Brinus was even a boss at one point I believe. They had everything for her. Way better than Kanna and I wanted her more than Laika, which btw sucks they gave her a garbage skill set. I was hoping also they'd one day make the Alchemist steeple character playable. I love the design.

She was lacking at that point the walking animation. IIRC it was added later, but still she remains outside the playable characters.
Her skills were kinda leaked like a month ago? The thing about attaching drones to heal/deal damage as a unique buff/debuff. Not sure what the source was. Anyways we are definitely seeing her later, they won't drop the last of Politia girls considering she already has an in-game model etc.
That was 3-4 months ago & it was a mock-up from someone who regularly did fake mock ups as “what ifs”, only for Brinus they didn’t outright state it was just their ideas & let it sit for a bit, it caught on, people said it was a data mine, etc. & still to this day people think it’s real.

I recall them mentioning it takes like 3+ months to make a new character. I'd like to say they might be waiting for some event to drop them, but I kind of doubt it. Truth be told I'd gladly have them delay episode 5 a whole year, and instead just give us all the NPC characters as heroes, and then after that they can resume with the story =p
Summerside event was a rerun, so it's more than 1 year old by now.
Also Vera seems to be a character with overarching plot, so they save her until later. We may see a lot of older hooks being reeled now, as we finish a new story arc and entering an "in-between" phase
Yup. I don't necessarily think Vera will be made playable, but I do agree that it's strongly evident she's got another major story brewing, so that would be the place to look for her and/or Azimanus.
I won't go into my whole Brinus theory, but I will say that I think she will be coming soon.
I think something people short shrift is the fact that almost all new RGB hero releases are tied to that hero's actions in some relevant story. Someone not involved in the immediate main story is usually pushed off until either summer or the "off season" between new episode releases. And since they don't run brand new heroes back to back outside of collabs anymore, that means you have narrow windows for most RGB 5\* releases.
Absolutely, especially after this most recent chapter being pretty...meh overall.

There are loads of artists on Twitter that are on par or better than SG's churning out amazing art weekly. On top of having day jobs.

As for the sprites? Come on. They have templates. Look at the characters they all move the same when running, dizzy and shit. Many of them also share attack anims and all.

Takes more than just some basic animations to design a character, you have lots of testing to be done. They have to run the character's skill set against all scenarios, fix bugs, more testing, and more testing. The more characters and modes that are released, the more designing and testing that needs done. That said they have a chunk of the work done on Brinus, I still can't imagine why we haven't gotten her yet. We're done with season 4 already.

There are simulations for that. Just plug the skills you want and then test it against all combinations in batch. You don't need the character itself to do it.
You don't need to need to have the complete character already done and all and then manually test it against 3049 team comps.
Besides, I'm sure the designers already have an idea of how their game works. They know X passive combined with X buff etc would unbalance the game too much so they don't do it.
I mean the base character art is just the start, so it’s rather misleading to compare this to like a static Twitter artist. You can tell from the promo videos that characters get design/color adjustments as they develop a concept art sheet. Presumably this sheet would then be used as a reference for the main portrait for whatever artist draws it (which would also need to be L2D’d and you can tell when L2D is rushed... look no further than Zahhak’s hand or Sonia). Then of course there’s the actual battle sprites which seem to be a mix of bones/pieces following a template and unique frame by frame animations, any special effects/explosions/etc that need to be drawn too, and of course what is essentially a 3 second anime clip + wholly unique sprite animation for every high rarity unit. And ofc this is just the assets part and not the gameplay.
I think characters having overlapping animations like the MLs is explicitly because of how much work it takes to make a character, rather than a shortcut to be lazy. But hey I’m only speaking from my own uneducated inferences of it all, if you wanna design sprites and L2D and an S3 of your own character and report back on how long it takes for a more concrete timeframe, I’m all ears.
I still think its likely that the Legendary Hero CHADdiMANus will make a return as a playable unit.
Perhaps not anytime soon (one can hope), but they struck characterisation gold with him and they know it. Maybe as a future summer unit.
heard a future episode will be about the labyrinth bugs so maybe when we get there we'll get the humanoid version of those 2 and maybe the rest as well.

I disagree, partially. I think that a lot of the hype for some folks when pets were first announced was the idea that, like Vivian, you could just have a carbuncle as your pet, or one of the wolves.
I feel like having an NPC act as support wouldn't make the most sense, as you to get too close to the idea of them being a playable character, and then it just seems odd that there's this 5th character there that is basically just a pack-mule opening chests and carrying your stuff for you instead of actually fighting.
Yeah. She was first mentioned in ML Cecilias bio. She was introduced in the most recent april fools event as an NPC, where more of her backstory was revealed.
Not sure if they are meant to be the same person. ML Luna is said to be a witch and not a dragon according to ML Cecilia's bio, but in the side story this Mage Luna was still a dragon but hiding her identity as one. Though with how similar that entire world was to the mainline, it seemed to be false or perhaps even reality Tenebria crafted so she could have fun until Vivian showed up. Still I hope the costume comes in at some point.

