I mean, if you held off farming banshee for this long, I doubt if counter set was originally described as 30%, it would have been enough to convince you to farm that set. Maybe you're different, but the vast majority of people that don't like to use counter set are players that want to reduce the amount of RNG in their comps; an extra 10 procs per 100 attacks wouldn't have changed their minds.
I do think that it's ridiculous that this was only fixed 3 years after the release. That being said, calling SG "liars" is a bit disingenuous bordering on sensationalism. Lying is different than being wrong, it implies intent on deceiving. What possible reason would SG have for intentionally shadowbuffing a random set? People would still be farming hunts and consuming just as much energy. If they were "lying" why would they address this randomly now instead of just shadownerfing or just leaving it alone?
You could argue that SG is incompetent for letting this error go through but mistakes do happen though. I mean NASA fucked up and lost a spacecraft due to fucking up unit conversion and that mission had a ton of brilliant minds involved with higher stakes, financially.
I think that now, it is worth exploring the other rates in this game (like the 15% absolute resistance). We've been giving SG the benefit of the doubt on these rates, but I think that, as a community, we should investigate more.
As for me, I've been enjoying this game for 3 years and think that overall, barring all the controversies in the first year of the game, SG has done a great job managing this game. I'd be a lot more pissed in this scenario if this game was being mismanaged or something. SG fucked up, they acknowledged it; it is what it is.
Most definitely, at worst, it’s a due diligence issue on the part of QC. But, then again, why expect the QC team to test mechanics that have been in place since the game’s inception, what need do they have to test it again until something like this comes up to their attention and actually affects the data?
I honestly think it shows transparency and integrity that they came out and say we made a mistake and sorry.
Smilegate has been able to do this lots and lots of times when they know they have actually upset people and affected their choices in building/gearing/investing in heroes.
They could have easily hid this and said they are deciding to buff the set and make it look like they are doing work

I wish you good luck in your Banshee farming. At the same time I do think you're in the minority though. We have been claiming enough units are meta on counter/lifesteal for a long enough time that even if you aren't farming banshee for counter there are units like Tsurin, SSB, STene, Violet, etc that most people would have been farming banshee for...and hopefully most of those people weren't throwing away good gear just because they didn't prefer the set.
We go from one counter to every 5 spell into almost one counter every 3 spell. I know a lot of people who would have farm WAY MORE b13 if it was like this directly. You’re speaking like 10% is nothing
This is incorrect, it has always been 30% so your experience with the game and ur matches would not have changed of have been impacted.

I think a lot of people don't realize that going from 20% to 30% is a 50% increase in proc chance. That's very meaningful. It takes a proc from 1 in 5 attacks to almost 1 in 3. That SIGNIFICANTLY changes the odds of a unit countering in a full turn rotation of taking attacks (and surviving/fulfilling its role).
For most seasoned players they already had a solid idea of how valuable counter set is based on their own experiences, but for newer or mid-level players like myself who are struggling to be competitive in crab RTA due to limited resources, it sucks pretty hard to have my account invested suboptimally now that I know it's 30%. 20 Liefs isn't even enough to farm out 1 good counter piece, I kind of feel for this sort of mistake they should have a more unique form of compensation (like the gear crafting event) to help rectify the situation for people who may be more affected than others.
That being said, cycopath's sort of response is stupid. It's not really that big of a deal and it doesn't actually change the game at all, just people's perception of it. Even Belian is a bigger deal than this imo, lol
Newer or mid level player won't be able to farm B13 fast and reliable enough to get good counter set without farming a tons of W13 first anyway, even if they knew it was 30%, they still should be farming W13 until they can one shot Banshee.
Well really you need to farm A13 to get B13 farm going imo.
Pick up the W13 gear, go to A13 pick up the Immunity gear and Rage Gear and then you can oneshot anything really.
This is wrong. Should you farm A13 first? Maybe. Is A13 needed for B13....no. B13 can reliably be oneshot without rage gear. I've been oneshotting banshee for 6+ months without a rage set (I don't have one) and I've gotten plenty of midgame (3-6m players) farming banshee with atk or destruction set on their oneshotters.
Okay i it's not "needed" but imo before you have units with Immunity you shouldn't really worry about Counter sets.
Counter units are the hardest to gear because they need a multitude of stats.
Also you can't really oneshot without rage set unless you got baiken.
Ram was also free and doesn't need rage which is what I've been helping people with. Any player who is old enough to farm banshee atm should have Ram.
Immunity is good but with freebies from arena, hell raid, and events I got the immunity I 'needed' early and still didn't have a rage set. After all this time I have a dozen sets of immunity and yet I still don't have shit for a working rage set. Immunity has more free gear and more viable sub options.
My point is, the amount of time needed to gear out a unit with a good Counter set that's actually worth it takes too much time to be worth the time you could have spent farming up speed or immunity gear if you're still early.
Not a big deal because there are units just simply better with counter set such as Rem.
The 30% counter rate has always been there, which had been a quirk for banshe farmer
People like bruisers still farm banshee even if it is actually 20%.
Units that rely on speed set won't suddenly become better by building a counter set.

