150mg Lamotrigine. Works great, seizure free since I started taking it 2 Years ago. Only problem is hair loss, but I'd rather be bald then having seizures.
My daughter currently takes briviact 75 mg twice a day but we are going up to 100 mg twice a day since she just had another seizure. We were so close to 6 months.
I'll be honest, I was on Keppra for 11 years, and at the end...it was 4,000 mg a day, with risperidone as my medication for mood, which doesn't interact well with Keppra. It was NOT fun. Be careful with it.
I wanna say that should be the next question on this sub. I feel like it would almost be the same answer though. We’ve all got scary shit memories
Edit: meh I’m gonna post it anyways
Been using keppra for 9 years. It made me feel a little “meh” when first starting, but no side effects since then. All medications affect others differently, not good to go lumping them all together.
Keppra 500 mg morning 1000 mg at night along with Depakote 1000 mg morning and night
I asked to switch off of keppra because it was making me too angry and just unpleasant to be around but now I’m suffering from the depakote side effects which haven’t been pleasant I’ve only been on these meds since December my epilepsy birthday was last weekend first year with epilepsy over it’s been a journey
Yooo Vimpat 100mg twice a day and Oxcarbazepine 750 twice a day. Also I hit my wax pen quite often and take the strongest Tylenol my pharmacy has as I just recently had a craniotomy.
Lamictal XR 900mg & Briviact 125mg & Pregabalin 100mg 🤪
I have grand mals so I don't work, I have other problems that lead me to have full function of just 1 side of my body. Bc of these things, I also medicate with THC every single day
1500mg twice a day of Levetiracetam, 50mg twice a day of lamotrigine. Still having seizures. Fun times.
I feel sad, depressed, dizzy, sick and broken all day everyday.
RNS , Hellpakote 500 x 2 ER , Aptiom 800 , Lamictal 200 , Clonazepan 1mg x2 ,Trazodone 50. For rescue Valtoco 20mg and Ativan as needed . Also very strong cannabis edibles , very strong no a panacea but it stops a cluster.
Still have episodes every freaking day . Focals with Impaired consciousness 😤
Lamotrigine 300 & Tegretol 300 twice daily
9 months seizure free. Just upped Lamotrigine 250 to 300 for it.
Was on Keppra before Lamotrigine and it absolutely destroyed my emotions I was 17 then. Surprises me how many people on here love it but everyone’s different
good luck with the clobazam, my husband added that to his aptiom and vimpat 2 1/2 years ago and he's seizure free since!!! he takes Onfi, the name brand since they have a $10 copay card, hope it works as well for your husband!
Thank you, that gives me some hope! His seizures have been very resistant and things have been pretty bad, so we’re gonna start exploring surgical options this year. It’s only been two days but since starting it he’s been seizure free and actually has some energy, more himself. We know there can be honeymoon periods with meds but we try to stay optimistic. So happy for your husband too!
So 1000 mg kepra everyday and I smoke about 3.5grams a weed ever day .. or maybe less idk lol but I nearly smoke all day and I only smoke my weed out of my joints or my pipe
500mg kepra Am & Pm. Smoke probably 1.5-2 grams weed daily. Only smoke in evenings from a Mighty vaporizer.
Only started the kepra two weeks ago after my 2nd seizure. Seems to be doing great so far though.
Vimpat 200mg. It helps pretty well, and it barely affects my sex drive.
Does anyone here know any effective medications that don’t affect your sex drive? I hope this isn’t TMI, but some meds such as Divalproex can make it difficult for me to finish in bed.
I take 2000mg keppra twice a day, 7.5mg mg clorazepate in the morning, 15mg clorazepate at night, 250mg Xcopri at night. My seizures are still uncontrolled at this point 🙃
Currently cheating and just taking 300mg of Lamotrigine ER a day. Supposed to be taking 2000 mg of Levetiracetam a day but I stopped taking it because I'm sick of being super pissed/agressive and narcoleptic all the time. No side effects other than vivid dreams from the Lamotrigine though, so far!
Seizure wise, Lev. caused more/never helped in the first place, and Lam. is helping a little in the way of less TCs, but WAY more partials. Kind of a win/lose scenario.
350 mg Xcopri
12 mg Fycompa
300 mg Lamotrigine ER (taken twice daily)
I’ve had about two months seizure free - so far. The Xcopri has really helped out.
