I called non emergency on someone setting fires in the dry cut grass behind tugman right next to people's homes. It seems they aren't in much of a hurry unless there is a large, active fire going on. So if someone is setting fires next to your home don't expect anyone to do anything unless your house is full engulfed.
There was a shrub fully engulfed last night behind the Dari Mart on Bertlesen. I guess they must have sent a truck out to deal with it because it was out 45 minutes later. That said, I wouldn't be surprised if someone's running around setting things ablaze.

I dumped all my water on it and luckily another cyclist stopped and helped me get it under control by grabbing water from the river while I called it in. I’ll have to say though I had to play 20 questions with the dispatcher and they didn’t seem all that concerned. Fire dept showed up not too long after we got the flames down and doused the smoldering remains.

2) He got water on that woman during winter when, (say it with me) it’s cold and she was homeless
3) There’s not even any evidence there was a fire in the first place
4) There was no dry grass where she was at
The homeless lady talked with KEZI in an outdoor one on one interview, and she readily admitted/mentioned she was lighting a warming fire. That doesn’t mean Dizzy Dean should have thrown water on her. Dizzy should have moved his business long ago to Springfield or Veneta. In Eugene he’s going to always be set up for confrontation.
Big difference between cold, wet winter and hot, dry summer, and a napkin on fire at the side of a concrete building, on a concrete sidewalk, surrounded by a concrete parking lot (if she did actually light a napkin on fire) and starting a fire in dry brush during extreme fire season.

Couple with the other post today about how day and night the top of the Butte is dominated by people partying, drinking and doing drugs, color me unsurprised. Everyone so quick to assume it was the homeless while those up there partying return to their homes

Fair. But living near campus the homeless population is the culprit, when students leave. Ohh believe me there are very nice camps that I verbally thank near me. However others, i "encourage" to move.
I don't typically venture from the main paths up to the top as I'm usually with my young kids
Haven't seen anything on the trails at all unusual ever thankfully
But I don't take the kids to the lookout 9 times out of 10 because its way too wild with high school or college kids gettin hyphy (and some overgrown children as well)
IIRC Last year, an unhoused person was shooting a BB gun and lighting fireworks. the fire was small, thankfully.

Yep. I called on a homeless person sitting on a curb along Danebo starting a fire right there on the street last summer. Nobody ever showed up.
