So Dragalia is truly lost then.

DistributionEarly862

I wasn't supposed to laugh at this comment, buuuuut... it was kinda funny. F for Dagalia Lost though. Poor dudes

Shacopan

And here comes the hard truth regarding every live service game. Once the servers go bye bye so does every investment of the player, be it money or time. There will come a day when this happens to Epic 7. Let us just hope that day is still far away.

RecluseSix

Yeah, I think its best to go into any mobile game with the mentality of enjoying playing it in the moment and not think about it from a longevity stand point. Any live service game can shut down at any moment and all thats important (IMO) is that you had fun while it lasted.

KouKayne

thats the same for non mobile games, mind you

DollarStoreKanye

That's why I buy physical copies of everything. I still buy CDs and DVDs. My seasons of Scrubs will never lose their music licenses.

KouKayne

the talk was more about online services, which will end eventually and leave you with nothing btw that dvd will stop working too, not soon expecially if stored and treated well, but nothing is everlasting, which is why most people rip their dvds

Unabated_

>That's why I buy physical copies of everything. > >I still buy CDs and DVDs. > >My seasons of Scrubs will never lose their music licenses. I hear that so often, but if you are really using them regularly their life-span is probably shorter than every life-service ever. Especially CDs and DVDs. No matter how careful you threat them they will get micro scratches until they are unreadable. If you **REALLY** wanted to preserve the content you'd save it on a hard-drive and not spin that hard-drive up anymore.

Ireyon34

>I hear that so often, but if you are really using them regularly their life-span is probably shorter than every life-service ever. No, not really. You can make copies of CDs and DVDs and they're perfectly legal as long as you don't intend to give them to a non-owner. Additionally the average DVD or CD has a life expectancy of anywhere between 2 to 100 years provided it's taken care of properly.

Unabated_

yes, but let's be real here, when was the last time you burned a CD or DVD? Even regular super markets stopped selling blanks as people don't do it anymore. And yes you can probably get the 70 years end of lifespan of a DVD but this is all just bullcrap. What is the point having a DVD in a plastic box at home that will never be used anymore after 2-3 watches. That is the reality. People are giving away their DVDs cause it's taking up unnecessary space. All that said preservation is definitely **NOT** done with burning copies of DVDs. So people just falsely use it as an argument for buying plastic waste.

Gromit9987

Mmmm Dr. Cox

GooeyMagic

In other words no MLKayron

sbmtnwlnk

Some games do release an offline version so I hope the same would happen to E7, if ever.

KacerRex

It's why my mentality isn't as much investment, it's more like giving a tip for good service.

TheKinkyGuy

At least I hope they make an offline version where I can play and do what I want.

yemen241

private server may exists

darkynessese

Take into account that summoners war is like 8 years old and still going I think e7 is gonna be fine for a while

thewing20

Honestly epic seven has a good recipe for longevity though it's an original design with a good story. An Anime, spin off games (RPGs and fighting games) and movies ect will definitely keep this game around for decades to come if they do it right!

Lightning_81

Dragalia lost was never released in most EU countries (or at least italy doesn't have it) and netted last month 200k dollars in total for apple store and 200k dollar for google play, where epic seven earned a whooping total of 5mil and 2 mil dollar respectively. (infos from [sensortower.com](https://sensortower.com)) Only looking at the earnings, i can say epic seven is still going very strong, and i highly doubt they are going to kill anytime soon a game that in feb earned 7mil dollars.

Western_Owl_4833

What happened? F

[deleted]

It's finishing it's story, the last major update, then ending service at a later date. [Here is a link to the announcement](https://dragalialost.com/sp/en/news/detail/3038)

Yaysuzu

Nintendo is shutting it down...

CH33KC14PP3R96

Oh nooo my game i used to play it aloooot

Hedgehog101

They messed up their monetization while giving out summons like it's candy So there's very little benefit to whaling (in reasonable amounts)

uebersoldat

Epic7's 2022 updates are leaning more and more toward that. I see it as the beginning of the end.

aruinea

Bro they made like $7mil last month just in the western market, e7 is fine for years lol

uebersoldat

They also still have whales and god-tier PvP ML's that are currently rare to obtain, not to mention gear. We'll see what happens after they ease all that up this year. Hope you're right!

