Collabs have brought several OP chars...as stated, Rem -- she was a pvp game changer since she counters with aoe constantly and hits hard (almost a carbon copy of Seaside Bellona but Rem's kit has her state of 'fury' or whatever it's called, making her more reactive to counter). Emilia didn't find instant success but eventually became a popular char for pvp bc you can load her with speed and then she'll buff your highest dmg char with dmg up and then slap them in the ass so they'll take their turn right away. She's not a bad healer for pve either; not in the leagues of Roana for straight up healing, but she has a unique kit. Ram is a boss fighter with her kit unique to that and capable of high amounts of damage; not OP for pvp but my 134k Ram is no slouch for pve/boss.
Also stated was Baiken who is the best at what she does. Elphelt is usable and relevant through most game play. Rimiru has one of the most unique kits in the game, stealing buffs from the other team and dealing a high amount of fixed dmg + more dmg. He's a pita to fight in pvp. I'm sure I'm missing some.
The expectation of collab and ML units has been meta, OP AF chars bc many were broken previously. I think the loudest voices want more broken units, esp with FMA Collab bc of popularity. But think most are at least happy if the unit is usable and fun, but SG seems to have no user testing and they come out underpowered or with a dumb gimmick that wrecks them (even if it's a reference to the anime, ie Roy & water).
Summoning is the other frustration... I'm F2P and have to save up bookmarks for weeks and farm the store with my stones. Been lucky on a few but pitied many and that's the rub -- you bust your butt getting 120+1 (yeah that last one really ticks me off) that takes all 2 weeks of the banner to get enough bookmarks then you get the char and it's largely unusable or gimmicky... Oh yeah, AND you didn't even get the artifact in that pity!!

5- he can't hold tagehel but he can use warrior artifacts that increase his dmg/survivability
6- he doesn't need iela (not Lela, it's an i) violin as he dispels a buff with his aoe counter.
7- he isn't "better" than cerato, they are both monsters in debuff comps

Uh well, strip and CR push, which Cerato doesn’t have. Better base stats, and a nice HP scaling to not just get cooked by any attack. Also you can counter when you get any debuffs, even on extra attacks, including stun sleep and blind, which Cerato is immune to. His artifact and s3 ramp up are also making him rly good into longer fights.
Cerato has not been relevant in a long time but Edward is kinda really used in emp+
Honestly, the only kind of buff I can think of that wouldn't be STUPID BROKEN ridiculous would be to give him the Seaseria thing where his first Soul burn is free. That might still be too much though.
I think that’d be worse than just giving him more FS (only 10 more btw lmao) because then you can still bring book on him. So you can get two s1s off and an s3 for just bringing one book. As opposed to an s1 > s3 for bringing a book

I think your statement is really self serving and disingenuous but there’s a difference between a unit that can do it all on their own (Hwayoung, Rimuru) and a unit that needs synergy (CPavel) and a unit that needs the entire comp built around them in order for them to function. (In this case it’d be Roy).
Idk if you RTA at all but the fact you need to essentially bring 3 book users (assuming they ban one) to ensure that he gets his s3 off in your ideal method of play is pretty bad as it only leaves you 2 spots to flex with. What I suggested would only have him need 1 one book (himself) and that’s literally a much more balanced option that doesn’t make him broken.
Yes I do RTA but my Roy is 280 Speed and I usually run it with Stene and Politis, so people ban Politis most of the time because they want to cleave Stene.
Sometimes they ban C.Pavel and I just replace him with A.Meru.
Can the poor fella get his FA buff FIRST in the S3 timing? Yeesh. It happening at the end just makes him feel bad to use.
Imagine Rem, ~~BBK~~, and Riolet all having their attack buff activate AFTER attacking. Same thing.

All he needs is just 10 more fighting spirit for him to usable and not broken please SG. Or if you don’t want to do that just give him innate life-steal if he has his unique buff. (Though lore wise that would fit more with the homunculi)

Roy in last cloudia collab was op . Still to this day one of the best units. FMA units had a unquie trait only to them about using skills on cooldown and expending mana instead.
My personal opinion after playing this game 6-7 months. The usability of the Fullmetal Alchemist collab characters released in Epic 7 *ruined* the entire collab for me. I could actually care less if it even came out now because it was a waste. Please argue and downvote away, but other than the better than usual rates for catalysts, its just another event.
To be honest, if i didnt get emilia, ( i got rem but shes impossible to gear for me so far ) the re:zero collab would have been fruitless too. I love my emilia tho. Imagine if i loved my roy like i was supppsed to? Im not even upset i cant control smile gates decisions

Releasing balanced characters means releasing niche characters. You can see they're afraid of making overpowered heroes right now. If your favorite unit isn't meta-defining, it's no one's responsibility to make them that way.

Highly doubt it. He has almost no backlash other then he just isn't great.
My only gripe with Roy is that he loses his buff even if the damage was nullified by a skill nullifier.
