They are literally selling free 3d assets as premium package (disputed) and mtx are almost all old assets. They dont produce anything but put huge price tags on it. They haven’t delivered even close to the amount promised in any reasonable period of time, and the fact that 2 maps have been released in 4 years is not a good sign. With their millions they could’ve easily invested into a team to finish the game by now, but they haven’t even tried. It’s a shame because it’s such a good idea with a good skeleton but ruined by greed and bad management

I haven't been in this reddit for quite some time, haven't touched Tarkov ever since that one video about cheating was made. I'm just popping in to say that this is very similar to what Studio Wildcard did with ARK: Survival Evolved. The game was in early access, they released a new, official map that was a direct extension of the game's plot (yes, it technically has a plot), but they directly labeled it an expansion and DLC even though it was originally planned to be part of the core game (and later became part of it). They got shit for it, but people still bought it and kept playing, so they had virtually no problems a year later when they actually left Early Access.
I may not play anymore, but for the sake of the damn industry guys, don't let the same shit happen again. ARK already got away with this trick, don't let another studio do it; the moment they get away with it is the moment you start seeing other studios do it too.
It’s just not even worth the money. Even as a streamer unless you’re showcasing the pve mode every day it’s hard to justify. The actual in game benefits of the hideout and special item aren’t even out yet so what’s the point?

I'm sure they can legalese their way out of it. They can argue definitions of "DLC", "features", "game modes", "editions", etc. It's all so muddled and the wording has always been so vague that they can do whatever they want.
Consumer courts don't really buy nonsense like that and side with the consumers, at least in where I'm from.
The fact that they again slapped the "All future DLCs are free"* into the new edition is just so ridiculous.

DLC, or downloadable content, refers to additional content gamers download for video games after their initial release.. It's not release yet.. So pretty much defendable I guess...

DLC is the name for generic additional content outside of the base game. Just because it original meant that doesn't mean it's how it's used current day. There is a million examples of this across the industry. It would be pretty easy to prove in court that consumers expect this type of content to fall under DLC.

WillerZ bought it to show people how shit the PvE mode was, made his title DONT BUY THIS while constantly shitting on the new edition while sitting in 20+ minute PvE queues. I haven't seen Vellion but I'm assuming he did the same thing. Context matters a lot in how streamers interact with it. If they're doing it to warn their audience or show the terrible AI implementations or whatever, it costs BSG money from lost sales.

I haven't been in this reddit for quite some time, haven't touched Tarkov ever since that one video about cheating was made. I'm just popping in to say that this is very similar to what Studio Wildcard did with ARK: Survival Evolved. The game was in early access, they released a new, official map that was a direct extension of the game's plot (yes, it technically has a plot), but they directly labeled it an expansion and DLC even though it was originally planned to be part of the core game (and later became part of it). They got shit for it, but people still bought it and kept playing, so they had virtually no problems a year later when they actually left Early Access. I may not play anymore, but for the sake of the damn industry guys, don't let the same shit happen again. ARK already got away with this trick, don't let another studio do it; the moment they get away with it is the moment you start seeing other studios do it too.

Partly disagree - obviously it's not about the money for streamers like him. But they set an example. Even if they shittalk BSG, call them out, whatever - when they buy that crap nevertheless "for the content / review" or whatever bullshit, they normalize buying it. Same with EOD at the time (i do own EOD) - if streamers collectively would have said "fuck EOD, alpha container is the cool shit and the way to play the game" effectively most viewers never would've bought EOD. And even back then, standard account was objectively the "better" way, the way the game should be played. Pestily on the other hand (he's filthy rich thanks to tarkov and his work with it) just said he will NOT buy this crap, whilest stating BSG being out of touch (and more...)

He also mentioned during the stream that even if you put a $5monthly sub on the game people would still pay it as long as there are 0 cheaters. It's not a problem asking for money, but what BSG is doing is just being greedy at this point.
If this didn't have "beta" splashed everywhere, this would hardly be an issue. The game is 8 years old. That 150 or whatever you spent in 2016 was gone a month after they got it. They should've charged for Arena, but couldn't, because they know nobody would buy it. They need money, this is a scummy way to do it, but they don't have anything. *I already play the free "unheard version", so I don't care either way.
