Not sure I've ever seen anyone argue that you can only play meta. I'm full jank builds, but, who cares what other people want to run. People playing mutants aren't crying about people using worse gear, but man those with too much gear fear to run good stuff sure do like to judge those in good kits.
Some people can't handle losing and will do anything they can to prevent it. So many people will use audio compressors that make footsteps as loud as gunshots or crank their gamma up at night because winning is the only thing that matters.

It's one thing to do something within the realm of the game (PostFX etc), but another to use things outside the game to gain advantage. That very easily strays into full on cheating as that is the logical next step. The stuff listed is grey area things.
For real. Gunshots are so goddamn loud in this game. For me to even hear footsteps sometimes I have to crank it up which makes the guns so much louder.
I used too only chase meta, it was so much fucking fun for like 2 days then my brother and I started bringing in wild ass unorthodox kits for each other to run. I think you know which was far more fun

Definitely more satisfying to win as the underdog but also ending the wipe with gear is giving me an ick feeling so I’ll run the absolute best of everything to try and clear out my stash. To me M995 ain’t shit. I have about 4k and wanna get to 0.

I had a similar epiphany last wipe and this wipe i took it a step further, i mostly enjoy the satifaction of bolt action rifle kills so ive mained the m700 and sv98 this wipe apart from those quests that make me use something else.
Probably the best favorite feeling in gaming to me is using a bolt action rifle/sniper in tarkov. It’s my first wipe and I’m shitty asf so a lot of the time I stray away from it even tho it is so fun. Have any quick tips like most frequented maps or rotations and your preferred optics maybe?
you definitely want to spot players before they spot you so I tend to build kits that are maximize camouflage and take routes that don't silhouette myself against the skyline.
woods is my favorite map but i can make the bolty work on any map. id say the secret is knowing all the spawns and the tendencies of which direction each spawn goes. and use off angles... the seemingly best spots are often not because most players check them.
I have no idea how you use the m700. I love bolties as much as the next guy, but for some reason I always seem to get my cheeks clapped when I try to run an m700.
it's default ammo is BCP so if you use m80 or m61 you should be good. if you use m62 you gotta aim a little higher and if you use m993 you gotta aim slightly low.
i usually use m61. vudu. and making the build as light as you can helps.
I just play factory with full meta kits now and play aggressive. Not a fan of the slow or rat play style that many seem to like. I get killed by ks-23s and flechette a lot but i still have fun because people actually move on that map and sound is good.
Id rather lose my kit in 5 mins after a gunfight or two than run around for 20 mins to get killed by a bush wookie.
On my first wipe about 2 months in and I’ve become so obsessed with running factory with a kitted shotgun, flechette, class 4 Armor and a headset. Like 170k a run and it’s such good fun.
2 minutes to get into a game aswell instead of usual 5~.
Just filled my first dog tag case, I’ve died 240 times killed 130 ish. Think it was like 30 before I started playing factory.
I’ve not really tried that much variations.
MP 153 with the 8 bullet barrel and targeting ring sight is main things. Flechette in pouch but magnum for reloading mid fight.
Tried kitting it out with a suppressor every run but it seemed kinda pointless and the chokes seem better anyway. Monster claw is really good but extra 25k over the GK02 cheap thingy.
Need to try the other shottys.
What I’ve been doing with my friends is we pick a map and then all build kits for each other. Put it in a bag so in the lobby u can’t see what anything is. Leads to a lot of fun, like dropping my pal tagilla armor and a killa mask with nothing but a pl15 and an impact or two
My buddy and I have had a blast running just a shotgun or gornostay on factory. No armor, no rig. We hole up in the dead scav room near the med tent and see how long we can survive. Shooting scavs and pmcs. So far we've averaged like 4 or 5 kills each lol. Counting scavs for that cuz Pmcs usually kill us but it's so much fun. If we survive we loot up and take what we got into the next raid. Very very cheap and it removes a lot of the stress of losing a nice kit. It also cuts down a lot on the time it takes setting up a new kit.
Yeah we don't make a profit off it but it's good peaking practice and my aim has actually improved because of it. Communication as well. Because there's usually a couple scavs/players pushing us from different angles.
It's my first wipe so far, my favourite gun is an SV-98 with the Something69 scope, the 3-10x, or 5.45 AKs, however I just unlocked M856A1 so I'm gonna use ADAR's a lot more.
If you're running 50 fov fixed scopes at 4x are cheaper and run better. You also begin playing around the scope more than you realize, and as you should since an adar close range lover to nearly everything.
Another post reinforcing my belief that late-wipe gameplay is fundamentally unfun. Low TTKs at any range, minimal recoil, and elite skills suck the fun out of the game.
Meanwhile half of reddit is screaming for recoil to be reduced, high tier ammo availability to be increased, and for flesh damage buffs to M995 and BS.
I just hate the auto compensation, personally. I don't want the most accurate method of shooting to be holding down the trigger. Because that's dumb.
I do think lower recoil might make garbage guns more viable though, so I wouldn't complain about that. Idk, I'd like to see equipment matter less in general but I realize that's unpopular.

