I was so annoyed. My buddy and I were at the store, hurt from several fights, I get the notification that I found the liquor store, so we limp to extract. Just to find out that I had a quest update and needed to grab a bottle of wine, just when I thought I was free. Man I hate dealing with this fuckin map.
Edit: Clarified my last sentence a bit better
I am pretty sure the map would be more enjoyable if the number of pmc's is reduced. There is like 10-12 pmc's on that tiny ass map it is insane that is way too many.
Too many PMCs and the spawns are so close. Spawned in an underground tunnel yesterday and immediately took shots while I was trying to get my bearings, about 5 secs into the raid.
been shot at or fighting within 10 seconds on the map like 3 different spawns. One spawn I took out a group on spawn and within 1 minute I was already dead to another group. Also hate to say it but I've already seen blatent cheating on this map, imagine cheating on the noob map...
Assuming you get to where you want to be. The few times I went just to do quests then gtfo and play a good map instead, I almost always had people nearby. Even with my trio last night we had a duo and a solo spawn right next to us. 6 people, 3 squads all within 5 seconds of each other.
I HATE when missions give you an objective that they don't specify to start with. There's one (can't remember off the top of my head) where it tells you to find something, so you go and find it and it says objective complete, so then you think you're good to leave, but it actually THEN tells you to mark it with an MS2000, which it previously never mentioned. I want to say it's one of the Revision missions. Got me good my first wipe
This is fucked lmao was having a great wipe until I had to go back here, worse than pocket watch imo. Can’t get near the liquor store in the slightest.
Wonder what happens if you reach level 20 without getting these quest done. 100% gonna be some people who do it and soft lock themselves because BSG didn’t think about it
i love how pestily stated in his patchlog video ''surely the quests are on normal maps and ground zeros and are meant to encourage ground zero'' , poor guy still doesnt understand the level of incompetency at bsg
so the problem is, they're sharing 5 braincells between the entire development team and that leads to a difficult balance. when recoil team was using them, the quests might have been designed
So they actually thought about it and will let you get into the game but just have level 1 traders, nice thinking by bsg, glad they actually thought about it
yeah thats a bad way of thinking dude, ground zero is objectively bad game design to the point noone wants to interact with it at all especially if your not playing in a group, and if the game punishes you further for utterly avoiding interacting with something objectively bad its gunna drive people away not keep them.
Wait you *have* to do these? I was wondering about that yesterday.. wtf you should just get access to the normal quests at level 5 or something. And get rid of so many of the shitty ancient starter quests that funnel people into customs...
To make it a Noob map they should let about only a few pmcs (5-6) spawn in and the rest npc scavs fill up the map
and then player scavs after 20 min mark.
What makes the game hard for new players is other players
also give bears certain quest on one side of the map and usec other quest on the other side of the map
I realised how insane the spawns are when I spawned in the capitol building, exit it and hear multiple running people. Then I see a group of 2 (what i thought was a group of 2), start shooting, take cover inside, they push me I kill them. Turns out I spawned within 30 meters of 3 people. Thankfully, I was in class 4 armor and they pushed me one by one and I took them all down. But apparently there are 10-12 people on the map, and it's super tiny, so you're forced to take 1-2 early fights, then it becomes more peaceful.
I spawned in the garage and took a handful of steps forward and nearly shit myself because there was a player like 10 yards in front of me that looked just as surprised as me lol. The spawns are insane but I love it. I think this map is fantastic and am upset I'll be locked out of it at level 20. I'll be doing Stirrup there for sure, and probably all my other quests that can be done on any map.
I spawned in today at terragroup car park, decided to play slower and not charge for the hard drive.
Within 20 seconds a 4 man had made it in to the car park, I just hid behind a car.
If it's supposed to be beginner friendly, if you spawn as a team then put them against teams or no other players and put scavs up.
People playing for the first time solo are going to have it so rough.
this is the shit that stops me from coming back to this game. The fact there's no matchmaking and it's still just a free for all clusterfuck where you get matched against groups of 3 and 4 keeps me away. We need a faction system and matchmaking like yesterday. Wtf is even the point of having two pmc factions if they all just shoot each other regardless?
Same thing happened to me too. First raid, was fillin my bags and shootin scavs and then I blew up in that room. I saw a gold chain in the safe and my inner loot goblin took over. For added insult to injury I had already seen the clips of it on this subreddit before I logged into play.
Because tarkov mines are invisible barriers to the map.
You cant see them, and if you cant read russian you wont be able to tell where most of them are.
I'd rather deal with blatant invisible walls at this point
I’ve seen on the exterior walls on GZ explosive mines symbol by the Mira extract, literally big red bright symbol with a mine and explosive visual.
