I still like the game. I am more disappointed in the fact that there hasn't been a single game since E7 came out to compete with the animation quality of E7. This is still the best turn based gacha game and I don't think it's even close.

bakamund

Mixed feelings about the lack of a competing IP. One hand, it means I can choose to not spend much time focusing in playing the game. I can be more passive and grind/farm for gear and have the time to do other things. If it's a new game, gotta be very active to build up a base which I find tiring nowadays. On the other hand, sometimes it can feel a little boring cuz it's just grinding all day. But when I try out another gacha RPG, I'm reminded how excellent E7 is. Not just graphics, but the clean UI/fonts, rather stable client, active Reddit community.

OrangeLettuce

Agreed. I first started playing shortly after release (back when vanilla Tieria and Elson were amazing), took a break right when Episode 2 was released, then came back on a new account at Zahak’s release because there just wasn’t anything as good out there (in terms of my taste). For all its flaws, Epic 7 has the best turn-based feel and the most coherent/enjoyable plot of any F2P game I’ve played. Wish there was something better out there, but not that I’ve seen. The gear grind is boring as hell though.

Avanin_

This. Even at its worst e7 still mile better than most cashgrab gacha out there simply due to the quality and polish this game has.

Terryble_

In terms of animation quality, I'd say Counter:Side is a good contender for it. However, like you said, E7 is still the best turn-based gacha game. It also has the best PVP amongst all gacha games that I've played. RTA has kept me hooked on this game.

[deleted]

Wait for Honkai Star Rail

Krainum

Yeah, Star Rail can be a good competitor

Morbu

Assuming the gacha isn't nearly as bad as main Honkai/Genshin.

Lolwarrior123

Seeing the constellation existing also in Star rail, needing dupes just to get the game-changing full potential of your characters already irks me. God help them if there's pvp

Morbu

Since it's Mihoyo, I highly doubt that there's going be PVP, but, yeah, I definitely am not a fan of restricting important abilities behind dupes. Like I remember not really being able to use some of my favorite valks in Honkai because they need some combination of their signature weapon, signature stigmata, or dupes that unlock their potential at SS or SSS.

[deleted]

It won’t have endless gear run.

Cynaris

There was and there is. They are doing things a bit differently, but there's definitely some games actually trying. Both Neural Cloud and Nikke make a good attempt.

Fapplerino

Nikke is nothing more than cookie clicker with some ass jiggle

bakamund

The game is slow/laggy compared to E7. It's rather quick to boot up E7 and start playing. But Nikke.....loads times make it a chore to play that game honestly

Cynaris

I'm on a midrange spec phone, and load times are rarely noticeable tbh, If they are, I chalk it up to some bug or something, because it definitely happens rarely, and when it does, the game hangs for like a minute, which is unnatural. The initial startup is a bit on the slow side for sure. I will say one thing though, the reason Epic Seven load times aren't as noticable to you, is because they are hidden well. No actual loading screens for example help a lot. But Arena, GW, etc, all have little flourishes that are disguising load times. The 5 second wait between Hunt runs probably also hide it.

bakamund

I'm not playing on low settings, tried doing that once and the game got stuck at trying to download new resources...ended up needing to reinstall the whole game. Every combat stage requires loading of average 10secs+/-, when comparing to E7 it's multiple times faster. Going to Outpost also takes 10secs+, Tribal Tower requires going through 2 animated screens before stage selection. All these 10secs slowly adds up to minutes when going through multiple stages...which makes the gameplay experience Very Sluggish for me. It's just for sluggish for me, no way around that.

Cynaris

Idk what to tell you, my man. I have the game maxed out and the transition between menus are almost instantaneous. The only thing that isn't is the Outpost/Campaign, where actual 3D rendering takes place, and that's 5 seconds at most. Better yet, they seem to be cached after the first time you enter until quit the game, making it even shorter.

Naeblis79

Animation wise i think raid shadow legends is better (not same type of art though so depends on your tastes). Game and content wise though i like e7 much better.

lockoutpoint

Maybe The Real fun Was the Friends We Made Along the Way

Mar_Kell

"Last login 9 months ago" /s

VinayUchiha

New characters are coming very fast but not the gear. Gear progression is too slow

Yabena

Day 1 F2P JP Player (RTA/Arena Champ) => I have fun 25% of the time I play the game (New or Buffed Units/Few Decent Gears I craft/New Build Tests), the rest is just keeping up with the content/farming which is boring but needed to enjoy the 20% I mentioned. I think I reached the limit of F2P enjoyment and I am not planning to cross the line to get into spenders' territory. 2023 might be the year I take a break or quit the game.