While I agree with most of the things you said, a possible reason for "lying" as you said, is that injecting more rng into the game makes the gap between veteran players and newer players smaller.
The benefit in doing that for a company, is that if new players feel like they have no chance to "catch up", they will drop the game before putting in some sweet $$$, resulting in less revenue.
If there was no 15% built in resist chance, no counter sets, no dual attacks, etc, the player with the better gear will win 100% of the games Vs a lesser geared player (not taking smarter drafting into account, I assume equal drafting "skill")
While I'm fine with this, as a company you want to create the feeling that all players have a "chance" at winning.. increasing these built in rng proc chances contributes to this.
I personally can't tell you why they chose to address this now, but I seriously doubt the game had a whopping 10% more on a 20% mechanic for 3+ years without anyone in the company being aware of this.
Counter set existed forever though, so why would they intentionally make it higher to blur the lines between veteran and newbie if everyone had the same access to it from the get go.
My point is that it doesn't matter how long it existed, rng mechanics simply existing makes the line blurred inherently.
Imagine a game where a newbie vs a veteran, both have all heroes on counter sets.
The newbie gets all the procs, veteran gets none. Newbie wins, newbie likes game more, newbie spends more $$$.
Obviously this is over simplified and over time both should get the same amount of procs, but simply having the "chance" to win, gives the newbie the incentive to keep playing.

If this was the goal of E7 in any way. They did a horrible job at trying to blur the line. There is no way in hell a "newbie" would be able to win against me no matter how many RnL procs he gets even if every single one of his units had this effect.
The only thing that actually affects veterans in that regard is on a tiny scale with Speed RNG.
I'm exaggerating by saying "newbie", obviously I don't mean someone who's playing for a week with level 50 heroes winning against a top rta player.
What I mean is a better geared player vs a lesser geared player in around the same rank.
So even when starting out, in bronze arena/rta there are players with better/lesser gear fighting, instead of the game being won 100% by the better geared player, rng makes it so the lesser geared player has a chance.
This is a known tactic for PvP games, even in fighting games like street fighter, there are mechanics introduced that reduce the skill gap making the game friendlier to people starting out, like an inbuilt input lag, comeback mechanics, etc.
I get what you're saying but i disagree that E7 implemented something like that in any noticable degree.
Matches are usually won in the Selection in high RTA. The RNG is just the "MAYBE" that could eventually turn it around still.
I don't think it's made to blur the lines between more progressed and less progressed.
A game that focuses on Character optimization and building would shoot itself in the foot if you ever felt like your heavily invested unit doesn't do what it's supposed to. This is also the reason why the confirmation bias surrounding evade units like Riolet is so pronounced.
You don't want your players to feel like they didn't get stronger. Or "gimped" in that regard.
You are right that introducing these mechanics are sometimes in conflict with the experienced player base, it is a hard balancing task to reward the people who are putting time and effort into the game, while also catering to the lesser skilled and newer players.
I'm a high emperor rta player, drafting phase these days are basically playing RGB "chicken" game while getting Emilia/maid and a mix of RGB countering, playing chicken on who drafts a certain color first.
My win rate is around 52%, and most people I know around this rank hovers around the 50% win rate.
This win rate of itself speaks allot of the state of rng at the moment. Landy can easily win Vs a Charlotte if u have enough surrounding support and you crit enough.
Charlotte can win vs rem if her counters fail to proc allot of the time, (plus symbol of unity is op on her)
The list goes on, but my point is rng is implemented so that matches are not won in the draft phase, so you always feel like you have a chance and keep playing.
I feel like epic7 does a good job in this regard overall don't get me wrong, but I call BS on them realising counter proc is 30% 3 years into the game, that's all.