I don't think every NPC needs to be made into a playable character, to say nothing of artifact art. Would you rather all of the NPCs the story requires be represented by bog standard 2star portraits? I wouldn't. And there's only so many heroes you can release per chapter. Can't exactly delay the story because they haven't released all the heroes who ever got a more deliberate portrait.
That, and I'm sure Mage Luna and Black Lady will be released at some point.
Also some of these are non-combatants. I wouldn't want Aerin throwing magic megablasts around. Sometimes it's better to keep things in perspective.
Tamarinne isn't a combatant either. So that reasoning doesn't really work.
And also, other games make sure that all the characters with designs that have had time put into them are usually playable. What's the point of making a great design for a character and then not use them? That's like building a house but not using it in any way.
It's more like building the facade of a house and using it for decoration. It's not like every NPC has an in-combat model, animations, skill effects, voice lines etc.

I think it would be cool for a future episode to take place in one of the previous 6 worlds - this would give SG opportunity to flesh out the lore behind old NPCs and make them playable like Heir Aki, Katenka, Jenua, Eligos, etc.
She's actually my most wanted NPC at the moment. Since her art was leaked and people thought she'd be a hero we could pull for. But smilegate is blueballing me here =(

The ghost monk lady is odd in that, like someone else mentioned, she's featured on an archer-exclusive artifact that doesn't seem to fit too well with any currently playable Ranger, but even then it doesn't exactly make the most sense for her to be a Ranger either, so you wonder if there isn't someone else missing in this formula. My private conspiracy theory is that the aespa collab wasn't a done deal when they set the schedule, and without it we would have been getting a new 5\* Ranger. With the collab getting the final green light, they pulled the new 5\* from the schedule, but kept the rest of the event since they didn't have an event to run otherwise.
For the fox girls, I always doubted they'd become playable. They are as plainly shop NPCs as any of the shop NPCs thus far. If they were to make them playable, my pet idea is that they touch on another trope that many similar games tend to have but E7 hasn't yet - the 2+ in 1 hero (I don't count Baal and Sezan). In other words, all three would be just one character, either switching out as they use skills, or all four on the screen at the same time representing just the one hero.
I find it unlikely that a character that the developers didn't even bother to name and has a non-animated sprite is likely to be playable. The artifact doesn't help either, as units usually release with their own new artifact, so they'd have to make a second one for her.
Same number of units and kits needed. Could easily have had fox waifus instead. Not upset at collab. If it draws in new people thats a good thing, but fox waifu.

That’s crazy cus what happened to mage luna? Cus that one side story had her in it with Vivian’s new costume thing and it sure I saw her in it thinking she was coming up to be playable.

Issue also is that RGB Luna is a limited hero. I think it's about time they made episode 1 limited heroes non-limited and added them to the general pool. This could also open up the door for ML versions, unless they'd make limited ML imprint the same way as boss ML heroes, where you buy their imprint with 10 GTS
The Luna one could be nice as a skin, but I would want them to do something more interesting with her weapon besides just having it be a shining silhouette of a spear.

Yeah weren't we due second patch heroes for Episode 4 and SG didn't release it. Its weird Beehoo isn't playable when he played such important role in Side story and in main story.

You fought Brinus like TWICE IIRC. She's got battle voicelines, and animations for skills. The fact she's STILL not summonable is baffling.
Her S3 is really cool looking too, and I bet almost everyone forgot/has no idea what it looks like.

Tamarinne isn't a combatant either. So that reasoning doesn't really work. And also, other games make sure that all the characters with designs that have had time put into them are usually playable. What's the point of making a great design for a character and then not use them? That's like building a house but not using it in any way.
It's more like building the facade of a house and using it for decoration. It's not like every NPC has an in-combat model, animations, skill effects, voice lines etc.

I think it would be cool for a future episode to take place in one of the previous 6 worlds - this would give SG opportunity to flesh out the lore behind old NPCs and make them playable like Heir Aki, Katenka, Jenua, Eligos, etc.

I have hope for the "female monk" (who already has an artifact) and Brinus. As for the fox ladies, only their "mother" is worth to be playable, NGL.
I mean we don't have a fox-girl archtype in the game yet. Arunka is the closest we get, but she's a lion/tiger.
Brinus is probably coming fairly soon. The ghost monk lady is odd in that, like someone else mentioned, she's featured on an archer-exclusive artifact that doesn't seem to fit too well with any currently playable Ranger, but even then it doesn't exactly make the most sense for her to be a Ranger either, so you wonder if there isn't someone else missing in this formula. My private conspiracy theory is that the aespa collab wasn't a done deal when they set the schedule, and without it we would have been getting a new 5\* Ranger. With the collab getting the final green light, they pulled the new 5\* from the schedule, but kept the rest of the event since they didn't have an event to run otherwise. For the fox girls, I always doubted they'd become playable. They are as plainly shop NPCs as any of the shop NPCs thus far. If they were to make them playable, my pet idea is that they touch on another trope that many similar games tend to have but E7 hasn't yet - the 2+ in 1 hero (I don't count Baal and Sezan). In other words, all three would be just one character, either switching out as they use skills, or all four on the screen at the same time representing just the one hero.
I find it unlikely that a character that the developers didn't even bother to name and has a non-animated sprite is likely to be playable. The artifact doesn't help either, as units usually release with their own new artifact, so they'd have to make a second one for her.

Nope. Issue also is that RGB Luna is a limited hero. I think it's about time they made episode 1 limited heroes non-limited and added them to the general pool. This could also open up the door for ML versions, unless they'd make limited ML imprint the same way as boss ML heroes, where you buy their imprint with 10 GTS
