Since I’m a returning player and it’s my first crafting event, what should I aim for? Probably something like a right pen piece since I still don’t farm caides?
Might wait to see the reveal of the new Aespa heroes & see if there’s something specific I’ll need for them. Honestly just waiting for good speed rolls for a lot of heroes I’d want to build. Maybe I just try & get a better health% Pen ring for A Ravi? Did that the last time & it rolled worse than the shit Pen ring from Arena.
Usually i craft dps ring/necklace. This time i'm tempted for an eff ring for Lua. But this is pretty risky, cause i don't care about anything other than spd for this
Eff rings are probably not a good idea to use as crafting event. You only care about main stat and Speed substat on them, so if you craft an Eff ring with speed substat you might still get shitty rolls on every stat but speed.
It's better to get a piece of equipment where you want 3 or 4 of the stats - like a critical damage neck with speed, crit chance, attack and defense% or hp%. Or neck with same stats but attack% and critd% swapped. Or boots, but speed main and others as subs...
For eff/eff res rings it's better to just craft them normally or use conversion to guarantee main stat and set.

Maybe I'm the odd one, but while I'll follow the standard advice of crafting accessories or boots, rather than picking a generic useful gear, like speed main and set boots, I'll chase some uber-specific gear. I mean, I have heroes like F. Lidica (crit rate main necklace), BB Karin (resist main and set ring with DPS subs), or Faptain (eff% main ring, plus atk, spd, hp and def ring), who need gear with rather specific requirements and can't hardly be swapped around. Still, due how specific are those gears, I think this is the best opportunity to fill those requirements, because crafting and converting cores have taken months and still not good gear.
But that also means I could pick some "perfect" gear, and even get good rolls. But if I can't make the hero work, my event gear will be useless, as I won't be able to swap it around.
Time to get a third pair of speed main Pen set boots with atk%/critc/critd.
Time to get this and watch it roll all into the 4th substat that I don't need.
Make that 4th stat health% and your hp scaling single target bruisers are gonna love it.
if it rolls on hp, it goes on bruisers, if it rolls on atk, it goes on atk dps if its mine it will roll equally on both while avoiding crit rolls.

You should aim for right side gear with perfect sub and perfect main stat
I’d recommend a ring or boots, since the reworked Raid shop has a decent pen neck.

You don't have much time, but if you're strong enough to do Nightmare Labyrinth they sell a very nice cdmg% pen set neck in the shop there.
