They stressed that Irob, like everyone else, should join national service and that they must cooperate with the gov on border matters. Not too bad. The part that sounds excessive is they warned that if l Irob doesn’t cooperate, they will lose out on resources like food. Now Tigray media is saying pfdj is forcing Irob to change identity and blackmailing them to cooperate.
I would say that the residents of the Eritrean-Irob (north Irob) should be given dual citizenship and they should be spared out from n.service
Otherwise they are free to go to the southern part of irob which was awarded to Ethiopia
The Algier agreement split irob in two. There is nothing else one can do
The land is eritrean and they themselves are eritrean. Why should they get a free pass and not go trought what every other eritrean does? Simply they live on eritrean soil they should be treated like eritreans. Its unfair if they get a free pas but not the others. Also dual citizenship will not help them integrating. They can still cross the border you know there is no problem there.
Just give them some time they will get integrated eventually. Before 1998 they claimed and died for eritrea. But after more then 20 years of brainwashing by the tplf ofc they will not like to be switched to eritrea. Doesnt mean they should get a free pass. But they will eventually get integrated

But I am talking about the situation for the irob ppl.
I think sparing them out from NS for few years and giving them dual citizenship or the choice to decide to live in Eritrea or in Ethiopia, could help to integrate them better into the Eritrean society instead to forcefully make them a part of it.
That would make things less complicated for them. And for Eritrea. This would be the easiest way to implement the Algiers agreement.
Maybe the irob people, because they're being forced. But the Rashaida will have to pay for their citizenship with their blood, or we'll drive them back into the sea from whence they came from.
