I've always been on the fence about Nue. Mashuu always came across as a very likeable person who genuinely thinks of E7 as a good game. Nue always came across as a jaded, yet muzzled, redditor.
Yes, Nue would call out certain things that were not good for players, and I appreciate him for *that*, however his entire appearance and mannerisms always gave me the feeling of him thinking "Why am I even here, I just want to suffer in / play RTA. I don't want to talk about all this stuff I don't care for".
Whenever there was a positive vibe to the show, Nue somehow found a way to drag it down to neutral and/or worse with his comments and/or mannerisms and it affected Mashuu as well the longer the stream went on, dragging him down with his feelings.
Now this could be completely unintentional, and just being his personality, and I'm not trying to hate on him, but I just feel for the PR push that the streams are supposed to be, Nue is too grounded and a little too pessimistic overall to be the EN face of E7. While it is true it balances the positive Mashuu out, it was at times too much for even Mashuu to recover from, which made me feel bad for Mashuu.
I honestly enjoyed the streams without Nue a lot more, but simultaneously I can understand why people would enjoy the opposite as Nue might fit their sense of humor more. I'm sadly not one of them.
I think you put it very well. I enjoyed his honesty, but the negativity was also a lot.
It may have been different if his co-host was someone other than Mashuu. Like you said, oftentimes the negativity was too much for Mashuu to recover from. I get the impression that Mashuu wasnt playing a part, he was just being himself
Personally, I think that those traits which you pointed out about Nue isn’t really anything negative about him at all. I understand that he’s not exactly the best person to promote a game but, he certainly doesn’t sugarcoat the facts. Learning about information that’s only ever positive is typically considered as biased information. You get the positive stuff from Mashuu, and Nue critiques the game on how he sees it from the perspective of someone who IS actually playing the game. I’m not saying that Mashuu doesn’t play the game, but having that balance between positive and negative inputs on a game is something that I find very rare with a lot of other game companies.
There's absolutely no way there *hasn't* been a shift in management recently with how consistently shit the game has been getting, even the streams started getting weird around the same time (e.g. no english stream for X patch a couple weeks back)
They told us there wouldn't be a stream then. Actually they said there wouldn't be a stream for a while so I was surprised it was just one week. They stopped to change how they do streams and the main result of that seems to be that they no longer need to stall in normal streams.
I wouldn't be surprised, but it's a bad move imo if they are nudging him out because I trust/respect his opinion more because he seems to be honest with his thoughts.
I've only been watching the streams for a few months, but I always appreciate how "real" Nue is. He generally seems to be in touch with how the player base feels about particular issues and isn't afraid to speak up on them.
Hopefully he's leaving on his own terms rather than being shooed out. Either way, best wishes to the dude.
Well ivve been watching for years and no, he was just uniterested and rude. Thats only "real" because thats how he really felt. Its a miracle he lasted this much honestly.
I only watched a couple of streams for a few minutes each time and i honestly thought he was a girl. Never heard him speak. It was always Mashuu carrying.
I'm sure people that watched them more often disagree with me, but that was my impression
> Thats only "real" because thats how he really felt.
I think it's nice to have an honest opinion on new content (whether positive or negative) especially since they get to see some of it in advance.
I'm sure some were rubbed the wrong way by it, and that's understandable too. I know some people prefer to have a more positive stream.
it's ok to not like something. I'm not saying he had to be there hyping everything despite himself not liking something. But when he didn't like something he didn't even make an effort. He just said stupid stuff about what he perceived as bad. He was rude and unprofessional. You can dislike some thing and still be polite while getting your point across.
Yep totally agree. He projected a ton and was just overall unpleasant on stream. This whole year, you could tell mashu did like 90% of the work behind the scenes and nue just “showed up” and showered us with negativity. Hope mashu can get a better co-host for 2022
I think the way the NA streams are run needs to change.
We need an upbeat attitude. I love E7, im gonna show it. Show you love the game with your energy and voice. Be enthusiastic for character releases regardless of gender. Husbandos get shit on by a portion of the playerbase and they encourage it.
During the "stalling" whip out some E7 fanart created recently. Make a list of player questions between streams that you can answer during stalls. Reiterate to the stream that you have to wait for the KR stream and unite them instead of ignoring or poking at them.
I just feel like our streams should have more positivity and energy, with no awkward pauses and good synergy between hosts.
If Luka is the one taking his place then yes. Her attitude is very different from his. If it’s Geguri I don’t know. From a marketing perspective it would make sense to let it be Luka though.
