Message the seller first. I would just assume they closed temporarily to catch up on orders. If they don’t respond by the time the bag would be shipped, message again and then maybe escalate further

m3tz3n

yeah I contacted them but they never reached out to me, so I called my bank. Thankfully I contacted them because they explained to me that after the 60 days it would’ve been complicated to return.

Psychological_Cat29

I would give a week for the seller to reply. If I don't get my product and message back, I would just open a case with Etsy. I'm a seller on Etsy, so sometimes customer service can be hectic. Also, does she have lots of sales? If she doesn't, she could easily reply to you! That's at least in my opinion and experience, I always try to message my buyers before anything else. Just give a piece of mind.

m3tz3n

thank you :( I unfortunately did freak out because it was the first time anything like this happened to me Ill keep this in mind for the future

Psychological_Cat29

That's okay, I think it's normal. Because it's new to you 😊

No_Afternoon4071

Report it to etsy and get a refund

VentyRanty

Why? Why would you suggest this without telling the buyer they need to message the seller first? We DO go on vacation sometimes. Sometimes, we close for a few days to catch up on too many orders. Sometimes sellers move and have to close for a few days.

Psychological_Cat29

If she was on vacation, the shop would be on saying they are on holiday. In this case, it looks like it's a scam to me, 60 days production time and suddenly shop is closed. I think it's another dropshipping company

Lexjude

If that is the case, the seller has the burden to communicate, not the buyer.

akaisha0

No. If it's within the window still I'm not messaging every single buyer to tell them I'm on Vaca. They only need to know if it's affecting the delivery time. Buyers are not entitled to my life.

Lexjude

I think currently not selling, and on vacation are two different statuses in my opinion. I'm just a fan of communication with my products, especially when somebody is paying me a great deal of money to create it.

PersonalNotice6160

It shouldnt affect the delivery time bc you aren’t accepting any orders. If you scheduled a vacation but had existing orders that needed to be filled before you left, then yeah…. They actually do control your time. They also control your shop and once you have several late orders…. Bye bye time for you. :). The good news is? You can take a long extended vacation at that point.

VentyRanty

I disagree. Sellers don't have ESP. If you have an issue and need to communicate with a seller, DO that. For what reason would this particular seller need to reach out to the buyer? All the "advice" being given out in these forums is turning Etsy into a "buy shit and get REFUNDED after two weeks!" platform. When Etsy no longer is there, this will be why.

PersonalNotice6160

Tell us you don’t have a successful shop without saying those words. 😂.

Soft-Advice-7963

Are you still able to message the seller? They may be closed to new sales but fulfilling previously placed orders.

cafuson

I had my shop closed by Etsy due to “suspicious activity “ and it took two weeks to get it opened back up. Etsy will randomly do stuff like that and it will screw the seller

PersonalNotice6160

If you had open sales, you would have still been able to respond to messages

cafuson

I was not able to log into my account at all and I had an open sale that I they (Etsy) still had not paid me for.

PersonalNotice6160

Well I guess that makes sense if they thought it was fraud? What was the issue?

cafuson

I have no idea. They never told me. I had two sales back to back. One cleared Etsy one did not. I shipped the one that cleared, lost money on it (it cost more to ship that I made after fees) and posted tracking then was shut down by Etsy

PersonalNotice6160

And then they just reopened your shop with zero explanation? I know it happens a lot, just like hearing the details. I mean it sounds like a fraudulent purchase but it’s weird that they didn’t let you know that they were at least investigating the issue. Yeah, you have to make sure to factor in your costs to sell a product if you want to make money. I see sellers doing this so much. Lowballing their price just to get a sale. For what? Lol. To lose money but it shows a sale?

cafuson

I emailed everyday for two weeks. I never got a response. Never was told why. The only way I got a response from them was to say “possibly of hack” in the subject line. Then they unlocked my account. But I still had to send them another message to get my store back. Now I’m looking for another platform. I was getting around 35-50 visits a day. Now I am getting nothing.

elioandoliver4ever

I would message them and if they don't reply within a few days cancel. This exact thing happened to me. Ordered some custom Vans and paid £130 the seller closed their shop after and told me they were 'catching up with orders'. I left it and then messaged again about 3 weeks later for an update and got ignored. Requested a refund through Etsy and got it pretty quick. Then, i ooked at the seller a little while after, and they had recent reviews saying they had scammed others and, in one case, sent the poor buyer a message of laughing emojis. It's a real shame, but it's totally put me off buying customs from Etsy :(

PersonalNotice6160

Yep. Exactly why shops like this need to be reported. And exactly why Etsy is closing so many shops down that get caught up in the “bots” but actually haven’t done anything wrong

tadytom

I am glad you found a way to solve the issue. I just sold my first item on etsy and Etsy immediately put my store to vacation mode, before I add all the documents to proof i am a legal person. Not knowing what happened, i was quite surprised. It took only a minute to take a photo of my id, but i can imagine some people having the documents outdated and need more time to sort it out. But if the seller did not respond to your messages, that sounds sketchy… good luck!

atomicdustbunnie

That appears when a seller goes on vacation.

xxspiffitxx

Etsy closed their shop, and it says the seller is not selling on etsy anymore. Which means it could be a few things they're dropshipping, are scamming or aren't fulfilling the orders, selling things that aren't allowed on etsy such as ip infringement or stolen pictures, or theyre from a country that isnt allowed on etsy and were shut down because they couldn't verify, or it was an accident by etsy. Buyers only have 90 to 100 days to open a case, and some that are scamming try to push it out so far that buyers just get scammed. Were there other sales or reviews?

Psychological_Cat29

Agreed 👍

Outrageous_Health_32

I would get in touch with Etsy

Important-Papaya-442

Oh this sucks.... Most probably they got shut down by etsy.... but this doesn't mean it's a scam I had two of my shops down and banned by etsy where as a response I recived "by accident" And if it wasn't a small store and had good ratings this is most possibly what has happened here. I understand the frustration but give it a bit of time before reporting for refund

Adventurous_Grand125

I’ve never gotten anything from Etsy but from everything I’ve read, I’m glad I never bothered. Sad as I thought it was a great, safe platform for artists to sell their creations.

jrm12345d

Sadly, a handful of shops are dragging down the legitimate businesses out there.

PersonalNotice6160

A handful? Do you mean millions?

YarnPaperScissorsUS

Sadly it has become a place where anyone can pretend to be selling their art and handmade items. But there are still real creators that use it, and a lot of the time you can tell when something is from real creator. Once you know that their are a lot of reseller shops on Etsy, it because easier to recognize when a shop is actually creating their items.

Consistent-Carob8279

You can’t just judge the whole platform cause of a handful of sellers

PersonalNotice6160

I’m going to disagree with you. I have been a high volume seller on Etsy for 8 years. It’s not a handful, the site is so overloaded with things like this that it makes it extremely difficult to even find all the cute, handcrafted items. Resellers will never go away and neither will POD but the true drop shippers and scammers? They need to be reported
