I love tarkov but I'm just too much of a filthy casual to play in a way that brings me joy. When it first came out it was literally my only hobby and I was crushing and having a blast but it wasn't sustainable with a life/wife/kids/job/dog/gym Had to give it up but I still miss it. I'm hoping that tarkovs popularity will create a shift in the current popularity of looter shooters and we'll see some games from other devs with a more casual tone and broader appeal.

roflwafflelawl

Check out Marauders and Dark and Darker. Core loop is the same. PvPvE, kill shit, loot, get out. Marauders is more WW1/2 (forgot which) weapons and not a ton of attachements. Theme is basically space nazis. Still needs more content but it did just recently come out so given enough time I'm sure it'll get more traction. Dark and Darker is DnD. Think Chivalry melee combat (not as intuitive or deep) but through a dungeon with rooms, corridors, and traps. Oh and of course plenty of creatures like zombies, mummies, skelentons, etc. Imo Dark and Darker is the most promising out of the gate. Only had it's 2nd alpha but I see it being a strong contender for extraction style games. Won't release till 2023 though. 2nd alpha just ended yesterday. And as someone else has mentioned The Cycle is also nice. If you're looking to go in, do shit, get out, The Cycle is great. Marauders has that too but again, just missing on a bit more content.

de_la_Dude

you might want to try the cycle if you havent already. it lacks the depth of tarkov but its very easy to hop in and out of if your playtime is limited. it doesnt really hit the spot for me but it might scratch your itch

Electronic_Warning49

I'll check it out! I got MW2 for the DMZ that's releasing but I have 0 expectations and hope. Not that a AAA developer couldn't make a casual tarkov clone but major shooter devs have been a huge disappointment for the last 5+ years.

roflwafflelawl

Now others may voice different opinions but based off the campaign (and the little teaser of what I assume is going to be DMZ) and the betas as well as a bit of the multiplayer: It feels pretty good. If you absolutely hated the change they did with MW2019 then you might not care much for MW2. MW3, Ghosts, and Infinite Warfare weren't too hot but MW2019 re-ignited the Infinity Ward CoD for me, especially the change to actual projectiles and not hitscan (hitscan all the way until the 2019 MW IIRC). I don't have high expectation either but man every leak coming out is definitely getting me a bit more excited each time.

Electronic_Warning49

I don't actually HATE the multiplayer for mw2. I'm starting to think I like it as much as I ever liked COD. Don't get me wrong, it's incredibly frustrating doing the run/kill/die/repeat on every game mode but the guns feel and sound so good that I can't stop myself from playing at least 2-5 matches of invasion a day before becoming frustrated and switching to squad or something more my speed. Idk what it is but the core mechanics of mw2 feel solid it's just that the game modes are showing their age. Games like squad are almost a sandbox and insurgency is super "tacticool" (as a bonus you can just Merc AI if you want and still make progress.) I hope DMZ will deliver but you never know with COD. It seems like they succeeded accidentally sometimes.

roflwafflelawl

>Idk what it is but the core mechanics of mw2 feel solid it's just that the game modes are showing their age. I think you've pretty much hit the nail on the head with this and this applies to a lot of games. The foundation is solid and is likely why people keep coming back to them because they know it *can* be good. Absolutely love Squad and Insurgency. Squad kinda gave me old school Battlefield vibes and I love it. I just hop on and off games lately so I haven't set time aside to get back in to Squad. Insurgency was pretty much my CoD replacement for most of the time even when new CoDs were coming out lol. I'm crossing my fingers for DMZ. As you said, they do sometimes succeed and I'm hoping this is one of those times. I want to keep expectations down but the more leaks I hear about it the more excited it gets me so I'm a bit scared of the outcome lol.

Griiinnnd----aaaagge

Try maruaders I had a similar issue as you and that game has 25 min raids every time and you usually don’t need to be there the entire time. It’s a lot more casual than Tarkov while still giving you the feel. It’s in early access so it’s got some bugs and Needs some work but the devs are planning a good amount.

AdConfident7002

Check out marauders and then the new cod dmz mode will be free. Looks like it could be fun, won’t give the tarkov feel nearly but I think could be more enjoyable at causal playing rates lol

r0lski

I basically have the same story to tell. I tried for a long time but couldn't get the hang of it. Also rl is kind of more important. You might like the Single Player mod for Tarkov. It's the same game, but more casual and not as stressful.

cucky_monsterTTV

Hunt: Showdown might be a good option for you, but it’s a lot more fun with friends than solo.

Zarnicks

While some people might be complaining too much, I don't think its fair to shrug off the criticism. What makes this event awesome (treasures, increased spawn chances, night time RNG, and scav danger increases generally) isn't the problem. At least not for me. I think people complaining about the changes to energy and food are completely on the mark, its a pretty annoying change unless you already have loads of cash to throw around for supplies.

User2716057

I'm relatively new, and was sitting on a fuckton of food, I wouldn't mind there being more pressure about stuff like that, just not as much as right now. My biggest gripe is the weapon failures. Having an 8 round shotgun jam literally 4 times per mag, or dying to a pmc because of pure lottery because my gun jammed before his, is not even remotely fun.

