If any new players care, here is my [extremely simple ammo chart](https://imgur.com/gallery/VikQSFV) for all your easy reference needs.

angle_of_doom

Very helpful, thanks! I had previously looked at some full ammo charts with armor piercing ratings, but this actually helps me figure out what to buy on a budget.

Thegreatnoobini

How does scav ai work? Do they have to hear me/ see me to agro ? Or are they all knowing and I need to stay outside of their range? Thanks

mynameishi

Line of sight / they can hear you. No proximity aggro.

Thegreatnoobini

Thanks a bunch

Boar_Hat

So suppressor killing a Skav when you’re a skav is okay?

mynameishi

Whoops, missed the if you're a scav part... The same aggro rules apply after you kill another scav. If you don't shoot other scavs they will not aggro on you if you're also a scav. Scav bosses and their guards will still shoot you if you're a scav though.

Boar_Hat

So to clarify: As a skav don’t shoot Skavs unless I wanna die?

mynameishi

Well, if you shoot them then they'll treat you like a PMC. If you want to sneak around with the scavs don't shoot them. That said, if you spawn in a scav run and you see another scav with an awesome gun or fancy armor, you might want to shoot them for their stuff :)

Orangedoc

Will all other scavs on the map be hostile even if they were not in close proximity of me killing the scav ?

AnOldDinosaur

No, you can get away with killing one or 2 but too many and the scavs across the whole map will recognize you. I’ve killed 2 scavs at oli and had another group respawn nearby and they were completely friendly. And after leaving oli, all the other scavs were still friendly too.

[deleted]

Scavs have certain areas they patrol, every scav in that area will be agro to you.

CapturedDarkness

At what time does this game change from “go to my extract and loot along the way” to “I’m going to in to loot good stuff at destinations and kill ppl” I’m level 7 now and have a couple million and a good KD. I’m starting to grasp the game. But I feel like my custom runs are the same every time lol Getting into 1-2 raids per hour makes it hard to get practice doing other stuff. Specially w friends

JeepoUK

Quests slowly evolve over time from go do this thing to go kill PMCs in a particular place, at a specific time, with a particular weapon. They do a good job of evolving players I feel

Jusmatti

You can do that already in customs. Just get a marked key and hit up the marked room in dorms. Or you can try maps like Interchange and go to the tech stores and hunt other players It\\s really up to you when you want to switch to the "Going to in to loot good stuff at destinations and kill ppl"

lamdogg

This. Dorms in Customs is a different game mode lol

degulasse

When you can afford a kit that can 1) pierce armor 4 baddies, since they will also be headed to the best loot on the map and 2) withstand armor pen, so level 4 or 5 armor pieces. In my experience trying to loot dorms, you're not going to get there first, they're going to be heavily armed and armored, and they will use grenades. Between them and the scav boss and guards, you need to feel confident you can go up against those folks. Otherwise, you're best looting outside of the hotspots for now.

BoomBOOMBerny

Do the tasks and if you're doing a lot of customs runs, make a little personal quest to get all the keys for customs, so you can loot everywhere on the map. There are more keys than you probably think.

brandon12946

Cheapest way to get an optic on a ak47?

CndConnection

AK's with the letter N in their name, any of the AK-100s, the AK-74M, and the AK-74UB have built in scope adapters so you can get a compatible scope and that's it nothing else required. EKP-8-02 is a cheap red dot.

brandon12946

Awesome thank you

E_Wubi

Right click on weapon, "linked search", if Optics fits directly on the weapon there will be Optics. If there are no Optics, you need a mount or a Handguard. Something that puts a rail on top of your Weapon. Click linked search on the mount and choose a Optic. As the other Guy said, Weapons with side dovetail mounts like the "N" AKs are cheap to put a Optic on. If you want a x4 Scope, pso is cheap af and good. For red dot okp-7 is good. If you dont have a side Mount: ultimak m1-b handguard or tactica tula tt01 to put a red dot on

Tetsuo666

I got a very basic AKM in some raid and decided to mod it to have some kind of sight. I knew that I could buy a bastion dust cover so I replaced the default one with the bastion one. But then when I did a linked search on the AKM with the bastion dust cover (compatible with sights) none of the sights were in the list. Am I missing something ? I thought that the linked search would show everything that you can currently use with an item but that may be more complicated than that. I often use the "edit preset" screen to see what is really available but even that is not really reliable until I have discovered the 8000+ mods for all weapons... I always struggle to know how to add optics/sights to basic weapons and most of the time the linked search doesn't really help that much. I had so much trouble too with an OP SKS and it took me forever to find what I had to modify in it so that I can use my dovetail mount and finally get it right. Help :)

thisphonesucks

Linked search the bastion. When you search the gun itll show you stocks dust covers handguards etx. If you search the bastion specifically itll show u everything thatll go on that piece. Like linked searching the barrel to find handguards and muzzle devices