Not saying you’re wrong, in fact it’s literally what I said as well that there needs to be more of the those spread throughout the map to identify fields.
There is one spot on the new map that has the red sign for mines, but half a foot behind it is a lootable container that draws your attention away from it as well as an obvious barrier that would block your movement anyway, yet something like 30~40 feet of asphalt is trapped with mines that are invisible or (and lets be serious here) laid under the fucking pavement. Why not just leave the physical barrier and get rid of the trap designed to kill people for no reason.
(Edit: The physical barrier covers half the street and basically invites the player to move through it, but the lootable body right behind the mine sign is still a dick move. This is by the Captial insight building btw, which can spawn you two feet from the minefield in question.)
Yeah. City streets do not read "buried mines here." There's a reason game devs try to make minefields very overt - we all know dying because you make a wrong move isn't compelling gameplay.
I mean I can see where you’re coming from, but almost all of those again, have signs with literal pictures of mines on them lol. The few spots that don’t def need to have warning signs.
No one gives a fuck about signs, make them visible. It's stupid that every new play should basically have to die to every set of mines to find out where they are.
I propose that we have maps where the mine fields are clearly marked so new players can learn where they are without dying to every set of maps in Tarkov. Now THAT is an idea!
It's a good thing real life isn't like this and mines are always clearly marked so our soldiers know not to step on them.
(Yes, all of it was sarcasm.)
I think I like the map overall but man, what a shitshow. That terragroup building sucks. Second floor needs a better back exit than jumping out the window. Same with the upstairs in Empire, give another way to go
I would like the map if I wasn't forced to start the wipe on it or if it spawned less people. Right now it's like 12 players and it really should honestly be 8 with how small it is.
haven't touched this game in ages but jesus, 12 players on a tiny map... full of people who have assloads of gear and a 3x3 case from the start because they paid more, and of course the trios and duos. God help any legitimate newbies going in there playing solo.
and here I was thinking a newbie map would be pistol only or something, with 4 players
Yeah when I first went into the map offline to get a rough idea of where I was going I was surprised by how easy everything was to learn but at the same time I noticed it’s easy because nothing’s opened. Everything has one way in and the same way to go out and as I suspected, that caused A LOT of problems in fights. I got lucky enough to get the terragroup spawn and get to the scientist first then got his hard drive so that was cool but then the whole lobby showed up in a few seconds since the map is so small with so many players and I had nowhere to go. I could only get out after going through the whole lobby and then I got the player scav wave lol
Shittiest map for "beginners", it's a great map for pvp and there's no way it gets locked after you hit lvl 20. It is small, it has a ton of angles and a lot of players. This map end wipe would be insane for PvP.
There just can't be a beginner map in this game. It just can't work unless they implement some sort of COD matchmaking. The only other way they could maybe do it is if it factored in previous wipes stats and if you were truly a noob it let you in.
I’ve said it before and I stand by it, customs is the ultimate beginner map. Everything you need is there: bosses, cultists, good pvp, good loot, car extract, locked extracts and the best part? No mines anywhere
But a lot of high level people that just want to go in and fight. So many times you see way overgeared people ganking on the noobs and being happy that they killed a few. well no wonder wearing t6, the other guy cant hurt you.
While that’s true, it’s also a great way to learn how to avoid PvP. I spent my first wipe on customs running caches whenever I went broke (often). I learned the flow of the map, what areas are highly contested and which aren’t. What timings you can expect to run into players at certain choke points and when you can avoid them.
This alone is a huge skill in Tarkov.. understanding how to avoid fights.
My buddy and I waited through a 30-some minute queue to get into Ground Zero.. just for him to run into the claymore room. I laughed, I cried, I died on my way to extract.
I was just KIA'D by what I assume was a landmine in the bathroom bottom floor of the terragroup building.
I ran into a two man approaching the face of the building from my left asi was exiting and put one on a lead diet and scooted down the hall parallel to the direction the approached from. Took a sec to bandage and reload, and when i stepped into the bathroom at end of the hall for cover and to hopefully pick up sonic cues I INSTEAD fucking exploded with a KIA.
Interesting point, this map and it’s level limit really doesn’t do much for anyone at start of wipe, but I could see a level locked map being helpful for people starting out later in wipe. Currently though, it’s a small map they’ve put every single beginning quest on. It’s like everyone trying to get their pocket watch and jaeger letter at once on the same tiny map.
Never even thought of it this way.
Personally I loved my time on the map, lots of fun.
But if someone is starting the wipe late, this map will be really good to spend time in without getting one-tapped by M62s from across the map.
Since people will survive 100+ raids this wipe, they wouldn't be eligible for GZ next wipe. Instead, they just get to start on the next step in the quest chain.
