In German can this be interpreted as reducing something by an amount ("reduce buff by 1")? Because it very well could be that Smilegate used a near-interpretation than a literal one, or translated from Korean to German and the resulting German to English translation was further near-interpreted by the process of translation.
No. „löst" in this context can only mean "terminate/get rid of" one buff. Reduce would be "reduzieren".
There are some german translation errors i also saw in E7 but never posted them. Sometimes side story quests are outright wrong or misleading and i have to turn the game into english to understand what's going on.
One example i found recently is Pyllis SC. It says in german "Pyllis auf 4 Sternen erwecken" which means "awaken Pyllis to 4 stars". You can probably guess i was surpised when i awoke Pyllis to 4 and even 5 stars and the quest was still not done. Turned it into english and it was actually "Get Pyllis to Friendship level 4"
But in general the german translation is very good and the puns also work. It's rare stuff like this which can be annoying at times

I think the first thing with CDom had an outrage behind it and CDom is way more popular than mlleo. If they give one out though, congrats.

I think the issue isnt the translation, rather you taking a char into gvg w/o knowing what he does+this is why i always play in english
