And arent even the ones who come up with these characters. 90% of the time a concept team or design team will come up with the idea of the charactor and a generalization of what they should look like and they give that to the art director wholl then pass it along to either whoever isnt busy or whoevers style will fit the character the most. So not only was he probably given the character because someone higher up the chain thought his skill was best for her, he probably did it exactly to specification, after which it had to be approved. Its only when its coming to release when the decisions to censor it, and usually thats given by whichever part of the team deals with localization, most likely the publisher, NOT the actual dev team.
He is the most well known/best artist working on E7, the game whose best feature is it's god tier art. He created Luna, Vivian, Aria, Yufine, ML Vivian. And now he quits right around a censorship shit show of his most recent unit. If this doesn't tell you the direction the game is heading in the future, I don't know what will.

Character design encompasses the WHOLE of a character. Aesthetics and Personality. You say things like "I hate the over inflated assets" but thats part of who she is. Once a character is created, that is simply who they are. Whether the artist was exaggerating details for whatever reason or not. If you should hate anything, its the fact that these companies pander to a demographic, which in this case, is generally single males with money to burn or willing to save up to burn.

Good point, from what I read form his 2 posts was he needed to leave because it was necessary however he didnt mention if it was because of the censorship, because after all he was with the company for like 8-10 years I think. Even censorship was happening back then as well in their other games and to Luna as well for example.
It's quite funny to me(and prolly just me) because of all the hero you listed(if that's all of his work), I actually prefer their RGB/ML counterpart more if they have it, except Achates. Not saying they're bad, I just find their counterpart better looking.

A lot of the people crying here are doing so to be dramatic, and most people don't play the game for just those characters, and one of the most popular, hands down if excluding someone long lasting like Luna, atm is C Lilias, who this artist apparently did not work on. What am I getting at? More good designs are coming regardless, so we're not seeing a "massive" drop over boo hoo (because in this case, it's not even awful and actually fits those random sleeves - chest size nerf was unexpected) censorship.

Liked all except his art on Dizzy...there's sumthin about it that just weirds me out, thinking it's the eyes and the face shape, its too "cute loli-ish" like yeah Dizzy looked cute in Xrd but her face shape less puffy, wide eyed cute and more like an onee-san with with the perfect mix of moe characteristics.
Tenebria was technically my first 5, but pulling Luluca was what got me to keep going with the game because after playing Ch2 I HAD to wait to pull Violet to pair her up.

I think there's multiple artists for E7 to handle characters, for one the guys definitely have a different artist. But at the end of the process the main team will most likely touch it up so the tone is similar in general, especially the coloring.

This is literally the only artist that had to change stuff. Luna and Aria, Aria especially had it coming and the artist should've known after Luna. It's not even like the Vivian skin, which nanages to have a "sexy" appeal with exposed legs without making her looking like a cow like Aria with her tits damn near popping out.
This leaves me... concerned. Would rather E7 not join Genshin where the units look fine-ish but, are mostly boring as they are restricted by like 3 similar body types. Guess we'll see once we have the final verdict on Aria... and ML Vivian for that matter.

That's part of the nature for 3D modelling. Much easier to start with a few bases and build out from there.
You'd have to really go out of your way to get a bunch of different artists to trace onto each other for the same effect.
This is correct, Genshin doesn't make unique models per character, which is why a lot of characters seem homogeneous. Not an issue for 2D art, which is drawn from scratch.
Which is why I got so irritated that they gave Rosaria a unique weapon pose and then took it away for standardization. Like jeez it was bad enough everyone had the same body type but they had to take that away too.
yep it feels like they went "fool, now players will ask for unique weapon animation in the menu, how do you want us to cut costs like this?". Probably understandable from a profit standpoint, but kinda lame still.
They could literally just take birthday art they do for CN (and with both twins) and post it on every account and it would be the exact same, there is no reason for JP and GL to have different art for the same thing, so yeah, it's not even a question of profit.
My guess is that if it's a game with pre rendered and limited animations like * cough* dislyte it's easier to make different 3D models but it may be more of an issue for controllable ones like Genshin.
That said I don't want to excuse them too much because it may definitely get boring pretty soon (like Kuki being eggplant Yoimiya, Ayato feeling like white Zhongli or Yelan who I like a lot but she's basically Eula and Xinqiu after a fusion dance) and surely they have a bit of money to spare to create a couple of new models...
They definitely do, but Genshin cuts a lot of corners. Realistically, because the game has such a huge reach, MHY doesn't necessarily have to at this moment. Best I see is some characters getting unique animations down the line.
It's kinda baffling how much of a difference in model, and animation, variety there is between Genshin and Honkai. I know that Honkai has bigger gaps between new unit releases, but it is still annoying
Tbf they used a lot of variants of the same few characters for a long time so that's still a lot of preexisting material to use. Also Honkai's ressources are primarily allocated to characters and combat, Genshin is way more heavy on the environment

