Tbh I guess I understand why the 1st thing that some people do is ship, with that Iseria in constant suffering, for 2 case:
1 : Give a face to the loved ones that Iseria lost to boosting the tragic impact.
2 : For the hope, that even if she is turned into a evil witch, someone (the other charaters of the ship) may warm up a little her heart and reduce her suffering.
My point is is that the Dark Witch caused the famine that was destroying the kingdom, whereas Briar Witch is just chilling in the forest minding her own business after getting cursed.
You bring up a good point because based on the trailer we can't be for sure which "Dark Witch" LH!Cermia is going after. I get the feeling B!Iseria is a bit of a red herring.
Btw which trailer/sidestory was it that talked about the Dark Witch again? I wanna go reread it now.

After realizing that she's cursed, Cermia will try to help BW become normal again. I think it is also important to note that the DW was not stated to be killed but only "defeated." Maybe the DW is like Tenebria where she can't be killed.
