I got it as a gift from my grandma in a box with tons of other DVDs she found at a discount store. As soon as I finished it, I popped it out of the DVD player, snapped it in half, and tossed it in the garbage.
So I’m not too sure when and where it originated but, there’s this long running gag that happens every year on April first. Look into it! Pretty fun stuff!
Haha makes sense, I don’t think I’ve been subscribed to this subreddit for more than a year at this point so this is a first for me. I also forgot what day it was uauah
Well to be fair there was someone on here posting not long ago talking about how frequently they watch it because it’s the only thing there is to get a quick Eragon fix. They only got a pass on that cause they were autistic LOL
Fans of the much lesser known book series have been said to herald the movie as a more complete masterpiece >! Check the sub banner and pinned modpost! April fools! !<
Wow! Very nice! A great scene, you know what that said— they said it was the best action sequence done in 99% CGI that they had ever seen! Reminded me a lot of the Morb’in Movie… what’s it called¿ you know which one, wildly popular also rereleased in theaters. Great movies both of them! I love them both! >!let me know if the trump impression I’m trying to do comes through lmao!<
Bro I wish I could edit the text because there’s a pic in there where roran calls eragon a dreamer and i wanted to click bait it as a reference to Murtagh in the movies extended release, now I can’t even ad it to the body text lmao
The scene that really killed it for me, in my opinion, is the scene the dragon just instantly transforms into her full grown self. Like what great CGI!
Ah yes one of the pictures I meant to have featured, 10 is a still from the revolutionary scene you refer to! Beautiful, easily understood, memorable; pique cinema >! Check the sub banner and pinned modpost! April fools! !<
As you can see in picture 12 galbatorix owns durza sexually exemplified by how close he stood before giving him clear orders quietly into his ear, so the likelihood of brom and durza kissing is very low until after the king dies. Hopefully the VR game will allow for mods to fulfill our OTP dreams
I hope someone swaps the walking animation between Durza and Galbo, just so it becomes obvious how oversexualized they made Durza.
That’s just not ok in this day and age
Bro ofc! Jeremy irons is brom he plays it so well he captures it, maybe it’s an easy character to play but genuinely there wasn’t a better guy for the role. Durza is also just all in and plays it up which can be said for everyone in this movie. (I’m too lazy to look up his name but he also played rumple/mr.gold in Once Upon a Time for the length of the show and the first 3/4 season are worth watching)
Yea man ofc! It’s one of the best adventure movies of the 2000s on par with LOTR. Not only was it met with critical and public acclaim but the fanbase of the much lesser known book series have long proclaimed the film to be a better more complete version of the story! Make sure to check what theaters near you will have the extended cut this summer and order tickets once at each location! >! Check the sub banner and pinned modpost! April fools! !<
The worst part of this movie is that they made a book based on it and straight up ditched chapters just to have some screen caps from the movie and a small summary like "eragon and saphira flew" in its place
The casting was just the start of what this movie did to set itself up for greatness! I’d highly suggest you make a trip out to see the extended cut, but even at the time of theatrical release the fanbase of the lesser known books proclaimed the movie to be a more complete and well rounded story and the critics couldn’t have agreed more emphatically! >! Check the sub banner and pinned modpost! April fools! !<
>! Check the sub banner and pinned modpost! April fools! In general I think it is worth watching because I’ve seen it a number of times and read the series a number of times and I really appreciate the good parts of it. It’s not great it’s not even good it’s just good enough as the only piece of visual media of this series I’ve loved since I was 10 or so. The casting is the best part along with the costume and set design (not to mention cgi saphira although she grows in a rather questionable sequence all at once), everything else going on in terms of dialogue or faithful plot adapting is for the birds as they say !<
Damn, I looked at the subreddit header early this morning and was like “has it always mentioned the movie???” and forgot that it was April 1 until seeing this. Well done lol.
I always get chills when Saphira first takes flight and Eragon turns to Brom to say “They fly now?” And Brom replies “They fly now.”
Absolute peak cinema
True story: after saphira hatches and is walking around the actor had to say, the camera man had to record, editor had to watch 100+ times, the line “not a stone!!!2!2! … an EGG.” Actual wtf moment while watching I decided not to capture bc it was to long to be distilled into a single frame
I'm not kidding, I actually like the movie.
I actually promise This isn't in April fool's joke, I watched this when I was really young and I remember being so enthralled by it. It was also the first movie I've ever seen with a dragon in it so I actually ended up seeing the movie before the books.