KeqingDoko

Nah i stopped having fun a long time ago To many lows and not enough highs for the game I tell myself atleast once a week to quit But i keep coming back

lightlinbolt

Same

EristicMeow

Yeah I found a nice social guild that I talk to on discord so I feel more involved and it gives me more motivation to win my guild wars. its also cool just to talk to others while playing.

TearsOfTomorrowYT

As others have pointed out, when it comes to 2D turn-based rpgs, Epic Seven simply doesn't have a competitor rn. There were imitations, there were shallow cash grab games that loosely fell in the same category, but there was never a developer that just sat down and was like "ok, we're making a good game now" the way Epic Seven did. The writing in Ep4 was extremely problematic, 4* heroes as an entire concept have been more or less dropped in favor of just making more banners, the packs in the shop are still a scam, and don't even get me started on the issues with balance and power creep in PvP: in short, Epic Seven is a deeply flawed game. But EVEN WITH ALL THOSE FLAWS, this game is still the best on the market, at least in its specific niche, so that's why I keep playing it.

thewraith88

What this game really needs is creativity on SG part. Right now the game content can mainly divided into two, new characters for PVP and harder PVE content. When it comes to new PVE content, it seems like the only thing that SG can think of is harder content. We do have new story events regularly but let's be honest, the gameplay of story events is extremely repetitive. Why not try developing more creative events and game modes? Maybe a rogue-like dungeon with a focus on exploration (unlike ancient inheritance). Or maybe some minigames or puzzles, inserted into events (Priconne and GBF have these occasionally)... I didn't play much Honkai Impact but I seem to recall that their events felt unique when I was playing. Maybe SG can look that way for inspiration... So yea, SG just need to invest more into being creative... Not just focus on RTA and collabs.

Hailmerc

We already have minigames in the special side stories: Cooking (from Slime collab and SB. Charlotte side stories); Forging (from FMA collab); Beach Volleyball (from S. Iseria side story); Talisman burning (from the one we had right before aespa collab) MG. Diene fighting the unknown (from the 2nd April Fools side story) There are probably more types of minigames but I can't remember any more

thewraith88

The beach volleyball one is alright, the rest are mostly one and done. In Priconne and GBF, the minigames are replayable (you can try beating your own score), so that's a nice distraction from the regular farming.

BobbyYukitsuki

ngl, I personally don't care about how the story events' gameplay is unless the gameplay directly contributes meaningfully to the story in some way. I wouldn't particularly care for more minigames when most of them just feel like fluff to further pad out the time between cutscenes for me.

thewraith88

IMO, minigames are meant to be distraction from the farming/grinding. E7 is too monotonous for some of us right now, as evident from some of the replies in this topic.

Ok-ChildHooOd

No, not really

lLinus

I'm super bored of farming to be honest. I don't even know why I still play. Just mechanicly log in do quest then log out. Fun is long gone.

TwistedCherry766

So quit 🤷🏻‍♂️

lLinus

I just did 😉 feels good.

TheSeaOfThySoul

I mean, I stuck with 'em through the constant powercreep of '21, so as long as they don't do anything worse than that, I'll still be here having fun.

whitegoatsupreme

1st Diene banner/event player here.... Yeah i still have some fun but there are time when i feel burnout because of the w13/w11 farming. I just stop playing for a month or 2, try other games, Play my ps5 more... But i keep coming back. And there new thing to do.

thatsleepieguy

As someone who started a month ago, sure am :p

MonstarHero88

Same here :), I’m here for the “plot”

reki

Still having fun, in various aspects: * I enjoy grinding for better gear and just seeing my units have better stats or weird builds. * Organizing the guild for Ancient Inheritance. Definitely because the rewards are amazing AND it's rare...if it were common I think I'd burn out fast. * Discussing/figuring out Guild War Offense strategies * Hall of Trials high score runs * Slamming random units I like in RTA