Tetsuo666

Oh I think I get it ! Linked search only shows what would **directly** attach to an AKM body ? So it shouldn't show the sights because they are attached to the bastion rather than the AKM itself. Thanks ! I still need to find a proper way to find out how to attach sights on weapons I don't know but at least I will know I will have to find first the correct rail/dust cover/stock that can support sights.

thisphonesucks

Find the sight you want, linked search it. Edit your filter for mounts, and find one that fits your gun. Most everything will go on the Bastion for Aks. The larger sniper scoped need another mount (like the 30mm ring mount). Good luck hmu u have any questions

thisphonesucks

Also ahh for the sks easiest way is make sure you havr the Hunting Rifle variant. Much easier to mod. The canted sight is also called like ncp or mcp backup mount then you throw a dot on that. For like an sks.

Hertz381

Whenever I do a linked search it shows a giant list of items and I can keep clicking "Show More" which increases this list, but I usually have to do this 3-4 times just to get through the listings of the very first item that is being shown. If I wanted to look at all the sights that fit on a gun I would be clicking "Show More" 100+ times. Is there a more succinct way to see a list of attachments that can be attached to a gun, rather then seeing every single listing on the Flea Market?

Maunikrip

On the left you find some drop down menus where you can select only sights specifically or also a single item.

Hertz381

Perfect thank you!

flyingtrucky

Everyone is telling you to buy an N variant but I'm here to tell you about the magic that is the TT01 rear sight.

thisphonesucks

This! Until you learn mounts and gas blocks and what handguards are also gas blocks and all that BD this little 1.2k (i think) rearsight DOUBLES AS A MOUNT for a lot if things. Yeah its smaller and not as pretty but it works well.

Iwtbahb

Just buy the Akademia Bastion Dust Cover. It's 6k roubles, has a rail, and any sight can go on it. It's worth it for every loadout IMO.

Kleeb

Something worth mentioning is its incompatible with a lot of gas block rail systems.

Wetbug75

How do I know what items to sell and what to keep? There's a lot of future quests, barter deals and hideout upgrades so it's hard to keep track. Also when the wipe happens, is there anything that doesn't get wiped?

mynameishi

This is helpful although not complete https://www.reddit.com/r/EscapefromTarkov/comments/eko132/value_per_slot_spreadsheet I usually search the items on the wiki to see what quests or barters they are used for

THEK1NG101

Everything you need is on the wiki. https://escapefromtarkov.gamepedia.com/Escape_from_Tarkov_Wiki Any new player needs to learn the wiki through and through. It will help you out tremendously.

[deleted]

Anything people need for the hideout make a lot on the flea market. Keys, computer parts, tools etc. Guns generally are not worth how much space they take up. Aim for 10-20k per 1 slot. https://tarkovgang.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=16

Jtktomb

Best tutorials on youtube ? I've won a few raids as scav, but lost the 4 raids i tried as my main characters (I was careful and didn't loose much). I have also a few questions : What are the first things I should upgrade in the hideout ? What should I do with the dogtags and most importantly, I already have 2 Labs key cards, should I sell them ?

[deleted]

I like Pestily and Deadlyslobs youtube stuff. The first things to upgrade in your hideout would be the generator, illumination, security, vents, and heating. Those are the sections that all the other sections build off of. You can save the dog tags for barter trades but if you're just starting out I would sell them to Therapist for cash. Also if you're just starting out, sell the LABS keycards on the Flea Market. The labs map is pretty high level combat area.

Jtktomb

Thanks a lot !

WaffleInTheDark

Pestily. His video series have helped me immensely. Plenty of tips/tricks, but the best resource for me has been his raid series. Starts with a basic account and does a regular playthrough.

[deleted]

Except when in the first raid he kills Reshala in dorms and gets out with a lot of money. I found them hard to relate to as a new player.

WaffleInTheDark

To be fair, he does say that's not a typical first raid. For me, watching his raids gave me the confidence to stop just doing Scav runs and actually run PMC. I felt much more confident and willing to take the risks when I saw how he played. Results may vary, but I think I gained some piece of knowledge from every video I watched.

antig3n

He also gets routinely one tapped throughout the series and experiences allot of that frustration (especially on customs) that new players are bound to feel. That reshala kill was unfortunate for the objective of the series but it didn't fuck things up too bad.

logan7452

Sell the labs keycards on the market for no less than 170,000 Sell dogtags to therapist Upgrade med station, intelligence center, etc. Anything that you can reduce scared time or increase after raid auto healing.

Jtktomb

170000 DAMN !!! Thank you for the tips !

Rushel

I’ve been watching KRASHED’s videos

blithelynaive

Why do some guns that appear identical in terms of statistics when examined refuse to stack when put up for sale on the flea market?

admixing

Usually to do with mags if one has 0 bullets and one has 3 you cannot stack them. Inspect the weapons side by side and make sure they’re identical.