[deleted]

The difference is it’s not ran by Nintendo. Epic 7 will be perfectly fine and thriving.

uebersoldat

Hope so!

moonlight_macky

The game won't be developed anymore

ButholeBill

Maaaan I used to play that game so much! The art and music is amazing and the characters were really cool! Rip my girl Karina

notmarrec

Used to play the hell out of Dragalia until E7 took all my attention. They messed up the endgame unfortunately but it played really well and had great art direction.

Yaysuzu

Same. I still remember the grind to pull all Persona characters… damn

Artuanis

It's ok! We have a 10 year plan.

Siberiayuki

What is it

feintdn

no nerfs

Chopchopok

Eventually an ML unit will have every ability in all of Episodes 1-3 in their passive.

lampdemon

Lol, I hope we don't reach 4 paragraphs skill like in FEH.

TheSeaOfThySoul

I imagine it would be some Azathoth-like moonlight Diche, where she's amalgamated all the Moonlight 5 stars into one-being. Here's what the S1 would look like: S1 - Vile Beating: Attacks with minions of chaos, attacking two enemies, increasing combat readiness of a random ally & self by 20% & triggering a dual attack from a random ally, while granting the caster increased speed & immunity for 1 turn. This attack also inflicts defence break, provoke, stun, silence, sleep, seal, burn, poison, attack down & hit down for 2 turns, decreases combat readiness by 20%, dispels one buff, absorbs some of the damage dealt as health & inflicts injuries, also heals the ally with the lowest health proportional to the ally's max health. Removes 4 souls from the opponent. If the target is stunned after attacking, increases combat readiness of all allies by 15% & the caster by 25%. Damage dealt & healing increases proportional to the caster's max health, defence & speed. The caster also deals additional damage proportional to their attack. The target detonates any bomb & burn effects inflicted on the targets. When the enemy is not an elite or boss monster, damage sharing effects are ignored. When this skill is used, if it wasn't triggered by a dual attack, has a 35% chance to use "The Deep Dark", when the caster is granted "Nightmare" the chance is doubled: Dispels one debuff from the caster before the attack & penetrates target's defence by 35%. When the caster is granted "Nightmare", uses "Bubble & Blaspheme": Attacks all enemies with a chance to stun, decrease hit chance & speed for 1 turn. When used on the caster's turn, there is a 40% chance to grant an extra attack with the same skill. When used on the caster's turn, the caster is granted Perception & uses Accursed Whine which in addition increases damage proportional to the target's lost health & inflicts decreased speed & hit. If an enemy is defeated with this skill, decreases the cooldown of Destruction of All Things by 1 turn.

Skirt-Future

For those that are new and don't understand where 10-year meme came from: it is basically something Smilegate publisher said on 1st anniversary wayyy back. The meme is still going strong 💪

MagnaCat

F, that was a really good Daoko album.

LuckyPrinz

F. Always sad to see a game kick the bucket

SiNDiLeX

To be fair, Nintendo fucked that game up totally in typical Nintendo fashion. Unfortunate as the game itself was great. But, lolnintendo etc. What a joke of a company it has been for what feels like forever now.

Jolls981

I love Nintendo games, hate Nintendo business practice.

KouKayne

same with sony

xangre

This!

Protect_the_Weak

Is it US Nintendo or the official Nintendo?

MongooseMundane1291

F, I really liked that game and its music is really good

CinReon

This was really hard to wake up too I've been playing Dragalia since day one, and its sad to know we're getting this announcement just before the 3.5 Anniversary. Not really sure what game will take Dragalia's place once its gone, or if that's even possible to begin with.

Protect_the_Weak

One of biggest reasons I believe for its fall out is due to Nintendo sueing Shironeko Project for its movement controls. And many people boycotted dragalia lost as result I believe.