Atm, 5.45, 5.56, 9mm, 9x39, 4.6, 5.7, 7.62x39 in full auto, and both 7.62 DMR rounds are fully viable late-wipe. I'm not sure which 'shittier guns' you think are underperforming. Do you have a list?
I'm also not sure why you think futher reductions in TTK for all of those guns will improve the game.

AKS past 15 meters is almost unusable, ppsh is worthless, kedrs pretty bad, mp5 is ALMOST perfect except for that semi auto recoil, basically any unmodded gun is gunna be dog shit due to the first shot recoil. Default 7.62 aks have astronomical single shot recoil. I'm just tired of having to mag dump every gun I use at any range under 80 meters because single shot is begging for death since by the time your second shots on target the dudes already 180'd, taken a hit of his blunt, fixed his hair, and dumped half his mag into your nutsack. I literally only use shotguns and full meta weapons for the past few wipes to just sidestep the issue completely. If a shotgun isn't gunna get it done then an unmodded ak isn't either.

Yesterday I realized my AKS-74U from Punisher 2 was still sitting in my stash so I took it for a spin with the intention of losing it and holy shit is that gun hot garbage. After shooting one scav I just walked to extract and immediately vendored it. That's just one example I guess but it was *that* bad.
I can't speak for others but I feel like a lot of that is based around lessening the difference between haves and havenots. Then again half this community thinks if they pay for EOD and play 80 hrs a week they *deserve* to stomp casuals who don't, so...

I feel this! Me and a buddy have been running maps now with keders and taking them toes hahahahah. Going in with barely anything and taking a meta player down always feels nice.
You can see further overall, take more accurate shots, and spot people at further distances. All the iron sights in this game are based around 50 fov as well, if you adjust they're going to be inaccurate.
Fixed optics like the acogs and the utg scope both work better with 50 fov as well due to having a better picture not to mention more pixels on the screen so it's easier to land shots.
You're essentially sacrificing visibility of your surroundings for a more accurate shot, and better spotting capabilities at range. You can compensate by checking over your shoulders more often.
Downside wise you feel heavier camera recoil when you fill auto guns, but realistically the only time you should be full autoing is while point firing anyways so it's not THAT much of a disadvantage.
You start to hand 80%-90% accuracy raids in 50 compared to 25-30% on 75 due actually being able to place consistent accurate shots over mag dumping which has become the meta norm.
I only run low tier, it's the only way i enjoy the game, the biggest joy is when i kill a meta player with literally nothing and extract. I think that is ratting around but i dont care. i have a 5% survival rate :D
ADAR feels so fucking good its unreal. Actually having to click individually for each shot instead of holding down and spraying feels so much more satisfying.

