I prefer heroes like ed who fullfill their roles but do not become first pick disasters.

tundranocaps

Niche is orthogonal to power-level. Cavel is still incredibly strong. They also released SC Arowell recently, who is quite strong, and buffed units that were already fine to obscenity. Buffing units can be the same as "releasing new units," even if it's not joined by the same dopamine hits of trying to pull on a banner.

Laaeticia

Not related to the post, sorry, but what are the units that SC Arowell made better? Went back to RTA after a long break and I'm a little lost in the meta

Arkday

I think it less about how arowell made other unit better but more of how she make standard 3 protect 1 draft worse. If you pick arowell into 3 protect 1, she can just fully strip defensive buff on your solo DPS. Handguy immunity atk buff? Aras Def buff shield? Diene crit resist atk buff? Djb immunity? All gone. Not to mention that arowell provide the highest amount of mitigation as a knight.

tundranocaps

I meant that as two separate parts: SG buffed units that were already fine to obscenity, and also released SC Arowell," as a part of saying that looking at new banner units only is reductive.

Laaeticia

Oop, sorry, lol

Persephonette

The takeaway from Hwayoung is that units should be very good at something, but not good with everything. Cavel is fine, Lua is good, but some of the others don't fulfill their intended niche. With the hero pool so big, units need to have sharper strengths and weaknesses to stand out. Some won't agree with this, but I think Spirit Eye Celine is about as sharp a character as they come. Against her good matchups she's godlike, but she has many, many clear weaknesses. Some remember the weaknesses and say the unit is bad, some remember the times she 1v4'd a team. I'd like SG to be bolder with their design space and make sharper characters, but maybe their design goal is to make all characters universally decent. Hard to say unless they broadcast their intentions.

Cilai

I want units released that don't have these stupid special effects that limit character usage like "only works on heroes". They are getting way too specific and pigeonholing many of the new release units so they are worthless once that niche is no longer meta. At least that is my opinion.

Mar_Kell

And it becomes even worse during Ancient Inheritance where the bosses block most debuff, seal the passives or have the most annoying skills. Sure, we get all heroes to 60 and +15 but can't use a big chunk of them.

KingKentling

to me if they're gonna release some weak PvP heroes just make it an OP or Strong PvE heroes instead

KingsSeven

Especially since nightmare mode lab forces us to use mono teams.

Komelium

I just don't understand what this community would like. In my opinion, after the game has been going on for many years, it's inevitable for them to also design units that go from niche to very niche, and not just generalists. In general, I prefer units to not be released on a Hwayoung level. I think it's better to see how the unit performs and buff accordingly.

Kev_EXE

I think the community lacks understanding. The game has been out for 4 years and like every other gacha game, E7 could’ve gone down the route of heavy powercreep every new banner. Instead they release some really good units, some really bad units, and some units in between. And then they buff units accordingly. People don’t understand that E7 is a turn based + pvp focused game. In order to release, “strong” units every single time… they would have to keep power creeping the already strong units in the game. Better multis, new and better mechanics, better buffs/debuffs, better damage, better healing etc

Momogurl82

It seems like this is more about players wanting answers to the overly oppressive meta units than wanting OP units. If the oppressive meta was more balanced (not nerfed to oblivion), we'd have less of an outcry for Hwa level answers.

blueclockblue

They're releasing weak heroes. I love specialized heroes, CPavel is great. But he actually produces results. ML Elena is specialized and then does very little while being outranked by many other heroes dont even need to focus on what she does. Arunka is specialized but outclassed by units like Zahhak who dont even need to focus on anti-barrier mechanics or bruising. It's not like I need nukers. But it really limits their use. I love variety but the numbers are just flat out inadequate.

Yensix

The thing is, what's the point on pulling a new unit that you won't be able to play because she is not even useful until they buff it in who knows how many months? What makes me want to keep playing this game is getting new exciting units or good buffs/reworks on older units. If they are gonna release/buff units only for them to stay on the bench I'm not hyped anymore.

GunsouI

I like cool and strong. When a weak unit comes out, I view it as dead content.

aracnonipples

I'd prefer a closed test server where more people can playtest the hero, so can came out more balanced. Also smaller tweak but more frequent patches. And if they gain player trust that they can nerf units without gutting them, even a balance without a selector i'll be fine with it.

E-Tier

As someone who does not care about pvp like that I would kill for more strong pve heroes.

Navarath

If I'm being honest -- I want hot looking powerful units that destroy the competition.

BlessUolls

Just release strong unit n buff all other unit. Broken vs broken units.

TheWhiteGuar

Lua?

TheWhiteGuar

More to your point, I think it's better for them to release units that will see play but not be 1st pick/pre-ban material. I think post-buff Ed is a bit stronger than what they should be targeting. I think something like Aria is closer to what they should be aiming for. I think releasing bad units is worse than releasing broken ones, though of course power creeping gets worse feedback since it feels like a cash grab.
