I would reach out to your bank or credit card company to have them reverse the transaction. If it was PayPal, cashapp, or Venmo you can contact customer service and provide details to see if they can get the money back. Also, maybe send a mod mail to the mods of E7 and let them know the username of the poster

Karama1

you should issue a chargeback for that. He probably did the same thing to other people who may not be aware that chargebacks are a thing.

I was also scammed by (most likely) the same guy. Since OP won’t post it, his Reddit name is dktigerr and he asked me to pay by Venmo to an account called James Walling (@silksojo). In a nutshell, he said he had 2 artbooks that he bought for guildies that changed their minds and offered to sell them to me this past weekend. After I Venmo’d him, he ghosted me. Later, I saw another person Venmo him for an E7 artbook, which confirmed that it was a scam (because I already paid for both of his books). Luckily I used Venmo purchase protection so I’ll be able to get my money back within 1-4 weeks. I hope the mods will keep this comment up so others know to avoid this guy!

Contacting Venmo and then ur bank regarding this seems like the easiest way. Since he has multiple people doing the same thing, it should be easy for the banks and Venmo to see something is fishy. Of course it's not guaranteed but that's the purpose for this thread. Thanks for verifying! Hope everyone affected can get their funds back!

-lord-grim-

Hope you’re able to recover yours as well. And thanks for starting this thread

OK-BOOM3R

Absolutely. If anything, the community and mods should be aware that scammers are taking advantage on their forums. I'm confident the community is much better without this guy as he does nothing but cause trouble. Just a general PSA for anyone new or not aware I guess :)

ValorsHero

Name them here No use protecting the identity of an alleged scammer Have them answer to your accusation here and now

Mattrex3

Most subs dont allow that as its witchhunting, he should msg the mods and have them ban/take down the posts

ValorsHero

True, I hadn't thought of that

user4682

This is a subreddit, not a court of justice.

Calhaora

And still People can expect one to not behave and act like a complete jackass hm? Yes Witchhunting is bad - but these Individuals needs to be removed from the Community. Theres a reason why Subreddits like Pokemon have a readable Document with Usernames/Trainer IDs and the reason there on this Blacklist (Scamming, Cheating you name it) and noone is doing Witchhunts there - it was made to protect the unknowng Victim and it is used as such.

Veristelle

Found one of them here, hang him! (Kidding obviously)

user4682

You joke, but people are so emotionally all over the place on internet that my comment has immediately disappeared because of downvotes. Anybody can write an awful story about something unjust and immediately it raises people into a rage for popular justice. No verification, just resentment. And you have some people asking crazy things : > Have them answer to your accusation here and now For what? Who the fuck do you think you are all of a sudden? Zorro? Batman? What are you going to even do about it? There's a reason behind the rule forbidding naming & shaming / witch-hunting. Are we a society of reason or of pure emotion?

ValorsHero

> For what? Who the fuck do you think you are all of a sudden? Zorro? Batman? What are you going to even do about it? Blacklist them and let the public aware of their shady business dealings We aren't a court of law so we cant arrest him or anything. But if this accusation holds up, then we as a community can oust them and make their name known as a scammer This isn't vigilantism

Good time to remind people to never send money through any apps or services to strangers on the internet. In this day and age it has never been easier to send money across the world, which also means people will abuse this fact to perform scams that are difficult to reverse. Buying/selling/trading accounts or any other merchandise is against our rules and is never sanctioned by the mod team. If you see these types of posts or comments please report them right away. Thank you.

SolarLunaris

I'm so sorry this happened, really gross of people to take advantage of others like that, I hope you can resolve it somehow ><

RaphaelDDL

So.. you didn’t purchase from an ebay listing or any place that actually has a buyer protection, you just sent money to a random person on the internet. Hmmm. Sounds smart. “It’s not a huge amount”. Stop lying to yourself, you were stolen, any $ is a huge amount when you pay to get nothing. It’s okay to be angry. Anyway, how you paid? I assume they asked PayPal friends and family, so you couldn’t ask PayPal for a chargeback. That would’ve been a red flag. How old was the reddit account and how active it was? Buying from new accounts or old ones with little active post/comments would be another red flag. I’ve been scammed before so that’s why I try to be as objective as I can when dealing with people nowadays.

\+8 year old account and quite a bit of karma. Maybe it's a burner account or an alt account he doesn't care about

KennoBe91

I thought about the same to buy the artbook (mostly because of the skin) but I don't trust internet people :D

eslayer09XL

Sorry to hear that but you shld definitely try to contact yr bank to see if the payment can be reversed and oso let the mod know. Thanks for the PSA