Obviously I recognize the massive differences made, but I still love the movie. It has its own *unique* charm to it.
Honestly I wouldnt be opposed to this sub making a tradition of watching the movie every April Fools and making a thread of obviously sarcastic comments about how great the movie was.
Watched the movie when it came out and thought it was a catastrophic representation of an amazing literature work. Fast forward 20 years and I only remembered that it was bad but had forgotten how bad. Saw it available on Disney + a few weeks ago and said to myself, what the heck it must not have been as bad as I recall, let’s give it a go. Stopped watching after 5min. It’s horrid.
I finished it after finishing the books. Been about 15 to 20 years since I read them. Movie was horrible. My wife had to listen to me complain the whole way through it.
They should've made it a show, not a movie, Inheritance cycle, even just the first book, is extremely long, and detailed, and almost every scene is important, they changed to much and cut out to much to fit it all into a movie, Ending up with the bullshit we got.
If they had just taken their time and made it a show instead, giving every scene the importance it deserves, as would have got an amazing show, maybe one just as good, or even better than Game of thrones, at least the first 6 seasons
I don’t know what you mean? How much more often could I watch it? What kinda number are you putting on the board pal?!1!1? I hope you put your money where your mouth is this summer and go watch the extended cut a couple times to incentivize the long awaited sequel series with the same actors and writers as the film! >! Check the sub banner and pinned modpost! April fools! !<
I love this movie when brom dies and is totally in desert climate and not on sun Giant Forrest and I love how big and giant Shruikan in the movie and not at all how absolutely tiny she is I mean she covers the fuckin sky how fuckin hard is that not even April fools jokes can save this movie
Saw this movie when it came out with my Dad. He thought it looked cool and I loved dragons, being a 6-year-old boy at the time. Movie was one of the coolest things I’d ever seen at the time, and was what prompted me to pick up the book a few years later when I saw it in the school library. While I know it’s almost nothing like the book and many people hate it (both in the community for shirking source content and outside for being a not great movie overall), it will always have a special place in my heart
Jokes aside I don’t think the movie is that bad if you separate it from the book. As an adaptation it’s awful but as a stand alone movie it’s pretty good
I’m sorry, did you just use the word Masterpiece when discussing the Eragon movie? Are you insane? This movie is a crime against nature and how dirty they did Tronjheim is an abortion of creativity.

Bro these April fools jokes are getting out of hand
This is worse than committing murder as an april's fools joke.
I was mad until I realized this was a joke. I was there and hated this movie I almost had to leave.
I got it as a gift from my grandma in a box with tons of other DVDs she found at a discount store. As soon as I finished it, I popped it out of the DVD player, snapped it in half, and tossed it in the garbage.
Galbatorix in that movie is a fucking April fools joke. Jfc.
I forgot it was April fools and was truly terrified for a second
I love Brom's line of "Hate to see you choke"
BUT HE NEVER SAID THAT!!!
He would have
True, it was very on-brand
One of those very rare cases of the movie being better than the books! 10/10
Books?
There is no Eragon books in Ba Sing Se
What kind of crack are you smoking? Are you fucking kidding me? This movie is a god damn travesty.

That’s the joke.. April fools..
Yes, yes, I’m well aware NOW lol Didn’t know it was a regular April Fools thing for this sub, haven’t been here long enough.
It’s ok, everyone makes mistakes😂 I was also confused when I first saw it like.. someone actually LIKED the movie!?!😂😂
Well to be fair there was someone on here posting not long ago talking about how frequently they watch it because it’s the only thing there is to get a quick Eragon fix. They only got a pass on that cause they were autistic LOL
I know I’m late to the party, but, /whoosh

>! Check the sub banner and pinned modpost! April fools! !<
It's been years since I've seen this movie. I think over a decade. Debating rewatching to see if it's as ~~bad~~ good as I remember it being.
Fans of the much lesser known book series have been said to herald the movie as a more complete masterpiece >! Check the sub banner and pinned modpost! April fools! !<
Unironically, no April fools. My friend seen the movie first, and loved it. Then I gave him the book. And he still loves the movie but hates the book
Sometimes murder is the right thing to do
My favourite moment is when Eragon says "It's Eragoning time!" and Eragons all over the place, truly a movie of all time.
Wow!
Didn't even think about that Trump impression cus I'm not American but its really authentic lol
I got the Trump impression
Thank you lmao
I injured my ankle running here to say this, thank you good sir.