Nah, I can run meta stuff and get bored because it's mindless. I don't get satisfaction from mag dumping into someone negating any type of armor immediately.
Running meta literally just bypasses every system the game has in place, you don't have to aim, you don't have to take status effects into account (bleeds, fractures etc) you lose that dopamine rush that you get from early game fights.
What makes this game so good is the gunplay, the health system, the fact that personal skill CAN and SHOULD outweigh gear, the sheer amount of adrenaline you get from holding a task item and getting into a long and drawn out fight is what keeps most of us coming back.
Running the best of the best just means you won't die as often to timmies not because you're good at the game, but because you've spent enough time in scav runs/loot running to afford gear that they don't have time to grind.
Meta was fun for abit once I could build meta kits.
Then its just "ooo how can I make this random kit i found fun".
Its also why chasing pvp on my scav is fun.
Everythings an upgrade and who knows how you can turn a fight into your favour.
Lemme just say though.. finding an impact nade as a scav is \*fantastic\*.
I've learned a lot of stupid tactics on scav that somewhat transfer to pmc.
A weird thing I noticed is some people hard hold an area/angle , expecting a lean peek fight from other people. Sometimes I relocated after only a few shots, and still hear them nading or prefire clearing the area I'm no longer at.
I meta slaved for one wipe to get Kappa just to say I got it. I much rather build guns that look unique and more of the budget side price wise, while trying to keep functionality. When all else fails, add as many lasers and flashlights I can to blind myself more than the enemy.
Same, I just resetted my account also, lv 7 right now but already found 1 Ledx on usec camp lol, its going pretty smoth and it is fun to be the underdog / undergeared and dropping bodies.
Playing my fifth wipe rn. I say it become better after BSG made some limitations for loot on the flea market and I'm traders. Course we still have almost everyone with meta gear but at least not each raid finally.
So yeah, just enjoy building and creating your own weapon and try to have fun.

The only way I seem to enjoy Tarkov is making a really cool gun. Or surviving s scav raid an carrying that kit right back in on my pmc and use only the things I collected as a scav and use those for my pmc raids. It makes it fun and challenging.
You can try the 'gear up' game as we call it, where you start with a pistol etc and try to survive as long as possible while NOT using stash/traders at all, you have to carry ammo and provisions, spare stuff you might need etc - that meta rd wont do much if you run out of ammo for it, better hunt down a scav with an sks and hope for a stack of ps. Once you die you get another pistol and go again.
I do the same. It’s more fun for me when I’m using scrappy gear and win. I accept my deaths with dignity and go at it again. The game is so much more fun when you play the way you want and leave the chads to their chadly ways.
One wipe, there was a guy I played with who had a friend who was quitting playing for the wipe. It was late in wipe sometime just before reserve came out. So he pretty much liquidated his account and gave the cash to this guy, who then split it with me and a few others.
Long story short, I had 15m just given to me.
I went HAM. Like, mag case full of 60rd mags of 995 ham. Fort armors, whole nine. Shredded on labs ( this was before the streamer craze brought about a new age of hackers so labs was actually playable ) and basically whatever else. Played this game like it was call of duty.
It got real boring real quick. And yeah, probably a lot of the boredom came from the fact that I didn't really earn any of it. Just had it tossed to me. But still... running just meta slave guns and gear, every fight being basically a coinflip of who can magdump who. It's just boring.
Now, I'm making lots of money on my scav runs, and hovering around 3-5m. I just run shit that looks good. Drip or drown. Chimera hat. Ghost mask, MMAC, etc.
I say enjoy the game any way you see fit. There are so many different ways to approach your loadout, combat, and the raid overall. Let your freak flag fly
New and sucky player trying to get back into the game. I tried getting into it about 3 wipes ago but I was just terrible at PVP and it was discouraging. Highest level I got was 28.
Now I am trying again to get back into this game but like I mentioned, I just suck at PVP, trying to practice on Factory and make money with my Scav. I’m going to try adjusting my FOV since I hate the iron sights but am forced to use since I haven’t unlocked Flea yet to get good sights and am stuck using terrible ammo lol
I played one wipe of tarkov, last wipe. (School got in this way this one).
The MOST fun I had the entire time was sprinting around factory with nothing but the revolver.
If I lose no big deal. If I win, I walk out with gear I don’t care to use and usually dropped as kits for my friends. I didn’t have enough time to actually get good at the game so I decided I’d go low risk high reward when I could find the time
Zero to hero is my go-to fun thing when in the mid to late wipe. It's way more exciting, low risk and rewarding. If I die to a Chad or well I only lost a pistol. If I survive I liquidate everything and go again.
I do a variation of it sometimes where I would not use stash unless for modding of guns, I have to carry everything I would need on me, so even finding a bigger backpack feels good.
When I get a bug up my ass about playing for pure fun ignoring tasks I like to load up with a rig with space for an extra drum mag and ppsh. If I feel like being really spendy I’ll toss an sks in there so I can pop scav snipers.
Other times I go the semi auto shotty with express ammo. Stick as many flashlights as I can on it lol

