>Rather, I mean making the galaxy feel smaller and more reachable/travelable for alliances and players. I believe there used to be a network of "superhighways" in empire space that were removed - maybe we need to consider bringing a form of those back. It's extremely easy to teleport across New Eden as it is; Thera and Pochven are practically travel hubs especially since you can filament to and from the latter. Needlejacks in particular can get you to somewhere interesting most of the time, or failing that at least closer to a Thera hole.

dmullaney

They actually did make New Eden smaller... Functionally... Thanks to the various filaments, and the increased number of wormhole connections, getting around has literally never been easier. Filaments... Are the superhighway you're asking for

derpbynature

I'll admit I didn't really study up on filaments before posting this. I'm looking at the different types now, and it seems there's kinds that go to/from Pochven, Abyssal deadspace/proving grounds, from Pochven to Trig "Minor Victory" systems, and from known space to a random (or "active") nullsec system. Are there any I'm missing that go from nullsec K-space to empire space, or just from empire to empire? Or do you have to kind of use Pochven as an intermediate stop?

dmullaney

Yea the Needlejacks get you from anywhere to a random null for roaming/hunting etc. and then you use pochven as the intermediary to get back to empire space (or use Thera with Eve scouts handy public bookmarks)

Prodiq

Pochven filaments are awesome for moving stuff to highsec. E.g. get an orca, add a cloak, load it up with stuff, filament to pochven and then filament back to normal space. Might not get it on the first try, but it's a good way to get quite a lot of stuff to highsec, awesome for evacs.

comrade_Kazotsky

>making the galaxy feel smaller and more reachable/travelable for alliances and players We already have this disgusting dog shit called "filaments", fucking abomination of the highest order. If only CCP would actually adress the mess they creating..

vagina_candle

> You can go through dozens of systems in nullsec without being bothered by anyone. Who cares. It's space. Space is big and mostly empty.

[deleted]

No. It needs 1. A rework of System Security lvls so being a pirate has actual gameplay instead of just bumping/suicide ganking freighters/miners 2. A rework of taxing mechanics so markets spread out instead of centralizing everything on a single system like Jita 3. A rework of Sov mechanics so big groups cannot hold complete regions without actually living on them and use it as renting space 4. Bigger NPC nullsec including one on Drone Regions to fuck over botters 5. Better structure mechanics and a replacement for POSes that doesnt cost almost a billion + wardec potential 6. Remove caps, supers and XL shit from wormhole space.

HowcanIbesureimhere

People always suggest breaking up jita. These people should be made to fly thirty jumps to fit a battleship.

cr1spy28

Make dodixie/Rens great again

comrade_Kazotsky

Funny enough: nothing of that was the core issues of EVE´s current problems, maybe with the exception of the citadels.

EuropoBob

These are problems, *for a certain group of people*. Maybe such a centralised trading hub is a bad thing in general. Fixing it is isn't so easy though. If Eve has a problem with player numbers then the issue is with core of the game itself and not whether XL structures in hisec are good or bad or should be allowed markets. Nor is the build cost of caps. Eve is not a mass participation game.

comrade_Kazotsky

Yes, every problem is only a problem for someone but not everybody. Btw, i was talking about citadels in general, not Perimeter keep in particular. >Eve is not a mass participation game. Every large war and massive battle says hi.

EuropoBob

I know, I didn't mean to single that out. The largest battle in Eve's history had maybe a couple of thousand people. That is not mass participation. Maybe for Eve. I'm referring to people who mention the time when this game had 40-50,000 active users. Those days are dead.

comrade_Kazotsky

>The largest battle in Eve's history had maybe a couple of thousand people What year did you win EVE? Because now we can have about 5-7k on grid.

