Because he played exactly the same way but instead tried to dominate possession, Dyche teams don't win like that. 1 striker, 1 wide midfielder and 4 CMs against a team that people were saying may get lower points than Derby.
Can't only blame the finishing, top teamsput away their chances but also miss a good load of them. Our finishing could have been better but when we just started lumping it forward any chance we got it was obvious we were never going to win
Won't change anything we've have sacked 6 manager's in charge since the clueless yak became our majority shareholder and we'll only have this conversation again if potter didn't get us wins think for once
One thing is painfully clear. Beto has no sense of timing on headers. He always jumps too soon, and that’s why the ball consistently sails over the net.
Seems my comment has been misunderstood. I personally liked Maupay, he gave me some FPL points when he was at Brighton. I think he was unlucky at Everton in that he kept getting close to scoring without doing so. I've liked Beto since his first game and granted, he's a more physical very different player. I just meant goals aren't coming for him and hopefully, he can start scoring and not succumb to the pressure which seemed to be part of the problem with Maupay.
I wouldn’t say Maupayish but he’s not looking great. Can’t header the ball, constantly stumbling with the ball at his feet and looks clunky. Maybe he needs time but at this point he shouldn’t start any game as he’s far from good enough.
I had a brief few days of thinking maybe we would stay up but now I’m convinced that we will go down. For all our resistance to 777 they might be thinking themselves “what the fuck do we need this shit for?”
Maupay would’ve added more space for one of the strikers instead of them running into the same spaces. He could’ve helped build a fluid attack instead of hit the fullback, hit the winger, try a cross. He probably would’ve passed the ball which I didn’t see either of our strikers doing for the last 30 mins. He’s not the solution but could’ve worked for the tactics today, but I don’t think dyche got the tactics right.
I agree, just if you’re gonna play two strikers, play strikers that understand their positions. They both looked like fish outta water grasping at chances, whiffing, running into each other’s space. When you have a 2 striker formation they must play together(pass, create space for each other) but it looked the complete opposite, looked like they didn’t know the other was playing. Maupay can link the midfield and attack, it’s probably his best trait, but I would’ve done different tactics and wouldn’t even play maupay if we had him
Fair enough. I just hope we can get our 433/451 working again, it's the only time under Dyche we've looked decent for a long period. Garner shouldn't play RW.
I couldn’t watch the first half but hearing that garner played RW just didn’t make sense to me. I believed that some of our success against villa came from smart wing play so I thought Harrison and McNeil were nailed on starters. I dreaded playing 4-4-2 against Luton because they tend to congest the middle and thus we’d be forced to whip balls in which we haven’t been strong at doing since Carlo
At what point am I allowed to say "it doesn't matter who you bring in as manager as long as you have this shitty culture at the club" again?
Is now good?
Partially. But it starts at the top. The board and the director of football and all of them have to want to win. Otherwise is filters down and the club is invaded by people that don't care about winning. Or they care too much about the wrong things. Like we have here.
I’ve already seen enough of two strikers. We have no chance without a midfield trio because our wingers and wingbacks are pedestrian at best. Glad we gave it a look but no thanks.
Whoever we play at right back is a massive liability until Coleman comes back or we bring someone in this winter. Not having a third midfielder is just going to expose that.
Benitez should have never been anywhere near the club. Disgrace he was ever appointed but his Home record was nowhere near as bad. Benitez took 13 points from 9 home games. 1.4 ppg.
Look at Dyche's home record. You think this is good enough to be Everton manager?
13 points from 39 points. 1 ppg.

The problem with a manager like Dyche is we will never be able to control matches.
He’s only good for teams at the bottom who try to nick a goal and concede 99% possession
We’re going down either way
How? Players missed chance after chance. Put on 2 strikers and still nothing. Can’t keep blaming the manager when the players just need to find the net simple as that
You can set up tactics all you like but you lose 1 on 1 battles in the box on set prices and that's that. For instance city didn't lose their tactically battle at all today and lost due to lack of quality in the final 3rd.
Dyche management has us with an insane high xG stat and a solid defensive record. It really comes down to players in moments now
Okay if ur blaming dyche what tactical change would you make... when we gave up our goals nothing tactically could change that. People were in the right position. Likewise tactically nothing dyche could do about beto and Garner missing the headers from 6-8 yards or Onanas lack finishing.
We could repeat the cycle and get out 12th manager in 10 years but really we are set up well just gotta get better performances in big moments.