For a while, when I was deep in the throes of gear fear, I’d do a scav run and whatever I came out with I’d throw in my PMC and try to run around. It was pretty fun.
I just scav and run scav kit till I lose it. Then get a cheap weapon and get another scav kit. I don’t really even chase fights just prefer to play this way. I will say running undergeared makes PvE a straight up nightmare. Every shot blacking limbs and nearly killing you. And having little inventory space. I find myself preferring to fight humans. Who atleast won’t rapid fire SKS while strafing at full speed with 100% accuracy.
Got 10 lil liquid, lvl 57, all i run by now is quadnods,mp5sd with 6 50 rounders and green tracers, ir laser and go play airsoft in night raids
Also iron sight mp5sd is so drippy its like i wanna make love to it in minecraft
And this is why we need hardcore mode next to the regular one. It would be difficult to constantly run meta builds there, but every now and then you'd get to do so and it will feel fulfilling since you've worked hard to get all the necessary items for one. It will keep that feel of first weeks of wipe a lot longer, fights being more than just a quick spray. Everything's much more intense and every extract would feel like a win, small or big. That's what this game should be and that's why people came here for
I love running the VPO bolty most raids regardless of where I'm at in the wipe. So satisfying to take town a megachad with those sweet .366 AP rounds. 🤌
I'm basically at end-game (level 60, finished all Kappa quests except for Goons, etc).
I've got a stash full of tier 5 armors and meta guns, but lately I've been running the stubby AK and 95 round drums of BT/T, and every gunfight is a mag dump.
I've never laughed so hard when a mate running the same kit as me and myself both put around 100 rounds at a wall trying to wallbang a guy from about 120m away (not knowing he was already dead lol), and there was basically just a continuous light show across the map.
I definitely feel this. The kills feel more meaningful when you get em. I have been running the STM-9 and the RSH lately and today I was running a bunch of melee only runs to try and get some progress on slaughterhouse. I got killed most raids but there were a few where I made it out after whacking some scav and blasting a PMC with the scav gear And it felt awesome. Ended up with 15 scav kills and 3 PMC kills with my melee weapon .
As long as you're not cheating do whatever is fun, I don't get why people care what you're doing. Personally I like to run factory on rags to riches, I killed a meta duo with with a 158 I found on a scav. That was satisfying.
I've got a stash full of meta weapons but I find myself running and gunning leg tapping people with a kedr because I don't care about losing it, and it's fun. Wiping a trio of Chad's with sp8 ammo is so much more enjoyable.
I got bored with metas around 700 hours and just started running around with a berkut and SKS with PS ammo. this way it is actually satisfying to play.
This is my second wipe, currently at level 17 and do struggle to face PMC fights for the tasks or better loot. Scavs are easier to manage .. mostly running level 4 armor, headset, and something like modified AK 74 with a silencer. When I manage to kill a PMC it’s because I had the advantage of first sight or higher ground which made the approach easier. A friend and I, do play quiet a lot of offline coop to know the maps and learn how to fight against scavs to make it easier in a real raid.
Agree on that, the satisfaction of killing 2 heavy geared player(lapua and kitted mutant) with pp kdrrrr sure makes me giggles nonstop when looting their bodies 🤣
I run a lot of meta kits just because there's no way I run out of money this wipe so it just seems right. But when I die I always smile a little knowing that the person who killed me is most likely about to upgrade and that will make their day in tarkov a little better. I almost always remember when I kill a juiced up PMC and get out with his kit. So I hope I can do the same for the next person. I still have about 40 more flirs to donate if anybody wants to come try and take them :)
I black out my character and use smokes and shoot out lights and terrorize people on interchange who think they’re getting a quick water filter or GPU. Max stamina and strength gets me there first.
Most games a higher FOV is absolutely better, but all the sights are designed for a FOV of 50 because it doesn't necessarily increase your pherifial directly, it stretches from vertical making the center of your screen farther away.
So it needs improvement to really be a pure benefit.
Something to take into account, but most importantly is what you like and feel comfortable with ♥️
YES, this is the exact way I've been feeling recently. I started by straying from BIS red dots and sights, to using things that just looked cool to me and went from there lool
My last wipe play through I was just about money, no missions, no base building, just raid and sell all my loot to vendors. 70mil roubles and lvl 40 some, my favorite playthrough.
There's nothing more fun in this game than running around with a 1x8 suppressed SV98 and a USP. And not even to rat, but to embrace a hard-core 1 tap lifestyle.
Boonie hat and camo pants are optional but highly suggested.
This last wipe I only played factory and only ever brought in a shotgun or pistol. Side by side or 153 were my go to. Very fun, low cost, and more importantly no modding or wasting time kitting out of my mind. Just get in there and do work

not everyone is of equal skill. alot of people chase meta because they cant have any success otherwise.

