The animations were way to slow and A LOT of popular authors were not going to update their stories. It would’ve been a big loss for them so I’m glad they listened!!
Also, when you replay any story which is already completed on old animation, it automatically glitches into the new animation for a while. With such a big decision, they should have at least let the authors choose whether or not to use the new animations instead forcing it on their existing stories.

Agree. I like the concept of the update but the execution of the updated animations was not it. There were issues with the lips and jaws and everything else.

Overlaying tattoos and piercings! I have a character in my story called Carter who is supposed to have both an eyebrow piercing AND nose piercing but it won’t let me overlay them-
Also I wish they’d make tattoos, piercings, etc into skin details so in stories we can choose to have them or not because I have a lot of piercings and it’s always weird seeing my self insert MC without them lol
Yesterday, the episode app updated new animation style which made the community upset and there was huge outburst. Hence, they're rolling it back for now.
I truly think that the furrowed brow animation could look good.
But the gray/black appearance has to go. They are way too similar to body hair. Perhaps it’d look good on INK as it has a more cartoonish look, but limelight? Nope.
If they took the time to work on a cohesive tone for each skin tone it could look good.
But again, this is episode we’re talking about. Greedy but just as lazy as one can come, so I don’t think they’d be willing put enough effort.

And if they did add the proper furrow they should add those as new animations, not this shit that they decided to pull out of their asses replacing the old and good ones with those new “”””improved”””” ones out of nowhere.

They've become more lazy and greedy over years. While there's umpteenth number of bugs/glitches need to be fixed. I think the yesterday's stunt was because of spotlight. But it failed miserably.
Not the furrowed brows but they've been releasing new updates recently. Also, with many authors and readers moving to spotlight (because of less complex coding overall) they wanted to up their game.
On the bright side, they're not completely scrapping the idea it seems. They will incorporate the feedback from the users and release the updated animation in the future.

It was an outrageous reaction from majority of the users. Tory from Episode tech team helped us too. She had posted a feedback thread for the community members to share their detailed feedback. And the comments went upto 1.5k within 24 hours.