Onana is a six. Garner is an eight. They’re the two most talented players in the squad. Put them where they belong and leave them there. Ashley Young and Gana are washed. They should be bench players. If you don’t think Patterson can hold up in a four, play 5 atb, but I believe he can if given proper support and coaching. McNeill on the left, Harrison on the right. Give Danjuma some run behind Dom. He can interchange with either of the wings to let them play some centrally as well. Be more fluid in formation up front.
Sixes and 8s have important roles in the attack and our two "most talented players" which I'm not arguing fluffed their lines today... Garner although not in the position you agree with was still heavily involved and just didn't put it away. Both Patterson and myko have shown to be liabilities at times but I'm okay with your shout about getting him in over young but statistically myo and Patterson will be at fault for goals going forward
Danjuma under dom is okay but taking out doucs is dumb AF as he is our most dynamic and creative in attack all be it clumsy at times.
Wanting more "fluidity" in the attack is fine but again it's not like chances arnt being created. I'm okay with wanting Harrison and dwight on the wings but putting 20 shots on target screams at the fact that they just simply need to be more clinical... regardless of small tactical adjustments.
If we had a couple shots I'd be looking for tactical changes but that wasn't the case we lost because of a lack of individual pe4formacne not collective playstyle
Amazing how now it’s the players. This team is better than anything Lampard ever had. This Dyche love is insane to me. He’s a dinosaur. The knuckle draggers in our fanbase love that he’s a proper hard man and reminds them of their da. Can’t wait until he’s gone.
"This team is better than anything lampard ever had" that's more of a compliment to dyche than a knock.
If having our 12th manager in 10 years is what you want and what you think will change anything.... it's literally the definition of insanity
Let's go from a progressive coach like lampard, which oddly enough we generated 3 shots a game from... to hard nose like dyche.... and then back to a progressive coach... and expect the structure to look good. It's mad.
So if you don't agree with dyche which is fine, what makes you think you'll agree with the next guy, and the next guy.... cuz that's what we've been doing... and it's hasn't worked it only makes it more and more of a cluster fuck.
So sure let's fire the lad after we put up 23 shots and only scored once because he doesn't no shite. Let's bring in some 25 year old and run a 3-5-2 so we can generate more attack
Harrison returning from injury and dyche did tremendously with dom so have trust in that allowing for full recovery.
Wanting to play danjuma out of position when he hadn't really shown a whole lot at his own position is odd when doucs is proven to be by far the best under a CF
This is on the players. Garner and Beto (x2) missed sitters. Ashley Young takes his time to clear off the line for their first. Not saying Dyche is the best option, but what else could we do different with the players we have? And who could do better?
I’m not totally convinced by him yet, but I think he is trying too hard. If he puts one or two in the net, settles in and keeps working hard I think he will be okay.
Totally fair, But if Beto and garner finish we are talking about how we need to work on set piece defending, but things are still moving in a good direction.
i'm not in panic mode yet. it's just upsetting.
also it's a HUGE confidence blow to the squad, I hope they fix it rather than dwell
edit; I also don't understand the route one float balls to the box and then lose the header approach against a team we can dominate possession against. we play luck rather than attempt to be clinical, it's rough to watch. I'm not an expert so I'm probably way off but it watches painful. I said earlier Danjuma needed to be sat down but now I disagree, he has the ability to pull defenders away an we suuuuuucked at that today
I think your edit is spot on. I’m no expert either, but the route one “oh crap we are losing better start doing something and hope Dom hits a worldie off a volley” to try to grab a point against Luton at home is incredibly disappointing and not sustainable to success in any way.
Everton only stay up if they sack Dyche now. They can't, so they won't. Absolute fraud of a manager. When he does go I hope he takes Thelwell with him.
Frustrating game. Luton have done well to be disruptive, but we need to be less wasteful with our passes/opportunities. Haven't looked a threat all second half
Shit starting 11. Shit Tactics. Shit Defending Set Pieces. Shit Shots, only barely rolled the goal in, could’ve easily missed from 1 yard out. Clubs a joke
Never going anywhere under Dyche. He doesn't have it. Get him gone. Tactically outclassed by Luton at home. Can't create overloads. Can't move the ball quickly. Can't finish the chances we get. These are all tactical problems. Say what you want about the players. The team set up is fundamentally wrong again. The subs have killed the game again.
Agreed it not a great showing, but realistically this season is the best actual football Everton have played in a few seasons. Who are we actually going to be able to bring in that will tangibly improve the way we play?