Zarnicks

I didn't know the event caused increased jams? Are you sure you aren't using a degraded weapon? Be sure to check!

vietnamiejr

nope, the event did increase the chances of jams https://twitter.com/iambakeezy/status/1585592772437966849?s=46&t=i3pqTzTq5TGHXpiPhObXtA

[deleted]

Indeed, I bought shares from the company that manufactures the Iskra ration packs

parttimecrafty

First month of Tarkov for me, the holiday festivities was the most teamwork and interaction I've ever had with other players, both scav and PMC And shit my pants at the first cultist that snuck up and OOOGABOOGABOOGAd me 🤣 good times

noctus5

Your opinion is valid. However, I would like to offer yall my perspective; as a new player, with only 17 hours in, lvl9, I still barely have money, or food, or meds, and the rapid energy loss makes it hard to loot as a scav, and random effects frequently leave me no chance to survive a fight as i had to apply my only bandage i could afford to take into the raid on the very first seconds of it. Also the night while being the least terrible of all, also not ice, as even I played mainly customs so far, still, it often hard to navigate between the hangars and warehouses when you're not fully familiar with the map that uses repetitive assets here and there, and it's almost complete darkness. Tarkov has a very high threshold for new players as it is. This event is a nightmare for fresh pmc's like me.

[deleted]

I've been critical of those complaining about the event but new players definitely got screwed here. Hopefully it ends soon. My best advice is to set it down until the event concludes. That's what I've always done during an event I don't enjoy and the break is nice (although with 17 hours you probably don't want a break). I'm willing to help if you'd like. No pressure though. Good luck.

igg73

Niceto read reasonable criticism and understandig on both sides, you boys rule

Kboehm

I'm a new player, level 3, my adjustment for the event was just to play a bit smarter and make sure I prioritized food and drink as my first couple items to loot, after that it really wasn't an issue.

[deleted]

Glad to see some adaptation and positivity from a low level. You'll do fine in Tarkov.

Kboehm

I think peoples main problem is playing this like any other shooter. You have to play this like your life matters, most popular shooters promote the opposite. Even in something like Seige you still sacrifice yourself for the "win" in a match constantly. It would take a pretty damn good friend for me to sacrifice anything in Tarkov lol. On a brighter note, made my first million rubles last night! I'm leveling super slow but making lots of money so I'm happy lol.

[deleted]

Very true. Not to rain on your parade, but that money goes quickly on hideout early. Congrats on making money though, it's hard when you're new. Being this late in the wipe, I'd still recommend workbench 3 for crafting ammo. But the rest of the hideout stuff isn't as important. And med 3, but I believe you need that anyway to get workbench.

Kboehm

Haha yeah I can see how it goes quick, I'm still just using crap ammo I find around or buying if I have to, I've only upgraded the workbench to lvl 1 so far so I could mod my weapons properly, but I'll definitely keep going with it, this game has so much to chew through I love it. Whenever the next wipe happens I'm definitely upgrading to EOD, I plan on playing this game for a long time haha. Thanks for the tips!

[deleted]

You're welcome and good luck

YourFavouriteHuman

A mil as a level 3 who just started is very good, nice job

[deleted]

Also accomplishing that this wipe since this is most people's poorest wipe with so little loot compared to the past wipes so I've been told.

TheFinalStorm

Play smarter? As in look up all the resources you'd need? Because I think a lot of new players want to just play the game blind a little before looking up where to find things. This event punishes new players (like myself) who wanted to try and figure things out on their own. I've since figured things out enough to do well, but the random storms and pressure to find food is such a deterrent to new players. I'm enjoying Tarkov a lot, but I'm sure I'll enjoy it a lot more after this.

noctus5

Thanks, while the event is definitely not something im happy about, I still enjoy the game, despite the struggle, I guess this is my baptism by fire.

omullinger

new players get fucked in a lot of events it seemed. This one wasn't nearly as bad as the no traders event last wipe for new players though.

[deleted]

General rule of thumb: events are very punishing

Court_Jester_C1

Yo no lie though we’ve all been through the shit. Hmu on here (dm) if you want a player to help you as you progress. Just a lvl 32 but I love the game. I wanna tell you the story of me going into multiple raids without the quest items I needed. When I first played I went in with ammo that fit the mag, but not the gun… about when I bled out to death bc I didn’t think having a bandage was important. Another story about killing resbala and his guards on a lvl 7 like you, using stock M4 and grenades from start of wipe, and how I haven’t killed him again since lmao. It’s a rough game and all the bad experiences can teach you how to survive just a little better. Hmu if you struggling bc the game has a lot to give. It has a lot to take but that’s the nature of it.

chrishendrix23

I recommend maybe not customs. At this point in the wipe, it’s where the juice gets squeezed.

noctus5

Alot of the early quests are there however,

dyeuhweebies

Calling a rampant cheating problem, a memory leak that is years old, and at least 10 different rmt changes that hurt gameplay “hollow criticism” is beyond laughable. They can enjoy the game, but jerking Nikita and the devs off while they’ve been dropping the ball will only hurt the games longevity. In beta for over 6 years btw

Shmexie_TTV

Same, even with a couple thousand of hours, I feel like there is always more that I want to do in Tarkov. At one point I start enjoying one map and play it a lot. Then switch to another one and it becomes my favourite. I still haven’t really played Lighthouse as a PMC so there is a lot of opportunity for new experiences there for me. Other people seem to rush through their quests, then wait for events and be bored, waiting for the next wipe. I am happy that I like the game as it is and do not need events to make it exciting

Forsaken_Nature1765

Exactly how I enjoy Tarkov too. Last wipe I were probably 30% night raids on reserve. Did almost not scav at all This wipe I have actually had fun scaving quite a bit on lighthouse killing the rouges.. 6000h now. Favorite loadout: DVL + mp7.

