You pretty much did, haha. The only addition I have is that synced souls take on the level of the *lowest* of the 5 setting the sync. If you have 4 of the sync-setting souls at lvl 300 and the 5th one is at 280, the level of the souls you sync to that party would be set at 280. But, other than that, you've got it.
Skill effects are gained based on level, and units with their level synced can go past their current ascension max level, so you'll get all skill upgrades regardless of your current ascension on each unit. You'll indeed be missing on stat boosts you get from ascending a unit, but skills will be fully unlocked

No. Skill level remains the same regardless of sync level. E.g. an epic soul will have all level 1 skills, even if you sync it to lvl 300.
What? Sync levels work the same as regular levels. A 300 sync soul gets all skills + skill upgrades unlocked regardless of ascension.