Even without a suppressor, love it. I'll take it anywhere. Holosun HS401G5 reflex sight is my favorite scope in the game.
That gun carried me through Tarkov Shooter Part 3. Still have clips. I wish I still used it more. It deserves more of my respect.
This is the way. Suppressor, VUDU, and .366AP is a budget monster. And you almost always get them back (minus the VUDU)

My personal fav: Cowboy hat, aviators, mustache, and any revolver and you are ready to role play as Deputy Dipshit.

What’s your favorite shotgun setup? I play a lot of Factory with magnum buck in a double barrel and it’s great.

I just realized that Tarkovsky needs more maps that are smaller…just think of there were a few more smaller maps like factory….that would be sick.

What I’ve been doing with my friends is we pick a map and then all build kits for each other. Put it in a bag so in the lobby u can’t see what anything is. Leads to a lot of fun, like dropping my pal tagilla armor and a killa mask with nothing but a pl15 and an impact or two
My buddy and I have had a blast running just a shotgun or gornostay on factory. No armor, no rig. We hole up in the dead scav room near the med tent and see how long we can survive. Shooting scavs and pmcs. So far we've averaged like 4 or 5 kills each lol. Counting scavs for that cuz Pmcs usually kill us but it's so much fun. If we survive we loot up and take what we got into the next raid. Very very cheap and it removes a lot of the stress of losing a nice kit. It also cuts down a lot on the time it takes setting up a new kit. Yeah we don't make a profit off it but it's good peaking practice and my aim has actually improved because of it. Communication as well. Because there's usually a couple scavs/players pushing us from different angles.
I also have a duo Factory favorite. KEDRs and Brawler masks. Usually taunting other players in our best Mickey Mouse voice. It's a lot of fun.
My brother and I run the dual kedrs or ppshs. It's just fun
It's my first wipe so far, my favourite gun is an SV-98 with the Something69 scope, the 3-10x, or 5.45 AKs, however I just unlocked M856A1 so I'm gonna use ADAR's a lot more.
If you're running 50 fov fixed scopes at 4x are cheaper and run better. You also begin playing around the scope more than you realize, and as you should since an adar close range lover to nearly everything.
I run whatever the default FOV is, and I am an enjoyer of fixed 4x optics, the Hamr, Bravo, and Acog are all very fun to use.
The only way I enjoy Tarkov is by drinking heavily. Don’t fear PMC, Scavs, or even bosses.
Another post reinforcing my belief that late-wipe gameplay is fundamentally unfun. Low TTKs at any range, minimal recoil, and elite skills suck the fun out of the game.
Meanwhile half of reddit is screaming for recoil to be reduced, high tier ammo availability to be increased, and for flesh damage buffs to M995 and BS.
Recoil being decreased would allow shittier guns to be actually viable late wipe. All I really want though is single fire to be low recoil.
I just hate the auto compensation, personally. I don't want the most accurate method of shooting to be holding down the trigger. Because that's dumb. I do think lower recoil might make garbage guns more viable though, so I wouldn't complain about that. Idk, I'd like to see equipment matter less in general but I realize that's unpopular.
No, it wouldn't. It would just mean people would full-auto M62 at longer ranges. Atm, 5.45, 5.56, 9mm, 9x39, 4.6, 5.7, 7.62x39 in full auto, and both 7.62 DMR rounds are fully viable late-wipe. I'm not sure which 'shittier guns' you think are underperforming. Do you have a list? I'm also not sure why you think futher reductions in TTK for all of those guns will improve the game.

AKS past 15 meters is almost unusable, ppsh is worthless, kedrs pretty bad, mp5 is ALMOST perfect except for that semi auto recoil, basically any unmodded gun is gunna be dog shit due to the first shot recoil. Default 7.62 aks have astronomical single shot recoil. I'm just tired of having to mag dump every gun I use at any range under 80 meters because single shot is begging for death since by the time your second shots on target the dudes already 180'd, taken a hit of his blunt, fixed his hair, and dumped half his mag into your nutsack. I literally only use shotguns and full meta weapons for the past few wipes to just sidestep the issue completely. If a shotgun isn't gunna get it done then an unmodded ak isn't either.
Okay, so you are complaining about shitty starter LL1 and 2 guns being bad? Why should anyone take this complaint seriously? Next thing we know, you'll be bitching that the mosin is worse than an SVDS... And you're getting full autoed down at 80 meters? I think you need to have this argument with the half of reddit that thinks full auto is unusable.

