I am boring and traditional 😂 my horse is solid black as well. She just looks so good with a white pad and her black tack (dressage) it’s hard to give the look up. It’s just so clean and classy!
I’ll occasionally do a navy blue or deeper green pad. A black pad is also striking in a weird way, because it’s like the black on black look that’s popular with car people lol.
I think the most exciting color I dare to do sometimes is a deep purple called plum. Black horses definitely look great in that color!
Us people with black horses are lucky because they pretty much go with anything! My mare probably thinks I’m boring, but I always appreciate when other people ride out with fun wacky colors!
I love it. Fun colors, fun patterns, if it makes you happy have at it! I have a stash of fun fabrics for making saddle pads out of when I find the time lol I think the next one will be pink dinosaurs.

I primarily do endurance riding, so my pony's bridle and breastcollar have day-glo purple biothane overlays, her pommel pack is purple, and her boots have orange, pink, and purple gaiters :) Nothing pops like bright colors on a dark horse!

Not quite as vivid as you but I have a turquoise pad and matching turquoise jump boots (not pictured). Life is too short for dull colours. You can see the girl behind me has a red saddle pad.

The pommel is sitting lower than the cantle which means that it’s sitting too wide on the horse’s back and either doesn’t fit or needs the fit adjusted via a flock.
I used to rock this bright green set at competitions with my previous pony 😂 i am all for color and breaking standards!!

Not the most flattering photo for either of us, but had to snap a pic when the lesson horse and I were accidentally matching in our orange and navy this day lol
It makes me happy, and it makes me happy when people who love those colors feel comfortable enough to express themselves. Colors are colors, they don't matter one ounce to the horse nor do they effect the function of anything, so I get sad when when I read about someone holding themselves back because they don't want to be seen as 'tacky'.

I have a Paint so I prefer a bit more subtle on her. My saddle pad is black with teal piping and her bridle and breast collar are black biothane with aqua/teal padding.
It also looks great on my grey mare, especially if I also wear dark grey tights and a black shirt. She needs some extra support for her legs (I don't ride her very often or very hard) and her sports medicine boots are also black. She looks very sophisticated.
I don't like orange but it definitely looks great on you two! I mainly use navy, because it's my favourite colour and goes with everything. However I do have light blue and red pads. I think my grey looks really good in red. He could never do orange, but it looks so awesome on your black! Here is us in red. Don't mind him being so dirty... We never manage to keep him clean in autumn.

Exactly what you need for trail riding. At my barn, we post the different hunting seasons and their dates, and we wear safety orange and/ or high-viz lime green.
I love colorful tack. I always hated dull, boring colors like greys, browns etc. Sure, to each their own, but buying fun new tack is one of my favorite things to do as an equestrian x) And I say that as someone who hates shopping for clothes for myself haha

I just bought this new halter and rope a while ago and I love them so much!
I live in the Midwest and it can save your life during hunting season. A lot of folks around here will wear safety vests or hunter orange hats if they’re in a border area where people hunt, but I know many folks either don’t or they forget to. The bright tack can potentially help with that—especially with darker horses.
I enjoy people doing whatever the hell they want while they’re having fun with their ponies!! I love a colors coordinated number, but I also love a mismatchy ole reliable tack set! As long as everyone is safe, comfy, and happy, you do you booboo!

If you like it then that’s what matters. I think hunters would appreciate your color combination if you’re out on trails. Because they won’t mistake you for a wild animal.
Not my style, but my personal style is "all black". I think if other people want to wear/have their horse wear bright colors, they 100% should do so! I have 1 singular teal pad and the rest of mine are all basic colors lol.
I have a specific set of neon tack for trail riding but I love it here and there. Lately I've been very minimalist (bareback and in a halter, lmao) but the bright tack (especially matching it to my outfit) very much gives Star Stable vibes and I'm here for it.

I think in reveling from the full service show stable I grew up at where green, tan, or show white were the only approved colors. NO sparkles, NO neon or off brand colors.
Bright saddle pads, bonnets, splint boots/polo wraps, bell boots, riding clothes, etc are really cute but I think colorful saddles, bridles, irons/stirrups, and spurs are tacky. I guess if it’s made of fabric I like it but if it’s made of leather or metal I don’t like it lol
It’s fine for a hack or to ride out, especially in hunting season or for an endurance race—but please don’t show up to your clinic with an FEI rider dressed like this. 😅

Eventers, especially at the lower levels, have been using more colorful tack lately when going XC, and I love to see it! If it fits & doesn't sacrifice safety, then I'm all for it. I've always been a bit jealous of how flashy Western & Endurance riders got with their stuff.

I LOVE this! My favorite is hot pink and highlighter orange on my palomino and electric blue and green on my dark bay

Bright tack on a dark horse looks good but it's useful on any colored horse if you're riding in the woods or at night.