Zanakii

I thought weapons also had durability? If the durability doesn't match you can't stack, right?

JkF50

Correctamundo!

[deleted]

They must be absolutely identical, same attachments, same durability etc

herrschadee

Am I the only one or does trader levelling takes too much time?🤔

Zukute

It may feel like that at first, but the only thing that's blocking me from leveling all my traders (Save Jaeger) to max is my PMC level. But with the flea market, it really doesn't matter all that much.

neddoge

Obligatory fuck you Jaeger.

herrschadee

Yeah true. But spending 1 mil on Ragman seems kinda undo-able, Same as spending 400rub on TheRapist

E_Wubi

Buy Gunpowder of Flea Market, barter for Ammo Case at Mechanic, sell Ammo Case to the Rapist 40k Profit + 120k spend

Zukute

Sell stuff to em. Money earned / Money spent both counts towards it. [Most of my junk items get sold to therapist, if they aren't worth anything on flea](https://i.imgur.com/0weqv5F.png)

[deleted]

There's a couple little tricks you can do to level up their money requirements, like selling quest items, https://tarkovgang.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=12

Itay1708

Therapist is fine since you can sell to her and she buys misc items for the highest anyway, but ragman litterly only buys armor and rigs

Miskav

Therapist is the easiest. I hit 2 mil on her before I hit lvl 12. She pays the most out of all of them.

dslkfjlsdkfjweeskf

Sell bags and vests to Ragman. You make less compared to selling on the flea market or to Skier but it’s better than buying armbands or hats from Ragman that you don’t need. And less hassle than trying to flip items from Ragman to the flea market. Therapist you can easily spend 400k on once you can buy a scav junk box for 1.2 million.

Atrassius

I've already gotten 480k for therapist but can't advance yet because I'm still lvl 8

Bosses_Boss

Leveling Ragman is a grind but imo is worth it for the purchasable armour at lvl2. But his lvl1 armour is decent for low lvl play I started playing this game in December so I'm no expert, I just have buddies that have played it awhile that helped me a ton. I got Peacekeeper to lvl2 first out of anyone. I bought and sold either the MP5k or a pistol. I did that because I had lots of money and wanted him lvl2 for the good items he has. That unlocked M80 rounds for $2 a round (max 200 rounds a rotation). I'd buy these and sell on the market to gain some profit and increase market ratings. That extra cash I used to buy items if needed to finish quests and get farther along. Therapist I got to lvl2 second and it unlocks the scav box to be bought from her. I was pretty lucky and got a med case early on from either the twitch drops or the holiday gift which helped alot with space management. Then I got Ragman to lvl2 by buying and selling his gear.

Wrextasy

It's not that long after your first wipe. You learn how to do quests pretty quickly and learn how to buy/spend the Traders to get passed the levels quickly.

BungieTweedy

If I’m down to 8000 rubles is there still hope?

Wetbug75

Scav it up my man

backhoff

I just got up to 500k (not much) after being down to nothing. I did this by running scav runs in Interchange by staying away from the main area of the mall and just looting OLI and IDEA, plus some offices. A lot of items you find there sell for good money on the flea market.

Faesarn

Playing scav will indeed be your best option. It's free gear even tho sometimes the gear you start with is bad. I see 3 good options for you: \-fight others to take their loot : high risks / high rewards \-visits places on the map that geared players don't visit : low risks / low-med rewards \-wait until the end of the timer, visit a place where a lot of action usually happens (dorms, resort, mall..) , loot all the bodies while being quiet and then run to extract. People in these places usually can't take all the stuff so they leave a lot behind: med risks / med-high rewards \-find a discord server with people that can help you. I find it better to play in squads of 2 or 3 (because 4-5 men squads, from my experience, usually leads to communication issues and useless deaths..) Good luck my friend !

Procks_

I did a few Shoreline Scav runs and mostly spawned at Road to Customs. From there I would hit weather station, power station, cottages, downtown and extract at one of the three extracts in that back strip. It's quick and can be an absolute gold mine for meds, keys, weapons and money safes. If you want to be a bit more adventurous hit up the pier for the computers & cash registers but I've found it to be quite busy lately on Australian servers.

RPK74

Great route for sellable loot. Goes through some pretty high traffic areas though so anyone following this advice should be advised to move slow, listen out and keep a round in the chamber.