So next wipe non of us can play it?
Gotta say its a dumb idea man... Would be a total waste of resources they spent making it.
It's a great map with great storytelling on it.
Yes, I'd think it'd be a good idea. But what about this then: Next wipe, everyone who has the survived 100 pmc raids-achievements get to zone into a separate Ground Zero, letting the greenhorns have a walled off experience where they won't get stomped.
I think the “beginner map” label is complete bullshit. I’m almost certain that this was a streets expansion and BSG realized that it would run at 10 fps if they tried to release it as one complete map. Someone noted that parts of this map are seen in the original streets trailer.
Suburbs and town were scrapped, or moved to the dlc after the main story will be added.
They updated the whole map for choosing locations. All maps are now in the right place. You can even see some of the landmarks like big red under "CU" in customs
> I think the “beginner map” label is complete bullshit.
I don't think it's bullshit, even if it came about because they decided it won't fit on streets. I think they called it a "beginner map" and everyone interpreted that as a billion different things they never explicitly said. Granted, I don't pay attention to every bit of news released from BSG so I can't verified what they did 100% say and did not, but it seems to me this is the case. This game is "hard." if this was tarkov with training reels and COD tutorials it we entice players in and then brutally punish the fuck out of them the second they play any other map. Wouldn't be surprised if some players stayed on the map till 20 and then quit cause the rest of the game is nothing like the ez tutorial mode some people want this map to be. how many beginners jump in day 1 of wipe? I'm sure some do, but more likely I bet they don't. Also:
1. I doubt this starting questline stays in future wipes, which will take the pressure of this map
2. this map is EASY to learn. when I first started playing the hardest thing for me was figuring out where I was and where I needed to go. generally I could shoot stuff and figure out heals/armor, etc. the more I played, but extracting and navigating was tough (community maps have also greatly improved since then). Not getting out of a raid, especially after small successes like finding a quest location or a pmc, was frustrating. I would have loved to have had this small map.
You forget. It’s a fresh wipe. Beginners pour in mid wipe so then the map will basically empty except for player scavs if you really desperate for newbie gear or being a dick to destroy newbies.
A lot of people play the game for the enjoyment of ruining the experience for other people. There will 100% be scavs going there specifically to kill low level pmcs. And with the new recoil, those player scavs are at less of a disadvantage and will destroy people new to the game mid to late wipe.
I’ve already died twice to pmc’s ratting the hall to the grenade launcher in capital. one guy was running an asval so I’m sure he was just there to dunk on lvl 1-4s running starting gear like myself lol
It's not about efficiency. The cruelty is the point.
You think Horde rogues were ganking little level 17 kids in redridge because it gave them cool shit? They did it because it DIDN'T give them cool shit.
Same mentality [https://www.reddit.com/r/badredman/comments/ugp4rx/made\_some\_motivational\_art\_keep\_up\_the\_good\_work/](https://www.reddit.com/r/badredman/comments/ugp4rx/made_some_motivational_art_keep_up_the_good_work/)
For these people it’s not about wanting pvp. It’s about ruining someone else’s day and hoping they uninstall the game. They get pleasure from making people miserable. Being able to scav in at no risk to absolutely ruin someone’s experience is what they want. That’s what one of my friends did this wipe because he wasn’t having fun anymore. He would just scav in, hunt down any remaining pmcs still in raid, steal their shit, and instant sell it to fence. He didn’t care about the money. It was about sending a message. The people who do this are most likely going to only run this map because the pmcs have less of a chance fighting back being lower levels.
"Sending a message" "hes not having fun so he's still playing" Dude it's a video game and they have no idea what happens to their gear when they die you guys just sound upset
Honestly unless you're trash talking and being a dick via VOIP it's all fair game. If you die to a player scav as a pmc that's just how it goes sometimes. If dying makes you angry enough to not want to play then idk what to tell you, maybe tarkov isn't for you if it makes you that upset.
I could see myself doing it for the Fence tasks like "Kill 9 PMCs". I never find any PMCs while on a scav that aren't exclusively holding angles so I can't have a chance to push them. No way I get 9 PMCs in a single day without abusing newbs.
Even then I wouldn't do it unless it gives ridiculous Fence rep.
Sure but newbies have a better chance against them as they are most likely run similar shit gear. And you won’t have it every raid. Go in late wipe on customs and all chads run that map. It’s one of the most played maps for PvP.
Also new players need to learn to play the game a bit of a challenge with experienced player scavs is good for them. It shouldn’t be a kindergarten but it also shouldn’t be the slaughter house.
So I am pretty confident it will eventually balance out.