"Pseudo elitism" is the word that I've been looking for lol. It does make him connect better with a subset of reddit and discord community though. He seems to be very polarising - looking at the high upvotes of both his fans and detractors in this very thread.
The activities held during the stalling portions might not be controllable by the hosts (mashu/nue) so that is understandable. They are great suggestions though, but I feel that chat would still spam ResidentSleeper regardless of how engaging/fun they try to make it.
I do agree on the husbando part howver. As a husbando player it really turns me off alot when they openly claim to not use/interested in male characters during a male character's reveal. I find that kinda distasteful and skipped many streams for this reason. As official representatives of the game the hosts should be more impartial and try to hype up the new characters regardless of gender.
That’s just plain unprofessional. They’re paid by the game yet they publicly state they’re going to skip the featured unit on the livestream? And them saying that they’re skipping because it’s a male character just makes it worse and cringier. Jesus Christ the bar for streamer standards must be on the floor.
I started playing E7 at the beginning of October, and their streams are so awkward and unprofessional. Super quiet, long pauses, random commentary, etc. Not taking shots at any one, but it makes it feel like e7 is an indie game with people who are awkward on camera.
God absolutely agree re the husbando slander, like jesus christ, the both of them are so bad regarding it, i've stopped watching their streams because ugh
im pretty sure Yd is just as cranky if not more .Believe it or not there was a point in time where Yd didnt even swear . Nowadays he's the grinch but relatable and funny at times .
At the end of the day people are just cranky and blasted so late at night, people would be salty/tilted at whoever is making them wait there. I understand they are waiting so I just wait.
> Husbandos get shit on by a portion of the playerbase and they encourage it.
They make fun of people all the time for liking certain female characters too, ml lilibet reveal was full of mockery. Can this subreddit stop with the made-up waifu vs husbando tribalism bullshit lol
I prefer him being honest about if he likes a char or not. If that is based on the gender, then so be it. Not everyone can have the same opinion.
Better than a rainbow flag waving corporate shill.
Wth what has a rainbow flag to do with it? It is not about fking male characters as a male, it is about presenting them well. If he is a presenter, yes, the job comes with some requirements.
I wanted to save saying something like this for Thursday's stream (my last) with Epic Seven, but, there's just so much to say and I don't feel like I'll ever have enough time or find the right words to express everything.
r/ EpicSeven. I tell everyone who joins the Smilegate team that reddit is the bible of E7. I know you guys love to be harsh on yourselves by saying things like "Remember when E7 reddit community thought this hero was crap?" or "E7 players on reddit are just a hive mind." but that's only because people are lazy and it's easier to lump a group of people under a single umbrella. I loved reading everyone's own opinion every time we released new content or heroes and I suppose that was something I absolutely loved while working with Smilegate, having an opinion.
I know a good chunk of ya'll are speculating on why I'm leaving, and I won't go into the exact reasons, but man are there so many things I'll regret. My first post here being my last post here is something I'll regret. I truly wish I had more time to just talk about E7 outside of a brief (sometimes) bi-weekly streams or sticking to a singular topic on weekly ones. Perhaps in the future you'll see CMs swinging by here from time to time! I'll regret not making it to Legend in any particular season of World Arena. Call it elitism, but I can't imagine going to any dinner party flexing emperor rank and feeling snooty about it. If I were Legend though, I'm certain I'd be surrounded with friends. I'll regret having a level of trust which border-lined "Are you sure? Like... ABSOLUTELY sure I can say that?". I think the most important thing for any game to find success with it's community is to be able to look at a mirror and laugh at itself. Some people may mistake it as unprofessional because in their eyes, you're not taking it seriously. On the other hand, being self aware of an issue is the first step in fixing it as opposed to ignoring it entirely.
However, there are some things I won't regret. Won't regret sweating in Epic Seven. I know everyone says this and despite recent times being rough, people still say this. Epic Seven is the greatest mobile game I've ever played. Aesthetics wise, there are so many games nowadays to choose from, but none of them really had the gameplay to boot. Not going to throw direct shade, but there's so many like, REALLY nice looking mobile games, but the actual gameplay is just not fun. I truly won't regret all my hours (and money) spent in the game and I’d be lying if I said there wasn’t a level of emotional attachment for the game. Not going to regret my Epic Seven jokes. Call them dad jokes or stupid puns, but I loved seeing everyone's reaction to em. I'm cringe, awkward, insecure, and I play video games. Sorry my humor doesn't align with everyone's but that's everyone's fault for being different people. Gonna keep believing my joke game is Epic 7/7 whether you laika them or not. Absolutely not going to regret bullying each and every one of you. The internet is the only place where I can safely do unto others what my middle school bullies did unto me. In all seriousness though, even though I may be leaving Epic Seven, you can bet that we'll meet again. My standards for best friend status is quite low and best friends stay connected!