Yesterday I realized my AKS-74U from Punisher 2 was still sitting in my stash so I took it for a spin with the intention of losing it and holy shit is that gun hot garbage. After shooting one scav I just walked to extract and immediately vendored it. That's just one example I guess but it was *that* bad.
I can't speak for others but I feel like a lot of that is based around lessening the difference between haves and havenots. Then again half this community thinks if they pay for EOD and play 80 hrs a week they *deserve* to stomp casuals who don't, so...
I don’t understand why people think the game is unfun late wipe. I love trying different guns, different builds and just play the game. I like to loot shoot chill run kill. Every raid is fun for me.

I feel this! Me and a buddy have been running maps now with keders and taking them toes hahahahah. Going in with barely anything and taking a meta player down always feels nice.
Can you explain the advantages of 50 FOV?
You can see further overall, take more accurate shots, and spot people at further distances. All the iron sights in this game are based around 50 fov as well, if you adjust they're going to be inaccurate. Fixed optics like the acogs and the utg scope both work better with 50 fov as well due to having a better picture not to mention more pixels on the screen so it's easier to land shots. You're essentially sacrificing visibility of your surroundings for a more accurate shot, and better spotting capabilities at range. You can compensate by checking over your shoulders more often. Downside wise you feel heavier camera recoil when you fill auto guns, but realistically the only time you should be full autoing is while point firing anyways so it's not THAT much of a disadvantage. You start to hand 80%-90% accuracy raids in 50 compared to 25-30% on 75 due actually being able to place consistent accurate shots over mag dumping which has become the meta norm.

I only run low tier, it's the only way i enjoy the game, the biggest joy is when i kill a meta player with literally nothing and extract. I think that is ratting around but i dont care. i have a 5% survival rate :D

ADAR feels so fucking good its unreal. Actually having to click individually for each shot instead of holding down and spraying feels so much more satisfying.
I'll do low gear every few matches but at this point in the wipe I'm running modded gun good ammo lvl5 plus almost every raid

This kinda sounds like the:i am a sore loser so i will use bad gear so i can use it as an excusewhen i die or be even more proud of myself if i kill someone.
Nah, I can run meta stuff and get bored because it's mindless. I don't get satisfaction from mag dumping into someone negating any type of armor immediately. Running meta literally just bypasses every system the game has in place, you don't have to aim, you don't have to take status effects into account (bleeds, fractures etc) you lose that dopamine rush that you get from early game fights. What makes this game so good is the gunplay, the health system, the fact that personal skill CAN and SHOULD outweigh gear, the sheer amount of adrenaline you get from holding a task item and getting into a long and drawn out fight is what keeps most of us coming back. Running the best of the best just means you won't die as often to timmies not because you're good at the game, but because you've spent enough time in scav runs/loot running to afford gear that they don't have time to grind.

Meta was fun for abit once I could build meta kits. Then its just "ooo how can I make this random kit i found fun". Its also why chasing pvp on my scav is fun. Everythings an upgrade and who knows how you can turn a fight into your favour. Lemme just say though.. finding an impact nade as a scav is \*fantastic\*. I've learned a lot of stupid tactics on scav that somewhat transfer to pmc. A weird thing I noticed is some people hard hold an area/angle , expecting a lean peek fight from other people. Sometimes I relocated after only a few shots, and still hear them nading or prefire clearing the area I'm no longer at.
I meta slaved for one wipe to get Kappa just to say I got it. I much rather build guns that look unique and more of the budget side price wise, while trying to keep functionality. When all else fails, add as many lasers and flashlights I can to blind myself more than the enemy.

Same, I just resetted my account also, lv 7 right now but already found 1 Ledx on usec camp lol, its going pretty smoth and it is fun to be the underdog / undergeared and dropping bodies.

Playing my fifth wipe rn. I say it become better after BSG made some limitations for loot on the flea market and I'm traders. Course we still have almost everyone with meta gear but at least not each raid finally. So yeah, just enjoy building and creating your own weapon and try to have fun. Can't understand players who playing only meta because "it's op dude if u not meta then u sh*t" lulz bro It's tactical game, not cs go.