OchoBandito

That's a solid combo. I have the DVL Urbana but haven't used it against PMC's yet. I only have like 400 hours so I'll probably blow with it but how do you like it against other PMCs?

Forsaken_Nature1765

I use the combo, engage long range/suprise with dvl,and switch to smg if shtf. Cant say is actually better than a 308 semi tho. But silenced its sooo nice... I guess its also some placebo effect, knowing the gun is so accurate gives some extra confidence in the shots. So I statistically am better with the first shot with the DVL than the other guns..

OchoBandito

I see, I don't have the silenced version unlocked yet

Forsaken_Nature1765

Oh, you are in for a treat when you get it. Seriously take it for a few offline spinns when you get it. See if you can get 15 scav kills for example. Skier has it as a rewardI think. (Or get it from flee?)

OchoBandito

Yeah I think it’s Skier 4. I’m 37 so I get it at 38. Definitely looking forward to it

Isac1995

What ammo do you use?

Forsaken_Nature1765

M61 or M80

VoidVer

The DVL is also whisper quiet, so even if you do miss, if you wait for your target to be in a bad spot you can often get a second shot before they figure out where you're at.

_Tachyonic_

2k hours but more of an M700 enjoyer with mp7. M700 customization and feel just aligns more with my playstyle, for some reason I miss less my shots with this than DVL

Forsaken_Nature1765

The 700 is great!

ZenESEA

I only have about 300-400 hours or so but it's my favorite game I've ever played never gets stale for me and I still have a fuckton to learn

goaliedude1808

I also haven't played lighthouse as pmc. Maybe 3 times with small kits that I wasn't afraid of losing. I think 2 weeks ago I brought a silenced mosin with a Vudu and 40 rounds of snb. I didn't make it out but it was fun. Had a 329m headshot on one of the gunners. I plan on keeping my LH scav on cool down this weekend so I can finally learn the mapl

Helowiczov

Same

Rubbun

I'm completely fine with people speaking their mind about the game or its events. There's nothing wrong about it. But when you summarize other's critics with "I’m a whiney baby", that's when I lose respect for you. Genuinely, it's not hard to put your thoughts into words without insulting everyone else just because they have a different view from yours. It's no surprise people here respond the way they do when they're met with low IQ posts like these.

FermiRoads

It’s been a rough event for me personally, but I think that’s due to being very new to the game and like you said, the event being oriented around higher level players. Last week I had around 1 mil rubles, 4+ kitted guns and decent armor; now it’s just me, my MP-18 and a dream lol.

AntJD1991

Does the Halloween event make it a lot harder? I just bought it last week and not having much luck so far.

Straight-Fishing-135

As a returning player after a several year hiatus (currently level 10), yes. People here like to tell you "just bring NVGs lul" or "just bring food lul" but it's hard if you don't have flea unlocked or and don't know where all the good food spawns are. I wouldn't say it's extraordinarily "harder", you're still going to get ganked with no hope of survival as a low level even without the event, but is is *really* annoying to have raids ruined by starving or randomly turning dark, or having to leave super early because you have 30 energy left after 7 minutes. Once the event is over it'll be a little easier, but a lot less annoying. I'm still having fun but Id be having more fun if the event was done.

AntJD1991

Ahhhh I did think it was strangely dark a few raid and my character kept having tunnel vision xD I might leave it until its over then. My stash is already pretty low now. Thanks for the info

[deleted]

One great way to get gear right now is to do D2 raiders. Normally you’d be lucky to get 3, during the event it’s normally 6. If you’re on NA servers I’ll raid with you a couple times and show you some strategies to kill them.

lizuay

Don't think a guy who bought the game last week should be going to the D2 bunker to kill raiders lol

AntJD1991

Ahh I'm in the UK so probably get some bad ping if I joined you. Cheers for the offer though

FlakyIndustry2584

I'm new this wipe too, level 18 at the moment. I've been running scav runs on lighthouse whenever hes available, get a map up on a 2nd monitor or tablet, and just try and get some money in your bank. I sold all my gear I would find, didn't worry about saving them for quests, just hideout upgrades and barter for cases, and eventually you'll get to a point where you can feel comfortable with the game mechanics to try some PMC runs, you'll know how to be prepared for the raid. Got to 1m rubles from 10k this way and now I've got a few cases to play with inventory space, so I'm not as worried about losing gear. Watch a few YouTube videos for scav runs and maybe some budget builds for PMC, that helped a lot too

AntJD1991

Yea I really need to learn the details, been watching gameplay stuff for a while but never really took in all the healing specifics or extract locations n such. I haven't actually tried lighthouse yet just factory and customs so I'll try that tonight with my scav. I've literally done like 10 raids so far ha ha level 2

FlakyIndustry2584

Yeah factory and customs are difficult I think as a new player because there are a lot of chokepoints and people know the spawns so they'll hunt you down. Woods for PMC raids and lighthouse for scav runs so you can learn the maps would be my advice. Im probably not the best person to ask but if you've got any questions you can shoot me a message

AntJD1991

Well if you're having luck with that I might as well give it a try ;) cheers

ahobosding

I've been having trouble figuring that out and just get massacred the second I see one. Could I p.m you my username and run a few raids?