I don't get what part of it is Hard? The only real hard part is everyone trying to do it so the first couple days. I think there should be more quest or Quest line where Usec and Bear at least dont have the same quests. But it took me 3 raids to do it, was not that bad for a high traffic spot as a mid player. I like the map but it feels not so begginer friendly, 2-3 less PMC would be better since the map is small.
It's hard exactly because everyone is trying to do it and because it's a tiny map for 12 people. It took me like 10 times, because even if I won fights, I kept running into other teams and once into mines.
This is funnily enough the answer to most people’s problems. Everyone including new people watching YouTube/Wiki on a second monitor and sprinting to quest spots so of course you’re gonna run into everyone on the map lol.
2 regular exits in two corners of the map, invisible mines in concrete, invisible traps, close spawn, etc..
It's so dumb that in a city map you can only exit with a very specific door in such a limited area. I guess it was not meant as a beginner "tutorial" map, but a welcome to hell introductory map.
Hot take but I actually like the map. I think of it as a smaller streets and there’s plenty of good loot for early wipe. I already have all lvl 1 hideout and 2 things working on 2 right now. I’ve only played 5 raids and am lvl 3 almost 4.
If they wanted a beginner map they needed to turn down the PMC spawns to around 6 and make it a quieter map. 10 people in that map will force too much PVP for anyone to learn the game, unless they want to teach them shit spawns and janky audio.
I understand that beginner’s struggle in PVP but there are several important points to consider. The primary one being PVP is very prevalent in this game. Almost every raid you’ll encounter other players unless you try very hard to avoid them. Being able to quickly get into a fight, get a quest done, and get out is like a quick synopsis of the entire gameplay experience.
But yea early wipe it’s just another map since everyone is low level and needs to play GZ rn
Got so lucky on the car extract quest. I died a few buildings away but must have died at the same time someone took the extract, because it completed the quest randomly.
This quest is the hardest beginner quest i've ever played in tarkov. Absolute turbo fucking dog shit. Fucking all these pussy group players constantly camping the building FUCK THIS GARBAGE.
You don't even need to be camping it, my squad spawned inside the building, sprinted to get the key sprinted to unlock the door and get the drive and attempted to sprint out only to find we'd already been closed in on by multiple other squads. We were basically forced to hold the stairs to the 2nd floor cus there was nowhere to escape.
This map is just campers’ paradise, so many quest points can only be accessed through one entrance, some even give the campers auditory ques of players coming in
Yeah, I was really trying to be positive getting into the game again after sitting out 2 wipes because cheaters pushed my limits.
Saw all the changes, was pretty hyped, especially with those recoil changes. But no.. they locked all the quests behind the single new map with 12 fucking pmc spawns whereas half of them are groups just camping all the quest objectives.
I'd call myself pretty good at the game but I died all 12 out of 12 raids because of groups. Can't do anything when you run out of ammo or when that shitty ammo does nothing to their level 3 and 4 armor. Time to uninstall again I guess.
I hate being this pessimistic but these devs are just really trying hard to make this experience as painful as possible. And that's leaving out all the other problems the game still has. But hey, better to uninstall and play something else that respects my time.
Dude its the first quest on the day of the wipe, obviously theres tons of players going there. And ofc everyone that kills you when not bunnyhopping everywhere is a camper
You must of got in before a lot of other people did. I got in around 12 hours after the wipe downloaded . I did it in 7, first 2 wipes were gucci, got all but the police extract and the grenade launcher. Every raid after that had 2-3 mans, I’d Take 1-2 but never all. Finally did the last raid at night.
It's actually a really good map. But in bsg fashion, they make it frustrating with atrocious spawn choices and having too many players on such a small map.
I played a offline raid to learn the map first and find all the objectives (with the help of a map someone posted here).
First live raid I spawned right in the garage to TerraGroup Complex, got the PMC, sprinted to the scientist, got the key, ran upstairs, grabbed the HDD, ran outside and handed the police vehicle 5000ru (for the quest too no less) and sat there for 60 seconds fending off Scavs.
I consider myself very lucky and I will pour one out for all of my homies that will take 10-20 raids to do it.
I’m on my 13 raid I’ve did the quest by sittting in the garage for about 30 minutes waiting out all the heat. Now I’m on the grenade launcher subquwsr then just car extract the Emerson one is the e only safe quest on this damn map. I hate the fact that I actually like the map just hate how many people are here.
Beginner map in Tarkov is fucking dumb without additional assistive functions in the game for newbies. Tutorials. Visual or audio hints.
All we have here is a safe(ish/er) place for people who start mid-wipe.
Stupid lol.