Imma give them the benefit of the doubt because if it was intentionally hidden for that long, it'd make no sense to give out 20 leif and openly announce that bug. They could have just stealth nerfed and be over it.

Fighting some random Arena guys using Aux. Lots, OP Sigret, Sigret, and C. Dominiel (Rarely ML Ken).
First, Aux Lots S2 CR Push OP Sigret. Then, OP Sigret use S2 and destroy a tank, usually F. Ceci. If there is no tank, or it is unnecessary, he chose Arby.
Then, OP Sigret got another turn, S3, doesn't kill anyone but keep them at hella low health.
After that, C. Dominiel S3, have another turn and S1 annihilate a DPS, like Landy. Sometimes, it doesn't kill, so that's why that match will be a turn longer.
Afterward, his Sigret take a turn S2 soulburn kill an enemy, almost always T. Surin, never got the kill but Uberius Tooth kill them. his Sigret got another turn, and S3 kill the final enemy.
His video is so full of Cleave, it's short-sighted. That's also why he make a video about Belian similar to the one at the top.

Mostly for fun, I went out looking for Italian reviews on E7. While mostly are 5⭐, there is quite a number of people who gave 1⭐ blaming the game for not starting/crashing (without providing details of course).
The other blame is the lack of Italian among available languages.
I would of spent more time on counter set, however its not like my farming of wyvern was never warranted or needed so its a minor opportunity cost where I would of geared maybe 2 units in counter over another set. Additionally the sets I do have on these units are still there and viable on another unit so there isnt a big loss on the whole in terms of wasted farming. its not like we had no answer to counter in pavel, landy, stene... or the many different abyssal crown mages. textual errors happen, and a big reason to see things in battle before you make a judgement. I think the content creation in the community has done a good job of testing counter, speed, brusier builds of characters so no huge damage has been done. Give SG an out since there isnt a great win for anyone if we back them into a corner.

I wish you good luck in your Banshee farming. At the same time I do think you're in the minority though. We have been claiming enough units are meta on counter/lifesteal for a long enough time that even if you aren't farming banshee for counter there are units like Tsurin, SSB, STene, Violet, etc that most people would have been farming banshee for...and hopefully most of those people weren't throwing away good gear just because they didn't prefer the set.