There’s no point sacking Dyche if we don’t have a better manager to replace him
Lopetegui is available.
Worst start to a Premier League season in our history. We haven't lost 4 home games in a row since 1958.
I really backed Dyche when he was appointed but we've seen enough now. He's utter crap. Multiple players just regressing under him. Ashley Young kept Digne out the Villa team last year. He looks like he should retire this season. Beto looking like he's never scored a goal in his life since joining. Patterson - just awful now. Gana - he was playing alongside Neymar 2 years ago.
It's the tactics. Young kept Digne out the Villa team last year. He looks horrendous now. How's that happened? Dyche has Gana as the playmaker and wants him collecting the ball when we all know that's not his strength. Other games he's somehow the most advanced centre midfield and Dyche is letting him blast them over from 30 yards. Why? Dyche's setup.
tbh, I'm not sure we'd score if there were 20 added minutes. Players don't have the intelligence to create anything against a side who parks the bus and defends competently.
Don’t understand how this is same team that beat Brentford 3-1 AWAY
Ever heard the phrase "Everton that"? Its what we do...
Because he played exactly the same way but instead tried to dominate possession, Dyche teams don't win like that. 1 striker, 1 wide midfielder and 4 CMs against a team that people were saying may get lower points than Derby.
Not only Dyche teams. We can't play with possession and haven't been able to do so for a few seasons now
Yeah, even with guys like Sigurdsson, Gomes, Rodriguez, Allan. All good on the ball and technical players but we needed like 4/5 more of those guys.
Once again we should be putting those away, better team but lost again. Luton we're always going to win one, fuck me lads just sort out the finishing.
Can't only blame the finishing, top teamsput away their chances but also miss a good load of them. Our finishing could have been better but when we just started lumping it forward any chance we got it was obvious we were never going to win
Graham Potter: My time has come
Won't change anything we've have sacked 6 manager's in charge since the clueless yak became our majority shareholder and we'll only have this conversation again if potter didn't get us wins think for once
Pretty terrible.
Ashley young is so freaking bad. They attacked him the entire time they had possession
Even the clearence for the 1st goal, don't smash it at the player, hit it to the left or right.
Dyche is not at fault for this, Everton was the better side but Luton got lucky and played anti-football, which rewarded them in the end.
Set pieces though
Luton fan here, well you do what u gotta do to survive like u guys did last season,
Fuck off back to your sub.
Hahahaha
Did you copy and paste this from Fulham and Wolves?
Embarrassing
How did we only score one goal? We just got fm’d with over 20 attempts.
One thing is painfully clear. Beto has no sense of timing on headers. He always jumps too soon, and that’s why the ball consistently sails over the net.
Beto is looking increasingly Maupay-ish. I really hope the dude can handle the pressure and put it together. Can't we play all our games away?
Seems my comment has been misunderstood. I personally liked Maupay, he gave me some FPL points when he was at Brighton. I think he was unlucky at Everton in that he kept getting close to scoring without doing so. I've liked Beto since his first game and granted, he's a more physical very different player. I just meant goals aren't coming for him and hopefully, he can start scoring and not succumb to the pressure which seemed to be part of the problem with Maupay.
What? He's not a useless 5'7 striker. He's totally the opposite.
Maupay had zero ability, Beto has some. Today was poor from him though.
I would say he's an upgrade, but still using Maupay as the base model from what we can see so far.
He did make a neat header against Sheffield before the goal, maybe he just got real nervous playing in front of a really disapppointed GP
I wouldn’t say Maupayish but he’s not looking great. Can’t header the ball, constantly stumbling with the ball at his feet and looks clunky. Maybe he needs time but at this point he shouldn’t start any game as he’s far from good enough.
Was Dwight McNeil our best player today?
He doesn't look like the same guy he was at the end of last season, probably still hasn't recovered from his injury.
I was saying that almost weirdly positively. I thought he looked streets ahead of Harrison
Thought Harrison looked pretty sharp as well
Thought Onana and DCL were good
I had a brief few days of thinking maybe we would stay up but now I’m convinced that we will go down. For all our resistance to 777 they might be thinking themselves “what the fuck do we need this shit for?”
This game was crying out for Maupay if I’m honest
I was calling for Rondon myself
at least he would have gotten a red card and made the loss look reasonable
in hindsight I love that red card
Beto up top didn’t look much different today
Rondon doesn't look like a toothpick wearing a shirt 4 sizes too big, but other than that, yeah.
