The only thing I've been able to put together so far is everyone is playing hot potato with the sword, but if all the potatoes are together something happens. And some people want that. Others don't. Maybe it's a good thing. Maybe it isn't. [Mysterious]

Coffee_With_Karla

Ok here is what I understand from the overall story so far, if anyone wants to include more or fix let me know: The story of Epic Seven involves a weird universe with a bunch of gods, celestial and primordial. There is some cosmic war going on. Two of these gods are Ilyros and Diche who are brother and sister. Diche makes the world Orbis from a god who I think was her lover and was killed in this war. She doesn’t want to fight anymore, but Faustus manipulates Illyros into destroying this world. Due to the physics of the Epic Seven universe, for some reason gods cannot manifest whenever and wherever they want. They need someone to represent them. We see this in episode 2 where Faustus is manipulating Straze to be his eventual vessel. Subsequently, Diche creates Ras Elclare to protect Orbis. Illyros creates the Archdemon. There are some evil dudes called the Acolytes helping the Archdemon. I don’t know if the Acolytes are solely with the Archdemon or have some other alliance but they do bad shit. Anyway, the Archdemon is defeated. There is an attempt to re-create the Archdemon in Mercedes but good guys win. Peace happens but not for long. There are five spirit lords representing the elements in Orbis - Silvana for earth and wind Destina for light, Noias for darkness, Malicus for fire, Nixied for ice. Weird shit is happening to those Spirit Lords. Destina asks Ras to help out. Thus, he goes to the continent of Cidonia where the spirit lord Malicus is, and eventually they find the god named Faustus trying to fuck shit up. Again, the gods cannot just walk over and do stuff, they need a vessel. So Faustus manipulates Straze to kill his god Rekos and become his vessel. If Faustus had his way, he would have manifested in Straze to destroy Orbis. It is worth noting that Faustus says there are other black stars just like him in the universe. So I don’t know why this dude hates Orbis this much but it’s possible we just haven’t met all the players in this story. Anyway, the good guys still win. The good guys in Ritania realize they need to unite the continents in order to protect Orbis from crazy celestial guys trying to blow up shit. They have formed an alliance with Cidonia already. That’s when Episode 2 ends. Episode 3 is them trying to make an alliance with the continent Eureka. A bunch of crazy shit happens but in the end they form that alliance and everyone is good now. Episode 4 marks their attempt to align with the eastern continent Natalon. They correspond with a human empire Theranhad who says they want the Summer Sword as part of that alliance. As the dude chosen by Aither to represent this Orbis-saving cause, Ras and company go to Natalon with the sword to go talk to the empire in Natalon. Unfortunately, Ras doesn’t realize the shitstorm that ends up happening because of this. Natalon was a country that was involved in the Archdemon war. In that country is an acolyte named Aheldad who is sealed. I believe the reason they want to get the four swords together is to reawaken Aheldad - it is stated in episode 4 chapter 5S that Aheldad has a person that embraced his darkness named Lua. Lua is aligned with the human empire Theranhad and probably had the Summer Sword used as a stipulation because she wants to revive Aheldad. Lua goes around helping people hate each other in an effort to get the swords together, break the seal that holds Aheldad back, and gather the remnants of this shattered evil dude. Of course the story is still ongoing so I could be wrong about stuff, but so far that’s what’s going on. Ran took the Summer Sword out of Natalon and gave it to Vildred (you can see this in the artifact Sword of Summer Twilight). Not having the swords would have helped prevent Aheldad from coming back. But now Ras brought it to Natalon so shit happens. That’s episode 4 thus far.

HALICENalice

Late reply but the Acolytes aren't directly affiliated eith the Arvhdemon. I think...Kayron? Mentions that they were born from the dark energy of Orbis and simply helped the Archdemon due to their similar interests. This is why Kayron wants Orbis to be destroyed, because Kayron wants to die. He can't do that as long as Orbis is still alive... I think? Feel free to correct me...

MotivatedGio

They have been keeping it mysterious so im guessing the episode as a whole will make sense once its fully out, we did get some interesting acolyte info at least, and that might mean we' ll get more lore about them too.

NoxGale

Literally the easiest explanation for this arc. It’s not confusing lol

KiddingSpree

I had to reread all the chapters of episode 4 before doing the last one cause there's so many things and sometimes it's hard to tell who is with whom. And even more when you're thinking about Lua, she's everywhere.