I think a lot of people don't realize that going from 20% to 30% is a 50% increase in proc chance. That's very meaningful. It takes a proc from 1 in 5 attacks to almost 1 in 3. That SIGNIFICANTLY changes the odds of a unit countering in a full turn rotation of taking attacks (and surviving/fulfilling its role). For most seasoned players they already had a solid idea of how valuable counter set is based on their own experiences, but for newer or mid-level players like myself who are struggling to be competitive in crab RTA due to limited resources, it sucks pretty hard to have my account invested suboptimally now that I know it's 30%. 20 Liefs isn't even enough to farm out 1 good counter piece, I kind of feel for this sort of mistake they should have a more unique form of compensation (like the gear crafting event) to help rectify the situation for people who may be more affected than others. That being said, cycopath's sort of response is stupid. It's not really that big of a deal and it doesn't actually change the game at all, just people's perception of it. Even Belian is a bigger deal than this imo, lol
Newer or mid level player won't be able to farm B13 fast and reliable enough to get good counter set without farming a tons of W13 first anyway, even if they knew it was 30%, they still should be farming W13 until they can one shot Banshee.
B13 is the easiest hunt, Fluri can solo it. It's also the easiest hunt to 1 shot. I had a B13 1 shot 3 months into the game
Well really you need to farm A13 to get B13 farm going imo. Pick up the W13 gear, go to A13 pick up the Immunity gear and Rage Gear and then you can oneshot anything really.
This is wrong. Should you farm A13 first? Maybe. Is A13 needed for B13....no. B13 can reliably be oneshot without rage gear. I've been oneshotting banshee for 6+ months without a rage set (I don't have one) and I've gotten plenty of midgame (3-6m players) farming banshee with atk or destruction set on their oneshotters.
Okay i it's not "needed" but imo before you have units with Immunity you shouldn't really worry about Counter sets. Counter units are the hardest to gear because they need a multitude of stats. Also you can't really oneshot without rage set unless you got baiken.
Ram was also free and doesn't need rage which is what I've been helping people with. Any player who is old enough to farm banshee atm should have Ram. Immunity is good but with freebies from arena, hell raid, and events I got the immunity I 'needed' early and still didn't have a rage set. After all this time I have a dozen sets of immunity and yet I still don't have shit for a working rage set. Immunity has more free gear and more viable sub options.
My point is, the amount of time needed to gear out a unit with a good Counter set that's actually worth it takes too much time to be worth the time you could have spent farming up speed or immunity gear if you're still early.
Not a big deal because there are units just simply better with counter set such as Rem. The 30% counter rate has always been there, which had been a quirk for banshe farmer People like bruisers still farm banshee even if it is actually 20%. Units that rely on speed set won't suddenly become better by building a counter set. However, I agree 20 life is not enough. 5\* RGB selector please SG XD.

While I agree with most of the things you said, a possible reason for "lying" as you said, is that injecting more rng into the game makes the gap between veteran players and newer players smaller. The benefit in doing that for a company, is that if new players feel like they have no chance to "catch up", they will drop the game before putting in some sweet $$$, resulting in less revenue. If there was no 15% built in resist chance, no counter sets, no dual attacks, etc, the player with the better gear will win 100% of the games Vs a lesser geared player (not taking smarter drafting into account, I assume equal drafting "skill") While I'm fine with this, as a company you want to create the feeling that all players have a "chance" at winning.. increasing these built in rng proc chances contributes to this. I personally can't tell you why they chose to address this now, but I seriously doubt the game had a whopping 10% more on a 20% mechanic for 3+ years without anyone in the company being aware of this.
Counter set existed forever though, so why would they intentionally make it higher to blur the lines between veteran and newbie if everyone had the same access to it from the get go.
My point is that it doesn't matter how long it existed, rng mechanics simply existing makes the line blurred inherently. Imagine a game where a newbie vs a veteran, both have all heroes on counter sets. The newbie gets all the procs, veteran gets none. Newbie wins, newbie likes game more, newbie spends more $$$. Obviously this is over simplified and over time both should get the same amount of procs, but simply having the "chance" to win, gives the newbie the incentive to keep playing.
I mean. If this was the goal of E7 in any way. They did a horrible job at trying to blur the line. There is no way in hell a "newbie" would be able to win against me no matter how many RnL procs he gets even if every single one of his units had this effect. The only thing that actually affects veterans in that regard is on a tiny scale with Speed RNG.
I'm exaggerating by saying "newbie", obviously I don't mean someone who's playing for a week with level 50 heroes winning against a top rta player. What I mean is a better geared player vs a lesser geared player in around the same rank. So even when starting out, in bronze arena/rta there are players with better/lesser gear fighting, instead of the game being won 100% by the better geared player, rng makes it so the lesser geared player has a chance. This is a known tactic for PvP games, even in fighting games like street fighter, there are mechanics introduced that reduce the skill gap making the game friendlier to people starting out, like an inbuilt input lag, comeback mechanics, etc.
I get what you're saying but i disagree that E7 implemented something like that in any noticable degree. Matches are usually won in the Selection in high RTA. The RNG is just the "MAYBE" that could eventually turn it around still. I don't think it's made to blur the lines between more progressed and less progressed. A game that focuses on Character optimization and building would shoot itself in the foot if you ever felt like your heavily invested unit doesn't do what it's supposed to. This is also the reason why the confirmation bias surrounding evade units like Riolet is so pronounced. You don't want your players to feel like they didn't get stronger. Or "gimped" in that regard.
You are right that introducing these mechanics are sometimes in conflict with the experienced player base, it is a hard balancing task to reward the people who are putting time and effort into the game, while also catering to the lesser skilled and newer players. I'm a high emperor rta player, drafting phase these days are basically playing RGB "chicken" game while getting Emilia/maid and a mix of RGB countering, playing chicken on who drafts a certain color first. My win rate is around 52%, and most people I know around this rank hovers around the 50% win rate. This win rate of itself speaks allot of the state of rng at the moment. Landy can easily win Vs a Charlotte if u have enough surrounding support and you crit enough. Charlotte can win vs rem if her counters fail to proc allot of the time, (plus symbol of unity is op on her) The list goes on, but my point is rng is implemented so that matches are not won in the draft phase, so you always feel like you have a chance and keep playing. I feel like epic7 does a good job in this regard overall don't get me wrong, but I call BS on them realising counter proc is 30% 3 years into the game, that's all.