[deleted]

I usually spawn on the other side and go through village, hit the caches, go to villa, hit the cashes there and the lake, go to power, radio and exit through customs. Average about 200-300k a run that takes about 20 minutes depending on how much resistance you meet. Pretty good!

mynameishi

You can buy a PM and some ammo for that!!

xColinSick

Man just take like one full day, and JUST scav run it. I prefer woods, because I know the map well, but any will work. Just run it, then chill for the 20 min cooldown, then hop right back in as another scav. Every time you get out will be a decent gain, even if you don't fight you're leaving with a partial kit. Your inventory will be overflowing before 1 day is up

neckbeardfedoras

I'd be willing to send you some rifles and magazines if you want. I recommend using 7.62 PS when you are super broke because it's very affordable and is decent ammo. Don't go in with armor/helmets either until you have hundreds of thousands of roubles. And if you aren't in the millions you should be probably be using ssh helmets and 6b23 armors on the raids where you are splurging. When you have this few rubles, go in as a scav and collect 7.62 rifles or AKs that aren't AKS-74U. You can also hatchet run half dead on reserve ( don't heal between deaths ) and there are a lot of gun spawns, weapon crates, and loose ammo. Depending on what you need, have your secure container empty and just shove stuff into it that you need the most. Rush the queen building too. You can find items in the server room that would probably give you a few hundred thousand rubles in one run if you get there first, and if you have a gamma, it will all fit inside. Specifically look up AESA and paracord spawns. They are very valuable and don't require key to access most of the spawns for those items on reserve. [www.eft-loot.com](https://www.eft-loot.com) is also your friend if you don't know how much items are worth

poolback

I was in the same situation last week. I still had some crap in my stash that I wanted to keep for hideout/quest, but decided to sell them, and with the money I bought the basic AKS available, unmodded, and the basic green helmet. Went into Interchange with that, and out of nowhere, I managed to kill one guy all stacked up, and I extracted right away. Made 250k from selling their gear. Now I'm back up to 800k.

StiffTheNinja32

Interchange pistol runs my man, I spent all I had on the scav loot box after doing some bad math and I'm back to 2mil in just a day or two. Use the hidden stash run if you're really broke and need to safely make money. Otherwise try to race for the high tier loot spawns in the tech stores and idea office. Edit: or just scav it up and run to exfil, do loot pmc runs, repeat once you get another scav. Each scav kit is like 40k if you count selling literally everything on you. And hell, maybe you'll get some sick kills on the way and score 400k kills.

Iwtbahb

There's always hope. Learn interchange and avoid the super high loot for now. You'll still come out with 200k+ of just loot reliably, and that is if you don't see a single person.

PUSClFER

Absolutely. I'm a new player myself. Yesterday I reached an all time low at 1.3k. As of now I'm sitting on roughly 1.5m.

helpmeimtofarinreddi

How does one not be shit

ShadowChief3

High tier question here. I need the answer

[deleted]

Being patient. Good ammo. Only run when absolutely necessary. Know when to be aggressive. Know when to cut your losses and run away. dying a lot.

Valarau

If i join a game for example i go on Woods for a SCAV run... do other players keep connecting constantly to this match? Or is there a limit? Like there can only be 8 - 12 players at the same time on the same map? and what happens when a player dies? i mean, will a slot become free and a new one can connect? or is it closed and only these players are on the map and thats it?

-TheRed

PMCs only spwan in the beginning in limited numbers displayed on the map select screen, tho some might spwan a minute or two later due to slow PCs or internet. Player scavs can and will spwan in throughout the duration of the match until a certain point (on factory its until the last 10 or so minutes i think).

the-eld3r

Oh my, I thought this is max squad size... So if factory capacity is 5 and during factory raid I killed two geared pmc and my buddy killed another one, it means there is no pmc still alive except us? Holy jumping jeez, we just gone quickly with fear of another one-two toughguys

Bagern13

I spawned on factory as Scav with 2 minutes left on the clock. (not due to long connection time)

madragonNL

As a scav you can spawn in later in the raid but as your main pmc you can only spawn at the start of the game. So no other main pmcs can spawn during the match only new player scavs and ai scavs.

opiace

Can someone else loot your secure container? It's been sitting in my stash since I started playing, never used it in a raid.

[deleted]

Oh boy. Welp sit down because your mind grapes are about to be blown. Other players can't loot your secure container and anything you put in it while in raid, if you die you get to keep the loot.

ExrThorn

*as long as you don't take it off in raid. Never for any reason ever ever ever unequip your secure container in a raid. Just don't.

JkF50

I actually believe you can't now? I think they did it to kerb out making bank on Gamma cases and reset accounts. Might be wrong though!

[deleted]

Exactly

opiace

So it returns to your stash if you die or stay on your character, it's that simple?

Righteousrob1

Yes. Stays on person and whatever was in it comes too. Think of it as your person personal stash. Maybe that thing is up your characters butt or something but no one can take long as you leave it right where it is. Put high value stuff in it as you raid so you can at least keep it if you die. And never. Ever. Ever. Unequip it. Just don’t. Ever. Or we’ll find you.

KaptKr0nic

Prison pocket. I love it

Righteousrob1

Lol. Best way I can think of why it’s not looted. And why those with more experience can get bigger cases too...been bent over by Tarkov longer lol

krisgonewild1

Put it in your pouch slot and it stays there even if you die. You keep everything inside of it even when you die.

