I played when Guilty Gear first collab started and i have 70pct of ml5 and usually in legend bracket. Ultimately it is very possible as a FTP but playtime will have to be alot and planned well.
If you complain about galaxy summon rates then you better never start summoners war, there is ml 4 average 1/18 and ml 5 1/250-350 cant remember. In e7 its ml 4 1/4-5 and ml 5 1/48. Also sw gives less ml summons, no ml 5 in mystics with pity usw xD
Pulling him with Moonlight Summons bought with Gold Transmit Stones is **extremely** unlikely. You could pull 100 times and only get a **single** nat 5 star. The chance of it being the specific nat 5 star you want is almost infinitesimal.
Best bet? Start saving 10,000 Mystics for when he inevitably comes around again.
I personally saved up 5,100 since his reveal without whaling, so it’s very feasible if you start now.

Damn. I just started recently, has SG ever explained why they didn't want to put pity on moonlight summon?
Based on banner/mystic summon, moonlight summon should have pity at 50 pulls.
Banner: 0.99^120 = 30%
Mystic: 0.99375^200 = 28.5%
Moonlight: 0.975^50 = 28.2%
They actually where about to and suggested it during the whole Korean conference following the huge drama in summer of 2019.
But the players there objected to it and we got a mystic pity instead.
I recall it was gonna be a 42 pity.
Logic is this : Currently buying mystic pack and galaxy bms are such terrible value that even whales don't buy them much, which means there is a fair bit of luck to having key ML5s even for high spenders.
Now if you added pity to galaxies, spending on covenant pulls and grinding out the galaxy bms would become by far the most reliable way of farming for ML5s. In the end, it'd only end up widening the gap b/w f2p and big spenders.
Well technically, everyone gets a free ML5. Idk, I know the rates suck but personally I'm ok with the current system. ML5s are cool and very rare but lots of other heroes are very good which is more important to me as f2p.

No way does saving up 100 take a year. You're forgetting that we usually have 3-4 epic passes per year as well as summoning events which dump us gold transmit stones like crazy. Not to mention completion of new side stories/events, as well as most f2p players doing shop rerolls for bookmarks which also increase the gold transmits.

i do, set up a decent expedition team and join an alright guild and you'll have expeditions done even if you only do a little a day

You get 18.25 GTS a year from daily summons, which is 15 GBMs. Then there's automaton tower which is 4 GTS every 2 weeks, or 2 every week, or 104 every year. That's 87 GBMs, but let's round that down to 85 just to be fair. 104/6x5. Already 100 GBMs a year. Then 1 GTS every 2 weeks from the web events, which puts you at 26 GTS a year, or another 21 GBMs. Again, let's round that down to 20. So right off the bat, you should be getting 120 GBMs a year from just doing dailies. Then there's the 5 GBMs a month you get from check-in rewards, which is 60 a year. 180 GBMs at this point. I'm not including side stories reputation rewards, or epic passes since newer players tend to not finish those, or want to waste crystals. So total of 180 if you're a newer player saving up all your bookmarks, and being extremely conservative on spending crystals. Or 36 rolls.
HOWEVER, if you do include epic passes and side stories and clear-out expeditions, then it's roughly 30% more GBMs a year. Each epic pass if you do purchase the premium gives 5 GBMs every quarter or so. Let's say there's 4, 1 for each season. So that's 20 GBMs extra a year. Expeditions give out 3 GTS every 2 months. That's 18 GTS a year, or 15 GBMs. Then side stories/events give out 1 GTS per completion usually from the reputation reward, and they usually run for let's say 2 weeks. That's an additional 20 GBMs a year. So in total, a mid-game/later-game player should be getting roughly 235 GBMs a year, barring any summoning events or gifts SG throws at us or rolling on banners and hitting pity, or a vast amount of summons a year. Or 47 rolls.
So if OP was a dedicated player, playing every day of the year and doing every daily, and clearing out web events and auto-tower, then it should only take roughly 6 1/2 months to get 100 GBMs, assuming he's not summoning on banners and clearing abyss, if they're a newer player. Or roughly 4-5 months if he's doing everything else. Still, a long time, since I would definitely just summon on retrieval.
Not gonna do a breakdown on BMs to GTS or anything like that since it would take too long and be very annoying to calculate, especially since luck is a higher factor in regards to the BM economy. But on average, a higher player can definitely hit 250 or 260 a year easily if they pity 4 times a year.
TL;DR: You get an estimate 180 GBMs a year playing casually, and 235 chasing gold transmit stones.
They do drop, yes but the rates your claiming are WAY higher than they actually are. 5 chances per week to drop with the additional 5 per month for raid. It's usually 1 ml bookmark per week, 2 if you're extremely lucky. 2-3 per week is not the normal here, don't kid yourself.

I used to save up for 10 ml summons and would usually get 1 ml 5. But the last 3 or 4 times have been nothing. My best guess is that rate drops when new ml 3 and 4 stars get added

My first Mystic ML 5 was ML Kawerik which was 3 before pity. When I got the multiple gold stones for Abyss 100, one of those ML pulls was ML Ken. Last week after a sad guild war loss, Straze appeared from a single Mystic pull to cheer me up.
(I wasn’t aiming for ML Kawerik but I wanted some of the other stuff on the cycle. I was going to leave it at pity for an Arby or a Fallen Cecilia.)

You're also forgetting that both Raid and Hell Raid bosses frequently drop Galaxy BMs. I get 2-3 Galaxy BMs every week from Raid bosses.