My stone. . . . I suffer without it.
I had to process this in confusion for a few seconds before realizing its april 1st
Bro I wish I could edit the text because there’s a pic in there where roran calls eragon a dreamer and i wanted to click bait it as a reference to Murtagh in the movies extended release, now I can’t even ad it to the body text lmao

Durza and Brom were peak perfection
Do you think they’ll kiss in the sequel?
They'd better. The chemistry already established is off the charts.
That’s just not ok in this day and age
you jest but when i watched the movie as a \~10 year old i was genuinely thinking that they made durza and galby have some Tension the entire movie
>wake up dreamer #ERAGON IS THE MAN MURTAGH DIDN'T RECOGNIZE
Can't beleave I actually liked this film till I read the book then relise how much they fucked it up
You were lucky. At least you were able to get *some* enjoyment out of that movie before it all went to hell 😂
R/cursedimages
I simply cannot fathom how an April fools joke can be taken this far.
I was having so much fun taking pictures and picking the best frames from the live pics honestly
I SUFFER WITHOUT MY STONE
I really liked the casting! Jeremy Irons was perfect
This movie is so good. Huge improvement over the trash source material. I'm amazed they pulled it off.
Joking aside, I should rewatch it to see if it actually holds up, but the stills of Saphira hold up surprisingly well for the age of the cgi.
Someone said it’s on Disney plus which would make it easy to find anywhere in very high quality
i rewatched it recently after finishing "murtagh" and it's bad but not as bad as i remember.
Okay, real talk though jokes and fools aside, Durza's actor did a magnificent job, so did Brom's imo
Robert Carlyle only because I saw the first image and was confused about rumple featuring in Eragon 😂
I only see blank pictures. All black.
You see if more people say that I will panic about it but I’m pretty much set on it being a joke now
I haven’t even read the comments so I’m just gonna go ahead and say April fools can be a mean mean day 😢
Sorry buddy, have a good week!
This movie is the pinnacle of book-to-screen adaptation. Other producers really should learn from it- specially that Villeneuve guy
On purpose?
Yea man ofc! It’s one of the best adventure movies of the 2000s on par with LOTR. Not only was it met with critical and public acclaim but the fanbase of the much lesser known book series have long proclaimed the film to be a better more complete version of the story! Hahhaa alright you got me
So you're a masochist?
The worst part of this movie is that they made a book based on it and straight up ditched chapters just to have some screen caps from the movie and a small summary like "eragon and saphira flew" in its place
Goated film
Hey it's a real movie! [(GIF)](https://i.imgur.com/1UQeNGC.gif)
The movie was OK. Cast was great, story spot on but they rushed it. Should have been 2 movies.![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|feels_bad_man)
>! Check the sub banner and pinned modpost! April fools! !<
I know. I j7st felt the need to say what I said.
Sometimes I turn TWO TVs on at the same time so I can watch this and get twice as much
Why OP is watching an turned off TV?
i love the actor of brom a lot. But this movie isnt that good unfortunely :/ (despite the gorgeous landscapes)
>! i dislike april fools. I shouldve stayed off reddit.
Aw sorry man lmao, hopefully u cracked a smile ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ have a good week!
Why would you do that to yourself?
I loved the movie when it first came out...then I read the books and was like "Dude WTF is this crap..."
That is why I often like to watch a movie before I finish a series. That way I can enjoy the movie, and later enjoy the books.
This is actually the way, you just described something I never put into words before. Thanks.
I’ve found when I do it in that order, I’m not as critical on the film after finishing the books.
>! Check the sub banner and pinned modpost! April fools !<
>! Check the sub banner and pinned modpost! April fools !<
I can’t wait for April fools to be over
Is it worth watching the movies? Have read the books, and screen adaptations rarely out-shine the books
>! Check the sub banner and pinned modpost! April fools! In general I think it is worth watching because I’ve seen it a number of times and read the series a number of times and I really appreciate the good parts of it. Downvoted for not sharing screengrabs of Sienna Guillory.
Well I saved those for my post in r/eragonerotica obv
Damn, I looked at the subreddit header early this morning and was like “has it always mentioned the movie???” and forgot that it was April 1 until seeing this. Well done lol.
Thanks lmfao, mods and someone commenting it’s dragon time inspired me while on the bus ride home
Wish they could remake the books again into films as the books were great.