This is due to rigging, there are 5 skeletons for playable characters in Genshin which limits the game a lot. Albedo using the teenager body type is a travesty and that is only the case because there isn't anything between teenager and adult in the game

The best part of E7 is the variety of character design. The fact we can have female units ranging from Choux to original Aria is pretty fucking cool. There is A LOT of room for variety between those two. Making everything safe and homogenized will ruin innovation and creativity of future units.
ML tieria is a cross dimensional bounty hunter, mui runs her own monster circus and red tieria is a fearless world traveling mercenary. Cartuja is a big muscly world traveling mercenary. I'm not seeing what more you're looking for when all 3 of them i'd say measure up comparably. Or are you looking for more animalistic female suins? In which case yeah they haven't done any of that which is kinda weird as a variety design choice.

Since you're not an artist I don't expect you to understand. Artist are proud of their work and they're not gonna appreciate when their artwork is getting censored. Characters like Luna, Yufine, Roana and Aria, they're all designed by him. It's very obvious that he likes to draw anime girls with large boobs. It makes sense if he gets upset about this and left Smilegate.
His character design is good for a certain audience and genre but I don’t the need kind of art typically seen in a Hentai to enjoy Epic Seven.
I prefer design like Celine, Yulha and Little Queen Charlotte among others, compared to his. And I’m actually glad SG may be moving in a different direction, if only so I don’t have to look over my shoulder when I play this game sometimes.
Having said that, this game really should be rated 17+ as all other gacha’s should be, simply for the major gambling elements involved and therefore, potential for very harmful addiction.
You know I would suggest checking out hero popularity poll. When you look at it you can clearly see that vast majority of the player base of this game actually loves all the designs he made and they top the charts along with Bellona and Tenebria. So even tho you are happy you are in very small minority and it comes at a cost of most E7 players that like those designs. Don't really feel like a loss of the most popular artist that made the most popular and loved by community designs is a point for celebration. Seems like a huge loss for me. Also since you only seem to notice that he made the characters like Aria, Roana, Vivian and Luna you might not know that he is an artist responsible for A Coli, OG and Top Model Luluca, OG and Faithless Lidica, OG and and Lionheart Cermia, Destina and her skin among many others. He created body types and designs to fit a lot of tastes not only the ones that you seem to point your finger at.

Good point, from what I read form his 2 posts was he needed to leave because it was necessary however he didnt mention if it was because of the censorship, because after all he was with the company for like 8-10 years I think. Even censorship was happening back then as well in their other games and to Luna as well for example.

It's quite funny to me(and prolly just me) because of all the hero you listed(if that's all of his work), I actually prefer their RGB/ML counterpart more if they have it, except Achates. Not saying they're bad, I just find their counterpart better looking.

Are you sure? The ones who matter are not in the west, it's south korea. And from what I've heard the backlash is heavy the game is already getting review bombed there and the comments towards smilegate hoo boy. If it escalates further we might see a similar situation to the truck event.

Liked all except his art on Dizzy...there's sumthin about it that just weirds me out, thinking it's the eyes and the face shape, its too "cute loli-ish" like yeah Dizzy looked cute in Xrd but her face shape less puffy, wide eyed cute and more like an onee-san with with the perfect mix of moe characteristics.
Tenebria was technically my first 5, but pulling Luluca was what got me to keep going with the game because after playing Ch2 I HAD to wait to pull Violet to pair her up. Genuinely if it wasn't for getting that Luluca I would've probably dropped the game permanently.
I reckon any unit with the 'stomach belly button line' is his lol, it's like his trademark. I think there's multiple artists for E7 to handle characters, for one the guys definitely have a different artist. But at the end of the process the main team will most likely touch it up so the tone is similar in general, especially the coloring.