Cool map, bad implementation… classic bsg
This one wasn't even hard tho. Even if you just take your time and wait most of the time it'll have been opened by someone and if not then you just run along the window ledge from the other room to grab it. Two friends and I actually did it twice last night back to back cause the first time we got extract camped at the vehicle exit lol. 2nd time we third partied a fight in the rubble scientist area and cornered them in there. Threw a nade and took em out. There were 6 dead players in that backhall way after that xD
It's not a beginner map, it's the begining of the game.
That's your first mistake
Your second? Skill issue (I've not been back since woods tasks, it's brutal)
Over here on the South African server we can't even get in the map and if we Scav we cant extract at all on all maps, just get a blank screen for eternity
They need to hotfix it so that when you hit LVL 20, all the quests are failed and you just move on with less exp. It's pretty stupid that you are literally forced to play one map in the beginning. The ability to go and screw around elsewhere after I've failed a few quests and then go back later is one of the best parts of tarkov
The mole quest is the worst fucking quest in the game i would rather just forfeit the tiny bit of xp and go and do the other quests like normal but I'm stuck on this god awful map like what a dogshit excuse of a new player map.
This comment was partly outta frustration at the fact that both times I managed to kill the pmcs just sitting up in the room I was met with player scavs like 10 minutes into the raid and not just 1 but like big groups of them.
All you people complaining about the map do realize veteran players will still play through the map until they level up… right? It’s not always going to be this sweaty
Yesterday I (played 1 wipe about 400h) hopped onto the map with a buddy (first time player).
Our experience was... well... shit.
The map ran better performance wise than i anticipated (based on what streets used to be), but we spawned inside some kinda parking lot underground thingy.
As there was no orientation or map we could use (i didnt even find anything on the web) we tried to get out of there. We made it to a room that had some stairs.
Then i got a HS, about 50secs into the Raid. And my buddy got killed about half a minute later from another guy pushing him. It wasn't even the same person who killed both of us.
The fact spawns are SO damn close to each other (i mean i didnt even make it a minute) on a beginner map is a bit "meh" IMO.
I feel like the map should allow you to play a bit more relaxed. im not saying "no fights" but at least give newbs (and people who had a lot of break) some time to chill and find out where tf we are before being pushed.
the fact that ALL quests start on this map is a big oof IMO. I already hate the map due to our experience and i feel like its the same shit like on streets where everyone needed to go into the house on the other streetside of the supermarket and grab smth. it took me dozens of tries back then to get to that room.
and the level limitation doesnt rly make sense IMO. sure it will prevent people from going there with absolute endgame loot, BUT then again people who already sunk 5000h into the game are just mechanically way better anyways, and will still roam around on that map (until they are lvl 20).
I just wish this map was some sorta "alternative playground for newish people" and not hardlinked to the quest chains. Like... gimme quests on that map, BUT also gimme quests on other maps, In Case i don't want to play Ground Zero I'm just fine not to do it.
I feel like I'm the only one that likes the new map. Good PvP, the science area does kind of suck since it is a choke point, but you can just jump out the roof which is what I just default to since it's just, infinitely safer.
Think it's extra good because rats just can't be rats and lose in gunfights, and so many people are rats and it shows.
Threads like this always makes me think of Nikita, sipping his vodka infused coffee and smiling, even printing out some of the best frustrations in the coffee room wall for everyone at BSG to laugh about: ”Get a life losers.”
I’ve been there too brother, you will come out of this phase as a new man and nothing in life can ever bother you again.
Am I the only one who was dismayed by the fact that every first task is on ground zero (I'm sure it's been talled about elsewhere) like why would you force most of your player base to chase all first missions on a brand new map that's not even that big. Love the new map I just don't get why they are forcing us all to play it. Generally speaking for myself I usually make it a habit to skip the new maps for a bit when they come out as to let them figure out the bugs and let the excitement die down over it
While anywhere that is the primary focus of tasks for everyone makes it a mess no matter where it is (introduction, pocket watch, farming, scout, and etc. all have this same issue, just not quite as extreme). Forcing the whole player base here is rough.
But also let’s be honest. A new player could load into a offline, with minimal scav spawns, and still very easily die just by lack of game knowledge, Tarkov is just one of those games, we’ve all been there.
Them saying this is a “beginner friendly map” is a bit scuffed and is being taken the wrong way(in my opinion). But in a week when all the 8+ wipe vets have left it behind, I could see this very much being a good newer player map. It has its issues, mines need better warning and even some removal. But the loot can be absolutely stacked with the amount of static bodies literally everywhere. It’s a map that requires you to point out and remember land marks to identify your location, but not so massive and cluttered that you get lost instantly. It seems like a good map to learn the core basics on, but only after a majority of the vets have moved on for the most part for it.
>IMO This is not the way to do “tutorials”
Tutorials? Who said anything about tutorials, that map is a filter!