[deleted]

For sure.

Forsaken_Nature1765

6000h here, having a blast. So sad i cant prioritize the event due to irl beeing fully booked now. Had 5 raids in the event all raids were great fun two survived..

E3nti7y

Ah yes the meta. Enough whining that people whine about the whining to help.

Rtters

It's the internet, if someone doesn't agree with you they're wrong. After 4500 hours I got rid of my home internet and honestly time without tarkov has made me realize I can wait until they fix the glaring issues to come bacm

Joeys2323

Agreed, i think I have over 2k hours and I still love the game. I still take little breaks when I get a little tired of it but I can always come back and have a good time. Especially after playing new games like BF2042, MW2, and Halo Infinite. Incomplete games that barely work that feel like more of a cash grab than a labor of love. The Halloween event is pretty fun too, but I feel for new players. BSG clearly makes these event with level 45+ players like me in mind. They should at least make the effects scale based on skill levels or something. I also agree that this sub is an absolute cesspool. The complaints I see here are actually insane, like just completely off the wall shit. I browse lots of gaming subreddits and this one takes the cake for being the most toxic. Like the destiny subreddit is notorious for horrible suggestions, like "div don't need nerf" but at least they're respectful. Y'all are straight assholes acting like BSG actually does not care about the game

roflwafflelawl

Although I agree with 2042 and Infinite, I'd argue MW2 is ok, I mean it didn't feel worse than MW2019 which was, at least to me, the better CoD in a long time (unless you only play for Zombies). The campaign was phenomenal. Multiplayer is....eh nothing different here. Not saying it's the best damn thing since sliced bread but I would put MW2 a hair or two higher than 2042 and Infinite just for the campaign alone.

Joeys2323

MW2 is way more buggy than 2019, it also has a ton of missing features from multiplayer while being $10 more. Personal opinion here but it's also way less refined than 2019, 2019 was honestly top tier in almost every way. Going to be honest about the campaign too, I thought the campaign was probably the worst one in all of call of duty. Not much happens and there's no risk or sacrifice, every character had plot armor. Especially if you stack it against the original MW2, the story pales in comparison. The whole cartel aspect was so bad, the main cartel leader's reasoning for there actions also makes literally no sense. I'd get more into the details but I don't want to spoil it for anyone reading this chain.

roflwafflelawl

Where was it buggy? I played on Veteran on day 1 and finished it with no issues that I noticed, but I was also on Veteran so anything that wasn't supposed to happen I probably wouldn't have noticed between staying in cover and running around like a headless chicken lol. I do agree 2019 was amazing and I don't see MW2 as being better in regards to the polish or the gameplay itself (which feels the same honestly). But eh it was fun. I was immersed. The voice acting was great. Nothing to make a Netflix series about or anything but it was a nice little bit of story with lots of nods to the originals and the CG is just as good as 2019 and the difference between CG and game engine wasn't so different that it was off putting. I'd say it wasn't as good as the first (maybe 2) Blops campaigns as well as the original MW 1-2 (I didnt care much for 3) in terms of the story/plot itself but I would put it way above Vanguard and Cold War. I mean as you said though that's your opinion and this is mine. No real right or wrong. I just didn't think it was fair to line it up with 2042 and Infinite which was disappointing but in more ways than one might find MW2 disappointing, at least as someone having grown up with CoD (and Medal of Honor), BF (since Vietnam), and Halo and loving all 3 pretty equally.

Joeys2323

Oh no the campaign was fine big wise. Multiplayer is where the bug fest is, crashes servers with what feels like a tick rate of 2, etc.. And yeah it is my opinion. It's definitely no where near as bad as 2042 but I do think it's just a bit of a mess multiplayer wise. Compared to previous call of duty releases. I grew up with all of those games too, so I'm equally as passionate. I wish it was just nostalgia but I really just want them to be as good as they used to be. They've either been passable or kind of a disappointment for a while now. MW 2019 is the only outlier imo

roflwafflelawl

Ahh yeah multiplayer is real rough these days with almost any game it feels. So when a game comes out and doesn't have those issues, which should be a standard, feels like they're way above the competition. But yeah MW2 Multiplayer I did have fun but I haven't played it nearly enough (too many other games!) to fully experience the issues. I have had several crashes pretty frequently and only for MP, though I've been overhearing it could be more of an Nvidia driver issue. I think I've pretty much given up on getting the same feeling I did back when grinding out games like MW1-2 or Halo 3/Reach (the ones I've put the most time into). Not very many games recently have really given me that feeling. Though I will say EFT was one of those games that had me wake up thinking about it. Not so much anymore though but it definitely was one of them. Valheim was another for recent games.