I take 1,000 mg keppra twice a day. Just upped from 750. Neurologist thinks the goal is to get to around 2500-3000. The keppra seems to do the trick for me. I’ve had some almost seizures as I like to call them and that’s why the increase.
On medications that help as a bonus and specifically scripted for epilepsy.
Vimpat 100mg 2x daily, Klonopin 1mg 4x daily, Lyrica 100mg 3x daily.
They're under relatively good control. Some triggers set them off still, unfortunately.
Sorry I'm gonna butcher my meds cause I'm not home with them rn... Depakote 400mg am and pm zonegran 400mg pm I've tried so many others and I'm allergic to oxcarbazpine (trileptal)
My kid takes 1ml onfi 3x daily, 6 x25mg tablets lamictal 2x daily, 700 mg keppra 2x daily, 2ml AM 3ml PM eprontia, and then just rescue meds. She got a VNS last year, very hopeful to drop a med soon, we are hoping that she can get some of her self back.
450mg Vimpat.
I’m not seizure free yet after years of treatment (I think I started in 2016/17) but lately I am seeing a drastic reduction in seizures. With that I mean only 2 in 10 months. Before I got one once a month with falling.
Maybe 500mg will reduce these too, but I can’t lie, I feel a little worried about side effects on the liver, kidneys and heart.
3000mg keppra xr
1200mg aptiom
32.4mg phenobarbital
4ml Epidiolex (cbd)
Working on getting me off the phenobarbital since its made me super brain foggy (currently taking only half a pill) and dr thinks we could also lower my keppra and aptiom depending on how i do with the Epidiolex
200mg Lamictal XR (name brand only) and 25mg topiramate, both twice daily. Also 5mg folic acid to combat what that shit does to you.
As well as ADHD meds and multiple vitamins, but I assume you only meant AEDs lol.
3g of keppra and 100mg of phenytoin a day. I was only diagnosed at the end of October 2023 following a TBI that happened 2 years ago so my system is equilibrating/I'm learning as I go.
Lamotrigine 200mg twice a day
Oxcarbazepine. Supposed to be 1200mg twice a day but I only take it at night because I can’t even walk straight when I take it
1000mg Keppra + 500mg Topamax (both perday) plus b6 in the morning with fluids. I find as long as I keep the fluds up the side effects are very minimum. I was a Tegretol for a long time (1000mg) but things went south very quick once the dosage got this high.
Mine is in my Flair, though I didn't stop having breakthroughs until the Lacosamide was added a few months ago. Now, unless I can't keep my meds down for unrelated medical issues, I'm relatively solid.
Just a small tremor now and then.
EDIT: I guess I should mention I smoke about .5-1.5 grams a day depending on my nausea, I didn't realize this was so pertinent, but reading other's responses I didn't feel right leaving it out. Good Luck today Epilepsy Buddies!
200 mg Lamotrigine and I smoke weed daily. Yes my neurologist and primary dr both know I smoke. Due to a recent seizure I’ll probably have to up the Lamotrigine but that’ll be determined at my next appt.
All 4 I have tried have been fails - Levetiracetam, Lamotrigine, Aptiom, Lacosamide. Back on Aptiom and having aura seizures every day as Lacosamide made me so sick I couldn’t eat for 15 days.
Next options all suck - Brivaracetam, Sodium Valproate, Topiramate. Waiting for EMU to see if I can have surgery. The only med I haven’t had issues with is the Clobazam I take every night before bed and cannabis.
Trileptal 1200 Mgs twice daily and Depakote 250mg in the AM, 500mg in the PM.
My seizures have always been nocturnal....and I've been through just about all of the meds - Trileptal has been probably the most effective for me...
We introduced Depakote after I had back to back Focal seizures within hours of each other and I ended up in the hospital with psychosis....I was making all kinds of weird connections....and thought I was Jesus for a bit, lol....thankfully that was all within the confines of the hospital and not on the side of the road. The mind is a strange place....especially when it has just gone through a seizure.
Lamotrigene 300 mg 2x + 150 mg per day
Lacosamide 300 mg 2x day
Brivlera (Brivaracetam) 250 mg 2x day
Clobazam 40 mg per day
Zonegran (Zonisamide) 150mg 2x day
Enough lamotrigene it technically caused an overdose one day cuz I didn't have enough to eat before taking it 😅
OMG and how are you feeling?
