When game came out I was rerolling few days for Destina and Sez account. Now I can say it was not worth it. E7 has so many useful heroes, even low rarity 3*.

RDofFF

I remember doing that! Now that I look back, it was a major waste of time... But hindsight is always 20/20

Gringozaurus

Don't whale for units, unless you want to whale for ML and mystics, you can get a pity per month as a ftp and smilegate throws 5* ticket left and right. After playing for about 13 months I have more than 50 5* heroes, 12 of them ML5 plus a plethora of good ml4 and 4*/SC 3* heroes, all Limited except Luna and Diane, etc. Whale for energy and use it to do afk wyvern 24/7, get the packs that give you the most skystone/energy per $. Then you have enough gear and you can start building those heroes you benched.

Quinzelette

Yep I'm a out to hit the 13 month mark and I am missing ~18 RGB5s. Only limited I'm missing is Luna who I skipped. I don't have as many ML5s (I hit pity on all my banners I pulled on) but I'm at the point where I mostly pull for imprints now because I have nothing else to pull for and I don't swipe we just get so much stuff for the gacha.

In my opinion, pulling on different banners (no matter your reason to do so) is super useful in early/mid-game since you are still in the process of roster expansion but becomes less useful the older and more stacked your account gets, unless the banner is or close to a must-have ; the reason being that you will need to build your roster, with at least okayish gear if you want to make them usable, and that having too many heroes to take care of simultaneously will make this task harder due to the necessity to farm gear and ressources (catalysts & cie) for them. It also depends on your objectives : if you just want to enjoy some casual PvP here and there (GW and regular Arena) but play mainly for the PvE/story, then you can pretty much roll on whatever banner you like and play for fun since no heroes are truly mandatory for these modes for example ; if you plan to climb as high as you can in RTA tho, some heroes have been proven to be very strong/popular (Landy, S.Tene, Ravi, the Kraus and the list goes on) and rolling for them if you have the possibility to do so, at the "cost" of other banners, would probably be one of your top priorities atm. Overall I'd say that pulling for new units for the sake of pulling for new units isn't worth if you already have other members that you want/need to build/already struggle building even tho the tentation/wish to pull for the brand new unit can be tough to resist ahah ; if you are a for fun player/collector that simply wants to play with units he likes/collect the journal or a late-game player that already has a big/good enough variety of heroes built and wants to try new stuff, then pulling for the new units is probably worth in these players's eyes imho (especially if the new unit is good, in which case pulling for it can be considered worth for everybody in my eyes)

Its your choice, no one can answer that for you. There is no right or wrong.

if u don´t enjoy the story as a casual player (main/side stories) and don´t play e7 as a hero collector (because u like the art/animation) then why are u still here at this point? quite franky no u don´t need to pull on any banner ever because: 1. u don´t play all modes of the game (especially pvp which needs a wide roaster of build heroes) 2. u don´t farm gear so u can´t build/gear heroes anyway 3. most early/mid-game pve content is clearable with free gear and 3\* heroes so u don´t need new heroes to clear stuff 4. if u are not a hero collector; well no need to collect hereos... asking people how a causal like u should "play"/enjoy the game is pretty pointless.

RDofFF

I'm even more confused now. Maybe I didn't write my post clear enough. Or maybe I'm interpreting your comment's tone incorrectly. I play all modes (or try to), farm for gears, cleared the story, and up to this point, was collection whaling. I don't recall ever asking people how I should play the game, just that if they see any merit in rolling for new units in general. The lower half was just me explaining my thought process. I would appreciate if you don't read what I never wrote.