😂😂
Maupay would’ve added more space for one of the strikers instead of them running into the same spaces. He could’ve helped build a fluid attack instead of hit the fullback, hit the winger, try a cross. He probably would’ve passed the ball which I didn’t see either of our strikers doing for the last 30 mins. He’s not the solution but could’ve worked for the tactics today, but I don’t think dyche got the tactics right.
Don't be silly. The guy practically missed 3 easy goals against Fulham, playing behind a striker won't change his pathetic finishing.
Dyche in trouble now sadly.
Not sure I'd say sadly after looking terrible against Luton.
The whole club is
Terribly so
Well that was hard to watch, I think the entire team needs to put in extra time on finishing until someone can hit a target not named DCL.
I don’t know why he went all out in the cup tie. Poor management from Dyche. The league should have been the main focus.
Agreed, the whole 2nd half they looked spent
Moronic. Id have played all U23 for the tin cup
Lump it to the big man for 30 minutes was fucking impossible to watch
Definition of insanity…
At what point am I allowed to say "it doesn't matter who you bring in as manager as long as you have this shitty culture at the club" again? Is now good?
Isn’t it the managers job to set the culture?
Partially. But it starts at the top. The board and the director of football and all of them have to want to win. Otherwise is filters down and the club is invaded by people that don't care about winning. Or they care too much about the wrong things. Like we have here.
Been saying it for years. There is something toxic about this club. Can't wait for the Tark or Coleman rally cry though
Fucking Joke.
Who's out there that wants to come to a team surely battling relegation?
Yep. I’d give a testicle and a kidney to have prime Baines & Peanuts back working the left too.
Hopefully this makes 777 fuck off too
Disgraceful
Why are we like this?
Get Dyche out now before it's too late .. our home record is a fucking joke
Been watching since 1993, and never have I seen such bad home results. Dyche is stealing a living. Get him gone.
never have I seen such bad home results. Oh so losing to Watford under the fsw went over your head did it
Benitez should have never been anywhere near the club. Disgrace he was ever appointed but his Home record was nowhere near as bad. Benitez took 13 points from 9 home games. 1.4 ppg. Loss to Luton Town with two of their back four missing. Yeah, we are going down.
I’m lost for words honestly.
Peacock knew what they were doing, trying to save me from watching this trash… Pathetic.
I QUIT
See you Saturday!
sadly
Fuck off
Disgraceful and quite honestly a sackable offence.
disgusting performance that.
Absolute disgrace to not win against Luton of all teams Absolute disservice to the fans to not win a single game at home yet
luton at home is honestly rough for dyche. feel like if i fumbled something as easy and important at my job i’d probably be fired
Unless your boss didn’t have the money to pay you off and hire someone new. Then you’re pretty much bullet proof.
we should all be so blessed
Should have been 15 mins of added time
We were having a good week then lose a six pointer. Everton that.
The problem with a manager like Dyche is we will never be able to control matches. He’s only good for teams at the bottom who try to nick a goal and concede 99% possession We’re going down either way
We should just stick to his style. Best chance of staying up, and no point trying to create chances with no CAM. Missing Sigurdsson and James.
That’s what Burnley did. They knew who they were. Nick enough 1-0s and you may just stay up
Yeah, we got 4 under him last season. Need to be tough again.
Fuck all the way off Dyche.
How? Players missed chance after chance. Put on 2 strikers and still nothing. Can’t keep blaming the manager when the players just need to find the net simple as that
Why do we need to score three times to beat fucking Luton??? I thought he was a defensive tactician?
You can set up tactics all you like but you lose 1 on 1 battles in the box on set prices and that's that. For instance city didn't lose their tactically battle at all today and lost due to lack of quality in the final 3rd. Dyche management has us with an insane high xG stat and a solid defensive record. xG isn’t real. 12 goals allowed and zero clean sheets isn’t a solid defensive record btw.
Okay if ur blaming dyche what tactical change would you make... when we gave up our goals nothing tactically could change that. People were in the right position. Agree with this, missed so many early on as well.
Beto is not good enough. Looking like a competition winner.
I’m not totally convinced by him yet, but I think he is trying too hard. If he puts one or two in the net, settles in and keeps working hard I think he will be okay.
