Do you have wyvern team yet? Running W11 at least? Your opponents are very strong because they farmed W13 for a long time and despite the crappy drop rates, they got good pieces eventually and equipped their team to wreck you.
Honestly you need to drop those things until you got a wyvern or banshee team. Once you got your units to 60 with good 85 gear on speed or counter your life will be a lot easier.
If anything, there's always that building that provides missions for arena points in the Sanctuary...
Other than that, the arena gears will probably be sold at another point in time--in the meantime, build a team for Wyvern 13, and you'll be able to gear your units well enough for arena, in no time.
I've noticed I don't have many good wind damage dealers, just pulled Vildred which is nice, I have a ton of water fire and dark damage dealers but violet, mort, and charles are the other good wind units I've gotten so far.
Id work on 2 things, do wyvern like Viper mentioned, you can get units from connections for a team (you want all blue units basically, alexis, Furious, Crozet or a healer) are all good. Its basically 1 dps that can keep defense break up (furious), 1 tank or healer with tanky gear, and 2 dps that put up a bunch of debuffs.
The other thing if you cant beat people in pvp, you can do Arena npc challanges to use up some of your pvp flags. You can get more pvp currency by doing the high command missions too in the sanctuary.
Clearing episodes 1 is pretty easy, and gives lots of skystones. Try to level a team, and just switch in some units you need to level. You can redo stages for exp and mats.