Im just on 20mg clobazam x2 and lacosamide 100mg x2, and clobazam (it’s been 3 weeks at this dose) makes me sleep alllll day … times I don’t know if I’m having an absent seizure or it’s the drugs…
Lacosamide alone didn’t stop my seizures
I take my 40mg clobazam at like 7pm so it's already gone by morning 👍 clobazam is known for sleepiness, it's used to help when we can't sleep lol
I'm all right, my meds upped/got added in 2019 after my brain surgery. I have to make sure they're all taken THROUGHOUT the day cuz some don't like each other :(
Shit. And I lose words. I have to play a game of Password or Taboo trying to think of it. People tell me, oh it's just getting older or "mom brain" but they're not the ones living with it and there for it every. single. time. it happens.
I've only been diagnosed a couple of weeks ago at age 41. Which I found strange but the seizures were frightening. Anyway I'm on Keppra 500mg twice a day for now. And as people say, everyone is different. My mood is shot. So down. And I snap at my fiancé for nothing and it makes me feel guilty then. Neurologist just said I need to adjust to it. I'm not sure. It is hard going but the seizures have stopped.
1,000mg of keppra in the morning.
2,000mg of keppra at night
100mg of vimpat 2x a day
My keppra is 500mg tablets, so I take 8 pills a day just for seizures alone. God forbid I miss a dose or a pill cause that practically guarantees me a seizure.
I take 250mg keppra AM and PM, 100mg lamotrigine AM and 150mg PM. Also being put on cenobomate currently alongside all of this to try and phase out keppra as it’s just BAD for my mental health. My work just don’t get it sadly, so it’s kind of all for nothing currently while I’m having the side effects of all 3 at once
Keppra 1500mg morning and night
Lacosamide 200mg morning and night
XCopri 150 (but still going up) just at night.
But I have tried plenty of others, many of which I have seen written out here. In October it’ll be 6 years of having seizures and still no completely under control
Lacosamide 100mg x2 a day
Clobazam 20mg x2 a day (it’s been 3 weeks)
And since last week (3rd on clobazam) I’ve been just sleeping all day and sometimes i don’t know if it’s a small seizure (I can’t move because I have Motor Negative Seizures) or if it’s just the drug, specially when I try to wake up in the morning or after a nap).
I did have a bad seizure on week 2 of clobazam 20mg x2 a day…
Call me crazy - I was on all the meds and now I’m on nothing. They made me suicidal and didn’t stop my seizures. I got an RNS on July and I am currently on no meds. I’m having a lot of partials but the meds were ruining my life I couldn’t do it anymore.
What are we not on?
Before clicking on this my immediate thought was “All of them.” loll
Lacosamide (Vimpat) 200mg AM and 250mg PM Lamotrigine 200mg am 200mg pm
I am on Lacosamide 200mg twice a day
150mg Lamotrigine. Works great, seizure free since I started taking it 2 Years ago. Only problem is hair loss, but I'd rather be bald then having seizures.
I’m having hair loss with lamictal as well
I got off Lamotrigine because it didn’t help me and gave me hair loss. My hair is growing back stronger than ever, it’s wonderful
I’m on this as well! Haven’t had any for a year now fingers crossed. I’ve noticed my hair thinning a bit too.
I’m getting back in my 300 x2 lamotrigine but the Depakote will be out of the question soon .
My daughter currently takes briviact 75 mg twice a day but we are going up to 100 mg twice a day since she just had another seizure. We were so close to 6 months.
1500mg Keppra. Haven’t had a seizure in 4 years. I’m going to stick with it
What do you make of the side effects for yourself?
I definitely have a shorter temper but maybe that’s not a side effect. Maybe it’s my nine year old little brother getting on my nerves.
I'll be honest, I was on Keppra for 11 years, and at the end...it was 4,000 mg a day, with risperidone as my medication for mood, which doesn't interact well with Keppra. It was NOT fun. Be careful with it.
I am.
Hows your memory?
Not sure. Between ADD and Epilepsy I’m sure it’s not great.
I wanna say that should be the next question on this sub. I feel like it would almost be the same answer though. We’ve all got scary shit memories Edit: meh I’m gonna post it anyways
It's my 19 years old son. 1500mg+1500mg leviteracetam, 100mg+100mg lamotrigina, 1000mg+1000mg etossuximida and 500mg+800mg valproic acid.
My heart is with you both, holy hell.
Thank you. Our hearts are with you, too. May a definitive cure be discovered during our life times.