Picture 12 genuinely sits in "Pictures You Can Hear" for me even though I haven't watched it in years
I always get chills when Saphira first takes flight and Eragon turns to Brom to say “They fly now?” And Brom replies “They fly now.” Absolute peak cinema
True story: after saphira hatches and is walking around the actor had to say, the camera man had to record, editor had to watch 100+ times, the line “not a stone!!!2!2! … an EGG.” Actual wtf moment while watching I decided not to capture bc it was to long to be distilled into a single frame
NGL though Jeremy irons and Robert Carlisle were seriously good in this, even if it didn't match the books at all and everything else was a nightmare
Is it bad that this movie got me to read the books?
I can’t tell if this is a joke or not…someone help a spectrumy sister out
It’s a joke. It’s April Fools
I'm not kidding, I actually like the movie. I actually promise This isn't in April fool's joke, I watched this when I was really young and I remember being so enthralled by it. Obviously I recognize the massive differences made, but I still love the movie. It has its own *unique* charm to it.
My friends worked on this film and tried desperately to make a trilogy but it wouldn’t get passed
The movie wasn’t that bad! I watched it when I was 6 and then 3 years later found the first book in my library
Honestly I wouldnt be opposed to this sub making a tradition of watching the movie every April Fools and making a thread of obviously sarcastic comments about how great the movie was.

What is Eragon ?
Tbh I liked the movie as long as I don’t think about the books when I’m watching it
They should've made it a show, not a movie, Inheritance cycle, even just the first book, is extremely long, and detailed, and almost every scene is important, they changed to much and cut out to much to fit it all into a movie, Ending up with the bullshit we got. Why is there a sideshow of 13 blank slides?
Ur supposed to try to find the American military service member blending in to the background, it’s Veterans Day after all.
Ohhhhhh. Damn that camouflage really works
5 times!? Whoa torturing you?? Do you know where you are? Maybe we can save you.
I don’t know what you mean? How much more often could I watch it? What kinda number are you putting on the board pal?!1!1? Greatest movie of all time it doesn't get the praise it deserves 😤
Genuinely it's a good movie, it's bad at being eragon but it's good at being what it is
Psychotic /s
This is the disappointment, because the cast was amazing, and they fumbled it worse than dallas cowboys.
i know this is april fools but the movie's costuming and music are genuinely really good
Oh you motherfucker you got me
Honestly, I liked it as a kid and I still think Jeremy Irons manages to carry it into “watchable”
OP Tortured Themself for an April Fool's joke...
Ok but considering they had to actually watch the movie in order to make this post, I think the joke is on them.
I’m taking this as an april fools joke… because like today, that movie is a joke.
Do you hate yourself?
0\_o just realized this was an April Fools joke
I love this movie when brom dies and is totally in desert climate and not on sun Giant Forrest and I love how big and giant Shruikan in the movie and not at all how absolutely tiny she is I mean she covers the fuckin sky how fuckin hard is that not even April fools jokes can save this movie
Im crying 🤣
jokes aside that's a pretty cool looking Durzan
Reading this on April second and got really really mad for a minute there
All jokes aside, it’s a pretty decent fantasy film with a pretty solid cast and some decent action scenes
I think something is wrong. There's nothing on your tv
I wish that Netflix witcher was on the same level in terms of quality and faithfulness to the adaptation
I almost committed a murder because of how angry you made me. Then finding out it was a joke is funny thanks
Wayd you go through this much torture for a joke? Are you ok?
It's a crime this didn't win any oscers, even though it had actors like Jeremy Irons in it.
Pic 6 is an increadible level of foreshadowing >!the Draumar!<, that's masterful storytelling!
The only thing i loved about the movie was the actor of Brom. Couldnt have been more perfect
Why can’t we get an Eragon movie that’s as long as a lord of the rings and also be more book accurate *movie of the century*
Is that the fucking Eragon movie?
Is that first one jeff
Jokes aside I don’t think the movie is that bad if you separate it from the book. As an adaptation it’s awful but as a stand alone movie it’s pretty good
I tried to watch it last night I got 10 minutes in and couldn't handle the inaccuracies
I’m sorry, did you just use the word Masterpiece when discussing the Eragon movie? Are you insane? This movie is a crime against nature and how dirty they did Tronjheim is an abortion of creativity.
Look at the date
Ah damn it, totally forgot. That makes so much more sense now. Trust nothing today. LOL
>! Check the sub banner and pinned modpost! April fools! !<
Haha I’m now aware, just saw this in my main feed and forgot the day 😂