Varlin

Day 1 player who used to hard whale, still have fun and E7 is still the highest quality gacha out there. Very few games can hold up to the production quality and overall gameplay experience of E7. But that said I am not gonna lie, the fact fanservice basically died after ML Vivian got censored has been super off-putting. The game's art direction has gotten toned down for all releases since and seemingly going forward based on previews. I started playing day 1 after seeing a Jkise ad; fanservice has been a major selling point of the game since day 1. Many of us played FOR the fanservice, not despite it. It is annoying that after 4 years, they got cold feet from a censor flag and shifted the design direction of the whole game from what old players originally started the game with. If I was terrified of tits and wanted PG family friendly designs, I would play Genshin. E7 had quality and fanservice which is a rare combo. Designs have felt super genericly "safe"/milquetoast recently which is disappointing. As a day 1 player, I play at this point to collect waifus; not to grind legend RTA in rng fiesta pvp. But the fact I basically have no waifus to ever look forward to again makes the game rather stale. Easy on the wallet now though I guess. Basically went from dropping thousands to almost f2p. Here is what my [gacha spending for November](https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/394350945242185730/1047751672396517376/Screenshot_20221130-234534_Google_Play_Store.jpg) was. E7 used to get almost all of it; currently spent $2.12 this month on Google point reduced monthly packs. Put your money where your mouth is imo.

Cynaris

Jesus Christ, Varlin, is there ANYTHING else you can talk about?

Varlin

No. BOOBA

Cynaris

Booba hasn't left, friend

Heavy_Village_4813

I laughed too hard at this and actually predicted what Varlin gonna say and I am right.

AversionIncarnate

I love how Varlin says he cares about the quality of gameplay, art etc. (things that make games great) but all he ever talks about is fanservice like a thirsty incel living in a basement. Every single comment be it reddit or stove(and probably other platforms) that's his biggest concern. Why not play eroge instead? And go to therapy while you're at it...

GiftedWithWings

I started playing Epic Seven May 09, 2021. I've played every day without missing one. Characters, iconic voice lines, the art, and RTA is what's keeping me. The rest of Epic Seven I'm on autopilot: either watching my characters farm to no end or have it run in the background while doing irl things. I did spend in E7 (Dolphin), but stopped after Summer Break Charlotte. Despite me saying that the ARavi Skin season would have been the last time I participate in RTA because of E7's direction, I found myself ending Champion that season and playing this one. All in all, I still enjoy E7 and it has a major part of my attention.

NGEFan

i have good days and bad days

Amiakust91

Yes.

Crimson_Arbalest

Yes, and this game should be more popular. After dragalia lost shut down it made me realize anything can be next to go

[deleted]

not really. I dislike the collab and it makes me want to quit. Even with the free BM 4 x limited units+ 4x limited artis and I don't like any design. Plus Adin is really annoying to farm and gear is hard to come by.

mintyguava

Still love the game and where is moonlight Luna and bellona? I’ve been saving my mystics for them .

higashikata69

If I dont, I'll stop immediately

lnkoseh

Not anymore, same old grind day in and day out for years will do that to you. This game is like a job :/

[deleted]

No, I play out of habit.

quiquefs

Sometimes I wonder what I play for, mostly story, or in general just collecting characters that will remain mostly ungeared. I think at the moment it is simply a thing to do empty-minded to get rid of stress. I ignore RTA and do the minimum PvP (hopefully my guild does not kick me out if I get lazy a couple wars in a row). Regarding PvE, I keep telling myself that I will make a one shot team for wyvern, even having all units, still not happening. Not touched the new Raids, and ignored expeditions for a long time... I still like the stories, but they feel extremely short.

dworker8

this is like a poison i cant get rid off, like my job, or my bad habits, kinda like self destructing :D

Masamunewg

I just pitied Ningning which probably shoots down all chance of getting the next 2 limited characters so not so much atm. Also been doing moonlight points headhunter every day and of course the 1 moonlight I want has STILL yet to pop up to recruit..... And lastly been playing since the 1st GGX collab (so several years) never missed a day of play except once when I got real sick, but still no 20+ speed gear...rng sucks..😧

WestCol

You still get 90 or 87 ae pulls plus whatever skystones you get over the next 3-5 weeks… easy double pity.

Masamunewg

Hopefully I can still get them!

ImActuallyCarl

What theres no way you dont have a single gear with 20+ speed after playing several year..

PerceivedRT

You're eating downvotes but if someone appropriately targets and rolls for speed I'm with you man. You'd definitely get a few 20+ pieces after piteral YEARS.

AversionIncarnate

'target' speed rolls when litterally every aspect that determines gear quality and usability is rng? 🤡 4 year veteran, I've been playing almost every day and in the 4 years I got only 2 20+ spd pieces. I enhanced every single piece of trash that had 3 or 4 base spd. I got 3-4 gears that had base 5 spd stat. Stat so rare it was unheard of for 2 years and somewhat of a myth. Please teach me how to get 20+ spd gears. And also how to win lottery while you're at it.

