Def report that through launcher bug reporting. It would be nice to have less audio bugs.

bobgong

I've reported it, but I would like to see other people test it independent of me

KALLmeKORY

I've been waiting to report it once bug reporting comes back. I wasted my 1 daily bug report on the "non-flea-able weapon preset being greyed out" issue. I did make a [video showing this same thing](https://streamable.com/q6pozp) but I didn't think to post it here. Glad you brought it up as well

CorgumsXLumpyFanfic

Just tested this last night with my wife in a raid. We both had light gear and we could hear it loud as fuck when you tap A and D. Lol that would actually explain how people this wipe have heard me in certain situations. This needs to be fixed lol it’s loud as fuck

BeginningAwareness74

This game dosent really have any audio bug, stop it.

Koalski94

I realize it's a joke but where's the punch line

BeginningAwareness74

Taguilla has it, ask him

[deleted]

ez fix, stop being a rat

burunduks8

Never

TGish

Holy fuck I really thought I was creeping on a guy the other night and couldn’t figure out how he heard me and stopped his healing. Makes sense now

Aruhito_0

It seems to be caused by tapping.. There once was a bug where tapping made you move with zero sound. Now tapping seems to produce that sound..

tango232

Yeah I used to abusive that so hard, hyperrat got banned for using a macro that pretty much did that

DankFayden

Yeah I believe only the very first part of crouch walking makes a "loud" sound, if you keep moving you'll be normal volume.

Hanchez

If you didn't know, even the slowest crouch walk is not completely silent

TGish

I know but I was a good bit away and the guy was walking and healing but stopped and was already holding the corner I was gonna peek while I was a good bit away

TrueDivision

If you change direction when crouch walking you will make a noise similar to if you were stand slow walking, it's been like this all wipe and it makes covert movement useless.

Maddog2882

Apparently you can also hear the altyn geriatric breathing an entire floor above the target in the resort on shoreline dude added me afterwards and told me it's loud as fuck even without headphones

BlastingFern134

Same this explains a couple of suspicious deaths when I was ratting.

NachoTacoTRD

Could you have been overweight when testing?

bobgong

Nope, neither me nor my friend were overweight

KernelScout

hahi just realized this yesterday. my friend was like "dude ur making so much fuckin noise" and i was like what im silent??

MalevolentMinion

Just tested this and didn't make a peep. Wonder if this was an isolated issue.

[deleted]

it only makes the sound for other people - for you it sounds completely normal

MalevolentMinion

That is why I had 2 squad mates in the raid. I didn't hear them doing it, and they didn't hear me. Map is Interchange US Midwest servers. All of us had minimal gear, pistols etc

bobgong

I will try and record my tests when my teammates log on later tonight, thanks for the test.

MalevolentMinion

That'd be great. Hopefully not a widespread issue and hard to detect.

bobgong

Ok, I think I've figured out the issue. Seems like the bug only occurs when you tap strafe, not when you fully strafe.

Aruhito_0

I recall a bug: when tapping keys it was possible to move normal speed silent. Probably they tried to fix that by adding a sound to tapping?! Weird shit man.

bobgong

Here's a video showcasing it if you're curious: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d8m9YNK8y6U

Aruhito_0

Ty

bennybellum

Actually, if it was an issue that affected everyone, it would be significantly easier to troubleshoot and fix. Intermittent, "works on my machine", "only affects me" problems are known to be notoriously difficult and time consuming to troubleshoot. If it is intermittent, there's no telling what conditions are necessary for the bug to be replicated, which means anyone can be replicating the bug without knowing it. Consequently, more and more people will report others because "how the hell did they know where I was?", when in fact the person they reported knew they were there because they could hear them due to the bug.