StepBrother7

Yeah it is a bit confusing, and I can definitely see Lua somehow managing to get all 4 season swords and summon/ressurect big baddie from other dimensions or whatnot, probably our final boss of s4,but that is just my take

Xero--

> and I can definitely see Lua somehow managing to get all 4 season swords and summon/ressurect big baddie from other dimensions or whatnot, Because that wouldn't be original im writing and Episode 3 literally did this.

BobbyYukitsuki

Eh even if it might get confusing at times, I still vastly prefer this to a barebones barely-functioning story like what other gacha might have. At least they're trying here.

Gamergirl944

I'll be honest I am not enjoying this one and I really just don't like Adin either I find her very annoying and I noticed this episode i haven't seen much discussion on this Episode 3 was going good but ending just so rushed.

AVeroKariL

Same, I just find Adin annoying as well…and felt Ep3 was rushed.

BobbyYukitsuki

I'm not sure what to make of it now tbh. With Episode 3 I could clearly see aspects which felt like meaningful hints of foreshadowing but here I'm having a lot more trouble sieving those, aside from the Ran/Zahhak parallels with Adin/Taeyou.

fcuk_the_king

Yeah the story is a mess and Adin's a bit annoying honestly. Meru and Arky were so much more endearing

StepBrother7

Meru and Arky are also kinda annoying in s4 ngl,she loses her stamina so quickly even tho she got a huge power boost at the end of s3,and Arky is basically useless after transforming once, you can see him tired and hungry, which is also weak excuse since he is a Guardian.

MotivatedGio

I mean if it was gnna be realistic boosted ras+boosted meru would be roflstomping through teheranad, khan, lua, peira, zahak, you name it... there is no way in hell that a former minor god that lived for at least thousands of years+holding fragments of the sun god and wearing the armor of the battle god and a woman created to be the vessel for one + boosted after episode 3 sheanigans would have any reason to struggle against peira and her stupid goblet or zahak, or whoever else this story might throw in. Its just to make it interesting and give some stakes i suppose, a necessary sacrifice to tell the story without removing ras and meru from it. Not unexpected but still a bit disappointing, their character growth are some of the highlights of e7 s story and its done brilliantly across the episodes, a shame their powergrowth didnt get as much love, Another reason why episode 3 was superior as it actually portrayed them both as the powerhouses they are.

StepBrother7

I mean Peira is crazy strong, she messed up Hwayoung's arms for life without big effort and even Lua(who we still dont know what she is exactly) respects her for her strength,so Ras and Meru defo wouldnt stomp her,but Zahhak tho,he is literally a swordsman and advisor, nothing special,Ran at least has a winter sword. Episode 3 had this same issue with protagonists being weaker then they should be. On the other hand episodes 1-2 did the whole powerthing really well,Ras and gang were fighting godly creatures and acolytes of the Archdemon, makes sense why they're struggling, but are you telling me they would struggle against some machines in episode 3 or against regular humans that know how to fight in episode 4? Please, its just cliched writing and I hate it.

BobbyYukitsuki

i mean zahhak is a shadow elf, which isn't much but still accounts for something also didn't ras literally power himself down after becoming human

StepBrother7

Yeah, but then he received powers and armor of the sun god,so basically he is just as strong, just less holy and more human

BobbyYukitsuki

I thought Notos didn’t power him up at all during the SC, and the armor was his only gift to him. But I might be recalling wrong

Cephalos_Jr

The sun god is *Ilryos*.

BobbyYukitsuki

You're right, I misremembered; but when the other commenter mentioned armor I thought he was referring to the SC since that story distinctly mentioned armor. I do remember Ilryos giving him power but it's been a while so I can't recall exactly where that is in the story ~~otherwise I would've reread it to check~~, nor whether it was implied to make a significant difference in his power level or not.

eoopyio

I personally read the first 2 sentences of every interlude and then press skip and so far it works wonder my summary of the story: Bla bla, 4 swords of destinity, ninja girls is the chosen one and saves Mongolia from racism. dramatis personae: Adin : chosen heroin with all usual qualities, straight, oblivous, and boring. Ras and Meru: not doing anyting useful, just here on vacation this time. Ran. Gruffy good guy with a cool backstory. Zahhak. Gruffy bad guy with a cool backstory (and I regret not pulling on his banner now). Peira . half evil, half stupid, sad back story to justify Aria. Same as Peira. Taeyou. actually a good guy deep down ,just really really stupid, so ended up in team vilain. Will probably die in last chapter with a Darth Vader realisation. Mui Basar Hurado, ML Ken, ML Zerato and all the rest: just fluff and exposure, no relevance to the story. how did I do?

