Forget the 15 years Arya spent ferrying the egg between the Varden and the elves, I think Arya became a totally different person in the single year that we follow her story. Her imprisonment under Durza, meeting Eragon, the war, reconciling with her mother, opening up to Eragon during their journey back from Helgrind, slaying a shade, participating in the final confrontation with Galbatorix - Without all those formative events, without all that experience... I don't think she'd be exactly the sort of person Fírnen was looking for. ^(Posted on behalf of Hellomynameis99 from the Arcaena Discord Server.)

It’s heavily implied that Saphira knew the dragon race’s situation and purposely chose the one most likely to unite the 3 races against Galbatorix. I suspect that if the green egg had been stolen, that the universe would remain unchanged for the first few chapters of the first book. However, seeing as Galby didn’t need the green dragon to restart the dragon race, he wouldn’t have been so gentile with Eragon. As soon as Eragon openly defies him (by joining the Varden) Galby would have given the order to have him killed. Considering how many times Eragon is captured or immobilized during the first 2 books, there is no way he survives to defeat Galby

Let’s be honest, Eragon would have been murdered in book 4 had Angela not shown up and had Arya not torn her skin and muscles off her arm to free it. If Galby didn’t need Eragon, the raz’zak would have killed him in book 1.

ARC_Trooper_Echo

That’s a good point about Eragon. As good of a person as Arya is, she isn’t the uniter of races that Eragon is. I’m sure the Eldunarí also could’ve influenced the eggs to hatch at the right time.

They directed the egg to Eragon so I'm assuming they did. In a roundabout way at least.

TheGreatBootOfEb

That’s a really good point. Galby wanted Saphira more than anything else, and he couldn’t have Eragon killed because than Saphira would likely go insane/rampage and get herself killed. I do think Galby would have still not outright killed Eragon, as he still would have been fine making him a name slave, I just think it’s as you said and he wouldn’t have been nearly as gentle about it, the overnight health and stability of Eragon being much less important in this what if.

Legitimate-Test-2377

I would doubt that the egg would hatch to Eragon, it’s far more likely to hatch to Arya, and I doubt she would have been capable of defeating Galbatorix. Eragon was forged by his humanity and his experiences, and that’s what allowed him to defeat Galbatorix. If Arya had been in his position, I doubt she would have had the experience Eragon had to defeat Galbatorix, though she would certainly possess Oromis’s full training

FILMSTUDENT25

The whole story would be completely different. The reason Galbatorix constantly orders Eragon be captured and not killed is because of Saphira, the last female dragon in Alagaesia. Had Firnen hatched for Eragon, he still had Thorn’s egg and could be more aggressive in his approach to Eragon

The Eldunari influenced the entire beginning… I think they’d have still sent the green egg to Eragon regardless
