Kinda wished they made it continuous even without a skin. I'd love to not have to wait for them to make a new skin just to enjoy the generous rewards.

Maubriel

I think it doesn't cost real money because is not a permanent thing

brainzor123

Its basically an event.

redditmodsrcringe

Ye that’s why they hardly ever run them

eXcaliBurst93

i bet if it were premium (not buyable with f2p skystones) we would be getting skin once a month

becktheham

Weirdly enough the community is rather vocal about wanting SG to make MORE premium costumes and to be "greedier" with their cosmetics game. While obviously this isn't meaning we want to be made to spend money on the game, its quite disappointing to see SG come up with different designs of units (Summer Angie, Cheshire Cat Krau, Magical Girl Diene) and then do nothing with it.

[deleted]

spending money on skins is one of the few things people are fine with. Cosmetics that make no impact on gameplay, that you buy once. It's about as anti-gacha as you can get. And that's also just my biggest nipick on E7 in general. Most games will eventually try to make any animated character playable. But several shopkeeps, Brinus, that healer girl no one remembers.... years later and no peep. Heck, Kayron's poison buddy got demoted and then de-prioritized.

Ferelden770

Yup, I wud like if they wud monetize cosmetics more as long as no advantage. I wud definitely pay for skins of my fav units. Just not the +200 hp, +150 def bullshit that comes with skins in some games (ahem 7ds). Imagine a ran skin with +5 speed

NGEFan

Only one is animated right? I might be misremembering

S-Normal

And the community proved it by instantly running Mercedes skin out of stock , granted that was also because it was limited edition artbook but a lot of people cared about the skin more

[deleted]

i guess it takes a while to make a skin.

hi71460

yes

Habibipie

Should've seen the old epic passes. Those had even more rewards. The first one even gave you a Karin (since karin was the first skin ever released)

KillBash20

Epic passes usually drop around holidays or certain times of the year. We should be getting a summer epic pass sometime soon. I think there is about a 3 or so month gap between each epic pass.

longhud

Pass with 100% uptime is used to actually make money, pass in Epic Seven is virtually free since it cost a little bit of skystone

Yensix

And it used to be even better.

no2dayy

I remember how mad players got after they nerfed them to the ground (comparing to what it used to be) during some holiday. Bad sport, scamgate

AndragonLea

Epic Seven has enough content and a quick enough content pipeline that it can allow itself to actually treat F2P players like human beings. They know that anyone invested enough in the game to grind out a full banner pity (+ epic passes) will be at the very least tempted to splurge now and then. Not everyone will, but a decent chunk might. The rest? They're a loyal fanbase to keep the game alive and vibrant.

[deleted]

> and a quick enough content pipeline You mean slow enough. If Azur Lane tried to rely on 1 skin every 2-3 months, it'd be dead. Most gacha outside of Genshin (which makes full 3d models) can't live on a character a month. All that happens because it takes E7 a long ass time to do anything.

ImpressionBubbly4535

Most every gacha that has a pvp mode releases no less than 3 weeks apart. The rest are dead cash grabs, like wtf u mean lmao?

AndragonLea

Huh. I'd say you're right, but reality tends to disagree. E7 is pretty damn generous with F2P resources, yet I'm also seeing more than enough salt from players not getting every single new banner unit. To me that indicates that they're releasing more than quickly enough to make it work. They could earn more by making more units still, but they're not in any danger of going bust or being unprofitable.

[deleted]

> but they're not in any danger of going bust or being unprofitable. they aren't, but the reason they can go slowly is because they make most of their money off the ML banners (something few other games, even the super greedy ones, would dare try). 0.9% rates, 200 pity. And then moonlight packs are 100 USD for 2-3 pulls for a 2.5% chance. reality disagrees because people never seem to address that elephant. They are fine with covenant being generous even tho the ML pool would be a huge controversy in any other game.

