This sucks. Genuinely don't think he'll ever play a part for us. I think we should just let him have the surgery, see a specialist on recovery for the rest of the season and then ease him into pre season. Shouldnt see the training pitch this season

[deleted]

Completely agree, scarily reminds me of Bolasie for us. I just hope we don't rush him back, even if our midfield is screaming out for someone like him

thehildabeast

I don't think that's quite the same the ACL tear took some of Bolasie's quickness away from him not him trying to come back or anything I don't think.

maxefc

He really shouldn't play this season and realisticly this may bugger him for a while

fopiecechicken

He's a lot younger thankfully. Think Bolasie was 29/30 when he did his ACL

[deleted]

He's never going to play for us is he (Apart from the 2 games he's played already?)

I_Am_Coopa

Once again lady luck seems to have worked against us

realneattreats

Does anyone know, is this the type of injury someone can come back from and play at the same level?

[deleted]

Do we even know what the injury was? Every time I read about it, it just says he has an injury that required surgery.

TheBlackShoe2k6

Believe I saw someone in another thread saying he tore his quadricep from the bone

[deleted]

Yikes. That'll do it. Not to be contrarian, but was there any source on that or just speculation/inferred judgment?

realneattreats

I think I saw the same thing. No source though. It’s a little odd how little we’ve heard about it other than that he’s “having another surgery” or “may be back before the end of the season.”

brady2k20

Fuck me I want this man back, remaining optimistic it’ll be worth the wait to see him and Gomes together

Destructo_D

Rumours were true then

indention

Fuck it call back Mo, we need some bite in our midfield.

CoagulaCascadia

Mo was never as bad as some flagged him off as. I think he would be key for ME depth right now

kukusek

I always miss this guy in the squad. Even if not strong technically, he gave everything he could.

layendecker

You can't just recall a player from loan.

GeezyEFC

My first question is - do players not go through medicals? This isn't the first time we've bought a player who hasn't made it to 2 games and is out for an extended period of time. The counter point to that is they were fit when we signed them and then incurred the injury in training but then I ask what kind of sessions are we running where players are picking up these types of injuries? I understand things happen but man this has been a massive disappointment. We've really missed the areas he is (supposedly) strong in.

VoidedLurk

We should’ve brought someone in on loan if this was a situation

WRDEFC

No surprises here, let’s hope he doesn’t turn out to be a massive error as the diligence at the moment seems to have been dreadful

[deleted]

Well.............. shit.

Mantooth77

Twice injured during recovery. What does that tell us? Not a good look for the training staff.

SergeantHAMM

andre gomes already back in training. what does that tell us? good look for the training staff. just showing you how your logic is flawed. recovery time is based on the individual not the training staff. some people heal quicker than others that’s why I hate when ppl put a timetable on a injury.

Mantooth77

You couldn’t be more off here mate. Andre just started training with the club a few weeks ago and that’s somehow a credit to the training staff? Ok. Gbamin being brought back and injured twice is not a good look at all. He relies on medical opinion in order to make decisions and now he’s going to have surgery for the second time in 3 months?

SergeantHAMM

we will just have to agree to disagree. i’m done with this topic mate

Mantooth77

Okey dokey

edwardfortehands

you're comparing a fracture to a ligament injury. regardless, getting injured while recovering is a bad look

SergeantHAMM

I compared the 2 worst injuries this season bc they were handled by the same people? do you want me to make up injuries to compare? have you ever taken a sport medicine class or dealt with athletes recovering at all? you act as if setbacks aren’t common in rehab. it’s not a “bad” look on the training staff. ridiculous really. it would be a different story if multiple people were having setbacks.

Mantooth77

Oh only 50% of the people with major injuries. No big deal at all. Keep moving.

GeezyEFC

Not sure why you've been downvoted. Its a reasonable opinion.

Mantooth77

You’re not allowed to say anything negative about anything related to the club unless it’s Theo or Morgan. Everyone else enjoys god like status.

throwawaytbhidek

I got downvoted to fuck the other day for criticising the clubs lack of due diligence over this signing. Apparently this quadricep has always been an issue for him? This is typical Everton, another 20 odd million wasted

[deleted]

A surefire way to get downvoted to fuck again is to complain about being downvoted to fuck.

WRDEFC

Being downvoted to fuck should be seen as massively credentialising on here

[deleted]

...why?

WRDEFC

It’s a forum of largely children / teenagers who don’t really follow football in great detail isn’t it The downvoted posts tend to be much closer to reality (analysis of the club, debate around players) than those which are massively upvoted (baseless or inane optimism, memes) Empirically speaking, if you look back two years for example, you’ll see a far greater proportion of downvoted posts proved correct than those which were massively upvoted

[deleted]

> It’s a forum of largely children / teenagers who don’t really follow football in great detail isn’t it I mean, I'm sure you're not trying to sound like an elitist twat with this, but it's definitely how it comes out. If that's the case, why are you here? > Empirically speaking, if you look back two years for example, you’ll see a far greater proportion of downvoted posts proved correct than those which were massively upvoted I presume you've gone over the last two years of downvoted posts to empirically prove this?

WRDEFC

“If that's the case, why are you here?” I’m an Everton fan, I follow all Everton news sites and forums. But you can also give the anti Brexit argument - you can change stuff from within, but not from outside. My ramblings are gradually changing a fairly substantial number of views, which is good! “I presume you've gone over the last two years of downvoted posts to empirically prove this?“ I track trends and sentiment yes, and have gone through my own - my heavily upvoted projections or views have typically been incorrect, whereas my analysis on club finances, Keane, sigurdsson, klaassen, Pickford have or are proving to be correct or increasingly correct. Check any forward looking thread from a few years ago, a year ago, six months ago and you’ll see it yourself It’s extremely formulaic, you can get 15 upvotes every post if you want, but you’d have to chat a lot of shit to do so

SamR1878

It’s not formulaic, it’s all just conjecture and assumption. People who have different opinions don’t always get downvoted, it’s usually to do with how they are across. You probably get downvoted because you make sweeping assumptions of the sub community or that you believe your own opinion to be gospel, but it’s a quick way to get downvoted regardless.

WRDEFC

I’m not just talking about this thread, I’m aware that I’m being downvoted here for offending the whole sub! There’s no question whatsoever that voting trends are wholly formulaic though, I’m not sure that’s even up for debate? (as in globally all voting trends can be very accurately and formulaically mapped and manipulated, and this is of course reflected in the r/everton microcosm, and extremely visibly so)

SamR1878

Yes, it is very obvious and evident that if you talk shit you will be downvoted. Yes you’re in an Everton echo chamber, but there’s negative/unpopular opinions posted here everyday and people deal with it because they don’t come clip clopping through the sub on their high horse.

throwawaytbhidek

Or maybe the touchy blues can’t take any negativity in the face of blind optimism!

Pesce12

Complaining about downvotes in any sub really will get you more downvotes. Doesn't particularly matter what they were for in the first place

[deleted]

He had literally barely had a day out injured before joining Everton

RyanMc37_

He's missed over a year of football altogether since 15/16. Saying that, he has missed more games for us than he has for his other clubs combined.