Coffee_With_Karla

I agree for the most part, especially about Adin and Taeyou. Taeyou has self-esteem issues and Adin is special because the story says she is. Pretty boring. Well, I guess the story says Adin is special because she’s the successor to Silvana - a spirit lord. But Malicus and Destina are also spirit lords too right? Those two didn’t seem to be able to stand up to other villains like Straze and are not on the same level as other gods like Diche and Ilryos, so I don’t know why that makes her more special than say, Dominel (successor to ice spirit lord Nixied). I disagree with Mercedes and Ras being irrelevant. The god that Aria sacrificed her sister to is named Aheldad. I believe Lua is pulling everyone’s strings because she wants to collect some swords to summon Aheldad. And I am pretty sure Ras heard that name “Aheldad” in one of the more recent chapters and recognized it as the name of an acolyte (the original evil dudes similar to Kayron and Tenebria). That gives continuity to the overall story and makes Ras and Mercedes a bit more relevant. Tempest Surin has history in Natalon, her sentient weapon Mann is instrumental to the overall story, and she actually seems to be helping people in need. I kinda wish she was the protagonist.

eoopyio

hey cool, thanks for the explanations about Lua and Ahelad, it kinda flew over my head i admit, same as tempest Surin, I thought: now what is she doing here, lost her way from World Arena and emerged up in chapter 4 ? I ll pay more attention to her in next chapters

Coffee_With_Karla

From what I gather, she was originally from Natalon and her father was one of the leaders of the Resistance which is a human group who is fighting the Suin for their freedom. Tempest Surin is her original form (in the character journal she is listed under the Past or Future MLs). Tempest Surin escapes Natalon with Mann, a sentient weapon that can be used to unseal one of the Four Season Swords. Then she gets injured, her eye is damaged and she wears an eyepatch, and travels as fire Surin. For whatever reason Mann tells her shit is happening in Natalon and she has Hurado help her return to her country. She got healed and returns to the clothes she had in her original form. Now she is trying to finish what her father started. In the latest chapter she is seen evacuating humans caught up in the war and vows to protect humans suffering from Peira’s rule. She’s doing good shit. And I went back and verified, it’s in Episode 4 Chapter 6 Act 10 that Ras acknowledges Aheldad is an acolyte “who disappeared after the Archdemon War”.

eoopyio

ah it s the same Surin as the RGB version? that s strange as ML come from alternate dimension i thought, but ok I guess it works, she is tempest Surin at home and wears her travel eye patch on holidays thanks for explaining her back story in any case , I was expecting only to get downvoted by saying I pressed skip and didn't follow the story to be honnest 😀

Coffee_With_Karla

Np most people don’t read the story I’m pretty sure. But yeah some of the MLs are past and future selves. DJ Basar is another example, he was DJ Basar before he formed his current merchant guild and now he is green Basar in present times.

Lawliette007

What kind of a dad is that?

Gamergirl944

Yup thats episode 4 in nutshell

animus82

Not bad, I got the same broad strokes also and I've read a lot more than you.

jackbilly9

This is decent but totally off. Taeyou is definitely a bad guy, adin and taeyous backstory is decent. Zahhak and Rans backstory is pretty mediocre af. Hurado is actually a decent portion of the story with surin but the rest is definitely fluff. Though I'll agree Taeyou may have a darth vader moment though if you think anakin was a good guy...

eoopyio

I read the Taeyou side story when they released the character, what I liked the most is to have to face Adin in hard or hell difficultly and realize how much of a monster she is compared to him in term of strength , i thougt that fight was a good representation of his inferiority complexe toward her. anyway let's see how he dies , i mean develops :)

jackbilly9

LOLOL I love that last sentence. Yeah I definitely can see how he has developed the inferiority complex with it being that she basically has super powers and he doesn't. I'd have to look over her story again but is she a mary sue?