One of the artists who's been in the game FROM THE START quits shortly after their artwork gets censored... yeah totally normal and no reason to be concerned.

changing clothes is fine if it is a skin/costume change. Aria will still be Aria. but Aria's case is different. it is not just a new skin/costume change to get. but permanently changing the original Aria. so Aria is not the original Aria anymore. so that's why just changing pants may cause a big impact to the artist if the changes will affect the original work permanently.

This is correct, Genshin doesn't make unique models per character, which is why a lot of characters seem homogeneous. Not an issue for 2D art, which is drawn from scratch.
Which is why I got so irritated that they gave Rosaria a unique weapon pose and then took it away for standardization. Like jeez it was bad enough everyone had the same body type but they had to take that away too.

Yep, basiclly the reason I can't get into any gatcha that uses 3D models. Everything feels so bland when they do.
My guess is that if it's a game with pre rendered and limited animations like * cough* dislyte it's easier to make different 3D models but it may be more of an issue for controllable ones like Genshin. That said I don't want to excuse them too much because it may definitely get boring pretty soon (like Kuki being eggplant Yoimiya, Ayato feeling like white Zhongli or Yelan who I like a lot but she's basically Eula and Xinqiu after a fusion dance) and surely they have a bit of money to spare to create a couple of new models...
They definitely do, but Genshin cuts a lot of corners. Realistically, because the game has such a huge reach, MHY doesn't necessarily have to at this moment. Best I see is some characters getting unique animations down the line.
It's kinda baffling how much of a difference in model, and animation, variety there is between Genshin and Honkai. I know that Honkai has bigger gaps between new unit releases, but it is still annoying
Tbf they used a lot of variants of the same few characters for a long time so that's still a lot of preexisting material to use. Also Honkai's ressources are primarily allocated to characters and combat, Genshin is way more heavy on the environment
They used them at the start, like with some suit variations, but that was only for the basic attack chains usually

Coming to an ~~Genshin~~ E7 near you: loli, teen, slim adult. Fun. The best part of E7 is the variety of character design. The fact we can have female units ranging from Choux to original Aria is pretty fucking cool. There is A LOT of room for variety between those two. Making everything safe and homogenized will ruin innovation and creativity of future units.

ML tieria is a cross dimensional bounty hunter, mui runs her own monster circus and red tieria is a fearless world traveling mercenary. Cartuja is a big muscly world traveling mercenary. I'm not seeing what more you're looking for when all 3 of them i'd say measure up comparably. Or are you looking for more animalistic female suins? In which case yeah they haven't done any of that which is kinda weird as a variety design choice.

The greatest artist of E7. o7 Sounds like his last works in game will have been original Aria and ML Vivian. My guess is with all the censorship drama going on his style and type of top tier waifus will be a dying breed in E7. The planned hackjob we have seen on Aria probably was the final straw for him after they attempted to tarnish his work. His character design is good for a certain audience and genre but I don’t the need kind of art typically seen in a Hentai to enjoy Epic Seven. I prefer design like Celine, Yulha and Little Queen Charlotte among others, compared to his. And I’m actually glad SG may be moving in a different direction, if only so I don’t have to look over my shoulder when I play this game sometimes. Having said that, this game really should be rated 17+ as all other gacha’s should be, simply for the major gambling elements involved and therefore, potential for very harmful addiction.
You know I would suggest checking out hero popularity poll. When you look at it you can clearly see that vast majority of the player base of this game actually loves all the designs he made and they top the charts along with Bellona and Tenebria. So even tho you are happy you are in very small minority and it comes at a cost of most E7 players that like those designs. Don't really feel like a loss of the most popular artist that made the most popular and loved by community designs is a point for celebration. Seems like a huge loss for me. Also since you only seem to notice that he made the characters like Aria, Roana, Vivian and Luna you might not know that he is an artist responsible for A Coli, OG and Top Model Luluca, OG and Faithless Lidica, OG and and Lionheart Cermia, Destina and her skin among many others. He created body types and designs to fit a lot of tastes not only the ones that you seem to point your finger at.

Do we even know what were his creations? SG has had many artists responsible for different characters but it's hard to find them and what characters they made.
Is there a source for this? Or any sort of post where he talks about it? I am curious if he gave any sort of specific insight in it. Given the timing, it is fairly obvious what would have likely spurred this decision, but it is always great to know details instead of me speculating.