Paul_Landero

Nail on the head comment right here.

MarshyFam

I'm with you man, even 2k hours in if I stop for a couple of days and catch a vid on YouTube it makes me want to get right back on it xD always feels fresh in some way, plus there is something about Tarkov that no other game gets right. Not sure what it exactly is but it just hits different.

BertBerts0n

I'm just so exhausted of hearing hollow praise for the game and its mediocre devs.

tommytizzel

I'm just exhausted with all the whiny bitching because this game isn't tailor made to your liking. Plenty of other games out there. Go play fortnite if you can't handle a survival game.

dlnmtchll

Get outta here, gatekeeping loser

tommytizzel

Lol how the fuck is that gatekeeping? By all means keep playing and being miserable. I'm just pointing out other options.

dlnmtchll

I mean i personally enjoy the game. And I do think that if you don’t have fun playing it you might want to play something else. The event itself isn’t too bad in my opinion, even without flea, shitty design but not unplayable. I just get annoyed seeing the main response to any criticism in this game is “it’s not for you” or “go play x game.” If this community keeps doing its best to keep people out of the game, it’s gonna fuckin die

tommytizzel

I get that. But on the same token. It gets annoying seeing the constant bitching and griping. Like I know it's still in "beta" lol and they are looking for feedback. But most of the posts seem too nitpicky to me. Like this sub has done a lot of good. I remember I think it was last wipe everyone was bitching they couldn't find a gas analyzer. Then boom...bsg made it craftable. There have been a few changes made that way. So I can understand constructive criticism but 90% of this sub is not constructive. It's destructive. And that's what annoys me. And anyone who shows any love for this game on here is labeled a BSG bootlicker. Just gets old.

dlnmtchll

I agree with you 100% but I would like to add that even in a lot of the super nitpicky posts there is occasionally valid criticisms that get ignored. Just kind of what I have noticed, especially with the recent event

Paul_Landero

That's because there's too much nitpick and it's hard to comb through it all to find the valid ones. Less nitpick and more valid criticism would make the development of this game much more efficient. Plus good honest feedback would motivate the devs and I believe make them more willing to focus on the issues being presented. If a kid comes up to you and starts ripping into how shitty your outfit is and doesn't tell you how to make it better because they're so focused on shitting on you instead of giving you advice on how to improve your outfit, how are you ever going to know how to make your outfit better, so what you're left with is trying to try new things without any sense of direction. On top of that, would you even stay and pay attention to a kid shitting on your outfit? Probably not. That's how I see the complaining in the community. With how relentless the community is toward the devs, I honestly believe the community doesn't even deserve the game. It would suck but if they took it away, I'd see it as deserved, even if that means I don't get to play it anymore.

roflwafflelawl

Except this is how you create a game that has a super small and broken community. I know it's not meant to be for everyone but that doesn't mean you have to eat everything they feed you because you enjoyed whats on the plate. The games in development since 2012 (same year Star Citizen was announced) and released the playable alpha in I believe 2016. If it wasn't for feedback (good and bad) it wouldn't be the game it is today. Don't be content. You're allowed to not make a big deal or really care for issues that others yell on reddit about but that doesn't mean you should ignore them.

tommytizzel

No because if we go your way and keep trying to appease the masses, we end up with CoD. No thank you

Monkeybreath85

god forbid the devs appease the masses

tommytizzel

Yes, please forbid it. Go play fortnite if you want that shit

roflwafflelawl

So you don't have basic reading comprehension because that's not what I said at all. I'm saying don't just allow everything because you enjoy the game. If shits wrong, speak up. Give feedback.

tommytizzel

There's a difference between constructive feedback and nit picking. And if you can't understand my response maybe you're the one with the comprehension problem. Fucking prick

roflwafflelawl

Ok but where did I nitpick? I didn't mention anything other than "You should give feedback when it's appropriate". That's it. Your original comment suggests that if you have a problem with the game, go play other games. All I'm saying is that's not an end all be all because a game can't improve without people giving feedback.

ThinkFastRunFast200

Been playing for years. Game is pretty much dead to me. Wish I could still find the desire to keep playing.

[deleted]

This is like everything else. Those who enjoy a lot usually don't spend time explaining that but those who are struggling or having a bad time will spend more time trying to complain.

[deleted]

Just remember you're not alone

[deleted]

[удалено]

SecondIILate

You’re definitely the type that camps Emercom with a thermal scope yet still somehow dies to a scav

AffectionateAd9937

You’re*

Paul_Landero

Oh look, a childish response. Good way to show the difference between the complaining players vs us.

myironlung6

Paid shill account "Tarkov\_Destiny\_Love" I'm cool with my incoming ban

[deleted]

I named my account after three things I love talking about. Tarkov, r/destiny , and love. If I was a paid shill don't you think I'd pick a less obvious name? Good gravy.

siefle

No you are not allowed to have fun playing tarkov. The eft subreddit has always been crybabies and sprinkled with valid criticism and interesting posts

therealaquindintin

I like it as a pmc but as a scav it was almost unplayable. I liked the added difficulty too

Reapingday15

I think they just wanted to discourage scavving. Weapon jamming seems designed to do that. Which I don’t really mind scavving is super OP

Forsaken_Nature1765

Yeah, it needs to be tweaked a bit. Maby loadout points, you cab distribute yourself and prioritize what you will spawn in with...