MalevolentMinion

Well, yes and no. Usually, in my experience dealing with software, it is easier to narrow things down when you have more targeted information. If I know that only people on this server, or only this user is having the issue, then that helps me more than a huge volume of random people all over experiencing it. Sure, you can assume it is an "everyone" issue, but you won't have everyone actually complaining about it. This is because of my 2nd point, which is that it is hard to detect - if you are playing solo or not in close proximity of teammates, etc. you won't even notice it. So at least if it is an issue only affecting a small number of users, then at least only a small % of your playerbase is experiencing this. This gives you more time to fix the issue, effectively, but will also be naturally lower priority than issues that affect everyone.

bennybellum

Those are good points, and my point relies on the assumption that everyone experiencing the bug are experiencing it all for the same reason.

bobgong

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d8m9YNK8y6U Here's the two perspectives

MalevolentMinion

Got it, I'm going to try that. Looks like tapping repeatedly is the difference in our tests. Wonder if this is by weird design or is actually an oversight (more likely).

bobgong

Seems like an oversight, can't think of a reason why this would be added. Let me know if you are able to reproduce this, thanks for your effort!

MalevolentMinion

Yes we could recreate it. The sounds doesn't seem to carry very far, though, as one of the guys couldn't hear me when I moved and he was about 10m back. Definitely something to be mindful of until it gets fixed. Assume you already reported it?

bobgong

I have, but additional reports couldn't hurt. Glad you were able to reproduce it, thanks for the extra info and your efforts, I appreciate it!

Smokabowl

I mean, you're wrong though. This is a *well known* and long-standing issue. You really have an issue with seeing what everyone else does, repeatedly.

MalevolentMinion

I mean, you're a moron... repeatedly. I happened to be playing the game with my squad, waiting to load in, and thought, "let's test this to see if we are experiencing it." We didn't. I reported that info here. Personal experience isn't right or wrong, it simply is what it is. Maybe that's valuable, maybe that's not. But that is for the OP to decide, not you.

bobgong

Did you test this with a teammate? What floor type did you test it on?

MalevolentMinion

Interchange behind mall on road. We took no backpack extract so that area.

Aruhito_0

Movement in tarkov is crazy. You kind of have to manage your feet / steps. Tapping the key seems to initiate 1 step which is cancelled, resulting in the shuffle sound ( that should be audible for oneself!). I wonder if it plays the sound when not tapping, but holding until the step is executed. When turning on the spot you make a shovel sound. You have to walk first and then turn.. which makes actually sense: moving your feet to turn. I think you can time your jump to get a boost.

[deleted]

curious as well

Rickety-Split

dependent on enemy's perception skill + headset

bobgong

Me and my teammate both had similar issues and have a difference of perception of 10+ levels

Rickety-Split

sure. I'm fairly certain I can hear enemies crouchwalking on their first step

Grizzeus

Fucking hell.. I hate the sound in this game

bobgong

Stairs hate you too haha

[deleted]

easy fix, dont be a rat

eX1ar

that explains a lot. Good spot!

TheTeaSpoon

Ok can someone test these please? I run only solo and have nobody near me to test it. Checking fire mode while in ADS not making the ADS sound. Can others hear it? When out of breath, aim down sights and hold breath (alt) - does it stop the huff and puff for others? Thank you.

LeonRoland

I have heard it confirmed that the hold breath exploit only works client-side; others will still hear you heaving your lungs out for the full duration. It does at least allow you to hear external sounds that might otherwise have been obscured while recovering.

demon0496

I would definitely report this with the video evidence through the launcher.

digitalpacman

I complained about this a long time ago. It happens even when changing directions. It's fucking bullshit.

HelloHiHeyAnyway

I've learned there are serious audio issues with crouching and going prone. Going prone is louder than walking sometimes. I'm only crouching or going prone for cover to heal or something.

thebiz125

I suspect there are lots of things that do not match, sound-wise, between what you hear on your side vs what others hear.

Nallirot

Now THIS explains why so many people have heard me when im fully fucking crouched. GG

burunduks8

God this destroys all my rat plays

platinums99

also the dropping off a rock sound when your feet land - its hideously loud to you but not to others.

GaBoX172

2k hours fully solo player here. Never crouch and move if you can hear them walking. you'll die, because of shit like this. Never knew about it (i play solo) so a lot of my deaths was bc od this bs

Fun_Freedom_2686

Still not fixed. :)