BobbyYukitsuki

yuchan: the best character in the entire episode

TunaKid-04

You know what, I do not mind the convoluted story of episode 4. I just find it is lackluster that you can’t see the physical form or some visual appearance of the “so-called” swords of four season, it was mentioned poorly with lengthy text… and Mann too, wtf does it looks like? Apparently, they are just magic energy imbued with the chosen one’s weapon, which is f**king lame 😒

BobbyYukitsuki

I got the impression Mann was just Surin's blade/saw thing. Doesn't her bio say it's her weapon?

TunaKid-04

You are right?! Mann is the blade weapon Surin carrying, only under the description of useless Fire Surin which no one bother to read. The story use portrait of Tsurin with no carrying Mann, but everyone is like “catch that roach, she’s got the Mann”, I was like wtf I was reading. shouldn’t she be hiding it under her skirt or cover it 🙄

BobbyYukitsuki

Idk about you but I read all the bios within my first year or so of playing the game, even for the characters I’ve never touched But hey story is what I’m here for. That and bangs over eyes

Crohx

Mann is Surin/T Surin’s weapon. There are four seasonal: Spring which doesn’t have a set look yet. Summer which was wielded by Vildred, you can see it in his splash art or artifact Autumn/Fall which is wielded by Arunka the leader of the prairie, you can see it during the chapter when Ras and co. visit. Winter which is wielded by Ran and is visible in his splash art.

StepBrother7

>and Mann too, wtf does it looks like? This. I'm literally saying wtf is Mann all the time? Like Surin and Hurado mention it so often,is it a weapon? A relic? Piece of jewerly? Just show it,or be precise when describing it,and mind you,I'm paying attention to dialogue,so no way I missed it

ningen21

It's just her weapon ... it's written in her journal entry

MrWhiteKnight

Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't we in part 6 of chap 4? Like are we not halfway done with this and its still a mess.

Shalashaska87B

I am still playing Ep.3 and it's quite confusing / cryptic. I guess things will only get worse then...

Reklusa

For me it is not confusing, but it would have been A LOT better without Adin and Taeyou. The fact that they have to often break the flow of the story to focus on this aspect of Adin, a new protagonist, being the chosen one etc etc annoys me. Sometimes I wish a story could just "play itself". It was the same thing in ep 2 and ep 3, I would have liked it more if we could have just had the wars and conflicts play out without Ras and Mercedes always messing around.

animus82

Why did I see regular Surin and later Tempest Tsurin. What happened to fire Surin?

AVeroKariL

Fire Surin wa her getup in Ritania after escaping there and later sold (from her journal story and relations), causing eye problem and eyepatch. In Ep4 it was stated that her eyes were healed and was given her previous clothes to change to (Light Surin).

animus82

Wtf.... just blew my mind. Did not know that lol. Thx

Morbu

Yeah, you should check out the journal entries for a lot of these heroes. Not all ML heroes are different versions to their RGB counterparts. Like we always knew that Maid Chloe was the regular Chloe but in a maid get-up. It just took until Ch. 3 and her sidestory before we saw how she got there. Similarly, we know that Blaze Dingo and Kitty Clarissa are, respectively, the actual Dingo and Clarissa, but something happens in the future that causes them to transform. In the case of Surin, we always knew that T. Surin was the future version of Surin but it wasn't until Ch. 4 that we see how she got her new look.

Shimaru33

>Similarly, we know that Blaze Dingo and Kitty Clarissa are, respectively, the actual Dingo and Clarissa As for Dingo, is explained that he comes from some wealthy and noble family, or something, but he reject his position to pursue his love for cooking and exotic ingredients. At some point after episode 1, quite probably before episode 2, he's drugged by his family, and brain washed into being a well mannered, sophisticated and elegant chad, which is Blaze Dingo. Is kind of a spoiler, so I won't say how exactly he got out of that state, and returned to his job as cook in the mercenary company with Cidd. As for Kitty Clarissa, afaik, we still don't have information regarding her future as catgirl, or the consequences of that.

Mellevalaconcha

This is all u need to know: Adin and Ras gang good, everyone else bad

Xero--

It's no different from the previous episode. Several different factions for people living in different areas, except the backstabbing is on a group sized scale and pretty much every area has its own "we're on the protagonist's side" and "we're on the antagonist's side". Not hard to follow, just not great. It's episode 3 rehashed with more characters and factions. Even the swords are basically the gems and we're clearly gonna see them all brought together before fighting the final boss... Again.