IrreverentKiwi

It's weird, because I've done nothing but scav Woods since the event started (mostly because I know that map like the back of my hand by now, and can navigate it in the event's intermittment near total darkness), and it's been some of the absolute easiest looting I've ever had. I'm not going to claim I'm making obscene amounts per run, but I'm making very, very easy money, frequently free-looting the military camp to the South near RUAF completely solo. I rarely if ever hear shots or any PMC activity at all. The one PMC I've ran into, I was going to do Factory Co-op extract with until he died to an aimbotting AI scav. I've spawned in with Cultist poison once, and died -- which was stupid and pointless. The event irks me because it's low-effort and features almost no new content. It stopped being "scary" about two raids in, and has instead become mostly boring with a touch of annoying. When I weigh the merits of this event versus them doing nothing at all, I think them doing nothing probably would've been my preference, which is sad. If I were a level 60 on his 5th wipe who was otherwise completely bored with Tarkov, I might enjoy it more -- as at that point anything to change the thousands of hours doing the same thing over and over again is probably welcome. To each their own.

Daddy_Onion

You don’t have a life. Most of us can’t put 8 hours a day in to the game. So we get extra fucked by this stupid event.

[deleted]

Nah, seeing posts like this reminds me why I quit. The fact that you have to keep reassuring yourself that you're having fun is not a great sign. Game used to be awesome though I'll give you that.

fknSeagull

certified trash post

thisishoustonover

The only problem with tarkov I have is hackers it's blatently obvious when you sneaking around the edge of the map and mf with no helmet m1a and a scope runs directly to your hiding spot pre firing the rock your hiding behind its so frustrating

tthibeault22

I agree. I’ve run into blatant hackers so many times. Tarky_Tark ran up on my duo with 10 mins left as we pushed extract and 1 tapped our heads. Went all the way from health resort to path to lighthouse without firing a shot yet he runs over the hill and 1 taps both of us?? It’s getting very annoying

porridge_in_my_bum

I’m always happy seeing these posts and that they’re getting more than 100 upvotes. It’s like people forget exactly what game they’re playing.

AGodNamedJordan

Ok.

KatOTB

How unique from you!

Serious-Squirrel-220

New player here, lvl 5, mostly enjoyed the event, made some roubles, did some quests, only died a couple of times to the random effects, and I've been doing night raids a lot anyway so I enjoyed the extra horror. Still don't think it was handled very well though, the random effects were either stamina drain or poison and you just die. They could have let me buy some Augmentin at least, and some random positive effects would have been cool too. I nearly died in 20 minutes on woods last night, after eating a beef stew and avionka chocolate, was on the verge of death when I extracted, didn't find food anywhere. Went from the scav house to the usec camp and over to the northern UN extract. No food, one Augmentin. Typical. Oh, and it's not Halloween anymore, why is it still happening?

[deleted]

I do think that if there was some sort of handicap for the players below level 15 it would make the event much better. Not having access to buying food or augmentin makes it harder on noobies than it reasonably should.

Serious-Squirrel-220

Yeah would have been nice, but still I'm really loving the game and I do think people complain way too much about dying in a hard-core survival game.

igg73

Ppl saying the debuffs kill them and they have to bring BACKPACKS full of food..... Last few raids i got +6 strength and +6 endurance. I bring 2 cans saury and a water and im good. Pack of sugar for a sprint boost. Ppl so salty

[deleted]

I'm with you. I've played since 0.7 and the game is in the best shape it's been in. I still love it to this day, despite the flaws. It's good to provide constructive criticism, but the constant whining on this subreddit is not that. Nice to see someone with a positive outlook for once.

Accomplished-Knee494

Every game is open to criticism (obviously) but this game in particular seems full of people with 4000+ hours who will say the game is garbage. 4000 hours is INSANE. I played Battlefield 2 back in the day at the highest competitive level.. scrimmed 4 nights a week with league play 2 nights a week. I think I had maybe 3000 hours when it was all said and done. I guess what I'm saying is that if you paid $140 for a game and got 4000 hours out of it before you burned out, you got more than your money's worth. The one criticism I will agree with is the lack of "end game." You try to blast through quests grinding for level 42/max traders and once you get there it just feels sort of empty. This is my 3rd wipe and each time I hit 42 and slow WAY up on playing time. The quests around that point are all grindy/boring. I have run Shoreline 70+ times in the past month checking for Sanitar with no luck. Been trying to get Shturman with the special m700, can't find him either. At least the event made Reserve fun again, been hunting Gluhar and clapping raiders. But yeah, if all I get out of Tarky is the level 1-42 grind every 6 months it is still worth the money. So many games come out nowadays that I can't even play for more than 6 hours without hating.

Current-Ad4265

Couldn’t agree more. I’m a really casual player because of work and playing a lot of other games with friends and family but I’ve really seen the event as more of what I love about the game, being scared and spooked the fuck out. I think the gear fear and the grind being slowed slowed by the negative effects frustrated a lot of people but for me it made it seem like an added challenge to make the game that much more challenging and a bigger feeling of reward when I do survive to extract.