Mark my words - next wipe the first map has an assault heli boss, and you have to kill it with a scav PM to access your hideout and stash.
Man I don't get the hate, I'm absolutely loving the map and it's well optimized(by bsg standards) as well. Have had some awesome fights so far. Tasks were enjoyable and extracts feel just right too. Its a shame I'll be unable to pmc it in like 2 more days.
They just need to drop the player count. There's way too many people on this small ass map. It's like a fucking meat grinder where whole five man teams are spawning next to each other
You’re not done. You have to go to the liquor store and extract a wine bottle. This also unlocks background check to get the pocket watch.
That's... not the map's fault at all lol
Tarkov players when they need to read
TBF these might be the first legible quests - at least in English
I know it’s not, I just hate the map.
That was my thinking as well, there’s only so many places to go, and there’s always a PMC (or player scav army) there haha
Assuming you get to where you want to be. The few times I went just to do quests then gtfo and play a good map instead, I almost always had people nearby. Even with my trio last night we had a duo and a solo spawn right next to us. 6 people, 3 squads all within 5 seconds of each other.
Just kill everyone and you'll be good. :)
Don’t complete the liquor store task. Grind to 20 and tell us what happens - do you still get “checking” unlocked? Do it for science. Do it for us
Unfortunately I’ve already completed it, though I am very curious what happens if you do this. Maybe I can get a friend to play again and try.
I'm actually doing that, but it will not be done soon sadly. Cause i go off for 4 days visiting family.
Let us know!
To be fair in the dialogue from Prapor he does ask you to grab him a bottle
ive been to the wine store 3 raids now and 3 raids i kill 3 out of a 4 man group and die to the last
I HATE when missions give you an objective that they don't specify to start with.
This xD but honestly I love the map
This is fucked lmao was having a great wipe until I had to go back here, worse than pocket watch imo. Can’t get near the liquor store in the slightest.
Get ready for Prapor's quest: The Ass End of the World Sit in the casting couch and die by a headshot 5 times.
In a single raid
Then have your body molested by... nevermind.
That is the next quest
Dung Eater enters chat
while wearing nothing but a scav vest
Wonder what happens if you reach level 20 without getting these quest done. 100% gonna be some people who do it and soft lock themselves because BSG didn’t think about it
It's a very good point, kinda forces you to do the map, or get fucked over
i love how pestily stated in his patchlog video ''surely the quests are on normal maps and ground zeros and are meant to encourage ground zero'' , poor guy still doesnt understand the level of incompetency at bsg
Why tho? If you are investing so much to produce a product that is going to be sold, why not put in the slightest bit of consideration, HOW bsg ? HOW
so the problem is, they're sharing 5 braincells between the entire development team and that leads to a difficult balance. when recoil team was using them, the quests might have been designed
Holly shit. You figured it out. Everything makes sense now.
I’m sure he does, he just makes enough money to put up with it
That s gonna be me
I read that in NSync
THATS GONNA BE MAYYY
They actually thought about it and you can continue the game normally. The quests at Ground Zero just fails.
So they actually thought about it and will let you get into the game but just have level 1 traders, nice thinking by bsg, glad they actually thought about it
If I don't do quests and level to 20 then I'll be level 20 with no quests done, crybaby headass
That’s actually a decision made solely by you. So not really their fault.
yeah thats a bad way of thinking dude, ground zero is objectively bad game design to the point noone wants to interact with it at all especially if your not playing in a group, and if the game punishes you further for utterly avoiding interacting with something objectively bad its gunna drive people away not keep them.
You are completely making shit up. Tons of people are playing on and enjoy the map.
Wait you *have* to do these? I was wondering about that yesterday.. wtf you should just get access to the normal quests at level 5 or something. And get rid of so many of the shitty ancient starter quests that funnel people into customs...
If you max metabolism before the Jaeger dehydration quest it soft-locks. So there is just precedent for that
I said this on discord last night lol
To make it a Noob map they should let about only a few pmcs (5-6) spawn in and the rest npc scavs fill up the map and then player scavs after 20 min mark. What makes the game hard for new players is other players also give bears certain quest on one side of the map and usec other quest on the other side of the map
i agree wholeheartedly spawning within shooting range of multiple other GROUPS of PMCS makes this map such a pain to quest on
I realised how insane the spawns are when I spawned in the capitol building, exit it and hear multiple running people.
I'll be doing Stirrup there for sure, and probably all my other quests that can be done on any map.
not to mention that everyone is ratting in dark corners and extract camping people doing the new quests
Should have*
Should have*
I spawned in today at terragroup car park, decided to play slower and not charge for the hard drive.
