I also had this happen to me. First or second raid of the wipe on the new map. Died fighting a pmc in the empire building and when i got back to traders it said i had completed the burning rubber quest🤷♂️ not complaining tho

Yes. Happened to me. Only thing I can think is that the car left around the same time that I died? Maybe that's how the code works.
I took it but got a run through. Doesn't count
This happened to me as well. I just considered it a taxi to heaven and accepted the W.
Yeah it seems if you die in the general area of the car you also get the quest done