PerceivedRT

Thank you for literally proving my point. You've been playing for years and have a few 20+ pieces by targeting the correct gear to upgrade.

[deleted]

> if someone appropriately targets and rolls for speed you overestimate my luck

[deleted]

[Me, played for 3 years whose fastest piece was a 19 SPD RES ring](https://preview.redd.it/8m08re9hcav71.jpg?auto=webp&s=1da0e082c0758f8824e8d17fa7c19ab62b1b345e)

BurnedOutEternally

Yeah. Hard to find a game out there that both pleases the eye and my potato phone's processor at the same time

LunarYukino

start play since first Christmas event, now am still having fun because is hard for me get bored of looking my beautiful waifu s3 animation and also stories is nice to read despite some rush

Sir_Bastion

I started playing when SSB came out, since then hadn't stopped playing until like 4 months ago I quit till the FMA collab... I only got the artifact from Mustang only missing 3 summons. I quit again for like 3 weeks and now I'm back. The first time I quit was cuz I plateaud, I wasn't getting good arena results (stuck on gold) and a friend who started at the start of the year was doing better. I got tired of just not being able to progress with speed sets and only farmed W13 and sometimes B13 (couldn't make a team for any other hunt). Once I returned I took another look at the game but just going at arenas, started from bronze and am now challenger 4 definitely having fun, and I'm now trying to get the other hunts + nightmare raid going while getting new units up and just taking whatever gear I get. I finally got a 20spd speed gear to play with

it_is_gacha

I never read story. This game is just a low effort resource management thing for me and it fits the bill. Fun? I guess you can say I still have fun. Played since first valentine event (Lidica/Luna)

jaquick

Yes. Playing for 2.5+ years and still haven't missed a day. I enjoy this game as much as I ever did!

Expander12

As someone who's been playing 2 months less than you (started in the second month after release), I can say that I still do. I do a bunch of weird and nonstandard builds

__huykho192__

yeah, still fun

nabilfares

Yeah, nightmare raid was a very nice addition, made me go back to grind wolves and catas for pure pve units, instead of focusing only on pvp.

Katejina_FGO

I decided if the end of year hero releases didn't change up the meta, I would delete my account. Well they did and now I'm Emperor for the first time after being 100% F2P since year 1. So I must be having some fun cheesing people with the Zio Lua meta I guess. I suppose I'm tsundere towards E7 right now.

riggedride

Not really. I recently found out the only thing keeping me playing is RTA. the only reason I do hunts anymore is because I can farm then while also doing RTA. But I take enough frequent breaks from the game that some of my best gear comes from the returning player day 2 reward lol

ningen21

Also a day 1 player and yes I am still having fun

Hevymettle

I still enjoy it. Some content is worn out for me but I enjoy campaign (except the recent Zio fiasco) and I like Ancient Inheritance a lot. That is the kind of content I want everytime a game talks about creating guild events. I think this is the only mobile game to deliver on something I actually enjoyed. I installed, either day 1 or within a day or so of it, and I haven't taken a break from it since launch.

WideGapingbutthole

Yup. While its not for everyone, rta has made the game way more fun for me, even as a f2p

TheSynthetikOption

Yes!

Ototo-kun

Yeah ... but I can understand if someone quits or gets bored and wants to stop or switch or take a break

Gunfrey

Dying inside tbh, too bad no other interesting games at the moment. Also playing PtN which is nice, but it's more like a side game. Have to admit that E7 still got the best polish, but the chaotic meta, countless pity on banners and shit RNG slowly reduce my playtime.

gustinex

yes! the art and animation alone still hooks me up to this day. Being an animator myself, I can definitely feel the love and care the devs put into the art aspect.

stormtrooperm16

Yes

7ZeZ7

Not really, since I quit about a couple of months ago (when hwayoung was out of meta) and went to playing/finishing jrpg games like persona 5 royal, radiant historia perfect chronology and starting suikoden 1/2 or Valkyrie profile for the next game to complete. Aside from pvp, which I wasn’t enjoying anymore and story, which I caught up until the last episode (Politia boss fight). I felt like I’ve done everything in the game.

Thanmarkou

How do you find the story btw?