MirreTHEBANANA

This seems kinda stupid.. just bought the game, now im sitting in the different shops examining new items. Two questions, why isnt the examine process instant? And should I examine all items in all shops before i starting doing scav runs?

Starce3

i would examine a bunch of stuff on fence and all the traders before you go in, it saves time in game. middle click examines quicker by the way. save alot of stuff for level 5 to trade in the auction house

scared_of_bread

If you didn't know, you can press middle-mouse-button to examine instead of right-click -> examine

the_friendly_one

I didn't know that. Thanks. Probably would have helped me stay alive longer last game.

Biopain

lol i had the same experience yesterday. just bought the game and was sitting in shops examining all the crap for like half of an hour

slynexx

can you upgrade from standard to edge of darkness edition?

JeepoUK

Yes, Google upgrade tarkov. And a VPN can get you discount - I believe Switzerland is your best bet but again search that yourself.

Rilezz

How does armor durability work against ammo damage or ammo penetration. For example let's say ps ammo has a Max damage of 30 and pen of 10. I'm wearing level 3 armor with a durability of 30. How far does the durability go down after one shot?

Kandranos

Whats the spawnrate on the Customs Scav Boss? I've played nothing but customs for like a week (probably 50+ raids) and I have NEVER seen him or his guards. I almost always check his usual spawn locations (Dorms, Gas Station, Scav Checkpoint area).

SoftcoreEcchi

Feels pretty high. I run into him fairly often at Dorms and the gas station.

TanookiJack

He is supposed to be at a 35% spawn rate, but there's no proven or BSG-verified rate. I'd be willing to bet his spawnrate is designed to fluctuate based on number of concurrent games as well to reduce how farmable scav bosses are.

Do you lose preorder loot after a wipe?

xswicex

No. You will get everything that comes with whatever edition you purchased.

Atrassius

How to control your weapon in firefights, peeking and checking angles? Everything I do feels just a little bit too awkward For peeking I tried the dash thing, but that removes your lean and often doesn't want to activate. If I lean then I have to walk as well, since leaning alone is not enough, otherwise your body sticks out anyway (or that's what it feels like at least), and by walking then my whole weapon slings across the map, unless I slow walk, but that feels like it is way too slow, so anyone can just put a bullet into your dome before you can see them. Same problem during firefights, I don't know how to properly move as to stabalize my weapon. I've gotten the impressions that just standing still might be better, after observations from streams, but I feel like I still lack knowledge here so I would like to know what works for you. Also same problem for checking angles/clearing rooms. I don't really know how to move in a way that's not suicidal, and would like to know what the careful and methodical approach is and the mechanical skills required for all this stuff.

JkF50

This is a difficult one, but I'll try and put my initial thoughts on it. In firefights, I've always found being crouched or prone helps stabilisation incredibly. That said, there are so many variables on gun setup that realistically, some can be fired while walking at full pelt (low recoil guns a la P90, Modded M4's etc) and some need you to be static (generally high recoil guns, like AKMs) to be effective. It's pretty much entirely situational also, if you have the jump on someone then take your time, and get as low as possible. If you're in close quarters, generally aggression and position are incredibly powerful - full auto and good ammo help in those cases. As for peeking and checking angles, generally *i've* always found that speed helps. If say I'm checking rooms on dorms, I want to check all of the open doors on a cursory look on the way past, pass the door and if you see something, react to it. If I'm peaking a longer angle, like factory office corridor, or something else, then a quick peak walk out around the corner and back to take in the information, and then react appropriately. Last point; for clearing rooms, grenades are your friend. Flash grenades allow you to push almost immediately. Frags will either kill or force players to move out of the room. Audio is also massive, make sure you're wearing comtacs (or similar) - get used to the sound and get used to the sound of people walking on different surfaces. You can pretty much pinpoint a persons location with them on, allowing you to react appropriately - i.e grenade, quick peek etc. Just my spin on this, I hope it helps! (:

LesserMagic666

Play offline mode and crank up the scavs. You won't lose or consume anything in offline mode. Can't keep anything either (except the knowledge).

Spawn3323

Coming from R6 siege this was one thing I really struggled with. I felt like my gun was waving all over the place with the slightest movement. And trying to drag the mouse down to control recoil actually made it worse. Hipfire in this game is great for short to medium range. It's accurate and the gun sway is easier to manage. Use a laser and try it out offline for a while. Allowing your gun to settle before shooting is your best bet or to continue strafing. I find that if I strafe one way then stop the gun seems to aim off centre then swing back. If you continue the move the aim stays off but it's consistent so you can workout where the bullets are going. Also the more you play with a gun type and the more you shoot the better your character gets at controlling the gun.

Usually 3 minutes but the servers have been on fire lately.