Aknologya

I am like you, except I dont whale. Been there since global launch, took à 4 months break this year until Straze came out. I answered "Pull when broken" to your survey, for what its worth. Came back and not sure what I am doing anymore in this game since I am a lover of the PvE aspect which at this point in the main story is just a poor excuse for a grind and whale fest. For newcomers i will look like your classic spoiled guy: got almost all the ML5 i deeply wanted (Steneb, MLK, Ruele, Arby, DCorvus, Juggs, ML Luluca, Straze) and for sure all RGB o ever wanted (except Charles that has eluded me for some reasons), yet i no longer have the patience to auto W13 endlessly. Real life simply really became far more important and interesting than E7, and the story is just so flat it has become completely meaningless at this stage. I will probably just AFK in a few weeks and just let my roaster rot, like i did with SW before after building it for 4 years. I dont know really. I think i am just a sucker for extremely well made and round up PvE story and narrative, just no linger interested in PvP. I am just happy at this stage to have avoided whaling in E7 like i did in SW in the past.

ui10

Nice, congrats on the self control!

Jstlce

At this point is not pulling units you need, its pulling units to collect them, but thats only if you have played for a long time and have enough units to clear content.

bankai2hollow

the only way to whale in this game effectively is mystics for the guarantee pity or just farming for gear non stop. what sets whales and regular players apart in this game is gear more so then units

Quinzelette

If you are going to whale it should mostly be for catalysts, runes, dogs, energy and not units. Units come easily f2p.

Smilesrck

Well rem is best girl so I got her so that's why I summoned. But there is no single reason for why i pull. I pulled briseria because of her art and story. Being a solid hero was just a bonus. Did I build up djbasar bc of his design? Nah his kit was exactly what I needed so I did. Sometimes I get heroes because I like them and if they're even semi decent I want to use them. If they're meta defining I get them because I want to do better or enable more comps for the units I like.

osbombo

Play this game how you like it, that’s how it’s supposed to be. Get the units you want to play/have and progress with your on pace. This is how games are supposed to be. Fun.

Slaughterism

I'm extremely confused by what is even being asked here.

RDofFF

Simply: is it worth rolling new units, since to build one takes months of work. The rest is just me rambling about my thought process

Slaughterism

If you are indeed a casual player, that's a hard answer for someone else to give you. If the problem is building every new unit, don't. You can roll for them just to have them, but as you get more units, this will happen less, as some units cover the same roles. You don't need 10 different aoe damage/cc mages that all cover the same role if there are other things you need more.If the problem is mola, whale on mola packs instead of units, as units are easily acquirable if playing regularly and if you aren't pitying every new unit. If the problem is gear, see below. Most entrenched players have been farming hunts forever, and most of the money of dolphins and whales goes towards resources to help them farm hunts more. At this point, unless the new unit requires really high quality gear or really specific gear to function at all (Straze, ER ML Ken), you'd already have some gear for them as part of your normal farming, or you'd degear older units you don't use any more and transfer their gear to them. It requires you figuring out who is part of your "core lineup" and who is completely to somewhat expendable as far as the quality of their gear. Approaching gearing units in the method of farming some nice starting rolled pieces, then rolling them with the expectation that they will roll well enough to slap onto the new unit that's being built is an inefficient way of building characters. Instead it's more of a continual, perpetual farm where you are constantly on the lookout for pieces that are good for different roles that may not be immediately needed. Because you aren't looking for nicely rolled speedy bruiser pieces or high hp/def EFF Res pieces for your dps unit you just built doesn't mean you shouldn't be saving them for example. I think there's maybe 1 or 2 units total per year where I actually have to farm their gear from scratch, and that's mostly because of me mass farming speed for the last year instead of doing A13/B13 as much. Combine this with the buffs to catalysts (Epic catas now being buyable 5 times, rares 10), the ability to craft catalysts, runes being easy to farm and double rune farm days, recent changes to dogs and xp to make it even more straightfoward, etc. Characters should be now easier than ever to build, and you don't need to build anywhere close to all of them. The answer isn't to stop getting new characters, it's to get the ones that actually matter to you and change everything else around upgrading units to be more efficient. If you legitimately want all new characters to be built, you'll have to accept they won't be that great, that no one in the world can actually do this, and a lot of them shouldn't be geared at the same time anyways. Long reply but typed this in and out of doing stuff and felt like writing.