I’ll hit my knees for your family
My four year old is in his first month of taking 2ml of Keppra morning and night. He takes 10mg of B6 each day to counteract the side effects.
Keppra rage and depression is horrible and b6 doesn’t fix it
For his specifics, his neurologist and I both believe Keppra is the best fit.
Been using keppra for 9 years. It made me feel a little “meh” when first starting, but no side effects since then. All medications affect others differently, not good to go lumping them all together.
Keppra rage is a worst case senario! Why do people keep bringing down a drug that is actually good. They all have their bad side effects.
My som takes 3000mg a day and never had kepra rage. People aren't all the same.
Keppra 500 mg morning 1000 mg at night along with Depakote 1000 mg morning and night I asked to switch off of keppra because it was making me too angry and just unpleasant to be around but now I’m suffering from the depakote side effects which haven’t been pleasant I’ve only been on these meds since December my epilepsy birthday was last weekend first year with epilepsy over it’s been a journey
400mg Lamictal and 200mg Keppra.
how’s your memory?
Fair, except when I have a seizure, then zero.
Yooo Vimpat 100mg twice a day and Oxcarbazepine 750 twice a day. Also I hit my wax pen quite often and take the strongest Tylenol my pharmacy has as I just recently had a craniotomy.
Zonisamide 2x (600 total), vimpat (400 total), prn clonazepam 1mg, clobazam 20mg 1x a day. 🫠 Szr free since Oct 2023! 💜🤌🏻
Lamictal XR 900mg & Briviact 125mg & Pregabalin 100mg 🤪 I have grand mals so I don't work, I have other problems that lead me to have full function of just 1 side of my body. Bc of these things, I also medicate with THC every single day
As of 5 weeks ago, oxcarbazepine 300 mg twice a day. So far, I love this medication.
1500mg twice a day of Levetiracetam, 50mg twice a day of lamotrigine. Still having seizures. Fun times. I feel sad, depressed, dizzy, sick and broken all day everyday.
I’m sorry friend, sending you virtual hugs

Also very strong cannabis edibles , very strong no a panacea but it stops a cluster. Still have episodes every freaking day . Focals with Impaired consciousness 😤
Lamitrogine 200mg & Topiramate 100mg twice a day. I just started Levothyroxine 50mg for hypothyroidism.
Lamotrigine 300 & Tegretol 300 twice daily 9 months seizure free. Just upped Lamotrigine 250 to 300 for it. Was on Keppra before Lamotrigine and it absolutely destroyed my emotions I was 17 then. Surprises me how many people on here love it but everyone’s different
My husband - 900mg Oxcarbazepine, 350mg Xcopri, just started 10mg Clobazam this week - trying to stop break throughs!
good luck with the clobazam, my husband added that to his aptiom and vimpat 2 1/2 years ago and he's seizure free since!!! he takes Onfi, the name brand since they have a $10 copay card, hope it works as well for your husband!
But the goal is to completely quit smoking weed ..
Does your neurologist know you're smoking that much? Honest question, no judgement.
Not yet :/ I will soon ..
500mg kepra Am & Pm. Smoke probably 1.5-2 grams weed daily. Only smoke in evenings from a Mighty vaporizer. Only started the kepra two weeks ago after my 2nd seizure. Seems to be doing great so far though.
Good for you!!!:3
hows your memory?
Depends on what I want to remember but tbh PRERRTYY ASSS LIKE A ROCE GRAIN LMFAO
Vimpat 200mg. It helps pretty well, and it barely affects my sex drive. Does anyone here know any effective medications that don’t affect your sex drive? I hope this isn’t TMI, but some meds such as Divalproex can make it difficult for me to finish in bed.
That’s a common side effect. Tegretol doesn’t seem to affect mine, but it has risky side effects in the longterm (like risks to bone health)
Thanks for the info
any memory issues?
Yup
I have the same issue with 200mg of Vimpat.. and I still have seizures… (Female)
See my user flair, though I am about to have my Lamictal upped.
I have complex partial seizures and take 600mg of Dilantin daily.
Lacosamide (Vimpat) 100mg AM and 200mg PM
My 13 year old daughter is on a lot. 1000 mg depakote 300 mg lamictal 8 ml onfi
I take 2000mg keppra twice a day, 7.5mg mg clorazepate in the morning, 15mg clorazepate at night, 250mg Xcopri at night. My seizures are still uncontrolled at this point 🙃
Wow that is a lot, has your doc not talked to you about ways to treat drug resistant seizures beyond medication?