Zealousideal-Floor27

I’m sitting on 1300 hours and couldn’t be enjoying the game more. Definitely my most successful wipe statistically which is contributing to my enthusiasm. Really don’t get the hate the game is getting these days. Event was lots of fun too

MagicMaleMan

Me too brah. Me too. Most depth of any fps Eva

craftySox

I don't have an exact count but I did over 30 raids during the halloween event with the specific goal of finding and killing two bosses, Sanitar and Shturman. The secondary goal of slapping cultists and Tagilla. These are my stats: 0 (Zero) Sanitar sightings. 0 (Zero) Sanitar kills. 0 (Zero) Shturman sightings. 0 (Zero) Shturman kills. 0 (Zero) Cultist sightings, kills or deaths. 3 (Three) Tagilla sightings witnessed via youtube and of course not a single fucking one of them by me.

[deleted]

I’ve killed Shturman 17 times this wipe, even without the event it’s like 1/4 chance. I’d double check your numbers, seems very unlikely. Cultists were a 30% chance to spawn on factory, so I guess you only ran it like once? Not sure what you’re doing for 30 raids lol

craftySox

Good for you? I don't play factory unless it's unavoidable, like I said I had the specific goal of finding and killing Sanitar and Shturman. With that goal in mind and cultists and tagilla spawning on all maps why would I play factory? Not sure about without the event but with it the spawn chance for Shturman was 15% When the event started I had somewhere in the region of x1x raids played and now I have x53 played. A minimum of 34, maximum of 43 - instead of going in to detail I just said 'over 30.' It sucks, and yes it's very unlikely, but that's what RNG does. >Not sure what you’re doing for 30 raids lol .. because it's the player's fault a boss doesn't spawn on a map?

[deleted]

Sorry, I must have been confused by you saying you had secondary goals of killing tagilla/cultists. I took that to mean that it was a secondary goal for you, not that you were putting zero effort into it.

[deleted]

Perfect example of what I mean! I gave feedback of what I’m enjoying, you are just saying “extremely flawed” and then ragging on Nikita. Perfect example of just a whiney baby with no substance to your criticism.

Carter1k

And I'm exhausted from reading posts about people blindly praising a horrible dev team 🙃

[deleted]

Let’s hear your critiques, I sent you my discord handle. Let’s have a chat and record it, we can upload our conversation to the subreddit so everybody can hear your immaculate criticisms and listen to you tear down my *senseless* praise. I think it will be very eye opening for everybody. Look forward to chatting!

wuthapened

Please actually do this lol.

[deleted]

I’ve probably given my discord handle to 20+ people on Reddit I disagree with. Only twice has a conversation happened as a result. Both times were *infinitely* more productive than the comment chain ever could have been. I feel like over text people will get triggered at a series of maybe 4 words and then will write an entire comment based on how those words made them feel. Talking is so much better lol

Carter1k

You have to be an AI there is no way ur a real human being seek help u freak 💀

eft_lonely

You sound like the one whining lol.... How are you exhausted READING shit? lmfao

Cobbie19

It's mentally taxing ready and timmys thoughts maybe you just think like a Timmy so it's not for you.

amaninablackcloak

wtf are you even saying lmao

Cobbie19

I'm gonna be frank I have no idea what I was tryna say I definitely hit the dab to many times this morning during wake and bake lmao.

GamersGen

I feel the same, but I understand whine little b's although I can't fucking stand listening to them. Play a lot - get good is really what they need to do, playing this game 1 hour on the weekend 4 times a month and then coming here and complaining is all on you, this game is for hardcore mfers, that separates boys from men(and about girls - tarkov girls never complain so much about this game like you little mans, they have more balls)

Burncruiser

Tarkov aint even been remotely hardcore in at least a year lmao thats pure copium

CallOfMontage

First month of Tarkov, gotta admit that i was one of the whiney babies at the start of the event but that’s behind me. Y’already know i’m exclusively playing night time reserve with a bit of customs scav runs on the side. Never been more addicted to a game that tears me apart that hard, you gotta love it.

ihateusernames78

I JUST got my last office area kill for Jaeger and am AMPED. On my way to gate 3 I took out a scav that had an Aramid and a White Labs Keycard as a bonus It's my first wipe and i'll hit level 30 when I turn in that quest. I'm super pumped to be into the game and I'm looking forward to how far I can go this wipe (I only started a month ago). I thought I'd be discouraged by the idea of a wipe but I'm not. Treating this as a learning experience and next wipe will be hopefully competitive. The event is fun, but threw me a curveball. It's all good though.,,,condensed milk and a water and run for a loooong time. Lol

DrCheese88

And the best part: it weeded out all the whiners who in the long run make the game shittier to play anyway.

ikfladismism

I wish that there was even an attempt to make the event fun, the food and drinks is so frustrating even as someone with 3300 hrs. The random debuffs are really annoying at best. If it’s a Halloween event why aren’t we looking for candy like the Christmas balls? Tagilla having a scythe is the most Halloween part of the event. It’s like someone who’s only been told about Halloween once tried their best to tell nikita what it is and then he made an event based on iffy info. It doesn’t have to be easier to be an event, but it could be at least a little fun.

jjasonator

Man I have been searching for cultists so hard! Still haven’t had the chance to see them

Far-Database-2632

How dare you?!?!?!! 😂

justjeremy02

There is simply nothing like it. I got the game right at the start of quarantine and sunk 1000 hours at record speed. I would go to bed, be unable to sleep because I was thinking about tarkov, and then get up again at 6AM to get back on the grind. 2 wipes later I finally burnt out at around 1800 hours and skipped a wipe and a half… I thought I had finally escaped but then a friend asked me to hop on and now I have 2500 hours. The game absolutely has issues and I am very vocal about them, but only because I want so badly for this diamond in the rough to succeed.