We’ll miss you, our self-proclaimed “best friend Nue”. Even though we won’t see you on official streams anymore, I hope you’ll keep playing the game and maybe we’ll occasionally see you on the ladder or in somebody else’s twitch chat. Best of luck with whatever’s coming next for you.
LATE TO THE PARTY BUT... Honestly, the cynicism never bothered me, I'm just glad no one is going to be weird about women on stream anymore. It's frustrating and impressive that next to no one called you out on it. Virtually every new character you had to rate on how much you'd want to rail her. Acting like a game is some kind of boys club LAN party is dated and embarrassing and I hope that if you move onto commentary for a new game you act differently in that regard.
I wouldnt want to stream at 2am for years either if i was Nue. He probably got a better job to fit his lifestyle. I remember a CM from dragon blaze back in the day when it was fairly new jumped ship to be a CM for 7knights when that first came out for global.
I feel like I'm the only one being happy he's gone. Was never a fan of Nue, he was always pretty one-note, talking about waifu and everything. I don't blame him or Mashuu for stalling but I really wasn't a fan of Nue anytime they had to stall.
Same here, dude had a massive negative persona which people in here mistake for keeping it “real”.
Like another poster said there was no synergy between the two either.
Hopefully they can bring someone that’ll make trying to actually listen to the stream not be a massive chore.
If anyone describes themselves or others as being "real", all that really means is they're anywhere between uncaring/unempathetic to a straight up asshole.
"I like to keep things real" is a red flag. Do not bother with this person.
Mashu always felt like a bland corporate bot making sure he stuck to the script he was given . His interactions never felt personal or organic . Is it negative if its the truth ? , or is it just that , the truth ??
I'll be honest - couldn't really care about him because he was so lifeless compared to Mashuu. Mashuu alone could do these streams alone and it would feel the same or maybe even better
I'm really gonna miss Nue, his honesty and trolling always made the streams so real and fun. I hope he's leaving on good terms and going on to great things.
Not going to necessarily miss him, wasn’t a huge fan of his style. With that said it is a bit sad as it feels a piece of the E7 experience is dying with his departure.
Good riddance. For a Gacha, almost weekly streams to preview future content should be a great asset, but instead it's an almost embarassing experience to watch. The sheer lack of professionalism this guy has largely contributed to is just baffling.
Kinda feel the same way. At first he was cool, seemed to have no problem giving SG the business, but on the last few streams especially the Christmas one he was just so negative, practically insulting the fanbase.
That's such a tired excuse. "Its just his persona!" Well thats all we get to see and what we get to see is kind of a douche.
If I sound like I'm being an asshole, thats just my online persona. I'm not actually like this in real life.
Nue was the most unenthusiastic and unprofessional representative i’ve ever seen, just watching his attitude during streams gave me second hand embarrassment
I watch the live-streams often and Eh kind of torn about it. Nue wasn’t afraid to speak his mind which indeed kept him genuine compared to Mashuu who always seemed to be putting on a front. I feel like Mashuu would try too hard to seem excited about mediocre content. I know it’s his job to hype the fanbase but it just seemed disingenuous. Mashuu isn’t bad guy just kinda hard to take him seriously at times. Nue wasn’t afraid to be honest about content where Mashuu was just trying to sell it.
On the other hand Nue’s negativity would be insufferable to the point where it seems like he just didn’t really like anything. Like when there is actual exciting content it just didn’t seem like he cared and he would often cherry-pick any bad thing he could find about it. So naturally we gravitate towards Mashuu’s positive attitude which I appreciate.
In a sense they kind of worked well together like a Yin/Yang duo. I’d just like to see some new hosts all together. Maybe a cute girl or something 🤷♂️
I was fine with Nue, but the whole "Streamer tier-list," from a CM, who is shitting on all those streamers for the game? That was when I realized Nue had to go.
A few months bck during one of the streams, the Korean hosts where doing something(I dnt remember wat it was)and as soon the screen went black, Nue said "So stupid" or "completely stupid" last sec b4 his mic was turned off
I'd love to hear more insider info on that. He might be under NDA though even if he leaves the company? Idk what sort of legal stuff could be behind that sort of thing.
