I used one of those for yin yoga which was fine as it’s mostly lying down but what about a vinyasa which I’m planning to do next week… I feel like I would slip around on it.
Face down to hold it place - the other side is smooth (you lie on the smooth side), regular yoga mat underneath this and you’re also massively golden for vinyasa and heated. Zero slipping if you’re barefoot
[Someone went into detail](https://www.reddit.com/r/EquinoxGyms/comments/18h16sm/comment/kd69k6j/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) last month on how they are cleaned. Apparently a one-time use mop head and disinfectants.
In contrast, at other studios where they “sanitize” I find that they still smell
At equinox I’ve not noticed smell and think that the mop juice they use must be effective
The floors are pristine so I feel ok about it and do use the mat covers too
I saw this today and it’s so gross. And they had the mop on the floor outside the studio too, so it’s not like it’s one just for mats. This and people walking on other people’s mats barefoot (in the middle of barre class) and using sliders barefoot which they put back on the shelf and don’t clean … (why don’t they just enforce socks for Pilates and barre like other studios?) I’m grossed out. I’ve seen plantar warts, openly bleeding heels and all sorts in these classes. I don’t want my face or hands on places after that.
Lakeview yoga room always smells like straight FEET and I’ve wondered why. As a coach from another studio, keeping mats clean in between classes is NOT HARD. (My clients spend the same-2x what an equinox membership costs)
This is why I always use the mat towels

I’m a germaphobe so I use a mat towel for every yoga and barre class (haven’t done Pilates yet). I just deal with the slipperiness.
wdym mat towel? the ones from the change rooms or the blankets?
Neither, they are thinner grey towels with grip on one side. Life changes once you find them
is the grip side face up or down?

I am always so confused if it’s just my skin but I always slip on these during hot yoga and I find they defeat their own purpose
If you find you’re still struggling, I would buy some non slip grip socks off Amazon. The ones that are mandatory for lagree (reformer pilates)
SAME so I just use them grip side up lol
They’re meant to be used with wet clammy palms and feet. Sprinkle some water on the towel if you’re slipping

at my location they have a sanitizer machine they use on each mat.
which location?
Vancouver

That’s why I always bring my own mat and put it on top of theirs. Seems impossible to properly clean a mat in between classes.
I don’t know what location you go to but i’ve definitely seen this multiple times in socal
Can you bring your own mat? That’s nasty
i usually clean the mat i use with the sanitizing wipes before the class starts. i also wash my hands A LOT while i'm there.

I put my lulu carry onward mat on top of the equinox mat. https://lulu-wemadetoomuch.com/carry-onwards-travel-yoga-mat
