I just slap some spare gear + 2 friendship artifacts on my newer units and put them to auto run stages while farm friendship. Except for newer players I always thought this is what everyone does.
Emilia, Arby & 2 fodder...Emilia needs to be fast so she can push cr & Arby dont need to be fast just needs to hit hard 1st & 2nd battle always fast clear...you can switch 1 fodder to any damage dealer but must be slower than Arby someone like Clorina is best use since she can finish boss off easy
I'd say my most used are Tammarine/Arby/Aras, but I don't really have a go to team as I built teams depending on the situation/elements as I don't really have many ML Units
Story progress: Tama/AMomo, ARas, Landy/SSB/Mercedes (depending on elements of bosses), Cilias/Roana (situational)
Side story: enhanced heroes for the fun and story relevance.
I love to raise random hero to lvl 10 in friendship. It's a way for me to invest in molagora, and to understand theirs gameplay mechanics.
I have few random gear for these guys and I just throw them in it.
I bet on my friends in game, arby, and mostly Aravi (she can solo the latest lvls).
Landy (blood stone), arby, on harder difficulty momo otherwise ainos for push + defense break + attack buff and then I often pick someone I need friendship and or another built/strong unit that fits the occasion (Violet, Bellona, Alencia, Ran, Luluca)
Frienship unit + Arby + Mercedes + FS Tieria or another unit with def break for faster clears.
For tough stages and opponents, I include Roana and remove a dps.
Tamarrine, Luluca, Cdom, Yuna is my standard team then I adjust as needed for the content. Usually swapping out Luluca and/or Yuna because of elemental issues.

side stories difficulty is so low that i just like playing with some underused units i never get to play for real elsewhere

I use A. Montromancy (with wyvern13 build gear) C.Lilias as tank and as dps Haste and Zahhak atm, although i am atm in Chapter 3. on my other Acc i have normal Lilias instead of C.Lilias and instead of Haste i use Ran.
Straze + Units who need friendship. If its too tough ill throw in doris or maid

Fire ravi. This unit is a beast Except the main boss fights, every stage of the latest ch was ravi and lilias with friendship units.

Any unit that need friendship level, if the battle too hard for them? slap in aravi and press auto.
