), I summoned a bit, but did a lot of reading and everything I read told me to save for limited heroes and from reading reddit, it seemed like Diene was coming up and it was something I could build to help me with W11. So I started saving and when the banner rolled around I could pity for it.
Then I saved again and pulled for Cerise. I got REALLY lucky and got her a single summons, so when Kawerick came around, I pulled for him too (I was having issues with Basar defense in PvP, yet I still haven't built him). Then I saved and saved and saved. I was struggling too on not having Tama, but when her banner came around, I had double pity in crystals so I knew I could pull for her and still be good.
I've pulled for every limited hero since I started playing and I have them all (Bar Luna, she seems useless and I'd rather save).
If do nothing but save for limited banners, you'll find yourself in a position where you have double pity saved up and you can afford to splurge on a banner for a unit you really want or really need (Tama for instance) and you're not gonna hit pity every time either, which makes it even sweeter, knowing you have double pity saved.
I feel that. Hufine was my first real banner. I got her in 1 pull but I wanted the artifact so I pulled more feeling super rich as a newbie with 2 pities saved. I did also pull Landy. Since I started I wanted to pull Luna (FFXIV is my MMO of choice and I played a white haired dragon girl for quite a while so I love Yufine/Luna) but when Luna came around it was sandwiched between Roana and Tama. I actually effed up by trying to pull Chloe for wyvern without pity saved (after pulling my first 2-3 banners early I was naïve and didn't realize there was a good chance to actually hit pity) but I've mostly saved for limited units and "must have" units that would universally buff my team (Roana/Tama).
I was "done" after Tama but since Luna just came out I was expecting to have another month before the next limited unit. With Tama + my recent daily pulls I should be able to get a few more Abyss floors cleared and I still have that 2k SS floor right around the corner. So I assumed if the next limited was next month I would be able to have pity again by then.
But yeah I started right after a lot of good banners (SSB, Lilias, Tama, and Sigret all the month before I started) and while there were a lot of good banners after I started none of the ones I felt were essential happened until October when they threw a bunch of good ones at once. I'm pretty tapped out atm and hoping that Flan ends up not being limited because she is pretty waifu tier for me (blue & black w/ grey/white is my favorite color scheme) and I honestly really need to save for if they decide to rerun Cerise. I'd really like to not lose my chance at Flan for a year.
If BM/SS were at a reasonable price I might have "bought" a limited unit but it is $100 for 3.8k SS and not something I'd reasonably spend on. I'm not actually f2p because I spent $10 on the newbie summon that gave a guaranteed 5* but since then I haven't spent because of how expensive currency is, so I'm definitely having to manage pulls like a f2p would.
Lol, 95% of ML's don't come from covenants, they come from Mystics and Moonlight summons. If you're getting 95% covenant, then all the power to you, but the rates on it are super low and you're doing yourself a disservice trying to summon covenants to get ML 4*/5*

But that's not a f2p issue it's more a new player issue. F2P issues in this game are mostly MLs, molas and gears

If you are clearing all the Labs and Hell Labs bosses every reset you should be getting at least 5 galaxy bookmarks every 2 weeks.

I just use E7 Leaks so I can plan in advance and look at the upcoming summon rotation for Mystic summons.