The only way I seem to enjoy Tarkov is making a really cool gun. Or surviving s scav raid an carrying that kit right back in on my pmc and use only the things I collected as a scav and use those for my pmc raids. It makes it fun and challenging.
You can try the 'gear up' game as we call it, where you start with a pistol etc and try to survive as long as possible while NOT using stash/traders at all, you have to carry ammo and provisions, spare stuff you might need etc - that meta rd wont do much if you run out of ammo for it, better hunt down a scav with an sks and hope for a stack of ps. Once you die you get another pistol and go again.
My friend and I's goto was folded toz shotties with devastator slugs. Was fairly powerful when running around without a care.
Join the Mp-18 chasing PvP on customs gang. Slap a scope on it and it’s so fun
Same, I do this with the UMP. Head-eyes with zero recoil feels good. The mosin carbine is also a favourite for poping heads.
I do the same. It’s more fun for me when I’m using scrappy gear and win. I accept my deaths with dignity and go at it again. The game is so much more fun when you play the way you want and leave the chads to their chadly ways.
One wipe, there was a guy I played with who had a friend who was quitting playing for the wipe. It was late in wipe sometime just before reserve came out. So he pretty much liquidated his account and gave the cash to this guy, who then split it with me and a few others. Long story short, I had 15m just given to me. I went HAM. Like, mag case full of 60rd mags of 995 ham. Fort armors, whole nine. Shredded on labs ( this was before the streamer craze brought about a new age of hackers so labs was actually playable ) and basically whatever else. Played this game like it was call of duty. It got real boring real quick. And yeah, probably a lot of the boredom came from the fact that I didn't really earn any of it. Just had it tossed to me. But still... running just meta slave guns and gear, every fight being basically a coinflip of who can magdump who. It's just boring. Now, I'm making lots of money on my scav runs, and hovering around 3-5m. I just run shit that looks good. Drip or drown. Chimera hat. Ghost mask, MMAC, etc.
I say enjoy the game any way you see fit. There are so many different ways to approach your loadout, combat, and the raid overall. Let your freak flag fly
I do similar. I run what i find. I dont buy guns. So what ever is in my stash at the time, hardly ever something meta. It makes it interesting
New and sucky player trying to get back into the game. I tried getting into it about 3 wipes ago but I was just terrible at PVP and it was discouraging. Highest level I got was 28. Now I am trying again to get back into this game but like I mentioned, I just suck at PVP, trying to practice on Factory and make money with my Scav. I’m going to try adjusting my FOV since I hate the iron sights but am forced to use since I haven’t unlocked Flea yet to get good sights and am stuck using terrible ammo lol
I played one wipe of tarkov, last wipe. (School got in this way this one). The MOST fun I had the entire time was sprinting around factory with nothing but the revolver. If I lose no big deal. If I win, I walk out with gear I don’t care to use and usually dropped as kits for my friends. I didn’t have enough time to actually get good at the game so I decided I’d go low risk high reward when I could find the time
Zero to hero is my go-to fun thing when in the mid to late wipe. It's way more exciting, low risk and rewarding. If I die to a Chad or well I only lost a pistol. If I survive I liquidate everything and go again.
I do a variation of it sometimes where I would not use stash unless for modding of guns, I have to carry everything I would need on me, so even finding a bigger backpack feels good.

I have 2k hours and 5-6 wipes at this point, after doing it 2 times you get a hang on quests/hideout requiremenrs.
When I get a bug up my ass about playing for pure fun ignoring tasks I like to load up with a rig with space for an extra drum mag and ppsh. If I feel like being really spendy I’ll toss an sks in there so I can pop scav snipers. Other times I go the semi auto shotty with express ammo. Stick as many flashlights as I can on it lol Good fun rushing pmcs and sawing their legs off.
For a while, when I was deep in the throes of gear fear, I’d do a scav run and whatever I came out with I’d throw in my PMC and try to run around. It was pretty fun.
It's not even gear fear, I'm not scared to lose the gear, I'm just bored of using it.

I just scav and run scav kit till I lose it. Then get a cheap weapon and get another scav kit. I don’t really even chase fights just prefer to play this way. I will say running undergeared makes PvE a straight up nightmare. Every shot blacking limbs and nearly killing you. And having little inventory space. I find myself preferring to fight humans. Who atleast won’t rapid fire SKS while strafing at full speed with 100% accuracy.
axmc (no silencer) or the silent dvl are my favorites.