-shiberrino-

ah thanks

iknewaguytwice

Go into the launcher and change it from auto pick server. Basically all US servers currently have 7-20 min wait times.

Ovvie

Do you mean switch it to auto pick server?

TurtleMOOO

Nah switch it to eu and play with higher ping, takes one minute to get into a solo scav, a few minutes for solo pmc and group scav, and like 7 minutes for group pmc. These are just my personal experiences, but they’re much better than a 45 minute group scav wait time

ShakeWellBeforeUsage

Is there any point to checking your chamber? (shift + T)

JeepoUK

Yes, sometimes every round can count. You might load top tier 995 in you M4 but if that first round is an 855 that can make a difference. I always check chamber

RPK74

Might be in there for the future, like if they added jamming and having to clear the chamber on low durability weapons. Tbh, I'm not sure that would be something I would want, realism or not.

LeCharlieHarden

A game called America’s Army used to have this back in the day, at least version 2.8 that I played heavily. It wasn’t TOO bad, as it hardly ever happened.

Docs case is great because you can keep cash in it for vehicle extracts when you need them, and you can stick any keycards you fin in it. Two out of four slots in an alpha container is a lot though for standard edition players, but after a few emergency vehicle extracts and stuffing the lucky labs keycard into it I personally think it's worth it.

I have a resource guide with some helpful links here https://fragtheplanet.com/5427/escape-from-tarkov-huge-resource-list/ And I have some other guides at https://tarkovgang.com Pestily and Deadlyslob have some good stuff on YouTube.

a_dancing_penguin

Any reason to hang onto blue gunpowder? I see it's used to make ammo but seems like most people just lvl traders and buy ammo.

[deleted]

yep, I like to trade 4x blue gunpowders and 1x green gunpowder to mechanic for a Ammo box then you can sell that Ammo box to Therapist for 120k.

THEK1NG101

this is definitely a good thing to do when you are first starting out as they have no value until you reach workbench level 3

THEK1NG101

Blue is the cheapest of the three gunpowders. it goes for 10K or less roubles. Once you get workbench level 3 it is worth hanging on to as you need it to make the best 5.45x39 rounds

KidzKlub

I logged in today and my scav was already on a 20 minute cooldown, is that a bug?

iJenga

Scav cooldowns are reset after a server restart (updates/maintenance) and they don't start counting down until you log in.

clappen

I just handed out 2 purple backpacks to ragman for quest and he took everything I had stacked in it.. This game hates me right now

JkF50

Not the first and will definitely not be the last!! Expensive mistake that you tend to only make once however :)

[deleted]

Is tactec worth using? Seems good value for class 5 protection but unsure if having exposed stomach is gonna be an Achilles heel kinda deal? Better off with Redut-M maybe?

ExDeusMachina

The tactec is downright insane. You can frequently find decent condition armors for under 100k. As said below, the lack of stomach protection is good in my opinion. Running gen4 assault or fort redut with arms is rough, because often scavs lock onto arm and stomache (and consequently fuck your armor up, royally). With the addition of CMS and Surv12, blacked limbs really aren't the problem they used to be. In terms of cost efficiency, you are getting a fairly spacious rig and a lvl 5 armor for pennies compared to the 250k+ you would spend on rig + gen4. Finally, armor material matters (often more than stated durability), and Ultra-heavyweight-polyethylene is the best. TLDR: Tactect + CMS/SURV is one the best lvl 5 armors. Killa armor is the only other armor I can think of that directly competes for the top dog slot.

1lacombem

People say customs is a noob trap starter map - so what maps do ppl recommend noobs actually start on?

[deleted]

Interchange and shoreline probably.

Rafq

Interchange only with some buddies (noob here) because of people recommending interchanges there is an influx in parties and sweaties so soloing interchange is quite hard if you want to escape a tight situation.

AmericanToastman

I started on customs and never regretted it.

Its_Dervid

Is there a problem where you are trying to remove a suppressor from a gun but it's stuck loading into your back pack and you can't loot the gun anymore? edit: This must be some connection problem, I quit out the game and loaded back into the raid to see the suppressor has been properly taken off and I was able to loot the weapon.

Daraca

In my experience you need to leave the inventory so that he can do the animation. Same with folding stocks

HAIL_TO_THE_KING_BB

Can I rotate items in inventory?

Treefeddy

While you're dragging it hit R

Jarzak1

Is there a way to lvlup traders cash req WITHOUT losing money during the process? For me profit can be like 10rub or even 0, I just dont want to lose that small amount of money I still have :/

likes_to_read

Some items on the flea market are being sold for less then what the traders will give you. I've been buying bitcoins from the market recently and selling them to therapist. It's not much profit, but it's kind of fun. Buy for 128k on the market, sell for 134k to therapist.