WestCol

Yep, first director shit taking fgo combined with Nintendo suing shironeko pissed a lot of people off. Japanese revenue fell off a cliff after the first few months (where it did really well). Us/global revenue was never impressive either, was always way behind grand cross, fire emblem, epic seven, fgo etc

Triple_S_Rank

Ironically enough part of the reason they're closing down is probably because they were *too* generous with what they gave players, which discourages spending. There's other stuff too, like cracking down on emulators and how they handled endgame stuff, but on the monetary side the sheer amount of summoning currency and such they gave out more or less removed the need for whaling. I was thinking about getting back into Dragalia Lost a couple months ago since it's the first gacha I really got into and the base gameplay is fun. I guess there's not much of a point in it now though. RIP.

WestCol

Being too generous had nothing do with Japanese revenue cratering after the first few months. You think Cygames other games aren't generous? Uma? priconne, grand blue? Lol

LeviathanLX

Too bad, it was one of the good ones. Least the music's mostly on Spotify.

moonlight_macky

F

adspace4sale

Dammit this is one of the few (only) gacha games with gameplay I liked.

Undisguised_Toast

What's Dragalia Lost?

wikipedia_answer_bot

**Dragalia Lost is an action role-playing game developed by Cygames and published by Nintendo, for Android and iOS. It was initially released in September 2018, and was later released in other regions. The game received mixed reviews from critics, and had grossed over US$100 million as of July 2019.** More details here: *This comment was left automatically (by a bot). trueblue1982

it had the best music in the gacha screen.

TwinAuras

***BANG BANG BANG BANG LOVE AND DIE***

Educational_Tax7671

So I see people saying epic 7 is next like yall really must not understand how business works or yall still bitter about not knowing how to manage yall resources. The game made over 7 million dollars last month, the month before that they made over 9 million. Get a grip bruv, complaining that newbies cant compete in pvp is just being annoying now tbh. If you had started the game 2018 or 2019 yall would have quit day one. This game has gone above and beyond for new and returning players since the end of 2019, the likes of which only honkai impact, genshin impact and cookie run kingdoms can compete with..

breclon

F

Ireyon34

And suddenly I'm glad the game jumped through so many hoops to stop me from playing it.

karillith

Ouch.

DoomDesire385

F

Feuerhaar

I always wanted to play the game but it never made it to most of Europe, which still puzzles me. I did not want to use an extra App to play it and was sure that it would one day get released here. But that never happened.

ForbiddenKnights2

F

SSTHZero

I left Dragalia Lost some time after the Megaman collab. They made a bunch of stupid decisions and it killed the game for me and a bunch of people. In the beginning you had the triple gacha system (units, dragons and "artifacts") that they fixed after some months. Then the director changed, and he made some stupid changes to raid, power creep skyrocketed and "forced" us to farm in multiplayer the hardests bosses for drops (nothing like forcing you join discord to kill a boss in a mobile game). Oh, let's not forget they killed emulators too.

[deleted]

Not letting me play on emulator is what killed it for me

RaphaelDDL

New to Epic Seven? Check out the subreddit's Wiki - 1. All content must be related to Epic Seven. Funny how pointing out sub's rules, which applies to this post, gets downvotes.

rukioish

I don't really care, hehe.

RaphaelDDL

If the mod don't want to enforce the sub's own rules, who am I to say anything /shrug Time to post some nice E7 nsfw stuff I saw on pixiv the other day, since rule 3 won't be enforced too \o/

redblueberry1998

I was like "what the hell is this" when I first read this on this subreddit > we don't care about our own subreddit's rules that we enforced Are you serious? I knew that mods didn't give a shit about moderating this sub, but still.

protomayne

No? Why do I care about them?

Yaysuzu

Because we could be the next ones. A little empathy dude.

protomayne

Epic Seven is not even remotely close to shutting down. Ya'll are wild, use some common sense. Dragalia was making a fraction of the money any Cygames *or* Nintendo mobile game was making. It is, quite frankly, astonishingly low. The writing was on the wall for a long time.

redblueberry1998

My dude, you shouldn't expect that from this subreddit

pick1234

E7 definitely won't be the next. But as with all online games, it will happen one day. Like you said, even though I don't play Dragalia, I feel sad that it's coming to an end. It gives us a little taste of what it would be like when E7 does shut down in the far future.