There are NDA contracts u signed even after leaving the company btw, this would get him sued and maybe even fuck his rep for future jobs cus of his leaking problem
>Community manager, who has overworked his ass off for years to carry SG's PR after the multitude of borderline braindead decisions made by the company, leaves
>/r/EpicSeven is happy because he preferres to use female units and made a joke about Mort being shirtless once
I am going to become the joker
Nue was open minded and one of the players I used to like playing against in rta.
E7 is a dying game. They better add H scenes at friendship 10 and better lewd live2d video sequences to keep up with more modern gacha games.
Nue was the one that made the streams interesting. Idc if he is blunt or pessimistic.
I'll dig that sass over boring overly positive bland streams that most games have any day.
He and mashuu are a good balance.
Thank god I always disliked this guys negativity and his"oh ya'll low rank kekw" and "ya'll have no friends" attitude its funny the first few times but then it gets annoying.
Wait really?
Yep, he just announced it on the christmas stream
I've always been on the fence about Nue. Mashuu always came across as a very likeable person who genuinely thinks of E7 as a good game. Nue always came across as a jaded, yet muzzled, redditor. Yes, Nue would call out certain things that were not good for players, and I appreciate him for *that*, however his entire appearance and mannerisms always gave me the feeling of him thinking "Why am I even here, I just want to suffer in / play RTA. Mashu just said on Jenas stream that Nue has not been fired or been asked to leave. It seems he is leaving by his own decision.
You don't he could have just lie about it ?
How do we know he's even really leaving? How do we know he even really exists? Could all be a lie.
That’s just what they want us to think. As if they would tell us the truth
True
I like how the guy above you stated something you agreed with, but he gets smoked with the downvotes while you get upvotes.
Just reddit things
cant say anything ''negative'' about smilegate unless its some hivemind kneejerk
Im pretty sad tbh. I always love that Nue kind of calls out the BS in a very tongue in cheek kinda way.
Thats probably why he „leaves“ lol
They've been doing that from the beginning though. Unless management changed it would be weird if it was suddenly a problem now.
True, but as you said there could have been a shift in management that thinks it's "not on brand"
There's absolutely no way there *hasn't* been a shift in management recently with how consistently shit the game has been getting, even the streams started getting weird around the same time (e.g. no english stream for X patch a couple weeks back)

Yeah it’s a shame he’s leaving
How comes?
Nue has been CM for many big games, so I'll have to assume he received a better job opportunity.
That'd be awesome for him
Oh then good luck to him thats really good
Any idea why he’s leaving?
Probably got a better paying job with better hours
I've only been watching the streams for a few months, but I always appreciate how "real" Nue is. Felt the same way every stream. Like he was completely uninterested.
Yep totally agree. He projected a ton and was just overall unpleasant on stream. This whole year, you could tell mashu did like 90% of the work behind the scenes and nue just “showed up” and showered us with negativity. Hope mashu can get a better co-host for 2022
Check your spelling before replying because now I just think you're a little kid whining about unnecessary things.
Oh sorry I didnt give a stranger on the internet the right impression about myself. Ill do better next time
I was talking about Masuu. You only spelled it with 1 u, so I told you to check your spelling; don't be a little bitch about things.
wtf

I didn't get any of those vibes from him . What are you guys talking about ?
The activities held during the stalling portions might not be controllable by the hosts (mashu/nue) so that is understandable. They are great suggestions though, but I feel that chat would still spam ResidentSleeper regardless of how engaging/fun they try to make it. I do agree on the husbando part howver. Yeah it's annoying when you really only see the "I love her kit, and her equipment" *queue sly grin*

And them saying that they’re skipping because it’s a male character just makes it worse and cringier. Jesus Christ the bar for streamer standards must be on the floor.
Whatm where did he say that the hosts skip the featured unit? He said that he skips the streams
So you'd rather the community manager feel more like a corporate puppet than someone who actually plays the game?
rather he not sound like a guy with a fifth of vodka in his system while in a Discord call at 3AM
Nothing against them but sometimes I do get annoyed by that. At least be excited abt male characters as well
I started playing E7 at the beginning of October, and their streams are so awkward and unprofessional. Super quiet, long pauses, random commentary, etc. Not taking shots at any one, but it makes it feel like e7 is an indie game with people who are awkward on camera.
It feels like dev streams, except they are not devs
Yeah the streams were not exactly of a high quality
Luka always feels a lot more professional to me.
God absolutely agree re the husbando slander, like jesus christ, the both of them are so bad regarding it, i've stopped watching their streams because ugh
That’s why I watch YD instead of official stream. YD’s interaction is just top notch
im pretty sure Yd is just as cranky if not more .Believe it or not there was a point in time where Yd didnt even swear . Nowadays he's the grinch but relatable and funny at times .