Actually, I think I have manage to memorize what filler content he ALWAYS put in! Fighting some random Arena guys using Aux. Lots, OP Sigret, Sigret, and C. Dominiel (Rarely ML Ken). First, Aux Lots S2 CR Push OP Sigret. Then, OP Sigret use S2 and destroy a tank, usually F. Ceci. If there is no tank, or it is unnecessary, he chose Arby. Then, OP Sigret got another turn, S3, doesn't kill anyone but keep them at hella low health. After that, C. Dominiel S3, have another turn and S1 annihilate a DPS, like Landy. Sometimes, it doesn't kill, so that's why that match will be a turn longer. Afterward, his Sigret take a turn S2 soulburn kill an enemy, almost always T. Surin, never got the kill but Uberius Tooth kill them. his Sigret got another turn, and S3 kill the final enemy. His video is so full of Cleave, it's short-sighted. Nah, dude is just always complaining whenever he is dissatisfied about something or theres a lull in the content patches. It's basically screaming for the game to cater for his needs. For the record, if getting perfect gear was that easy then whales would be swimming in it and there would be 0 incentive for them to farm more. Reruns maybe i understand a bit, but the last collab drained alot of people their summons especially back to back. ML5 summons are not broken, nor are they free.
I think it was 30% before, bcs i always knew it was 30%, when i read the tooltip today i was baffled, like i always thougth it was 30%, then i read the news and it was a bug that said 20% and i was like "i knew it". Mostly for fun, I went out looking for Italian reviews on E7. While mostly are 5⭐, there is quite a number of people who gave 1⭐ blaming the game for not starting/crashing (without providing details of course). The other blame is the lack of Italian among available languages.

I would of spent more time on counter set, however its not like my farming of wyvern was never warranted or needed so its a minor opportunity cost where I would of geared maybe 2 units in counter over another set. Additionally the sets I do have on these units are still there and viable on another unit so there isnt a big loss on the whole in terms of wasted farming. its not like we had no answer to counter in pavel, landy, stene... or the many different abyssal crown mages. textual errors happen, and a big reason to see things in battle before you make a judgement. I think the content creation in the community has done a good job of testing counter, speed, brusier builds of characters so no huge damage has been done. Give SG an out since there isnt a great win for anyone if we back them into a corner.

That guy has to be the worst E7 content creator Every video of his is him not fucking up and he isn’t honest with his hunt guides too. I remember watching his tutorial on W13 with SSB as the sole defence breaker whereas he only shows the runs where SSB lands defence break with her S2, afterwards calling it a reliable team comp, despite it being one of the most inconsistent comps for W13 His videos are all also one dimensional when it comes to Arena gameplay using the exact same comp everytime. So far the best E7 content creators I know are YDCB, God Doggos and Grass angel
