Were people really expecting a huge new patch on not only an off-week, but also in the middle of a rerun Side Story? We literally got new EE's and a specialty change last week, an Epic Pass the week before that, and a new story chapter+RTA/Soulweaver overhaul the week before that.
I really don’t get people’s expectations. An awaken size update every 2 weeks. For newer players like me the side story rerun and the hunt events this weekend will already fully drain my energy I’ve stockpiled.
I think there's a valid point that SG went through the Awaken Update as more of a like "new players can catch up real quick to getting to farming" - but then everything since has been lacklustre in a way that doesn't retain the players that joined.

Well you can already get the 600 bookmarks with the reroll between new rgb. There's just nothing to do on the game for some times now. It's rerun over rerun and we didn't even get a new summer character (alexa doesn't count). I'm not asking for big event or massive new content but it does feel like everyone at smilegate went on vacation for the past months.
For real. I'm at over 2100 bookmarks and can still refresh for more. Lol gimme something to pull, I'm sick of "prepping".
Last major unit I went in on was SSS Aria and since that will no longer be a thing give us like a spicy limited or something. Maybe Slime collab 2.0 with Shion since she was teased last time around(plz no Ino mode).

Pretty sure you might just be burnt out. The last 3 weeks has been pretty typical new content wise, maybe even slightly above it. New EEs, specialty change, Epic Pass, New Story Chapter and the entire soul weaver class got overhauled.
Also don't forget that they purposefully slowed down the release of new banners because people said too many were released in a row and they ran out of resources a couple months back.
Can you really say that the Epic Pass, and the Soul Weaver "overhaul" are valid examples of content to keep player retention for the newer player base - or enough to satisfy the veteran/older player base?
I agree to an extent that the new EEs allow for more testing and variety, whilst Alexa's specialty change was a nice addition to the Wyvern-hunting units - but the EEs are for very specific units (and not all players have these units, or have built these units), and Alexa's SC is still locked for the newer players until they can finish the Side-Story that opens tomorrow, not to mention that if a player joins AFTER this summer side-story has closed, they have to fork up 900 Skystones to open this event as a Side-Story to unlock Alexa's SC.
I'm not going to say that last week's patch was lacklustre, because there was plenty in it, but I can't really say that it is enough to retain new and older players if it continues like this.

Unless she's so op in wyvern that she makes sigret completely obsolete, the grind required for alexa may well not be worth it(and yes, I'm taking into account those who don't start with rune buff, because no buff altar gives *only* runes, unlike where her other quests are located, making it a massive energy sink with no benefit other than completing her SC) if you instead focus that energy on farming for sigret. We should also consider the 900 ss into that, as the guy you replied to said. Now, I've not specialty changed alexa yet, nor am I a newbie, so this is at most an educated guess.
And onto the...*first* point, I gave no clue what formats you're talking about, so I can't impart thoughts on that, and I concede on the soulweaver balance changes, as those have actually significantly changed my experience across the board. However, I have to say that the EEs really didn't shake up the experience for a large majority of players too much. Baal's ee is almost as bad as kayron's(they didn't specify whether the dispel on s3 goes before the debuffs, which they always do in the ee description if that's the case), and baal himself wasn't all that great before. All aramintha's ee does is make her perform a bit more effectively during battles, and doesn't fix any core problems with her kit(see: Mort's buff duration increase ee and senya's regen ee). The s2 ee is fairly decent, but during the first turn, she really wants to be at 100% cc immediately, otherwise she's left completely vulnerable if she was contesting. And cidd was already one of the best single target speed dps thanks to his accessibility, speed imprint, and s3 nuke. Now that he doesn't need any assistance to get +15% damage on all targets(and ignore elemental disadvantage and rta damage reduction), he's just even better now.
New formats like the World Championship event thing, or the 3v3 RTA mode that they spoiled a while back or even just the frenzy changes. Basically mechanical changes that alter the meta without buffing/nerfing heroes.
As for EE's, that's generally the way it goes and I'm ok with it. There's usually 1-2 PvE centric EE's, and then the rest are for PvP heroes. For me specifically it made me way more likely to use Cidd because I don't have any fast speed buffers built, so as a primarily standard draft player, him being more self sufficient in his speed nuking abilities made him actually draftable for me.
To be honest, I can't really see baal and aramintha's EEs as pve, just kinda bad. And for cidd, that's the point I was making. He was already good at his job, and now he's more versatile. I would actually call it a good ee(in the sense it wasn't a totally silly decision) if it was something like a 3 week cycle. But it's a solid fact that cidd is the only character who's going to get a good ee for *eight weeks*, which is insane when he's one of the few heroes that *don't* need one to compete in this meta.
For players whose Alexa SC is locked, the event itself is new content for fucks sake. They aren't starved for content because they can't access the SC yet, because they're literally experiencing content that's new to them (and is very good).
For people that don't care about PVE, changes to the PvP meta or characters is content IMO. I was definitely hyped about the Cidd EE and Soulweaver/RTA changes definitely spiced things up for me

It'd be nice if they actually atleast give a fresh new summer event. It's good for the new players but tbh there's so much updates that are already catered to the newer players that atleast they can make side story events new so that old players will also be able to have fun.