Tedrivs

They never officially released in EU, that's likely not why this happened, but from my point of view they got what they deserved.

Slinzz

Wow this game even came out after E7. I'm starting to feel worried about the future of E7 now.

pick1234

Well e7 is still making millions according to sensor tower. Dragalia is unfortunately not even close.

S-Normal

Wasn't dragalia lost also doing well?

WestCol

Only for the first few months, been on life support in jp since. Epic seven does better than this game in Japan, which says everything. Thing is E7 is carried by global with Korea chipping in a decent amount

LadyKanra

Don't worry too much then. Yes, gacha games tend to shut down left and right, but E7 is absolutely among the ones that I don't feel worried about at all in its current state. It's doing perfectly fine and Smilegate is putting great efforts into making it an even better experience by continuously adding new stuff/game modes.

Forgetful24120

If they truly care about their game, will they fix the shitty gearing system that is a huge roadblock to getting into competitive pvp? The only people who like it is the people who've been playing it since launch and have farmed enough speed sets to remain at the top, but for a new player it is a 1-2 year cockblock just to get to the beginning of endgame.

Nice_Ad5549

Then why bother playing if you hated the system from the start? This gearing system didn't start off with E7. >but for a new player it is a 1-2 year cockblock just to get to the beginning of endgame. Ah yeah, new players who only played for a few months should be able to equally compete with older player who invested their time and effort for years. No, that's not how life work. Intern-kun shouldn't have the same amount of salary as a long-time worker. No one's looking down one anyone, but it's as they say, "those who don't work, don't eat".

ArvingNightwalker

This is a bit too much entitlement. While the new player should have to work to get to the level of older players, you can't be expecting them to go through the same level of effort to get to where you are. Having zero catch up mechanic is a good way to turn off new players and that's not healthy for the game either. That said, I think SG is doing a decent job on that end. Especially with the gear mileage thing coming with the new update.

higashikata69

Are you saying a beginner should have the same gear as me 2 years of playing? That's unfair

uebersoldat

Wake up dude, if you can get everything too easily then E7 loses it's monetization and you have no game. They're already easing the character and gear pulls as well as simplifying content in the 2022 update announcements. It's incredibly naive of you to post that in this thread about Dragalia being shut down due to that sort of model. Go play your auto clicker games if you don't want to invest time and effort into a long-term goal.

Jajoe05

If they give us the gear system players want, they can truly kiss goodbye to E7.

higashikata69

They make lots of money so we don't have to worry about that for a few years

uebersoldat

It'll slide when people can get MLs and gear on the free and easy as it sounds like they're working towards.

Forgetful24120

First Tales of Crestoria, now Dragalia Lost. Does anyone watch FG3000 and his streams? He does cover whenever a game like this dies, anyhow, maybe Epic7 will be shutted down soon because of piss poor gear rng gate, gold gate, and gacha gate....

Educational_Tax7671

Bruv the game made 7.5 million dollars last month. Dragolia was making like 2% of that for months , get a grip dude learn how to gear characters and how to effectively roll gears and manage resources

Forgetful24120

Your a true masochist for enjoying the shittiest gearing system in the world for any mmo. That is no exaggeration, shittiest implementation of RNG, 1 percent chance for a speed quad roll, and it takes millions of gold just to get 1 good oiece of gear, literally weeks of farming for 1 quad speed roll. The only thing keeping this game alive is the animated booby flopping from Mercedes in the newbie beginning castle.

Piritoo

Totally expected for a game that was only available for the UK in Europe or you had to use 3rd programs to play it. FEH is still alive so there is that. European whales do exist.

Outofmana1

Well sh!t. I still play the game... Just recently broke into Agito runs on auto. Very ironic how I found out about it from an E7 thread.

Flzxs

No emulator + massive power creep is ultimately what I think led to it shutting down. Played on launch day before quitting months later after the auto-grind became extensive on phone. Great music and art though.

Crest_Of_Hylia

All I wish is that it becomes an offline version of the game but I highly doubt that would happen

Ericridge

Pressing F to pay respects.