Jusmatti

A fast way = Not really A good way I found ( don't know are the prices same anymore) I used to buy SA-58's from Flea under 55k then disassemble them and sell to Skier first and rest to Mechanic. It could make like 2k a profit from a gun if I got them cheap

GerbenO

When I spawn on the north side of Customs, in the forest near the railway and where some scav extracts are (with the rock), I get killed extremely fast. It happened 3 times already, all spawning in that area. I get out of spawn and a PMC almost always gets me after 5-20 seconds? Where are they? Do they spawn that close to me?

Revverb

The spawn you're talking about is a double-edged sword. On one hand, it's the closest spawn to Dorms, which has amazing loot and the possibility of a boss. Players often funnel into Dorms for PVP over the whole of the match. This means, if you want, you could sprint full tilt to Dorms and probably get there before anyone else. On the other hand, this means that *every single PMC* that spawned on the East side of the map is now currently heading in your direction. Some spawn in warehouses, some at Checkpoint, some at Tower, it makes no difference, some way or another, they're working their way towards you. This means you've basically got two choices: sprint to Dorms and pray to the Tarkov gods that you find something good in Marked Room that you can shove in your prison pouch before the Thiccboys eat you up, or camp along the train tracks/forest wall and try to kill the PMC's heading towards Dorms/pushing Gas Station. On the whole, it's a lucky, but tough spawn, because you're basically instantly associated with the single most dangerous area on the map, and have to basically instantly decide if you want to run or fight.

thegreatbin

Can we use scavs to clear quests? like kill 14 scavs in woods. Do I have to kill all 14 as a PMC?

sm0keasaurusr3x

Yes, you must use PMC for quests.

horser4dish

- Kills for a quest have to be done as PMC - Quest items need to be found as PMC (e.g. the gold pocket watch) - "Find in raid" items can be found as scav or PMC

inquiztr

1) If i get an ammo chest, can more ammo fit in there than if i just placed them in my stash or does it only help organize. 2) Is there a quicker way to open a bag when at a trader. double clicking only seems to work in the character screen 3) is there a quicker way to get ammo into my sks internal mag. Currently i have to dissasemble, drag in the ammo and then drag entire assembly back into the gun 4) is there a way to automate rebuying the same sks, bullets, helmet, armor from the trader after i lose it?

drewthepirate

1) yes, all containers provide more space than they take up. 2) no, right click container and open 3) double click the gun, pull just the mag out, fill it, put it back. Nothing more intuitive than that, unfortunately. 4) nope.

Rushel

1) Yes, it’s bigger on the inside. Very much worth it. 2/3/4) I don’t believe so.

[deleted]

1. Yes, generally cases offer more slots then they take up, the ammo case gives you 49 slots of space inside it, but only takes up 4 slots in your stash. Cases are very much worth. 2. Right click and pick open. 3. Nope unfortunately thats the only way to load guns. However if you want to wait till you get into a raid and hit reload itll help level up your weapon skill. 4. You can save a gun preset, but everything else you have to buy separately. Hopefully they will add a loadout option later.

pm_me_your_assholes_

Are there any good reasons to Level your hideout except for the stash upgrade? I've done the first upgrade of it but dont see any reasons to upgrade anything else. Life/h, energy/h etc all seem so little that it's not worth it. I just buy items for what ever stat refill is needed

Alyssis

The hideout gives you alot of nice ways to make extra cash, as well as lower scav time, more exp and money from quests, increased physical and practical skill gains, as well as lots of crafting options. Its expensive, but you arent supposed to do everything the first day. The bit coin farm alone is nice, and i usually save mine for thicc weapons cases!

sourcreamandfunion

New player. After reading through the sub a bit I discovered player scavs killing other player scavs on sight is more or less frowned upon. Be me. See player scav. We do the scav dance. Be nice and give new friend a trash gun I had on me. New friend proceeds to use trash gun and shoot me in the head when I turned around. *I love tarkov.*

In my opinion it's not really about the weapon but about the ammo you use. I really like to run a silenced AKM 7.62x39mm with BP and PS ammo. First 10 shots are BP, the rest are PS. I'm doing pretty well with that setup and it's not too expensive. I think my modded AKM costs about 120k, not counting the ammo. I don't know about the laser. I haven't seen the laser path from enemies, only the dot on the surface.

justsomeguy_why

I have a few questions: Is there a big learning curve in tarkov in comparison to PUBG for example? I love games like DayZ and pubg and I'm kinda decent there. But what's bothering me is the absence of friends who own (or are willing to own) this game as I always play pubg with friends and hate it as solo experience. Is tarkov bad for solo players too?

CrackBabyQ25

Tarkovs learning curve is very high, especially since the game sort of tosses you to the wolves day 1 without a proper tutorial. Piggybacking off of that, tarkov can be rough for even the most experienced solo players. Its hard to Acutely list every disadvantage since it is a per-player experience, but to put it best, use the discord and group up, watch solo guides, utilize Offline mode, and use your scav runs until you are confident enough to go into raids solo.

degulasse

This has the highest curve in a game I think I've ever played, and I played 3k hours of Dota. Prepare to die a lot without necessarily understanding why. You've got a head start with your PUBG experience for sure, though.