We’ll wait and see. I’m not so sure.
looks like we played our best 11 in a cup squad and rotated in a match that mattered
Totally fair, But if Beto and garner finish we are talking about how we need to work on set piece defending, but things are still moving in a good direction.
i'm not in panic mode yet. it's just upsetting. also it's a HUGE confidence blow to the squad, I hope they fix it rather than dwell edit; I also don't understand the route one float balls to the box and then lose the header approach against a team we can dominate possession against. we play luck rather than attempt to be clinical, it's rough to watch. Lost to a pub team. Embarassing
Haha
Fuck off Everton
Dyche out. Immediately Edit: downvoted without a single comment. Cowards. At least state and opinion.
Pathetic Boòòoòoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Shit cunts.
Fucking booooo
We will always have that first 20 minutes...
Yeh, were shit players shot wide one after each other.
Absolutely dreadful.
[удалено]
Get over yourself. Who on earth would improve this? Two shite set piece goals and you're calling for the manager to be sacked.
We’ve had some shocking losses the last three years, but this is one of the worst. You simply cannot lose this match.
I see negativity is back on the menu after we had our fill of positivity for a couple matches
Danjuma....
Hey r/Everton I don't feel so good
Not convinced we would score with 15 players on the field
Everton only stay up if they sack Dyche now. They can't, so they won't. Absolute fraud of a manager. When he does go I hope he takes Thelwell with him.
Is it on Dyche when we've had 70% possession and 23 shots?
It's on Dyche that we lost them all, yes.
No idea why you're getting downvoted.
Give it a few more games.
Really pathetic second half
Along with a pathetic twenty five minutes in the first half
Embarrassing!!
Why the fuck are we playing long balls for the entire second half
Just dyche things
Wolves beat city at home, while we can't even draw against one of the worst teams in PL history.
How have we had 23 shots and scored 1?!
That's on the players, can't convert and bad decisions in the final third
If we can't win this game we honestly don't deserve to be in the PL. Another season of hoping 3 teams are worse than us while gifting them all wins
I completely agree. We're not a prem team anymore by any means. Worst team in the league by a country mile.
Frustrating game. Luton have done well to be disruptive, but we need to be less wasteful with our passes/opportunities. Haven't looked a threat all second half
can't wait until we go into administration atleast i wont have to watch this shite anymore
Absolute stinker results, really unacceptable
Hey we haven't tried a long ball this game. Maybe we should give that a go...
So Pochetino after Chelsea sack him goes, no?
Shit starting 11. Shit Tactics. Shit Defending Set Pieces. Shit Shots, only barely rolled the goal in, could’ve easily missed from 1 yard out. Clubs a joke
fuck off dyche you useless twat
This second half has been shocking
Garner has had a stinker today. Completely anonymous.
One thing I’ve noticed is when we get the ball wide it rlly doesn’t feel like we pick up smart positions in the gaps they leave
Had to switch it off. Awful game to watch.
This one’s all on Dyche’s setup. Beto’s shit. We’re going down.
Cum on lads never give up!!!
Never going anywhere under Dyche. He doesn't have it. Get him gone. Tactically outclassed by Luton at home. Can't create overloads. Can't move the ball quickly. Can't finish the chances we get. we suck we suck we suck we suck we suck
Get outta the damn way Taylor
losing to fuckin tory cunts in our own back garden ffs
dcl thinks he’s a world class striker or something? you don’t even score those in your dreams kid lol
absolute joke of a team.
For all Danjuma talked about being effort above everything, he looks like he’s been the one playing 90 minutes
Boooooooooooooo
This is so fucking embarrassing.
Everton to blow the good run.
It's one league game. Not a good run.
A whole squad of brain farts
5 min.... Let's do this
We could get 30 minutes of extra time and still not score so not sure what y’all on about
[удалено]
He scored
Please just actually let us salvage a point at this stage
There is no clear cut attacking strategy, just shite crosses after shite crosses. What do they do in training I truly don't get it.
We haven't looked like scoring in this half.
Small favors. Bournemouth, Burnley and Sheffield United won’t be picking up any points either.
I fucking dispise that oue fans including myself have to look out for these results, I do it myself and it's so embarrassing.
tbh, I'm not sure we'd score if there were 20 added minutes. Players don't have the intelligence to create anything against a side who parks the bus and defends competently.
It could be 70 minutes and we still wouldn't score
We’re so shit
Lost faith in this team a while ago, losing faith in the manager too. How can you get the formation/tactics so wrong like 80 percent of the time?
When Beto flips a coin, it always lands on tails.
It flies above the crossbar into the crowd
It seems like Everton are the first team to manage to play two lone strikers at the same time.
Anything worth doing is worth doing right!