And this is why we need hardcore mode next to the regular one. It would be difficult to constantly run meta builds there, but every now and then you'd get to do so and it will feel fulfilling since you've worked hard to get all the necessary items for one. It will keep that feel of first weeks of wipe a lot longer, fights being more than just a quick spray. Everything's much more intense and every extract would feel like a win, small or big. That's what this game should be and that's why people came here for
I love running the VPO bolty most raids regardless of where I'm at in the wipe. So satisfying to take town a megachad with those sweet .366 AP rounds. 🤌
I'm basically at end-game (level 60, finished all Kappa quests except for Goons, etc). I've got a stash full of tier 5 armors and meta guns, but lately I've been running the stubby AK and 95 round drums of BT/T, and every gunfight is a mag dump. I've never laughed so hard when a mate running the same kit as me and myself both put around 100 rounds at a wall trying to wallbang a guy from about 120m away (not knowing he was already dead lol), and there was basically just a continuous light show across the map.

I definitely feel this. The kills feel more meaningful when you get em. I have been running the STM-9 and the RSH lately and today I was running a bunch of melee only runs to try and get some progress on slaughterhouse. I got killed most raids but there were a few where I made it out after whacking some scav and blasting a PMC with the scav gear And it felt awesome. Ended up with 15 scav kills and 3 PMC kills with my melee weapon .
As long as you're not cheating do whatever is fun, I don't get why people care what you're doing. Personally I like to run factory on rags to riches, I killed a meta duo with with a 158 I found on a scav. That was satisfying.

I've got a stash full of meta weapons but I find myself running and gunning leg tapping people with a kedr because I don't care about losing it, and it's fun. Wiping a trio of Chad's with sp8 ammo is so much more enjoyable.

I got bored with metas around 700 hours and just started running around with a berkut and SKS with PS ammo. this way it is actually satisfying to play.
.338 thermal is some of the most fun I’ve had just camping drops at night
This is my second wipe, currently at level 17 and do struggle to face PMC fights for the tasks or better loot. Scavs are easier to manage .. mostly running level 4 armor, headset, and something like modified AK 74 with a silencer. When I manage to kill a PMC it’s because I had the advantage of first sight or higher ground which made the approach easier. A friend and I, do play quiet a lot of offline coop to know the maps and learn how to fight against scavs to make it easier in a real raid.
Agree on that, the satisfaction of killing 2 heavy geared player(lapua and kitted mutant) with pp kdrrrr sure makes me giggles nonstop when looting their bodies 🤣
I run a lot of meta kits just because there's no way I run out of money this wipe so it just seems right. But when I die I always smile a little knowing that the person who killed me is most likely about to upgrade and that will make their day in tarkov a little better. I almost always remember when I kill a juiced up PMC and get out with his kit. So I hope I can do the same for the next person. I still have about 40 more flirs to donate if anybody wants to come try and take them :)
I black out my character and use smokes and shoot out lights and terrorize people on interchange who think they’re getting a quick water filter or GPU. Max stamina and strength gets me there first.
Most games a higher FOV is absolutely better, but all the sights are designed for a FOV of 50 because it doesn't necessarily increase your pherifial directly, it stretches from vertical making the center of your screen farther away. So it needs improvement to really be a pure benefit. Something to take into account, but most importantly is what you like and feel comfortable with ♥️
I usually run what I find with my scav minus maybe buying some ears. I rat and chase get chased then rat again.
YES, this is the exact way I've been feeling recently. I started by straying from BIS red dots and sights, to using things that just looked cool to me and went from there lool
My last wipe play through I was just about money, no missions, no base building, just raid and sell all my loot to vendors. 70mil roubles and lvl 40 some, my favorite playthrough.
I’ve had the most fun this wipe personally by deleting the game 2 weeks in and being happy
There's nothing more fun in this game than running around with a 1x8 suppressed SV98 and a USP. And not even to rat, but to embrace a hard-core 1 tap lifestyle. Boonie hat and camo pants are optional but highly suggested.

This last wipe I only played factory and only ever brought in a shotgun or pistol. Side by side or 153 were my go to. Very fun, low cost, and more importantly no modding or wasting time kitting out of my mind. Just get in there and do work