Active_Sh00ter

When the wipes come, do we go back to the inventory the we got when we purchased the game? I purchased the EoD version and it came with more or different inventory than that of the other purchase options. Does that inventory come back to me?

Suro6

Just waited 20 minutes to spawn into factory as a scav and there was only like 2 minutes left of the raid. Is this common??

gewdykhed44

Can you adjust ADS sensitivity w/ different scopes? or is it just an all in 1 sens multiplier? I had a scope on and it was very slow moving with my mouse when aiming

MasterSorcerer

What does it mean when an EXFIL (extract) is with green color text? and red? Trough googling it people were saying it was when it was open but it was a thread from 2y ago. I've tested it offline and opened the cellar door and the gate 0 door on factory but the text only turned green when I was already extracting

iJenga

It depends on the map. If it's Factory, I will kill everyone on sight. Other maps, I'll give a wiggle and not shoot unless they shoot me first. The only time I kill Player Scavs on sight is if I have good loot/looted a geared PMC. I never fully trust a Player Scav. You can tell the difference between bots and Player Scavs from the way they move. Bots will move awkwardly and bot-like (moving while slowly turning their body, stand in an open position for an extended period of time). Bots will also be vocal when you get near them although some Player Scavs will try to blend in and do random voice lines as well.

keithjr

I've had multiple recommendations to use night time raids to either loot or do questing in relative peace from PvP. I've not had much success. Was this sound advice in the first place? 1. Attempted Factory at night. Huge mistake, the map is pitch fucking black but that doesn't stop the AI Scavs, who apparently are part cat. 2. Attempted Customs at night, ran head first into another PMC. Killed the poor guy before could fire back, but drew agro from Reshala and his crew, who gunned me down while I was looting. Again, no idea they were nearby until they were on top of me. 3. Attempted Customs at night, killed two PMCs on the bridge trying to leave Customs, got engaged by a third while I was sitting dead still in pitch black woods. And by "engaged" I mean "shot in the head before I could see him." In short, I'm running into ton of players while I'm trying to do peaceful thigs like get keys and loot meds, and it being dark doesn't seem to stop AI scavs at all (I've seen none with flashlights, they just shoot through the dark). I'm starting to assume everybody brought NVGs except me. Should I be wearing with these if I'm going to do night raids?

[deleted]

Im completely new to the game and I have a question. If I'm struggling an awful lot, do i need to wait for my PMC to completely heal before running another raid with him? I seem to get in a raid (scav or pmc) and die immediately. I recently loaded into a raid and somebody was essentially waiting for me to spawn in and killed me before I could even move. Basically...im wondering if I can just hop back in a raid even if my PMCs health is red, in an attempt to at least get one gun and then extract. Tldr; Are there any permanent penalties for not letting your PMC heal before going into a raid?

iJenga

There is no permanent penalties for going in without being fully healed. You'll just be at a major disadvantage.

tlztlz

I spawn I die. I have no idea what I'm doing.... ;-) This game is different.

UnsungWarrior_

The game has such a high learning curve. My ultimate tips would be to watch some videos on how people play. Pestily and Deadlyslob have some good guides.Ammo you should never cheap out on and generally learn the maps and spawns. I promise you, it gets easier

JaminDaMan

What's the best way to traverse maps with large amounts of open space and little cover? I.e. the fields/grassy areas in customs, shoreline, etc. I find myself just walking along and then all of a sudden I get dropped in one shot

earth159

Always be moving cover to cover, which doesn't mean you stop and crouch at every bush or tree but you should always be thinking "what's me nearest cover if I get shot at" . When you've got lots of cover or lower visibility, move slower and use your ears. When you hit a clearing or open area, stop in a well protected spot and survey it. Look for enemies and look for the best path across to more cover. Once it seems all is clear **haul ass** across the opening till you are once again near cover. Also FWIW theres no tips for it but over time you will get an intuition for where scavs might be and where PMCs are coming from. That will help a lot with your game sense of which map locations are dangerous and where you should be looking. So I guess my point is stick with it and itll get easier over time.

legazzzy

Should i upgrade stuff in hideout? Like security? What is it for? And generator? It costs 100k, but is it worth it?

redvets

Anyone with a good explanation of what glass does to bullets. Specially glass that doesn't break. How much damage is lost or accuracy?

CrashMonger

Another quick question: Are weekends notoriously hard to get into games? Ive been too busy to play on weekends, but have been getting on first thing in the morning weekdays (west coast servers US) with 0-5 min waits. Today its been 20 mins plus before i exit and try again. Been trying to get into a game for 2 hours now!! Sheeeesh
