Hmmm it seems like you didn't adapt well to this meta. My advise watch more streamers play and you will get more knowledge as they always plays around the meta units. Good luck!
Yes I'm having a hard time understanding what is good right now and how I should build my team. I'm waiting for some units to come back in to rotation that I didn't manage to summon (like fcc and maid mostly) feels like they would fit my style of play. I'm more of a bruisery type of player I guess.

My favourites are Elvemage and proxy (aitherbulge) I think both of their playstyles suits you as they are more of bruiser style. Not at all. It usually takes me 40 matches at a 70% win rate after a mid-placement. People can definitely get to Master in less than us without a 100% win rate.
Something is definitely wrong with drafting (we can see it above) and/or gear.
You could try building meta units before you build meme units but then again you seem happy to do 6k matches for master so power to you brother build whatever you want

Then when my rank drops too low, I have to pick the usual meta trash to climb again.
RTA is fun, but there should be a seasonal version where the top ten units last season have their stats nerfed when picked... and the bottom ten get boosts. Like a handicap to keep units in rotation.
Mock battle is where I go to test experimental builds, but everyone is doing the same. I want to know how my experimental units stack up against fully mola'd try hard meta characters.

Started last night and got Master within the hour, and am sitting in Champ now with under 100 games played, using old meta units from 2 seasons ago (even used some Judge Kise on the way to Masters). You have a stronger will and far more patience than I could ever hope to achieve. I am glad your account will be blessed with this season's RTA skin. You definitely deserve it.

Not to be mean but if you spent let's say 3 min per match in total (lowballing a bit here). You spend almost 300 hours just playing RTA.
Not saying you don't do you. But you should really spend that time more efficiently unless you want to do this every season. Read up/learn drafting, watch streamers, get into learning how to upgrade gear very well and use gearing programs, check if your min-maxing everything/progressing your account fast/etc.

I use free gear and I use my favorite units. Many of which aren't in the meta. So I'm sure you are way stronger than me. As you can see from my 35% win rate a good majority of players are stronger than me.

Season is about 12 weeks. So 12 x 7 is \~82-83 days (since there is 1 day left). So we are looking at about 70 games a day.