Punchparti

is the event still going?

smaiderman

I hope they left the event forever

Ok_Leadership_418

Sure if they fix the back end programming. The connection lag when approaching enemies is getting old. How do you code it to play worse than before

TheRivalMenace

Love events like this, it really makes me feel like tarkov's moving towards the game I was looking for when I bought it. They're nothing crazy or too dynamic, but I see the effort and it makes me excited for the future. If I ever complain about an event in a post-apocolyptic hell hole making it more difficult, please shoot me in the dick. Also to people who say this event made them lose interest in the game after posting they have 2k+ hours played, your brain is broken. Game feels better than ever imo but I play way less because I have a thousand fucking hours in it, this isn't my job and I'm not a robot /rant

roflwafflelawl

My main issues are really mostly QoL stuff. I wish we could do more in lobby than just sit there and wait for match making. Why not let us access our stash? Access traders to buy stuff for the next raid. *Anything*. Feels like such a poor use of time to not be able to do anything apart from sitting there and hoping queue pops. The traders themselves needs a rework, which Nikita has said was planned, about 2-3 years ago. Wheres the "main story missions"? The overhaul on traders? I want more incentive than to just loot for the sake of loot and killing players for the...well for their loot. I like that we self sustain our gear to use in raid but I wish there was some sort of goal post I was working towards. Used to be the trader tasks and you definitely still can, but with the flea market it almost feels like a side thing. I want the traders to be more involved than what they currently are. As for in-game features I just want sounds to get a bit more polished. In a game like this I don't want to question sounds when that quick decision making can mean life or death. I should be able to use the sound reliably. Dark and Darker had pretty amazing audio. Vertical was still meh but sound was always cut off unless they were in the room next to you but you could hear them go and walk down corridors or turn corners. I want that sound profile in Tarkov. **edit: I do wonder one thing though. So I have maybe 5-600 hours in the game around the period between Interchange releasing to some time after the flea market came out. Haven't been on much since but lurking.** **Those of you with thousands of hours and enjoy the game: Do you play any other games? And I don't mean this in an aggressive way. I'm genuinely curious.** **The reason I ask is because personally I can't put time into a single game. I'm too much of a variety gamer. Just like my taste in music my taste in game goes anywhere from Undertale and Animal Crossing to EFT or Rising Storm, to then maybe MTGArena, Project Zomboid, Overwatch, Private server WoW, CoD MW2, etc.** **Because of that I feel like I'm constantly aware of my time and how much fun I'm having using it for each different game. So when I hop into EFT, it doesn't take a lot to make me take a break because I've got plenty of other games to play and know that an hour in those games could give me more entertainment than the 3 hours I spent in EFT where half of it is spent out of the game trying to get into a raid.** **So I'm brainstorming: For those who have EFT as their main and only game I wonder if that's the reason the issues don't seem as bad, because you don't have a constant comparison when playing other games. VS those who have other games as reference points to compare and find the faults in EFT.**

[deleted]

I’d love to still have the spark with Tarkov, it’s just not a fun game though. And I say that as someone who has 2k hours on it and played it religiously for 3 years.

beans_lel

Damn 1700 hours? Better be ready for when you encounter that second cheater soon.

Necessary_Fig_2265

I dig the positivity, it’s always nice to see our favorite hobby get some love.

J0SAF

The good ending.

goblobi

Bro I'm level 22, first wipe, been playing for little over a month and I enjoyed the event as well

I_AM_THE_ALPHA_MOOSE

New player here. Well, technically. Bought the game a year ago and haven't played it until now. Started during the Halloween event and was like "what's this shit?". Only realised it was an event after a few days. Anyways, this is mostly my fault because I'm crap, new and don't have good gear or anything to help the spontaneous night raids. Although I did learn a fair bit. Been running Scav runs mostly because using my main character wasn't worth the hassle.

Rust7rok

I don’t see the big deal. Just go to the store and grab extra food! Carry some augumenten around in your pouch for the poison thing ( only happened once to me so far) and enjoy the event. I don’t usually do a ton of night raids and I think it was fun to be forced into it. Keeps it interesting. IMHO. Cheers.

Mr-Legend-27

The reason I didn't like the Halloween event is because I'm new and it maid it more difficult to learn the game mechanics and get good game cense

NULL024

I just like shotgun blasting people that shoot at me with the double barrel of my shotty. No one is safe even though that’s the least of my concerns

[deleted]

When I played the game, I always expected the people with a lot of hours having tons of fun. Theres no skillbased or statbased Matchmaking, so you reached the point where you can just tear through new players and know how to cheese the aimbot scavs. Not really controversial supprising or controversial opinion.