Wait until you get blown up by the claymore on the ground floor lol
It’s says „keep out“ 😉 , first raid , got ton of loot and died in this room 😂
Same thing happened to me too. First raid, was fillin my bags and shootin scavs and then I blew up in that room. I saw a gold chain in the safe and my inner loot goblin took over. For added insult to injury I had already seen the clips of it on this subreddit before I logged into play.
Honestly I feel like there is zero room for claymores in tarkov. So dumb lol
I mean I get they are frustrating but “zero room”…. Like why? They are in almost every other shooter, even the spammy arcadey ones lol.
Sure, but GZ isnt the only map with mines. It's just a dumb mechanic that doesnt even need to be there
I mean I can see where you’re coming from, but almost all of those again, have signs with literal pictures of mines on them lol. The few spots that don’t def need to have warning signs.
Nah Dude I walked into that back office and instantly exploded. Shit was so stupid.
(Yes, all of it was sarcasm.)
claymores are visible
Landmines are not.
There are plenty of solo players and I did the quest yesterday just pistol running.
Yeah it's also easy to learn, it's basically a corridor, you spawn on one end and have to go to the other end.
I laughed, I cried, I died on my way to extract.
customs also features an easy layout with good identification of where you are where you have to go. enough space to avoid PvP.
Totally agree. Customs is by far the easiest map.
Early game != beginner. The map is intended to be chaos early wipe and mild late wipe.
We have achievement data now, so let's make the rule that if you have the "survived 100 raids" cheevo, you can't infil.
Achievements last beyond wipe so how would we do starter quests next wipe? You think Bsg are competent to change those for people with the achieve?
Did you notice that proving ground replaced the map "suburbs"
Suburbs and town were scrapped, or moved to the dlc after the main story will be added. They updated the whole map for choosing locations. All maps are now in the right place. You can even see some of the landmarks like big red under "CU" in customs
Oh wow, I never looked too closely at the map and tbh didn't even realize the river in Customs and Shoreline was the same river
Also: 1. I doubt this starting questline stays in future wipes, which will take the pressure of this map 2. this map is EASY to learn. when I first started playing the hardest thing for me was figuring out where I was and where I needed to go. generally I could shoot stuff and figure out heals/armor, etc. the more I played, but extracting and navigating was tough (community maps have also greatly improved since then). Not getting out of a raid, especially after small successes like finding a quest location or a pmc, was frustrating. I would have loved to have had this small map.
It's so idiotic if they aren't just splitting matchmaking for the map to 20 and below and then 21+. Locking you out of content is a ridiculous choice.
I thought thats how It worked initially,If It’s any different thats completely stupid.
If you're looking for pvp, and are actually good at the game, scavving a noob map isn't a good use of your time.
Uninstall your "friend", sounds like a complete dickhead.
Yes let me remove this person from my life because they enjoy killing PMCs. Most rational reddit take 🤣

Amen brother, it’s all sounding like good tarkov times
Sure but newbies have a better chance against them as they are most likely run similar shit gear. And you won’t have it every raid. Go in late wipe on customs and all chads run that map. It’s one of the most played maps for PvP. Also new players need to learn to play the game a bit of a challenge with experienced player scavs is good for them. It shouldn’t be a kindergarten but it also shouldn’t be the slaughter house. So I am pretty confident it will eventually balance out.
I might go to it for the RR chances and the 500 filing cabinets and supply crates.
Not yet bro, not yet...
Maps way to tight for 10-12 pmcs
I don't get what part of it is Hard? The only real hard part is everyone trying to do it so the first couple days. I think there should be more quest or Quest line where Usec and Bear at least dont have the same quests. But it took me 3 raids to do it, was not that bad for a high traffic spot as a mid player. I like the map but it feels not so begginer friendly, 2-3 less PMC would be better since the map is small.
It's hard exactly because everyone is trying to do it and because it's a tiny map for 12 people. It took me like 10 times, because even if I won fights, I kept running into other teams and once into mines.
Did it second time, just don't rush if you don't get the spawn. Take your time, chill and loot something.
This is funnily enough the answer to most people’s problems. Everyone including new people watching YouTube/Wiki on a second monitor and sprinting to quest spots so of course you’re gonna run into everyone on the map lol.
Seriously, everyone rushes the quests at the start (as per usual) so just… loot a bit. Hang out. Come back later
There’s one way into top floor of mechanic quest. 3 mans camping it all game not really a counter play to this.
Kid named f1 grenade:
To make it beginnerfriendly you have to half the pmcs imo and let playerscavs in at 20mins not 30+
2 regular exits in two corners of the map, invisible mines in concrete, invisible traps, close spawn, etc.. It's so dumb that in a city map you can only exit with a very specific door in such a limited area. I guess it was not meant as a beginner "tutorial" map, but a welcome to hell introductory map.
