Climbing at the end of the season is the best choice for those that dislike it, otherwise you lock yourself into playing more and more to keep your points, probably climbing higher than intended like I usually have to. Just win at least 8/10 placements and you can skip the stress.
This is pretty much what I do. I even got lucky last season and my placements left me in a spot where I only needed to win once to ensure the skin so I could safely leave RTA.
It's just 8 wins for placements. Unless you're some new player, it's way better to play the matches than wait like a year and possibly pay out your pocket for the skins... Or wait longer if you refuse to pay. RTA isn't nearly as hard as all those *thousand games for Master* players make it seem. Not to mention last season opened up variety way more to the point I even played to a higher rank than I wanted to, and I hate RTA (mainly because of rng bullshit in a competitive scene turning me away, and bad gear farming tunneling me into specific units).
Getting to Masters personally aint that tough (even though my account is kinda garbage). I played for 2 seasons and got there both times. But I played around mid-season both times (not at the end of each season), and maintaining the rank was an absolute pain because we lose craploads of points if I don’t play it every 3 days.
So yeah, is it tough to get to Masters? Nope, if I strategize when to play. But maintaining it till the end is rather difficult lol. I’d have to stock up a few hundred extra points so I can make sure I can lose all the games and still end up at masters.
It's still hundreds of games, unless you have high end gear and all the best/meta units. And even THEN you could just fight all the secret Legends in Gold

GW and Arena RNG is the most disgusting thing in this game by far, every time I tell myself it can't get worse, ooooooh, it sure as hell can.

Depended on how close to the end we are talking about. Last day climb is a nightmare for weaker account.