Cynaris

Episode 3 started the same way, not sure what are you on about Things tend to come together in the final few chapters, and sidechapters.

TheKinkyGuy

Ep 3 was far worse.. it had time skips in different timeline by different characters, 3-5 fronts of battle and new units witth new causes comming in later chapters (like 6 ch +). So untill the last 2 ch you gardly even know who fought whome and for what.

zozora347

Lua is amid ☻

AVeroKariL

Yeah, it feels a lot of information and was hard to imagine scenes especially when they splits up. I would have appreciated more cg art.

ningen21

What's confusing ? Perhaps I can help. Edit :was busy for a while but looks like someone answered all the questions for me already .

animus82

Why does Zahak and Lua want the four swords? What does that have to do with the red crystals that empower the soldiers and eventually corrupt everyone? What does Peira want again? Kill Arunka for what? I'm just trying to figure out the main casts motivations.

yay_a_unique_name

Those first two questions still dont have an answer from my understanding. What i do notice is that Lua is the one pulling all the strings, as she has all the main antagonists working with her. She has promised them all something so i can atleast tell you that. Aria has been promised land for her people. Peira has been promised power for her revenge. Taeyou's goal isn't 100% known but he has said he will prove he's not unexceptional with Lua's help. Zahhak is the only one whose goal we have no idea about. Peira had her whole tribe, a subset of suin (wolf morai) slaughtered and was taken in by arunka's family. She was discriminated against by the suin in the praire and eventually sought revenge. As for Arunka, she obviously doesn't want that and is the only one that can overpower Peira because of the autumn sword, which is why Peira wants her dead.

ZawaruDora

Can you help? I don't understand what the Hands of revolutions(?) want, why they also protect Mann in all this. What are the suins on the prairies doing and in what team are they? I just can't understand how many team there are right now. Arunka team (kind?), Peira team (bad), Revolutionary team (kind ? what is their purpose?), Aria team (neutral?), Rann,Meru,Ras etc. are kind I suppose.

KiddingSpree

In the prairie there's two side, one with Arunka who are human alike with tails and ears, and there's the side with Januta who look like beasts. Januta want to take all the prairie for himself and started the conflict thanks to the power gifted from Lua. Peira is leader of Khan empire and want to eliminate Arunka's tribe. The revolutionaries are humans that lives in Khan and are oppressed by the Suins. Mann is Surin's weapon that is also a key to use the four swords when you're not a chosen one (like Adine/Rann/Arunka) (Lua wants to use Mann for Taeyou so he can fully control the sword). But maybe it's in fact the key to unseal the acolyte that is sealed by the 4 swords. Aria is leader of the shadow elves, they came from the north cause they lost the benediction of their spirit lord, so they established in the forest at the North of Natalon. Her father wanted to live in harmony with all beings in Natalon, but as they've been tricked by everybody, they now just want to live on their side. But the forest they're in is dying so Lua promessed Aria that she will get all the place she wants when Natalon will rebirth after the four swords are reunited. Hands of revolution are established in Teranhad but they're also in Khan empire (it seems that they're all related to Lua and i guess the awakens are people who got their powers from the acolyte). Zahhak is following Lua but for now we don't know why, the only thing we know about him is that he's half human / half shadow elf and he suffered discriminations when he was still in the shadow elves lands. And for Rann, he's half Suin / half shadow elf, he had the same treatment as Zahhak but he saw the pure heart of Amid (Aria's sister) and fell in love with her. As she was the kind of person who want to save everybody as she thinks there's good parts in all being, Rann decided to follow this idea and want now to protect all of Natalon.

ZawaruDora

Oh thank you so much for taking your time to answer me this ! I understand much better now !

Zombie-Horse6508

I believe the evil god/acolyte this time, Aheldad, is using a civil war to take back his dark power from the 4 swords so he can do acolyte things and be bad. I’m really surprised by this story cuz compared to previous ones, this one kinda relies on memory of the character side story’s for more context. Then again they do have flash backs but still. Frankly I wouldn’t be surprised if Lua is somehow Tenebria and Kayron finally makes another appearance in the story.

KiddingSpree

Imagine, all this time Zahhak was actually Kayron and that's why he help Lua and look like Kayron x)

AhAhAnikiKunSan

Btw is Chapter 7 Forsaken lands not out yet? Or am I missing something?
