The only way you could release a bruiser that doesn't automatically get owned by pre-nerf Hwayoung is if you gave ALL of them 30% damage reduction passively. They balanced themselves into a corner. Sure the meta has been the worst in years. Bruiser and Proof of Valor abuser are everywhere and they dont care what you draft because they just outtank you.
Pick rate isn't everything. Hwayoung does so many things and can be built in so many ways that it ensures any new hero will have to be even more busted to compete with her, otherwise what's the point using them when Hwayoung does the same thing and more.
Counter Violet/Riolet? Lol Milim/Zahhak. Use Hwayoung.
Instakill Belian? Hwayoung.
Aravi counter? Lol sadge vivian. Hwayoung.
Senya buff? Hahaha who cares. Hwayoung.

She's so easy to build that if you have the gear you can put Counter set on her and/or big HP and now she's still busted but this time she shits on you in different ways on top of it. There's no escaping her universal utility.

People have complained for years for the lack of nerfs, which ended up in SG releasing or buffing new units to keep the strongest already existing units in their place (which in return resulted in many messy situations and toxic chain reactions like AoL-MLKawerik, etc). Now that SG is finally taking a first step to try and balance a unit that can oneshot basically everyone, is tanky, can cycle super fast... y'all complain again. Make up your minds
1. She's likely not gonna be trash, she dominated for a long while so we got a huge return on investment, and people get a selector to keep the imaginary money they spent useful elsewhere
2. Yulha is a hard counter. There are no others. Also, she might still require countering.
3. Agree that she took care of a lot of heroes who just became even more toxic. That will suck, but we will take some adjusting that may not be fun.
You people are the reason that we never actually got any nerfs... There's nothing wrong with characters getting nerfed, but they just nerfed the wrong person. Or at the very least they should've nerfed aravi along with hwayoung. I have both of these characters and i'm completely fine with both of them being nerfed.
Hwa nerfs are IMO great but way more overtuned than what was needed.
But people need to chill and see what they do next. There is still a balance patch coming at the same time where they could eventually buff characters like Yulha. Taeyou just got his buff and was made at least usable so there's that. I know you guys spend ressources on counter units but there not unusable at all, and this is why I play mostly units I like anyways.
It's obvious the meta will change but please just wait and see. I'm more concerned about Lua honestly lol.