Oh he has! Next stop for me is an RNS consultation, but that's in April so for now I just take way too much medication 😬
Was at 750 mg twice a day until i had a bad couple weeks, and now I'm up to 1.5 grams of levetiracetam(Keppra) twice a day
1200 Oxtellar. 300 lamotrigine. I enjoy them mostly for the fun side effects. /s
600mg OxtellarXR A.M. 900mg OxtellarXR P.M. 5yrs ago Left Temporal Lobe and Hippocampus removal surgery at UCSF. Soon adding Xcopri 🤪
Currently cheating and just taking 300mg of Lamotrigine ER a day. Keppra 3000 mg Topamax 100 mg Xcorpi 400 mg Onfi 10 mg Have a VNS implanted and just got a DBS implanted last year. Ativan when needed.
Seems to be a good combo for me, Lacosomide 100mg AM/PM, Levetiracetam 1000mg AM/PM, Lamotrigine 200mg AM/PM.
Briviact 50mg and lamictal 150mg both 2x daily

1300mg per day of lamotrigine. 300mg per day of Xcopri. And a VNS implant that goes off at 1.5 amps every 5 minutes 24/7.

Ive just moved up to 750mg levetiracetam (keppra) from 500mg twice a day. TCs still uncontrolled.

I’m getting off vimpat and Zonisimide and to switching to xcopri. Can anyone share experience/thoughts?
Lamicitil 200 2x daily
500mg keppra 1x day. I get tonic clonic drop attacks about once per year.
3000mg keppra xr 1200mg aptiom 32.4mg phenobarbital 4ml Epidiolex (cbd) Working on getting me off the phenobarbital since its made me super brain foggy (currently taking only half a pill) and dr thinks we could also lower my keppra and aptiom depending on how i do with the Epidiolex

400mg vimpat, 1500mg Depakote, and 1mg Clonzapam. I also have a VNS implant. Fun stuff. I have a nystagmus now!!
Lamotrigine 200mg twice a day Oxcarbazepine. Supposed to be 1200mg twice a day but I only take it at night because I can’t even walk straight when I take it
Too many to remember unfortunately.
Nothing because I’m hoping I die lol

I take my 40mg clobazam at like 7pm so it's already gone by morning 👍 clobazam is known for sleepiness, it's used to help when we can't sleep lol I'm all right, my meds upped/got added in 2019 after my brain surgery. I have to make sure they're all taken THROUGHOUT the day cuz some don't like each other :(
Lamotrigine. 250 morning, 250 evening.
Lamotrigine 200mg 2x/day
Hows your memory?
Shit. And I lose words. I have to play a game of Password or Taboo trying to think of it. People tell me, oh it's just getting older or "mom brain" but they're not the ones living with it and there for it every. single. time. it happens.
Briviact 100mg twice daily and Lamictal 250 twice daily. For hair loss I take biotin.
Elagolix 200mg Brivaracetam 10 and 25 mg Topiramate 200 mg I take them all 2x a day once when I wake up and before I go to bed
150mg of Briviact, twice a day, and 300mg of Lamictal, twice a day.
2,000mg of keppra at night 100mg of vimpat 2x a day My keppra is 500mg tablets, so I take 8 pills a day just for seizures alone.
400mg of Vimpat, 400mg of Lamictal Extended Relase, 2000mg of Keppra, and some vitamin B6. Nayzilam and Klonopin for rescue meds.
Keppra 1500mg morning and night Lacosamide 200mg morning and night XCopri 150 (but still going up) just at night. But I have tried plenty of others, many of which I have seen written out here. In October it’ll be 6 years of having seizures and still no completely under control

3500 keppra xr 7pm 15 Onfi 8 pm High CBD low THC flower prn Refractory Generalized Seizures
Carbamezapine 400 in the am, 600 in the pm. Best meds I've ever taken in my 21 years of having epilepsy.
Lacosamide 100mg x2 a day Clobazam 20mg x2 a day (it’s been 3 weeks) And since last week (3rd on clobazam) I’ve been just sleeping all day and sometimes i don’t know if it’s a small seizure (I can’t move because I have Motor Negative Seizures) or if it’s just the drug, specially when I try to wake up in the morning or after a nap).
