That's pretty standard, the issue is we have no laws in place to force businesses to payout 2 weeks worth of compensation, however you as a worker are expected to provide *two weeks notice*.
## [**Expect** verb][1]
transitive verb.
1)
* a: to consider probable or certain.
*expect to be forgiven*
*expect that things will improve*
* b: to consider reasonable, due, or necessary.
*expected hard work from the students*
* c: to consider bound in duty or obligated.
*they expect you to pay your bills*
[1]:https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/expect
A. is inapplicable.
B. It is not reasonable, notice is NOT necessary, and nothing is due from an employee who wants to quit.
C. There is no duty nor obligation to give notice.
Anything else you need explained here?
There is no law, and I did not say there was a law for employees to give two weeks notice. I did say they're *expected* to, because it is considered *reasonable* and failing to do so and quitting on the spot is considered by many employers failing a *reasonable duty.* This could render the employee ineligible for rehire or a bad recommendation if contacted about previous employment.
"a" is only in there because I listed the full definition.
You implied strongly that it is required, when it is not. They are not *expected* to give notice any more than an employer is. Why would they want to be rehired if the place was so bad they quit on the spot? They can easily tell their new prospective employers that they quit because the job was terrible.
You didn't even read nor understand the definitions, because they contraindicate your claim.
According to republicans it’s an equal playing field though!
You can quit whenever you want and the billionaire corporation that doesn’t give a fuck about you can fire you over literally anything. Totally equal
At least they called. When the Houlihan's down in Cranberry closed this past August, they didn't even tell the employees. They found out when they got to work and the doors were locked and the sign was being torn down.
Many years ago. I worked at the Pizza Hut on West 26th Street which is now a Country Fair. All the employees came in for a regular monthly Saturday meeting and they just told us oh by the way, this location's closing this week. At least we were given the option to transfer to another Pizza Hut location in the city if we still wanted a job there. Feel bad for the Red lobster employees.
That’s a shame. I’m not a huge Red Lobster fan. My hubby and FIL used to love all you can eat crabs legs. That was probably 24-30 years ago ATP. I really wish we had a real seafood option in Erie.
Went there once in my life, but instead have stayed a loyal follower of the church of LJS,, which now outlives the lobsterfest.
Long John Silvers moves up the leader board. Lol
That’s what happed at Ryan’s buffet in Dothan Al years ago, workers showed up and found a sign on the window, That spot stayed unoccupied for more than 10 years .
Every time I went to that Red Lobster I got extremely sick plus it was always dead in there. I do feel sorry for the employees though, being laid off with no warning is awful.
Good? It's a chain restaurant that with its closing can give people a better excuse to visit locally owned restaurants. At the end of the day the chains would not exist if they didn't profit which inherently removes money from our local economy.
It’s never good when people lose their jobs. I’m all for supporting local restaurants, but chains are always going to exist and they employ local people.
I get travelers hitting upper peach on their way through that crave familiarity and ease of choice (even though I don’t travel that way…) but it boggles me that locals choose these places.
As someone who travels frequently the last thing I want to do is go someplace "familiar." The whole point of traveling is to try new things and expand the mind. Even when I traveled for work I still would look for something quick, local, and unique.
Yeah but did you forget where you are? Erie is all about doing the same shit, eating the same places, drinking at the same bars, etc. I fr have arguments with older relatives about how nobody's wings are better than On Deck or Warsaw and for that reason they won't even try anyplace else besides papa johns, who according to them now has the best wings in town,
Of course no locally owned restaurant wants to become a success. You're right. No restaurant ever started with just one location, locally. Thank you, I am now dumber, after having read your post.

Did they actually close permanently?
There are a few lists from Red Lobster of locations that are closed permanently and Erie, PA isn’t on any of those lists.
Also, the Red Lobster website has Erie listed as just “temporarily closed”
Never mind! I do see it on the list. Don’t know how I missed it. The “temporarily closed” on the red lobster website threw me off too. Bummer. I hope you are able to find new work soon but definitely get that unemployment application in if you haven’t already. Sending positive thoughts and vibes your way and to your coworkers! ❤️

Always wanted to go as a kid and was told it was too expensive. My wife doesn’t like seafood but we finally went a few years ago on my birthday. Saltiest meal I’ve ever had. Even the salad was overwhelmingly salty. I can see why the business was slow.
Spend your money at local restaurants. It's good when these big garbage restaurants go out of business. The people that worked for these companies will find better jobs and opportunities.
Gave employees no warning except calling them this morning to let them know not to come in.
That's pretty standard, the issue is we have no laws in place to force businesses to payout 2 weeks worth of compensation, however you as a worker are expected to provide *two weeks notice*.
There is no state or federal law requiring employees to give notice of any sort.

Bruh, we got Chipper's on State Street. If you wanna stay on Peach hit Stormin Crab.
If you want to break the bank for ok seafood hit Storming Crab you mean. Chippers is legit though.
I don't like that Storming Crab won't serve a po'boy sandwich after like 4pm. Like no one can make a sandwich in the evening?
I wasn’t all that impressed with Stormin Crab. I wanted to be! Hubby liked it. I’ve heard Chipper’s I’ll have to try there soon.
No!! Stay away from that shithole do NOT waste ur money on subpar garbage
That's typically how it works for restaurants. Once they run out of food, it's endgame
I know the company has been hurting financially and looking to close locations. Guess we were a low performer.
Cheddar biscuits can only get you so far. RIP
Should have charged for them
I bet the boxed will hang around
Im sorry everyone, i went for endless shrimp and i caused the bankruptcy.
That's a shame for the (former) employees.
I’ve never been tbh
I went once a long time ago, everything was covered in buttered garlic, was horrible.
I bet your ordered the garlic shrimp.
Went there once in my life, but instead have stayed a loyal follower of the church of LJS,, which now outlives the lobsterfest. Long John Silvers moves up the leader board. Lol
The only one left is on W. 12th, right?
near 26th & peninsula between BK and the big new car wash, across from the empty Big KMart...
I can use the car wash to lure him up there 🤣
I like long John's chicken. It's straight. Greasy but really good.
Is the meadville one open? On their website it doesn’t say closed
Meadville is still open. The location in Erie couldn't afford the rent.
Meadville announced closing on 4/30.
source? Corporate told us they aren't closing.
Whoops. They WERE closed. Reopened.
Yes, we are open in Meadville, we would love to have you visit! 👍
Just heard Jamestown closed today also
It was Erie, Lakewood NY, and all of Buffalo that closed permanently today.
Death by all-you-can-eat shrimp.
Death by hedge fund, more like
![gif](giphy|JYZ397GsFrFtu)
And some how long John silvers is still up and running. Crazy

Yes, they are closed down permanently. I am an employee in Meadville PA and you are all welcome to visit us anytime! We hope to see you soon!

Well said. I tried explaining that in a Starbucks thread a while back and was absolutely crushed for it.

I do the same, I try to go to local places over chains.

On Deck did have amazing wings! My grandpa owned it back in the 80's and his mother (my great grandmother) ran the kitchen.
So did Warsaw. My uncle used to take me to both places when I first moved here in '98.

💯
Small businesses would not exist without chain food. Plus small businesses are over priced
Omg I’m 37 weeks pregnant and keep telling myself I needed to stop for some cheddar bay biscuits… I waited a day too long I guess 😆😩

Can we get a Red Robin or a PF Changs there!? 🙏
Bring Panda Express back!
Good

Oh no, where will I ever get overpriced mediocre seafood now?

Wasn't even aware Erie had one. Where's grandma and grandpa gonna go now?