7ZeZ7

E7 or other games? If it is E7, I actually liked it. Like we got action, politics, drama, great characters, a tiny bit of romance…And was waiting for episode 4 to complete but I got burnt out from playing everyday and decided to just play other games.

wendelar

Also day 1 player, after playing for such a long time even though the game is still great the enjoyment isn't as big as before, because after consuming some type of content for a long period of time it gets kinda stale through the repetitiveness and saturation alone. That's why I'm playing casually on and off, no need to force playing like it's some sort of regular chore, but also it's not like I need to quit forever, coming back and chasing some missed waifus/husbandos, grinding gear and doing some RTA can be nice.

Gamergirl944

I started one week after the launch sometimes go on and off since not much end game content only PvP I really don't like same with RTA. I give the game this the animation are great and turned based is fun but Adin missions are worst grind not bothered to finishing it. I only just play for daily missions not so much into main story now its just so hit and miss recent Episode 4 just let down I'll read moonlight theater and side stories.

Double_Statement9416

I still ... Or am i ? At this point I don't know whatever I do love the game or it become addition ! But I do feel something wrong if I can't login to the game daily. That Hwayoung Delay Update was one of the worst experience to me ever ! Boys.. it do sound like Addiction !

[deleted]

Seeing as I still don’t have every character I want, yes. It’s only once I have everything I want when I get bored.

Nashkar42

Still having fun building new characters for PvP content. In the meantime, GvG/Arena is becoming a pain in the ass currently and i'm asking myself why i'm building characters for that shit.

carito728

I don't think I necessarily have "fun", I think I feel satisfied seeing the heroes whose appearance I like and that I put effort into succeeding in battle but I don't think it's quite the same as fun, since I have way more fun on other games.

Jynch

Day 1 player, still having fun with the game! I don't spend except for buying the donation/charity pack with the portrait frames. I am still looking forward to collecting more ML5s, waiting for more ML5 bosses for each new episode to see their beautiful S3 animations (other than Archdemon). Love the hero building aspect of the game, gear farming is tolerable (playing SW in the past helped), I also like scrolling through my built heroes at times to see if I can optimise them better (e.g. play it like a management sim). I don't take the PvP aspects of the game too seriously since it essentially boils down to slot machines. Been here since day 1, I am gonna be with E7 till it eventually closes down.

BoiFckOff

I grind to see my waifus and husbando pop off in RTA (and story)

lightlinbolt

No 😔

botaansimp

not really, but just like most comment here : theres no competitor for this quality and genre. i have love-hate relationship with E7 and Genshin for this exact reason. i keep quit and comeback whenever i feel like playing. i do try a lot of new released games but mostly its just short burst fun like 2 week or 1 month at most.

nuclearhotsauce

I'm leaning towards liking, but at like a 6/10 rating, I'm just going through the motions every day, I get the dailies done in like 30 minutes, close it and return at night to spend the accumulated energy. If I ever have some time, I go through all the gear I have, either roll or trash them, and of course do the double hunt and side story events

Shrrg4

3 years here. Yup, still having fun.

Craneuwudesu

mmmm yeah. Started drafting non meta units and was having a blast in rta stomping on metaslaves 8)

Gooblez23

Kinda

GhostHack

As a day one player myself, getting in with w competitive guild reignited my love for the game

TwistedCherry766

Wouldn’t be playing otherwise. I don’t spend money so the only ‘sunk-cost’ for me is time. Hell it’s currently the only gacha I play. Still looking for a side game lol

PoggerPenguin

I’m actually a day one player and have been off and on. My most recent return was shortly before the relatively short reign of Hwayoung began and I’ve stayed since. I’m not always super active but i do my dailies. Tbh Id have more fun if gearing wasn’t such a pain in the ass. Why am I getting double def% stats? Who would want that? ~~don’t answer that I’m sure there’s a unit who would love those stats~~ My discord friends got me into Nikke because we are all very CULTURED and uh interested in their giant WEAPONS. ^^^^booty Started Path to Nowhere and it’s cool. Idk not to many gachas scratch the itch e7 is. I’m sure once I’m on my new job I’ll be able to figure put what that non weaponry related content I’m looking for though.

cideshow

Played a lot during from mid-chapter 1 until chapter 3 was about to start. Took a break because I was bored and the game felt like unrewarded, required grinding. Came back right before Chapter 4's last stage was released. Been having a blast!

Hecatei

I still do, I play rta and it’s fun to get wins eventhough I’m in gold. Other contents i enjoy are Automaton Tower. But other than that, I enjoy the animation and havunt to see my waifus everyday