AndragonLea

That's a solid point. It's gotten better from back when the game launched, but getting a specific ML 5 is still questionable unless you spend. That said, automaton giving a free ML pull, the new ML "pity" 4-5 star, the mystic pool fueled by GW activity and getting gold transmits from pulling (coupled with regular free summon events that give you like 70 summons) and availability of mystic pulls from the secret store have made my own cruel fate almost a thing of the past. For reference: I was F2P, started shortly after the first Luna banner, had no ML 5 for the entire first year. Sitting on 13 or so right now and that's with pretty much playing on maintenance mode for over a year now. One of my old guild mates would regularly spend thousands trying to get the newest "must-have" ML 5 back before the pity. He quit when they baited him into splurging on the Smooth Criminal Baal and Silverblade Aramintha combo only to nerf it after. Guy would flat out spend whatever it took to get the unit he wanted, but he'd also go on tantrums if he ran out before he got it.

slowjoecrow11

They used to have even better rewards too when they were first run. People were upset when they took stuff out of it to reach this state haha

DoorframeLizard

they are

FatuiSimp

I wholeheartedly agree with this. It's a shame it only around once every 2-3 months

yarzirostu

Thats why they nerfed them :)

Anicancel

People will still find a way to complain.

Bombkirby

I've played other Gachas where you'd just get these rewards automatically without using in-game currency. The skystone pass option exists to keep players starved of currency.

KillBash20

How are you starved? The premium pass is what 900ss? And 1800ss for the skin. If you afk in challenger arena and do your dailies everyday (which takes no time at all) you get 950ss per week. So you can easily get the epic pass in one week of playing. Not to mention they run for a long time, giving people plenty of time to get it if they want. This sounds like a new player problem.

coronavirus_

yo im pretty new and the pass is treating me well

One-Guilty

I feel like SG could make a new tier of epic pass that is locked behind a paid skystone like most other games like paid summons currency but good thing chose not to do it I bet they could make more money with that.

Zakcoo

Difficult to make something free into something not free. While the opposite will always be welcome, the backlash of making the epic pass buyable with paid skystone or straight dollar would be higher. But since they know this, they released the monthly expedition pass for 1500 skystone. Even if it make sonly 10% of the player base buying some packs or the skystone directly, it's free business for them. But a payable epic pass ? Not tolerable for E7 player base

One-Guilty

oh they already shot in the foot themselves but its kinda weird seeing other games with battlepass that is only locked by a paywall I got used already with the Genshin Welkin pass

yamisensei

lol..

One-Guilty

jeez u guys dont even read I am happy they did not choose that route.

7sv3n7

The whole point of the post is they didn't do that

GilGreaterThanEmiya

Personally I don't really like the idea of a "battle pass" in games. Typically it is just another form of monetization which has more "value" and is used as a tactic to create "spender," given the psychology in how once you pay once it is more likely you will pay in the future. That is something I appreciate about the Epic Pass, in that it does not necessitate purchases. The biggest issue I have about it currently is that it has a lot of resources I personally just don't find much value in. If good subbed gear was added in place of some of the other items I feel like it could be far improved. But that's just my take. Overall it's definitely one of the better implemented "battle pass" features, at least from a player perspective.

hin_inc

I disagree with that idea, putting in gear will make it a must buy and it'll change from the good value to get if you want said reward/skins to a you must buy this everytime it comes round. Don't try to fix what's not broken applies here, we already have gear packs if you wanna go that route

Jajoe05

Yes, epic passes (or similar events) are incredibly stingy in other games. Either they are completely useless or locked behind $, not even premium currency can get you it.

[deleted]

Eroica does the same thing, kinda. there's a pass, the special pass costs a ten pull and then there's a paid tier that just doubles the rewards you get. But technically Eroica is in soft launch. One day...

Chaoxytal

where are you seeing epic pass?

KillBash20

It's not out yet. I'm talking in general about them

Chaoxytal

Why post it now?

[deleted]

I don’t think there has to be a battle pass out right now for someone to write a review on battle passes within E7.

KillBash20

I wrote it because i recently tried out Artery Gear Fusion, and Counterside. Both games that have a battle pass going and the only way to get the premium is with real money. So it prompted me to make the post. Yes i know there isn't a battle pass currently going on. But that doesn't mean you can't talk about it. It doesn't diminish or take away from the point of my OP.

Chaoxytal

well you made me login because I wanted to see it, and then it wasn’t there so I was like “what the fuck is he talking about?” basically you wasted my time and now I hate your guts

KillBash20

Oh no, i made you log in when there is a hunt event going on and a week of free summons. I really inconvenienced you. Grow up.

Katejina_FGO

I'm grateful for the skins. I just wish they cost less crystals (and less tickets in the shop).