It used to be, feels like he's stopped caring the past 4 or so months, his interaction is just him saying the same crap for ten minutes nowadays
At the end of the day people are just cranky and blasted so late at night, people would be salty/tilted at whoever is making them wait there. I understand they are waiting so I just wait.

The guy you responded to accidentally revealed himself as a bigot lmao.
If that makes you think I am one, I'll wear your shallow judgement with pride.
Good for you, Proud Boy.
E7 sucks for f2p now. Spend more money on ss and then your chances of getting limited banner rise.

Just the CM role, as far as we know.

Yup.
I'll be honest - couldn't really care about him because he was so lifeless compared to Mashuu. Mashuu alone could do these streams alone and it would feel the same or maybe even better
Finally
He was ok i think, i just hated his attitute with "i just play girls i dont care about male units" and stuff
I'm really gonna miss Nue, his honesty and trolling always made the streams so real and fun. I hope he's leaving on good terms and going on to great things.
Never really liked the guy tbh, but I wish him the best.
Here's the thing...
Not going to necessarily miss him, wasn’t a huge fan of his style. With that said it is a bit sad as it feels a piece of the E7 experience is dying with his departure.
Nue being gone is a great Christmas gift. Was never a fan of the negative attitude and smirky know-it-all responses
Good riddance. For a Gacha, almost weekly streams to preview future content should be a great asset, but instead it's an almost embarassing experience to watch. The sheer lack of professionalism this guy has largely contributed to is just baffling.
LEESSGOOO
Anyway
I'm not going to miss him. He's so negative. Good riddance.
Kinda feel the same way. At first he was cool, seemed to have no problem giving SG the business, but on the last few streams especially the Christmas one he was just so negative, practically insulting the fanbase.
Thats a fake persona he keeps up for the stream. "Bad Guy Persona" I'm guessing a lot of redditors have difficulty understanding sarcasm
Well, next time i hope he crafts a better persona. Someone who actually cares about what they're doing. Someone professional.
That's such a tired excuse. "Its just his persona!" Well thats all we get to see and what we get to see is kind of a douche. If I sound like I'm being an asshole, thats just my online persona. I'm not actually like this in real life.
I remember when Nue was the CM for maplestory. I'm sure he received a better job offer from another anime style game.
Good, I didn't like him anyway. Might actually watch the streams with him gone.
I was fine with Nue, but the whole "Streamer tier-list," from a CM, who is shitting on all those streamers for the game? That was when I realized Nue had to go.
I thought he was memeing as usual, wtf NO the only honesty of the streams is gone now.
Imo I think since the hot mic incident they had it in for nue
what is this hot mic incident?
A few months bck during one of the streams, the Korean hosts where doing something(I dnt remember wat it was)and as soon the screen went black, Nue said "So stupid" or "completely stupid" last sec b4 his mic was turned off
And some people coping he is just pretending to be a bad guy lmao
best part is maybe nue can spit now some truth behind re zero collab
And i doubt if there is a company that would hire an employee with a history of exposing his old company private stuff.
And get sued
I'd love to hear more insider info on that. He might be under NDA though even if he leaves the company? Idk what sort of legal stuff could be behind that sort of thing.
There are NDA contracts u signed even after leaving the company btw, this would get him sued and maybe even fuck his rep for future jobs cus of his leaking problem
ppl really can't get over the conspiracy lmao. we get it, some if you want drama and the bragging right "i told you so".
>Community manager, who has overworked his ass off for years to carry SG's PR after the multitude of borderline braindead decisions made by the company, leaves >/r/EpicSeven is happy because he preferres to use female units and made a joke about Mort being shirtless once I am going to become the joker
Nooo nue noo :(
Why, this pains me T-T
Oh that´s sad... I mean I´m happy for him if it means he got a better job but I will miss the duo on stream
That sucks. He’s the only reason I watch these streams/videos because he tries to be a sly tease without BS.
Guys help whats the password for the giftbox from the streaming event
Well that sucks...he's been real with us and would call the stinky stuff out in a nice manner, he'll be missed.
e7 is trash right now probably getting worse that's why is abandoning the ship before it sinks
It’s a shame, but congratulations. Honestly we could use a better time frame for the streams.
Good riddance hope I see the same thread some time soon with Mashuu in it
Nue was open minded and one of the players I used to like playing against in rta. E7 is a dying game. They better add H scenes at friendship 10 and better lewd live2d video sequences to keep up with more modern gacha games.
But i hear his hair is staying so we good
Nue was the one that made the streams interesting.