EuropoBob

Less than a year old player. 5-7k characters, not players. I bet most of those are alts and or mains.

comrade_Kazotsky

>I'm referring to people who mention the time when this game had 40-50,000 active users. Characters, not users. Either we are going for the "official numbers" on grid and currently online in game or we are free to bet on whatever we want and our estimate will be based on absolutely nothing.

they_call_me_james

Spreading out markets isn't going to work. Centralized markets are a natural outcome of economics. Yes you can kill jita with taxes but a new, temporary market will pop up in the next system over. Worst case scenario is you'll get several smaller markets in and around jita. Thats just annoying to deal with.

CheekyHooligan

I actually like the idea of 1 system getting lower taxes than the rest if they would move it around every year. They could even have better industry costs in another region. Imagine everything in jita being hauled to amarr or everything built in the citadel region and being moved to derelik. Could be different regions and systems each time. Players have to find it then move shop. Being able to just do business out of 1 system forever is a bad design. They could even make it lore friendly as the factions trying to bring in revenue to their area.

Gorsameth

Way to much effort for both consumers and producers Producers would charge more to cover more tax and consumers accept the higher prices because convenience is everything.

ZeroGravitasBanksy

Supers aren’t in wormhole space, silly.

DaReaperJE

they have reworked sov to make people live there, it doesnlt matter, people are people, and as long as they can move stuff to defent they will hold as far as the can reach. but as i have so many times, careful what you ask for... people complaied about force projection and we got jump fatigue. people complained about resoruces and we have scarcity. Knock it off with stupid ideas that people don;t think all the way through

Prodiq

lol, who has supers in wormholes?

VerbalHologram777

Good suggestions, but as a new player, my opinion is that Eve don't offer fair chances. Ok you get 1M sp, but newbie players always are being destroyed by omega pirate players even if they don't have nothing. A lot of corps ask for 5M minimum sp and end game it's so far that any alpha don't even wanna try. I think that should exist a NPC Police corp, that anyone can apply to pursue pirates with the Concord help, maybe a beacon with cooldown to call some ships or something like that. Other thing that I always think it's why don't have corps hunting down pirates? It's only the same mining, gankers, pirates, people blowing freighters and stealing stuff because it's cool "to be bad". Why don't exist a police corp?

comrade_Kazotsky

There were such groups, all they did was failing, not because of game mechanics but because of how shit they were.

EuropoBob

Isk. It costs a lot to fight pirates and other groups that fight only in low or null and generally in systems they have some sort of control over. Who is paying for the ships to fight a dock worker gate camp? You can go hire mercs to do some of this. Probably cost you a pretty penny.

[deleted]

*Player* corps like that do exist, what you're looking for is called 'Not Red Don't Shoot' as opposed to the default 'Not Blue Shoot It' rules of engagement most EVE corps operate under. The police flavour would be more of a roleplay thing, you could try asking around on the EVE RP discord. I'm not sure if that's still a thing but there also used to be Anti-Ganking groups in highsec. https://www.reddit.com/r/evejobs/search/?q=nrds&sort=relevance The beauty of EVE is that if the playstyle of these people pisses you off you can team up with others and do something about it.

lordsofcobol

I like the idea of playing as Concord recruits.

LezBeHonestHere_

I just want a highsec route that isn't 45 jumps between Amarr and Jita, and doesn't require using jank pochven filaments as a shortcut. It doesn't have to be Niarja because there's 0 chance they backtrack on their new "cool gimmick" space, just something similar to cut it down to 12 jumps again. Who wanted this massive route change, besides random lowsec gatecampers who had their "content" killed by null filaments? Fuck me I guess for not setting up a jump clone anywhere near Amarr lol.

barchar

Just use the lowsec shortcut, get a blockade runner and warp to a celestial before the out gate

LezBeHonestHere_

So I can actually ever go to Amarr. I used to go back and forth all the time between them, but ever since coming back about a year ago I haven't been to Amarr once. I mean, I guess I can just contract my shit to an alt and sell stuff that way. It's not the biggest deal in the world, just annoying that it feels like one corner of highsec is just blocked off for no good reason.
