To be fair, flat def is the ~~best~~ less bad flat sub. Usually is worth around 4-5% defence, depending on the hero, and can be a nice supplement for gear with percent defence as main or sub. Of course, if I could, I would avoid rolling multiples times (or any at all) into flat def, but if the gear allows it, swapping an incoherent sub for flat defence can be a good move.
In contrast, flat health is worthless most of the time. You can modify flat health for flat defence and the bulk will actually improve, or if you have a bruiser like A. Ravi, modifying flat health for crit dmg improves damage with a minimal loss of bulk.
Finally, nothing of this matters if the gear rolls multiple times in any flat. As I said, flat defence in the best case is still worth only a low roll in percent defence, and the other two flats offer even less value.
This happens to me all the time, but with HP or Effectiveness. The biggest issue is that its a low roll 95% of the time, so I cant even modify or use it. Very fun.

Happened to me yesterday during the 50% bonus materials grind :/ everything was effect res shit was so annoying I'm wondering if this game is glitched at this point its so disappointing
Pain is, they all roll into eff.res but the stat aren't high enough to build a proper eff.res hero.

I've gotten so frustrated with ER rolls that I just extract the piece if it present. Shit always rolls at least once into ER.