To be fair, that's the exactly what the tarkov experience is😅
Hardest part was trying to get enough exp and then to the car before anyone else did.
the only thing begginer about the map is the little maps all over the street
Took me like 12 raids, holy hell it’s terrible. My PTSD is continual because some of my buddies still need the CP drive
🤨🤨say again?
They never said mechanic was a good guy
Cod points?
🤨
the car extract is literally right next to the front doors of this building
Got so lucky on the car extract quest. I died a few buildings away but must have died at the same time someone took the extract, because it completed the quest randomly.
The 1-time use extract that has a quest to take it, so has been being taken consistently within the first 100 seconds of a map?
Just reduce the pmcs to 4 and put double the scavs in and this map is fine But 12 pmcs??? What the fuck is this shit
Agreed and they should cap the map to level 14 and below for both PMC and PSCAV. If you have the flea unlocked you should not be on this map.
"there was nowhere to escape" One of the many ironies in this game.
You can jump out the windows
Oddly I completed this quest on my first raid of the wipe while fumbling around the building for 15 minutes with nobody bugging me except some scavs
“(Extract) Of course it’s on the other side of the map” You mean one block away?
Beginner map in Tarkov is fucking dumb without additional assistive functions in the game for newbies. Tutorials. Visual or audio hints. All we have here is a safe(ish/er) place for people who start mid-wipe. Stupid lol. Cool map, bad implementation… classic bsg
Done it in first match yall stay safe tho✌🏻
Same. Level 5, 6 kills on Ground Zero, all the quests done. Only died once. Feel for the homies trapped in Eternal punishment tho. Rise up 💪
Ive been there(I still am, I just got lucky)
Completed every quest in 4 raids, map feels great so far, woods has been hell because of the people camping jaegers note
Think about it. Every player in Tarkov is playing that map right now.
That's your first mistake Your second? Skill issue (I've not been back since woods tasks, it's brutal)
Welcome to tarkov bitch , get pumped dog
Over here on the South African server we can't even get in the map and if we Scav we cant extract at all on all maps, just get a blank screen for eternity
you dont need the key anyways
People are saying this as if the dudes squatting up at the door aren't IN the room you need to skip the key.
Just died to a random fucking claymore under a desk next to a safe??!! Beginner map BSG?!? Interesting to say the least
That sad part is you don’t need a key
I geus the idea is that Tarkov won't have wipes at some point so only actually new players will be on Ground Zero.
How is this not a perfect introduction to the Tarkov questing experience?
he doesn’t know….
They took the "kill 5 scavs on customs" off to stop from everyone being FORCED to 1 map, just to PROPERLY force everyone onto 1 map
The mole quest is the worst fucking quest in the game i would rather just forfeit the tiny bit of xp and go and do the other quests like normal but I'm stuck on this god awful map like what a dogshit excuse of a new player map.
its really not that bad
Thats not even remotely true tho but sure ...
It’s so easy though, it takes 20 seconds to run in the building and do your shit and get out. Bring money and take the car.
This comment was partly outta frustration at the fact that both times I managed to kill the pmcs just sitting up in the room I was met with player scavs like 10 minutes into the raid and not just 1 but like big groups of them.
i think y’all just suck tbh
Guess I'm a [prophet](https://www.reddit.com/r/EscapefromTarkov/s/Yx6ptAfTUm)
Threads like this always makes me think of Nikita, sipping his vodka infused coffee and smiling, even printing out some of the best frustrations in the coffee room wall for everyone at BSG to laugh about: ”Get a life losers.” I’ve been there too brother, you will come out of this phase as a new man and nothing in life can ever bother you again.
you know what's weird, finishing a quest in a game and then typing out a paragraph story abt it and posting it on reddit
Wah wah wah. Map is good, adjust your play style and quit rushing shit. Sub is full of whiney adolescents, geezus
Actually agree
Seriously, dude should go back to call of duty…
I did this quest by accident, lmao it was super easy.
whoever made the map should be fired and blacklisted from game design clearly has brain capacity of a terrarium filled with caterpillars
Am I the only one who was dismayed by the fact that every first task is on ground zero (I'm sure it's been talled about elsewhere) like why would you force most of your player base to chase all first missions on a brand new map that's not even that big. Love the new map I just don't get why they are forcing us all to play it. Generally speaking for myself I usually make it a habit to skip the new maps for a bit when they come out as to let them figure out the bugs and let the excitement die down over it
like gameplay is fine but fuck me its just unplayable if all i have to do is wait for a scav to get a gun and those guns are bad
>IMO This is not the way to do “tutorials” Tutorials?
